mfw finding out that the localization of hopes literally cut an entire frame out of a scene
like can we not
can we not try to make felix seem more angry and edgy than he actually is by removing him smiling/not being aggressive for the explicit purpose of making him seem significantly angrier as a person/purposely not portraying him in a good light
like no seriously tell me why they literally went out of their way to remove an entire frame of him when it didn't improve the scene to remove it and instead paints him in a worse light
#DCB Comments#they do everything they can and bend backwards to make edelgard so uwu so good and justified#but when it comes to other characters who don't fawn over her they actively go out of their way to#remove scenes and change sentences completely to make those characters look worse#or just totally remove lines that might do her verbal harm. I recall a Sylvain line that got#totally removed from the loc too. in the Felix case it just serves to make him look more mean#and I'm noticing this trend of removing things that make characters seem good/better/nicer unless it's Edelgard#in which they bend backwards to do right by her and add in words to make her seem better#Felix's situation is just like with Rhea where they changed her tone/behavior to match Edelgard's view of her#rather than just translating her lines properly and keeping her tone the same in the loc#for some reason the loc is hellbent on making Rhea and Felix seem like terrible people and removing#most if not all instances of them being good people. it's even more glaring of an issue in Hopes in this case#bc Felix has a dramatically less amount of reasoning to be as aggressive as he in Houses#his banter with Dimitri could've just been friendly and reminiscent of them being childhood friends as it is in JP#but in the loc they just went nah this one single frame makes Felix seem like a better person with better relationships#better cut that out so ppl don't get the ~wrong idea~ about him and think he's actually more mellowed out in this game#-.-#DCB Three Hopes Stuff

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Review Chapter 6 & 7
Okay, this collection of posts will be filled with spoilers, including clips and screenshots, so if you don't wanna see things, then don't look. Some of the things I'm gonna highlight will include references to Remake and other sources to link with the overarching plot. This is a straight path playthrough with no sidequests or extra content.
Time to hit the beach!
Tumblr media
But first we run into some friends. Johnny's been scammed into running a hovel of a hotel but he gives us rooms for free.
The whole Johnny bit was kinda much, but it could've been worse.
Tumblr media
Literally can't go to the beach unless it's in the right clothes, so Cloud does a few fun activities to earn tickets and then joins sailor Barret. Boi gets in his feels over soldiers degrading and then it's time for a pov change.
As fun as all the other possible scenes are, I think this is the most plot relevant. Aerith and Red talk about the white materia, the whispers and what was stolen from her.
Tumblr media
And then it's right back to the fun doing stuff to earn swimwear! Tifa gets to play her theme in a concert at one of the hotels and we hear how the original person ran off with their lover. You can find them both at the Cosmo Canyon hotel.
After everyone's changed, Cloud indirectly calls Tifa hot and there's some mild flustered flirting.
Tumblr media
And then Hojo shows up. Honestly this still seems so freaking random having him lie on a lounger while girls fawn over his wrinkled skanky ass.
Eventually we hit a boss fight, and weirdly enough it's Yuffie and Johnny to the rescue!
Tumblr media
After that comes some conversation where Tifa speaks the line in her profile.
After a night's sleep we meet Yuffie again and you can choose how to answer her a bit like her OG recruitment, but no matter what she's coming with.
And it's a trek up the mountain. Literally.
Aerith is the slowest. Literally.
The party splits into two. Yuffie, Barret and Tifa go first. Yuffie leaves drawings on the cliffs to direct us and tell us a lil story.
Yuffie winds up Barret, who yells at her and makes her cry. Tifa tells Barret off and makes him cry. They all make up and become good friends.
Tumblr media
Anyway, while we're climbing we get a moment with Rufus, who tells off the board for letting Midgar get ruined and not stopping his crazy father from dropping the plate. The weapons are talked about briefly, but overall, Rufus has different priorities than his dad.
Tumblr media
Then we get another interlude with Zack. Elmyra comes to take Aerith home, and Zack comes along with Cloud.
Then it's back to Mt Corel and Yuffie explains the interim government in Wutai and we see more hints about Glenn and his team.
They find a weapon in the reactor, then head to the bridge, which needs lowering. Cloud has a funny turn so it's left up to Yuffie, Tifa and Barret to do the thing.
Tumblr media
Yuffie's level is mostly swinging and throwing her star at stuff, and culminates in a boss battle to protect three baby chocobos. There's a super cute part after where Tifa says the baby bird looks like Cloud but cute 🤭
We take a trip on a minecart with more throwing star and shooting things and reunite with the group at the bridge.
Tumblr media
And in Corel, Barret finds a less than warm welcome.
Cloud has another funny turn. Sephiroth can't have Cloud feeling confident about Tifa having a scar, so distracts him when Tifa finds doc Sherain, who saved her life after Sephiroth's attack. He says someone from Shinra helped too, so maybe we'll find out in part three.
Tumblr media
Barret gives us a brief history of Corel and the reactor and his part in it. We're heading into the start of one of the most emotional character arcs of the game.
If you don't cry over Barret's story you have no soul!
Honestly, Costa del Sol has always been filler material. And I seem to be saying that about a lot of chapters so far. Tbf Corel and the prison give us true meaty storytelling and Barret's arc has always been one of my faves and remains one of my faves. John nailed every line ❤️😭

I want to hear your thoughts about the HP movies! So here go a number of asks, you of course don’t have to answer all of them (or any), but consider this an invitation to share!!
Which movie choice do you think…
-was the most pointless (there’s just nothing to be gained from the change and yet they did it anyway)?
-had the most outsized or lasting impact on how a character is viewed by the fandom?
-was actually a positive change?
-annoys you personally the most?
Thank you for this very excellent ask!! I will absolutely be answering all these questions.
Which movie choice do you think…
-was the most pointless (there’s just nothing to be gained from the change and yet they did it anyway)?
There are so many but the most obvious answer is casting Lavender Brown as white. Not only was there nothing to gain, but there was a lot to lose and it was just needlessly racist. I'm also not a fan of how Jessie Cave played her, but it's unclear how much of that was her choice and how much of it was the direction. She didn't play it like a 16 year old with a crush, but like she was a fangirl. Ron was just another kid in her class, it made no sense. When you have a crush at that age you might put the person on a pedestal, even idealize them without knowing them well, but the way she fawned over him was almost vaudevillian in how over the top it was. Her performance made the whole thing feel like a caricature, not an immature high school relationship. Knowing that she was given the role over a black actress only to give this performance feels like it was definitely a pointless change, but then, so many other choices in the films were too...
It also made that relationship and its effect on Ron too simplistic. It was part of his character to be awkward and inexperienced, and the main reason he went into that relationship was because these factors made him feel insecure and because it fed his ego. That's an important aspect of a character who's the youngest son in a family with 5 older brothers most of whom were high achievers, and whose best friend is famous. But then Ron's whole character arc of being fed up with being overlooked when Harry's name comes out of the goblet in GoF is shoved aside in that film as well, so why would HBP suddenly treat him as three dimensional? There was a lot of character development that Ron went through in HBP, in large part due to his relationship with Lavender, which was left out of the film completely as a result of how simplistically and cartoonishly Lavender herself was portrayed. It's one of many examples of ways in which the films didn't try to tell a story, but instead seemed like frantic efforts to check plot points off a list in order to get to the end.
Which movie choice do you think…
-had the most outsized or lasting impact on how a character is viewed by the fandom?
Hagrid. He's a complex and problematic character who doesn't seem to have formed friendships with students other than Harry, Ron, and Hermione. And if it weren't for his friendship with Harry, then Ron and Hermione wouldn't have spent time with him either, let alone formed a relationship (which Hermione did, at least, as we see in PoA). We see throughout the books that the other students are, at best, ambivalent about him, and at worst don't like his teaching style or his choice of creatures. We see this especially when Professor Grubbly-Plank subs for Hagrid and several students are vocally enthused about her, to the point of saying they hope she replaces Hagrid permanently after just one lesson.
Harry's connection with Hagrid is profound, because Hagrid was not only the one who welcomed him into the magical world and hand-delivered his Hogwarts letter, but also knew his parents and is a connection to them. Harry loves him not because he's big and cuddly and dumb, but because as a child looking for any kind of parental figures to latch onto, Hagrid was the first person he met who actively wanted to take care of him, did so when he took him to Diagon Alley, and continued to do so in welcoming him in his cabin and having him for tea regularly. Hagrid gives him advice at times, and is fiercely loyal. He also endangers Harry on several occasions and asks inappropriate favors of him, and these things altogether are what make Hagrid so complex. He plays a significant role in Harry's life, but not really in any of the other students'.
If you take the films on the whole, then by the end of the second film Hagrid is set up as this jolly giant beloved by the whole school (mostly because Steve Kloves/Chris Columbus didn't know how to end the film so they just focused on Hagrid's return from Azkaban - I can't even talk about Hagrid getting sent to prison with no proof or trial and that going completely unaddressed 👀JKR). Throughout the rest of the films we see Hagrid as someone who the trio have a relationship with only when it's relevant to the plot. They don't go to his for tea just to be social, and that's something that could have been fit in in ways that simultaneously offered plot development. I think it's a consistent problem in the films that moving the plot forward is prioritized without attention to developing relationships or understanding how that feeds into character and story development. In a franchise based on a book series that people latched onto because of their love for the characters, it's startling to see how little attention was paid to the thing that spoke to readers most.
Most of Hagrid's creatures like the skrewts or even nifflers are left out, as are many other elements that serve to color the wizarding world and make it feel more tangible. The only "monstrous" creature we see Hagrid teaching in the films is Buckbeak who is alone and not part of a flock and is left out of subsequent films. Care of Magical Creatures is left out of OOtP completely and it isn't even in class that Harry learns what thestrals are, but then Professor Grubbly-Plank isn't in the films at all. All the scenes where Hagrid is drunk around the kids are left out, as well as most of the ways he endangers them in various ways. If it weren't for Umbridge's bit in the forest, Grawp would have been left out of OOtP altogether (and tbh since she was carried off by centaurs anyway, he could have been).
Tl;dr the films exaggerated Hagrid into a big, cuddly, silly giant of a man who showed up when it was convenient for the narrative and didn't present any of the problems or challenges he did in the books.
(Runner up answer to this question is Hermione, who's portrayed as a two dimensional matriarchal harpy with consistent characteristics - like calling Ron "Ronald" which is... pointless and overly formal - that make her out to be an uptight school marm. Her personality is chopped at the knees and her main role is to be the voice of exposition, not a character unto herself with her own growth and development. Third place is the Dursleys who were an excellent bit of social commentary and contrast to Harry's world as well as a relevant example of abuse that informed Harry's character and emphasized parallels between him and Voldemort as well as him and Snape, but I'm trying to keep my answers to one thing. The general answer to this question is honestly just "omg everyone, everyone, every character was changed in pointless and terrible ways, help me understand why." The fact that Snape isn't even in the top three on this list tells you everything, because I could write a whole essay on that alone.)
Which movie choice do you think…
-was actually a positive change?
Leaving out Nearly Headless Nick and his Deathday Party in CoS. It added color to the book but not much else and it makes sense it was left out of the film. It would have added nothing to it. And that film was enough of a mess without it, let's be honest. I also don't mind that most of Rita Skeeter's bullshit was left out of GoF. I get that Rowling was making a comment on the press with her character, but I felt Skeeter was more of a result of Rowling having resentment after becoming famous by the time she sat down to write the book and GoF being the first one where her editor gave her free reign. It's uncomfortable the way this grown woman who's a successful journalist goes after literal children and has a petty feud with them. It's not even a reasonable parallel for how famous children are treated by the press because most of them either have a publicist or a parent who has one, they aren't expected to go up against journalists on their own. But then, Rowling's metaphors are often not fully thought through.
Which movie choice do you think…
-annoys you personally the most?
I'm lumping them as one choice but really it's the same choice made over and over and over again and I hate it so much it makes me want to throw hands:
"I know."
Character development is consistently choked by using this device of, "I know what you're thinking," "I know you're going to ask," and other variations of the same. Sometimes it's more subtle, like when Dumbledore takes Harry to meet Slughorn and Harry says, "I just apparated, didn't I?" but it's the same thing again and again. There's no reason Harry couldn't say, "what the?--" and Dumbledore couldn't answer, "I'm sorry, I forgot to ask if you had ever apparated before." Or, in a surprise plot twist, it could have been presented as it was in the book, with Dumbledore simply asking Harry if he'd done it before and Harry replying no and having a new experience. The change in the film offers nothing. It's boring. It deliberately prevents characters from being challenged and growing as a result. It's also often, but not always, Hermione who offers this kind of exposition, because that's her main purpose in the films and she needs a job, I guess? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I just don't see the point of it. It feels very much like soap opera writing. In terms of writing and meeting a studio production's expectations, you wouldn't gain page numbers or screen time if you had a character ask a question that another had to think about and answer. When Harry goes up to Katie Bell in HBP, there's no reason he can't ask her how she is and then what she remembers, instead of her saying "I know you're going to ask but I don't know." It would have used op the same amount of space on the page and the same length of time to film. (Actually, if HBP had spent less time having Slughorn narrate how and why he was taking acromantula venom and instead had him do so covertly as he did in the book, there would be enough screen time left to spread across adding a few lines of needed dialogue in several scenes. This is another frustrating thing about the films, and what I mean when I say they just try to check events off a list to get to the end: in the book, Slughorn's motivation to go to Hagrid's with Harry is to procure acromantula venom, which is rare and valuable. Once this motivation is taken away, as it is in the film, it's pointless to have him go through the motions of doing so, let alone doing it so overtly and with Hagrid's permission, which goes against the latter's character. It shows a profound lack of understanding of the story and its purpose that this moment received so much screen time when the point of that scene was for Harry to end up in a situation where he could get Slughorn into a vulnerable enough state to get the memory from him.)
The whole "I know" thing feels unnatural, forced, and pointless. It's clumsy and two-dimensional writing and if these films had to stand on their own and weren't based on a beloved book series, this kind of writing would have tanked them after the second one.
Thank you for this very fun ask! I have a lot of issues with the films, but I do enjoy them and still watch them often. I don't have high hopes for the HBO series (and I don't think it's necessary), but I do wish often that these films had been better done and by writers, producers, and directors more suited to the job.

Ask 001, for two ships:
Ed/Winry
Mikazuki/Atra/Kudelia
For this ask game.
Ed/Winry (Fullmetal Alchemist)
when I started shipping it if I did:
So, the thing about me and shipping is that I don't do it much, or didn't for the longest time. I just didn't come into fandom via that avenue, which is why most of the relationships I have written are fairly solidly the canon ones. So the honest answer is, when FMA!2003 did.
my thoughts:
Again, to caveat: I've a bigger soft spot for the 2003 anime adaptation than I do the manga (Brotherhood I don't count at all). So my baseline is an anaemic version of Ed and Winry's 'intended' relationship. But I've always liked that 2003!Winry gets to be a proactive part of the goings-on, and her friendship with Sheska, and I like the sense of the person she is come Conqueror of Shambala. Similarly, I could always think of more to do with the broken version of Ed that ends the anime. He's a quieter, gentler character than his manga counterpart and I think that's why what I ended up writing for them coming together at last was almost a sigh of relief. It's not a deeply complicated relationship, they just share a lot of friendship, mutual attraction and feel safe in each other's company. It's hardly the romance of the century but then they're neither of them especially romantic people.
What makes me happy about them:
That they're prodigies in completely separate fields, who dazzle the socks off the people around them smart enough to know what they're doing, who're nevertheless hopeless dorks on a personal level and will, with perfect hypocrisy, call each other out for being so. Also, there is nothing quite like sticking Ed in a room with the auto-mail people who fawn over Winry's genius. It's the perfect collision of 'my girlfriend is so cool' and 'I haven't a fucking clue what these people are talking about and this is a scary new experience.'
What makes me sad about them:
Probably the fact that I can't imagine them ever losing the compartmentalisation in their lives. For both of them, there are areas that the other just Will Not Get, no matter how long they're together.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
Not directly related to Ed or Winry but I kind of don't like it when people pair Winry with Al as a means of freeing up Ed for another relationship. That's never worked for me, with their personalities.
things I look for in fanfic:
It's been years since I read FMA fanfic regularly. But I think it'd be people leaning into them both being bloody knowledgeable, bloody-minded people and also Winry's lock-picking skills.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
Winry and Paninya, naturally. Ed . . . genuinely I'm not sure I'd pair him with anyone else. I read him as being fairly slow to form attraction to people and I'm too much of a Mustang/Hawkeye sap to go for the obvious choice. (I never did get to explore it much but in my fics, Russell Tringham is very much fuck why are you hot about Ed but that was entirely one-sided. Still, that could be funny.)
My happily ever after for them:
Winry is a fabulously rich and renowned auto-mail mechanic and Ed helps by coming up with ever-better materials for her to work with.
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
Tumblr media
(They switch and try very hard to avoid auto-mail-induced bruises.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
I reckon they make for a very sweet pair of sappy nerds reading on a sofa together, off in their own separate worlds but sprawled over each other.
Mikazuki/Atra/Kudelia (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans)
when I started shipping it if I did:
Roughly two seconds after Atra did in-canon.
my thoughts:
OK, look, do you have any idea how refreshing it is to have a show eject love-triangle/pining nonsense in favour of explicit, no-holds-barred polyamory? Like -- push all the male-power-fantasy stuff aside for a moment and try to remember the last time you saw a character respond to nascent 'oh no my crush is talking to someone attractive' with 'but actually there's a way this can work out where everyone's happy', and then proceed to symbolically marry the three of them together? I love Atra so much.
I love how it plays with those power fantasy tropes, too, because you have to remember Mika isn't actually one of those, he's gradual decay dressed up to look like a power fantasy in certain lights. He doesn't just passively collect two girlfriends. He's the one who comes on to Kudelia (with a customary lack of manners) and repeatedly shows warmth and care towards Atra. Likewise, Atra is pushing them all together every way she can, having learned from the Turbines that it's possible to have that kind of family and determined to make it work. Kudelia meanwhile . . . well, Kudelia has no idea what's going on but these are her two favourite people in the world now.
None of this is one-sided, or 'just because'; they each have reasons to care about the others and they respect each other enormously, and it's all jumbled up with the immense pressures they're all suffering under. It's lovely.
What makes me happy about them:
All of the above but also that it's so very . . . not a big deal. It's good for them, they make each other happy, and it's very easy to imagine them just chilling together doing normal stuff. In the middle of everything, I think that was the perfect choice for this kind of relationship, for how it throws the rest into sharp relief.
What makes me sad about them:
Well. This story is a tragedy so no way was it ending well. And I wouldn't change that. That's too much the point. Mikazuki was always going to let go his happiness for the sake of following Orga and there was nothing either of the other two could do to hold on to him.
things done in fanfic that annoys me:
Bearing in mind that I regard Orga Itsuki as the most asexual man on Mars, I don't have a problem with Mika/Orga as a pairing. But I've read at least one fic that got on my nerves by too readily detaching Mika from Atra and Kudelia to make it work. It also gave Atra this long speech about how terrible it was for her to try to hold on to him by getting pregnant, that was clearly expressing the author's bugbear with what is, in-story, an act of desperation at a point where Mika is loudly committing to fighting 'til he's dead on account of his increasing disability (can we please not cram the literal child soldiers into some drive to acknowledge 'problematic' behaviour, they have enough going on already, thank you). BUT ANYWAY, my point is, it's not like you can't easily fold Orga into this relationship. If he wants to be Mika's wife too, that's fine.
things I look for in fanfic:
More IBO fanfic generally.
I mean, probably the fact Mika is a lazy bum who needs to be nagged into helping with the chores he doesn't like, Atra is a walking ray of sunshine who can handle the most cripplingly dark shit like it's nothing, and Kudelia blushes like a tomato over intimate stuff.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
Well canonically --
The legal team has informed me this is the kind of behaviour that will get my kneecaps turned into castanets so --
Mika is surprisingly easy to picture shacking up with virtually anyone (he's like Shino in that regard), but the right answer is Hush. Just your average disabled mobile suit pilot and his service dog.
Kudelia . . . honestly, there is something in the idea of her and Orga as a couple, given the few times they get to work in sync on-screen.
And Atra . . . hmm. No one person per se but she'd fit right in, working with the Turbines.
My happily ever after for them:
Mika and Atra run a farm while Kudelia commutes to her job taking down the government. Not that I'd change a thing about the actual ending, mind you.
who is the big spoon/little spoon:
Kudelia is the big spoon by default. I don't think she minds.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity:
Cooking together, eating together, bullying Mika into helping with the washing up together.

My thoughts on daemyra in this episode as part 2 of my mini rant.
disclaimer: I adore daemyra. Me being salty over this episode has nothing to do with the actors or the ship itself. My main issue is the writing of the show.
I've seen many people loving this episode and I'm genuinely happy for them. But since I didn't I need to vent and get it out of my chest.
So please do not read this if you don't want me to ruin your fun and enjoyment.
.
.
.
Let's start with the amount of times Daemon and Rhaenyra have interacted; their first scene is in ep1 when Rhaenyra meeting Daemon in secret in the throne room.
Tumblr media
Immediately we see there's a playful banter between the two even, and it's the first time we see Daemon gifting her something.
Tumblr media
They see each other again in the tournament but they spoke two words so I'm not counting (they still have the playfulness from before though)
Tumblr media
The second actual interaction is when Daemon steals the dragon egg and Rhaenyra goes to dragon stone in ep2. She's able to talk sense to him and avoid the bloodshed he and Otto were going to have.
Tumblr media
In that scene Rhaenyra challenges him to kill her since she's the one who stands on his way to the throne and his response was giving her the egg. It's very clear that Daemon doesn't want to harm her and she's not the actual reason for his anger.
Tumblr media
In episode 3 there are no interactions nor mentions since Daemon is fighting in the Stepstones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And finally, we come in episode 4. They talk again for the first time after years when they're away from the king and everyone else
Rhaenyra questions his return and notices his change and he her maturity. They speak about the concept of marriage and Rhaenyras' feelings over it.
They once more have the teasing energy they already had in ep1 and Daemon constantly looks at her very fondly.
Tumblr media
He later offers her a night of freedom and adventure and we all know how that goes. So why am I salty? First of all, there's no leading up to them being physical and actually expressing their attraction to one another.
Where is the courtship? the seduction? them falling in love?
Yes, they're obviously attractive to each other but they barely spent any time together. The moments I mentioned above were merely minutes, we don't see them spending time, doing activities together etc
(The reason I'm not counting their night out is because that night was supposed to be their peak.)
In the book Daemon comes back to her with gifts, he reads to her, eats with her, makes her laugh, they go flying together.
THEY. SPEND. TIME. TOGETHER
"Princess Rhaenyra was a different matter. Daemon spent long hours in her company, enthralling her with tales of his journeys and battles. He gave her pearls and silks and books and a jade tiara said once to have belonged to the Empress of Leng, read poems to her, dined with her, hawked with her, sailed with her, entertained her by making mock of the greens at court, the “lickspittles” fawning over Queen Alicent and her children. He praised her beauty, declaring her to be the fairest maid in all the Seven Kingdoms. Uncle and niece began to fly together almost daily, racing Syrax against Caraxes to Dragonstone and back. "
For the life of me I cannot understand how everybody is eating it up, because even without the book context it's very clear they rushed them to move things forward - which leads us to the next conclusion: the writing is annoyingly rushed.
Do y'all realize that Daemon hasn't been able to stay in King's landing for 1 freaking day without getting kicked out? 😭
I was always sus with the number 10 episodes the show was meant to have and while I understand the need for timeskip in every ep, the reason why the dance of dragon was such a mess was due to the relationship /dynamic the characters had before it.
We don't see these relationship being freshed out and developed because the writers try to move the story increasingly fast and it bothers the hell out of me.
This is something that every character suffers from in the show btw, not just daemyra. But Daemon and Rhaenyra are my favorites and I really wanted their story to be shown without jumping them over.
I won't even talk about the characters individually because the way they butcher them and water them down actually hurts.
And to save you from asking "Then why are you watching?" Because I adore Fire & Blood and all the characters were legit very interesting.
I was hoping to have a good adaptation but my hopes are dying down. I'm trying very hard to separate the show canon entirely to make it easier but yeah, that episode pissed me off to no end.

Creature of the night
xxx-wounded-angel-xxx asked:
Hi! Could i please get a poly! Lost boys with a S/O who's into romantic/vampire goth fashion? Like high pants with poet shirts, or dark velvet dresses with lace? They expect her to be elaborate, distinguished all of the time until they see her in the pit of some metal/punk rock show having the time of her life.
Tumblr media
They had been fawning over you for quite some time.
You were still fairly new, something fun to play with. Though you had quickly become more than that.
You had already piqued their interest when you had moved into their sire's old mansion, the great gothic building looming over the ocean had been abandoned for a few years.
Even better, you were theirs by fate. Your eyes had met on your first night at the boardwalk and they were hooked. Unfortunately you were less than pleased to have four arrogant biker boys stalking you wherever you went.
The only benefit was that no one bothered you, and those that did showed up on missing posters the next week.
Being the being you were, you had an inkling as to what the boys might be. Not that you minded of course, finding it rather charming, only hoping they didn't intend to use you as a late night snack.
Every night they would find you, sometimes you would see them, other times like when you were at home they would watch on. When you were hidden far from other humans they liked to mess with you, at first thinking you would be terrified as they knocked about the exterior of your home, instead of being overjoyed as you held a seance in order to have a rational discussion with the ghost you assumed was haunting you.
After a few weeks of teasing touches, eyes crossing, paths colliding coincidentally, you finally spoke to them. Your voice was like honey, a siren pulling them, bending them to their every will.
From that moment on, they were addicted, and you were equally enamored by their overwhelming presence. But you were so formal sometimes, still clouded by anxiety and unable to completely let loose with your chosen ones.
Tonight they had hoped to get a little wild with you, Paul having disappeared into the crowd to stock up on something good to smoke.
"Where is she," Marko was growing restless, hands clenching around his fluffy handlebars, "they said they would meet us an hour ago."
Paul was returning, slinking through the large crowds.
Dwayne frowned, looking out into the crowd, trying to catch sight of you. He was the most protective, something of a mother hen, and despite how much of a firecracker you could be he still worried about those on the boardwalk who wouldn't miss the opportunity to accost you when the boys weren't there.
The tall blonde had finally arrived and the grin he had been boasting quickly disappeared from his face in favour of a scowl, quite disappointed at your lack of presence among the rest of the pack, "I was gone an hour, where the fuck-"
David was quick to interrupt him, flicking his cigarette to the ground and stubbing it out with his toe, we don't know, he climbed onto his bike and signaled the others to follow. The four of them quickly pulled out of the boardwalk and descended upon the roads, choosing to use the soulbond to hunt you down.
They followed the trail down the seafront, coming to a stop in one of the worser parts of town that was known for being active all day and night, also a place with fairly unsavory characters living there.
"Why would they be out in a place like this..." Marko was getting twitchy, hands clenching and nose sniffing the air to catch a wiff of you. He shot up and turned a corner when he finally caught something, catching the others off guard who quickly turned to follow him, stopping outside of an abandoned factory where music was playing loudly from.
You were at a rave. A rave in an abandoned building. In the worst part of town.
God, Dwayne's hair was going to be grey by the end of the night.
"Come on boys, lets go," Davids expression was positively murderous as he led them up a fire exit, forcing the door open and walking along an upper balcony that looked out above the crowd, searching for you like a hound out of hell.
It was hard, with the lights flashing, music blaring, and hundreds of different smells clouding their senses it was near impossible to find you. But they could feel you, sense your emotions and catch flickers of your mind.
"Marko, Dwayne," he nodded at the two of them, sending them down and into the crowd whilst Pauls eyes were used more purposefully up above, if anyone looked up they would have seen two sets of pale orbs scanning the crowds like mad men.
"There-" Davids eyes shot to where Paul's were set towards, widening slightly at the sight of you moving with the crowd.
It was...different to how they had seen you. Your clothes were much less regal, still fairly old fashioned but more costum-ey. The top you wore was a deep purple, exposing your shoulders and baggy, looking much like a pirate when combined with the black-lacily-decorated corset flush to your body. They then realized the shirt became a dress, one which barely reached your knees. The knee high boots almost took David out.
To your left boys, David nodded down at the two of them in the crowd, sending them to their unsuspecting mate who was dancing with their friend.
-
You had been having the time of your life, surrounded by pulsing bass and your less than lucid friends, deep in a pit and letting the environment overwhelm you. These plans had been made weeks a go, you had told your boys weeks ago.
But of course, they hadn't registered it, too occupied with messing around and teasing you to fully listen.
One moment you had been holding hands with your close friend, Marissa, the next you were being tugged away through the crowd by two sets of cold hands.
"H-hey! What the fuck let me go-"
You were interrupted by a deep chuckle, finding yourself pressed against a chest, dark hair surrounding you like a cloak as a golden figure stepped in front of you.
"Nuh uh, you got some explaining to do little bat," you pushed Marko away, growling when he simply gripped your wrists and pressed your fists against him, grinning at you with an evil look in his eye, "we waiting for you love, Paul was real sad about it, right Paul?"
The tall blonde joined you, followed closely by David who was staring at you hungrily, his soft pale lips became a pout as he looked down at you, "I was Marko~" he pinched your cheeks teasingly, "what you doin' in this part of town huh?"
"I told you-"
David tutted, boxing you in with the other three, it was only making you angrier, "I think we would have remembered that kit."
"Uh huh, yet here you are, I told you weeks ago!" You batted Pauls hands away as they fiddled with your corset, kicking Marko when his fingers danced dangerously close to the laces holding it together, "Remember, when that rock band came to play- ay!- Marko stop that!"
He had gone for them again, huffing and stealing you from Dwayne to pull you to his own chest, burying his fingers into your hair and breathing you in. The other three were silent, their minds working overtime whilst silently watching you and Marko tussle. God you looked good-
"Jesus christ!-" you had freed yourself, only slightly, Markos hands were still squeezing your waist as he sought the soft flesh beneath the stiff article covering you, "The Raiders concert! I told you, and don't say I didn't or I swear to-"
Paul paled, backing away a couple steps, realising you were right. The other three soon followed, now realising they had invoked your wrath, eying the long black talons you had warily.
"Uh- babe, I uh, might've remembered that-" you stomped Paul's foot, the solid heel of the boot digging into his toes, "ah shit! I'm sorry!-"
You were unrelenting, smacking his arm like a mother scorned by her son, now cursing him out in your mother tongue.
"I swear, if you idiots don't let me enjoy this night I will blue ball you for the rest of the year!" it was only July, don't say that.
The three who were watching on raised their hands, letting you pass by them and back to your friend.
After huddling back together and coming up with a plan to regain your favour they returned to you, offering you unlimited drinks for both you and your friend, and giving you gentle affection as you danced.

HELLO HI HELLO YES
Me n my friend @pinkimark have been working on a little project called Hello Fareinn!! It's going to be a visual novel game where you make friends instead of it being a dating sim, tho rn we're just working on worldbuilding and making the characters
Info about each character and the world so far is under the cut :Dc
Fareinn is a small middle-of-nowhere town in Ohio, built right on top of a once-magical haven for all kinds of fantasy creatures. The build-up of magic energy is insanely strong there, and thus the remnants of fantasy/supernatural creatures in modern days are drawn to this town, and any magic traits are heightened significantly. The town itself has a high rate of cryptid sightings and strange events-- it even has a magic wishing well that supposedly curses whoever wishes there. Overall it's a strange place, but it's good for our main character.
Mayumi - Mayumi is the protagonist, a non-binary bi/ace Filipino-American teenager moving to the town of Fareinn from California. Mayumi has been hurt by friends in the past, and their parents don't really take the time to actually listen to them and their needs, including ignoring their diagnosed depression. Though, they do have things that make them happy; they have an obsession with the supernatural and cryptids, and their biggest hobby is photography. Luckily, Fareinn is a town with a fairly fantastical history.
Carmella - The last living Fawn in Fareinn, living in a hidden cottage deep in the forest and avoiding the town more often than not. She's distrusting of humans, and is terrified when she gets spotted (she's the source of a big chunk of Fareinn's cryptid sightings), but really she's curious and wants to learn more about them, hence why she keeps returning. She's also trans
Cadence - Cadence is the son of a rich business-owner family. He's often used as advertisement thanks to his young face, and has learned to dedicate himself fully to his family's business and the duties that come with it. However, as he gets sent out on his own to find places to build on their company for, he struggles more and more with having his own interests and being his own person. He gets sent to Fareinn, and there he meets Mayumi, someone who wholeheartedly loves what they love and seemingly does whatever they want, and as they bond Cadence learns how to let himself be him.
Momo - One of a pair, Momo is a Japanese American demigirl who "died" in the local wishing well over a decade ago. I put "died" in quotes because, really, she's only got some ghost traits that flicker on and off at random, but they haven't aged once since the transformation happened. See, a while back they had been searching for the wishing well with her long-time friend Kiriya, more as a fun legend-hunting trip rather than actually wanting to wish in it. So they both were surprised to see that the well was Real and that the one who grants the wishes in the first place is some edgy dead kid. Long story short, the two ended up making a half-assed wish to be cryptids, and since the wishing well kid is actually an asshole he cursed them to be half-ghosts and separated them. So now, Momo and Kiriya wander the chambers around the well looking for each other. Momo, when stressed, tends to actively try to ignore her stressed feelings and they end up welling up until they explode. This resulted in us giving them fire powers!
I gtg right now, this would take forever to finish sadly and I need to head out. I'll continue explaining the characters later tho, me n Pinki are proud of them :D

Character: Kageyama Tobio × Fem Reader
Concept: Kageyama being the awkward babie that he is, has no idea how to kiss. Luckily, his girl's there to help him out (wholesome fluff!!)
A/N: So hiii,,, I finally took the plunge and decided to post my first fic here. Idk if anyone will actually read or like it, but I rly enjoyed writing this one 😅 so hope u will too
☆☆A mostly self-indulgent Haikyuu!! Fanfiction☆☆
Tumblr media
The ringing of the school bell signifying the end of final period had always been a highlight for the students of Karasuno High. Excited chatters filled the hallways as students pooled out of their classrooms, eager to pursue after-school activities with some making a beeline towards the exits.
As soon as the bell rang, Kageyama would usually head straight to the gym for volleyball practice, racing occasionally with Hinata as the 'quick-attack' duo turned every mundane activity into an opportunity to best the other. However, with club activities cancelled for the day, Kageyama had but one destination.
Completely oblivious to the wistful stares he got from some of the female students, his attention was fixated on only one of them as she made her way out of the classroom, her expression brightening as soon as she set her eyes on him.
His girlfriend.
Him and Y/N had known each other since middle school. What had formerly been the latter's unrequited love had now blossomed into a romantic relationship, with Kageyama eventually finding himself enamored by her as they reached high school. A couple of weeks have passed since then and everything was going great, if he could say so himself. Despite his intimidating demeanor, Kageyama did his utmost best to keep her happy, however, given his track record of social interactions, he was initially convinced that he would jeopardize their relationship. But, with Y/N’s assurance to accept him for who he is, his worries eventually dissipated.
Kageyama allowed himself the most subtle of smiles as she made her way to where he stood, looking up at him with bright eyes that he had come to adore. Completely unaware of the stares the other students threw their way, the couple continued to gaze at each other. "Tobio! No practice today?" She asked as she smiled at him.
"No, the gym's being cleaned. So, I was wondering..." He trailed off, fidgeting ever so slightly. "Do you want to go and hang out somewhere?"
At that exact moment, Hinata joined the forming group of interlopers as he witnessed his intimidating partner and sworn rival interact fondly with his significant other. Pretty soon, Tanaka and Nishinoya came across the crowd, easily spotting their tangerine-haired teammate. "What's up, Shoyo?" Nishinoya inquired.
Nodding in acknowledgement at his senpais, Hinata gestured to the couple. "It seems like Kageyama's asking her out on a date."
Tanaka let out an exasperated sigh. "It's still amazing that THAT guy managed to get a girlfriend before we did."
Sympathizing with his teammate, Nishinoya placed his hand atop Tanaka's shoulder. "And it seems like it just made his popularity shoot up. How unfair the world we live in is."
Shifting their attention back to the couple, Y/N happily responded to Kageyama's invitation. "Sure! How about at my house? My parents are out working so we'd have the house to ourselves the entire afternoon."
At her rather bold suggestion, jaws dropped in disbelief and with Kageyama completely unaware of its implications, nonchalantly accepted her invitation. "Sounds great."
Gleefully responding to his concurrence, Y/N excused herself and headed to the restroom, paying no attention to the incredulous stares that followed her. As soon as she was out of earshot, Hinata and Nishinoya scrambled towards him.
"KAGEYAMAAA!" Yelling in chorus, the duo tackled him as Tanaka proceeded to disperse the crowd.
Kageyama steadied his footing at the sudden attack, shooting his teammates an irked expression. "What was that for?"
Tanaka soon joined the trio and placed his arm around Kageyama's shoulder. "I can't believe it. Our Kageyama's finally entering the ultimate stage of manhood."
Puzzled by the sentiment, Kageyama jumped in surprise as Nishinoya slapped his lower back, his expression donning that of a proud father. "While we still can't stomach the idea of you getting there first, we salute you, comrade."
"What are you all getting so worked up about?"
Hinata gave his partner a knowing look. "You're about to hang out in a very private place with someone you're in a relationship with, it's basically a perfect situation to do THAT."
It suddenly dawned on Kageyama, his eyes widening as he began to panic, the trio watching him in disbelief. "Seriously, Baka-yama?!" Hinata exclaimed. "We both may be volleyball idiots but I can't believe that I know about more stuff in that area than you."
"Dumbass, don't compare me with the likes of you!" He growled as he harshly pinched Hinata's cheeks. In a state of uncharacteristic panic, Kageyama began pacing back and forth. "W-what should I do? It's not my intention to do THAT, it's way too early!"
"Let this senpai give you some wisdom." Nishinoya slapped Kageyama's shoulder, stilling his movements. "Listen, nothing good will come out of overthinking matters. You both just started dating after all, just trust your gut and let things flow naturally."
"Nishinoya-san..." Kageyama trailed off in thought as he digested the advice his senpai gave him.
"Noya-san SO COOL!" Hinata and Tanaka fawned over him in admiration.
At that moment, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi passed by the group. Without ceasing his stride, Tsukishima let out a lengthy sigh. "Nishinoya-san, you say that but got no experience to back it up."
Something snapped in Nishinoya as the cold, hard, and undeniable truth was given to him straight. "Ha? The hell did you say? Tsukishima, you bastard!" Nishinoya attempted to lunge at him, however, the trio scrambled to hold the seething libero back. Yamaguchi waved sheepishly at his teammates as Tsukishima held up a peace sign with his fingers which only seemed to rile up Nishinoya more.
Just then, Y/N emerged from the restroom and took in the shenanigans unfolding before her, amused yet relieved at the thought of Kageyama finally finding people he could feel comfortable with. It was a stark difference from how he was back in middle school as his peers isolated the so-called "King". Despite his reputation, Y/N saw through Kageyama and witnessed a sensitive yet unwavering person beneath. It was what drew her to him in the first place.
Shaking her head at how sentimental she had gotten, she approached the group and cleared her throat to catch their attention. She had become accustomed to the rowdiness of the volleyball team, especially with the uproar they caused when Kageyama formally introduced her to them. "Hi Hinata, Nishinoya-senpai, and Tanaka-senpai. Mind if I steal Tobio away?"
"Y/N-chan!" Hinata greeted cheerfully, letting go of Nishinoya's arm to push Kageyama towards her. "Sure, he's all yours."
He stumbled a bit as Y/N held his arm to steady him, giggling at the dagger-like glare he shot his partner. "Since when were you on a first name basis with her, dumbass?"
"Well then, we're off!" She chimed and pulled Kageyama away before he made any attempt to lunge at Hinata, waving gleefully at his teammates. "See you around!"
Bowing slightly at his senpais and shooting one last threatening glare at Hinata, Kageyama let Y/N lead him to the exits. Looking back once more, his expression turned to that of disdain at the enthusiastic thumbs-up his teammates gave him.
Once the couple was out of earshot, Nishinoya let out a whistle. "Damn, she's got Kageyama wrapped around her finger, huh? He better treasure her 'cause a girl like that's a keeper."
Nodding in agreement, the three of them fondly watched the retreating couple, silently cheering their setter on for what's to come.
*****
"Pardon the intrusion!" Kageyama rigidly yelled to no one in particular as Y/N ushered him into her empty home. Settling himself down on the living room sofa while she headed to the kitchen, Kageyama tightly clasped his hands on his lap, not daring to move a single muscle.
To say that he was nervous was an understatement. He never felt this much nervousness before, not even during official matches as it only exhilarated him. But then, having devoted most of his life to volleyball, the dynamics of dating was somewhat uncharted territory for him.
Calm down, calm down. You're both alone in her home, with nothing to disturb you. It's just like what that idiot said, it's the ideal set-up for THAT. Is Y/N even aware? She invited me here so does that mean she wants to do...THAT?! Since when has she been that straight forward? And is she expecting me to initiate something?
Wait, don't get too ahead, that may not be her intention and maybe it's just that Tanaka-san, Nishinoya-san, and Hinata's minds are in the gutter and I'm letting them get to me. But what if she really wants to go THERE? Shit...I don't know what to do! Maybe I should look it up and do some research while she's-
"Tobio," Y/N’s sudden voice roused him from his spiraling thoughts as he flinched in surprise, nearly toppling the contents of the tray in her hands. "Hey! Geez, why are you so jumpy?" Setting down the tray of snacks on the table, she sat down next to him, and - to Kageyama's relief - allotted a reasonable distance between them as he definitely didn't want her finding out that he was on the verge of losing it.
But then again, this was his girlfriend. With a seemingly uncanny ability to see through his stoic persona, she just simply knew how to read and handle him. "So you're nervous, huh?"
Kageyama's eyes widened as he felt himself starting to sweat. "N-no, I'm not," he stuttered, practically giving himself away.
Letting out a nervous chuckle herself, Y/N placed her hands atop her lap, her posture stiffening. "Uh...well to be honest, I invited you here not with the purest of intentions."
Kageyama felt himself freeze, his face burning at her revelation. He kept his gaze trained on hers as he mustered up the courage to say something, anything.
Shit, so she definitely wants to do THAT.
As Kageyama kept staring at her dubiously, Y/N eventually caught on to what has rendered him speechless. Reevaluating her words, it was her turn to become flustered as she realized that they were barreling towards a huge misunderstanding. "N-no! Not THAT impure! Geez, it's way too soon for that! Ugh, how do I say this..."
Kageyama couldn't help but audibly sigh in relief, feeling like a huge weight was lifted off of his shoulders. But if it's not about that, what's got her so bothered?
Keen on finding out the answer, he looked at her expectantly, watching as she fiddled with the hem of her skirt. Glancing momentarily at Kageyama, her cheeks burned as she forced herself to elaborate on her woes. "Well, it's just that we've been dating for a few weeks now and all we've done is hold hands."
As she fidgeted uncomfortably, Kageyama was intrigued as he prompted her to continue. "What do you mean?"
Okay Y/N, so far so good. This has been bothering you for some time now, just say it!
Tightening her grip on the hem of her skirt, she couldn't bring herself to look at Kageyama as she turned away, hiding her flustered expression from view. "I mean we haven't...k-kissed yet. So I was kind of overthinking lately that maybe...you didn't want to do that with me...?"
There! I finally said it, all that practice in front of the mirror seemed to pay off! But why isn't he saying anything?
As silence engulfed the room, Y/N subtly peered at Kageyama, taken aback at the aghast expression on his face. "Idiot! Why would you think that?"
"Hey!"
Sighing in defeat, Kageyama eventually felt his cheeks heating up once more as he turned away, hiding his face in his hands. He couldn't help but feel guilty since his girlfriend was compelled to harbor those thoughts...well...because of him. After pausing momentarily, it was his turn to shy away. "S-sorry. It's not you, I promise. I've never been in a relationship before so I have no idea how to...k-kiss. And, I was afraid that if I try to do it and I do it wrong...you might not like me anymore."
There! You finally said it, Tobio - albeit quite lamely.
At his unexpected confession, it was Y/N's turn to gape at him as she processed his words.
The hell? What the hell was that cuteness?!
Kageyama usually carried himself with confidence and a subtle tinge of superiority. Seeing this whole new side of him was pretty bad for her heart, as her pride also swelled at the thought that she was one of the few people able to witness this endearing side of him. "Awww, Tobio!" Y/N swooned, scooching closer as she gave him a sideways-hug. Kageyama jumped at the sudden contact as he looked down at his girlfriend, his cheeks seeming to grow even warmer. "That awkwardness of yours is what makes you so adorable!"
"A-adorable?!" He reiterated aghastly.
She put a little distance between them once more which allowed her eyes to met his. "Yeah, I said what I said. So what if you don't know how to kiss? That won't change my feelings for you. I told you, right? That I'll always like you."
It was still pretty amazing how much her words affected him as he felt his insecurities gradually crumble away. Unable to find the right words, Kageyama wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close instead, hoping that that simple gesture was more than enough to convey his feelings.
After a few moments of tranquil silence, Y/N pulled back from the hug and faced him, her cheeks donning a bright shade of pink. "Say, Tobio…w-would you like to try to kiss?"
Gulping audibly, Kageyama shifted to mirror her sitting position. "O-okay." Completely at a loss at what to do, he shut his eyes tightly. With lips subtly pursed, he awaited for the much-anticipated contact, but instead, Y/N's giggling caused his eyes to fly open. "Why are you laughing?!"
"You're too adorable! Geez what am I going to do with you?" She tried to say through her laughter, stopping as soon as she noticed the irked expression he threw her.
Now that's just unfair. He's even cuter!
Clearing her throat, Y/N decided to take matters into her own hands. She scooted closer to him and recounting on all the "research" she's done, she clasped both of his hands in hers. "Where do you want to touch me?" Letting out a shaky breath, she guided his hands towards her face. "Here?" Following suit, Kageyama then found his hands on either side of her waist in one smooth motion. "Or here?"
His hands were shaking pretty badly due to nervousness, and while he was sure she could notice, she didn't pay it any attention. "T-the face," he managed to reply, gently cradling her face in his hands as the space in-between them decreased.
His hands were huge and warm against her cheeks as she leaned into its warmth. Fixating her eyes on his, Y/N proceeded to instruct him. "Now, let's try moving our faces closer until our lips touch. And close your eyes, idiot!"
Both of their hearts were going haywire as the distance between them decreased. Y/N’s eyes have fluttered close and Kageyama followed suit, steeling himself as he awaited for contact. With their lips mere centimeters away, Kageyama felt his nose bump against hers and he drew back in a panic, blushing furiously as he did. "I-I'm sorry, I messed up!"
Ugh, I swear to God this cuteness of his will definitely be the death of me someday!
Refraining herself from giggling at his embarrassed state, Y/N took his hands and placed them once more on either side of her face. "Let's try again, and uh, let's move our heads in the opposite direction. I'll go left, you go right."
Unable to speak as the nerves began building up once more, he simply nodded, the atmosphere suddenly shifting as they locked gazes. Little by little, their faces drew closer and closer, and Kageyama took the opportunity to admire her features amid their current proximity. Her eyes were squeezed shut, her cheeks faintly tinted, and her lips parted slightly as they anticipated his. At that moment, he found her utterly captivating and his eyes fluttered close. With all the courage he could muster, he finally pressed his lips on hers.
The contact was subtle, featherlight, and only lasted a second, but it was more than enough to send their hearts into overdrive. He slowly drew back and found her staring at him with wide eyes, her breathing hitching as she finally came into terms with reality.
H-he actually did it...we kissed. We finally kissed. All those shoujo manga describing the thrill of the first kiss - it comes nothing close to actually experiencing it for yourself.
Mirroring her flustered state, Kageyama slightly increased the distance between them, his eyes darting away from hers. "H-how was that?"
Dropping his hands from her face, Y/N's fingers lightly grazed the spot where his lips met hers, recounting on the enthralling sensation. "My heart feels like it's about to explode."
"Same here," he mumbled, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly, still quite embarrassed.
"Uhm, can we do it a bit harder?" She requested in a voice so soft he almost didn't catch it. But he did hear, and his heart began racing uncontrollably as a result. Y/N sensed what she assumed was his apprehension and chuckled awkwardly, berating herself for being a bit too wanton. "Is that a weird thing to ask?"
"It's not." Kageyama's reply was a bit too immediate in an attempt to reassure her, but he once more found himself spiraling internally.
Letting out a sigh of relief and with every ounce of confidence she could muster, Y/N wrapped her arms around Kageyama's neck and pulled him towards her, their faces in such close proximity. Too surprised to respond, he simply stared back at her, his hands naturally finding their way around her waist. Her breath tickled his lips, whispering ever so slightly against them. "Follow my lead."
Their lips met once again, but it was different from the one they shared earlier. With an increase in pressure, he could feel just how soft her lips were, and pretty soon, he felt them moving against his. His heart literally close to bursting, he recalled the advice Nishinoya shared with him.
Trust my gut, huh?
Finally letting go of all of his inhibitions, he allowed his lips to move against hers naturally, his eyes fluttering shut as he reveled in the sensations. It was unbelievably sweet yet exhilarating at the same time, both of them losing themselves into the kiss. Neither wanted the moment to end but Y/N was the first to pull away as she panted slightly. Eyes fluttering open, they both smiled sheepishly, their foreheads pressing against each other. "So, how was it?"
"Better, I liked the second one better," Kageyama stated, no longer feeling as much embarrassed as he did earlier. "Where did you learn to do that?"
At his inquiry, Y/N drew back slightly and dropped her gaze, fidgeting once more. "Uh...research?" Her vague answer seemed a bit suspicious, and with Kageyama shooting her an inquisitive look, she groaned and buried her face in a pillow. "Fine! I read a lot of shoujo manga, okay? You happy?!"
"Pfftt," Kageyama couldn't help but sputter out and pretty soon, he was laughing uncontrollably as he clutched his stomach.
Too annoyed by his mirth to swoon over how adorable Kageyama was when he laughed like this, she grabbed the pillow and began hitting him. "So what of it?! The kiss turned out fine didn't it? Stupid Tobio! Idiot! Idiot!" All of a sudden, Kageyama stilled her movements as he leaned over and pecked her lips, both of them blushing profusely at the sudden gesture.
"Hey Y/N, I'd like it if maybe we practice some more?"
"You sneaky little..." Still slightly reeling from his surprise attack, Y/N looked away in embarrassment. "I'd have no problems with that...I guess."
And with that, the rest of their afternoon was filled with banter, laughs, and with a few stolen kisses here and there.

I don't think the problem is fans don't like selfish characters - after all Mike is selfless a lot of the time and there're much more self-absorbed characters in the show. Fans just have favourite 'perfect cinnamon rolls' absolved from all responsibility and everyone else exists only to fawn over them or be hated on. And with ST, the show smh plays into this by setting up Mike as everyone's support and, when he is not, for a change, letting other characters being unapologetic dicks to him.
But if fans just ignore the fact that their faves are flawed, then surely that means they’re going to look for the faults in other characters as a means to justify their own faves’ behavior, no? And that it’s gonna be easier to spot a someone’s flaws if you’re not actively rooting for them – rather, you’re in direct opposition to them because seeing things from their point of view means the person you’re defending might actually be in the wrong, too?
Admittedly, I don’t think the fandom pays much (or any) attention as to which characters are selfish until they actually do something that displeases them… which they should because some of the most overhyped, over-praised characters in the show – most often their “perfect cinnamon roll” faves – also happen to be some of the most self-centered. Mike is no different, only he gets more hate from the fandom because the people his selfishness directly affects are fan favourites, so if his motivations don’t line up with theirs, then he’s just seen as an ass. I’ll get shit for this, but it’s gotta be said: Hopper and Will are highkey just as selfish as Mike in the third season (at the very least during the first half in Will’s case), and yet they don’t ever have to apologise for their wants.
Will’s almost egocentrism is glossed over by his fans because he’s been through trauma and he continues to be treated like a baby even though he’s just as flawed as every other character – despite his character literally saying that he doesn’t want to be babied, which should be a clear sign that he’s not to be treated as being *perfect* by the audience. “Will just wanted to play D&D and his friends were being dicks.” They weren’t, though. Not really. One of them was going through something personal, and the other was just being a supportive friend, which is something Will could have at least tried to do. He tags along, sure, but he complains the whole time, and he shows zero care for Mike’s feelings. It’s understandable that he didn’t want to grow up in quite the same way the other boys did but, at some point, you’ve got to put your own feelings aside when the one (1) friend who’d supported you in your time of crisis is now hurting in return. Hell, the boys even try to play for Will’s benefit, and they wanted to keep playing when Will got upset. They tried. It just so happened that Mike’s needs > Will’s wants, in that moment.
It wouldn’t have killed him to just wait until they resolved the whole “El dumped me” thing to bring up the idea of playing again. Instead, he victimises himself even more (which the fandom does, too), and Mike is villainised (which the fandom will do twice – I’ve already touched on the Max issue – over the course of the season because, for some reason, the writers wanted to put him through the wringer). Mike is portrayed as selfish (to Will fans) because he doesn’t want to play a game, and because he makes a rude comment that, essentially, is just something kids say when they’re being petty. Will is seen as nothing but blameless: he just wants to be doe-eyed and play a board game. In the eyes of the fandom: Will (1), Mike (0).
Hopper’s selfishness is a little more obvious, but it’s brushed off for the most part because he’s the main authority figure. He’s allowed to be gruff, and demanding, and threatening teenagers because he’s the chief of police, right? Well… It makes sense for him to be wary of Mike and El’s relationship, but he doesn’t exactly try to drive a wedge between them – no matter how small – purely because he has El’s best interests at heart. He’s sick of it; of Mike always being around, of them being all over each other, of them growing up. He’s tired and irritable, and he’s too prideful to even talk to them in a calm manner – no one can convince me Mike being a little shit threw Hopper off his game that much. He should have spoken to them, or at least explained why they needed space. But he went about it in a way that worked for him, and not for them. His weird dynamic with Joyce in season three isn’t even wholly enjoyable either, because he spends half the season pestering her about a date and acting jealous because she talked to another man.
Joyce having other plans didn’t work for him, and El and Mike’s constant clinginess didn’t work for him. But because he’s the adult lead who takes care of everyone, and because he’s an adult with authority and experience, we’re supposed to side with him when he acts like this; no matter if his actions are hurting his daughter’s feelings or if he’s (basically) pressuring a still-grieving woman into a date, so naturally Mike’s problem with the chief is treated like he’s just, you know, whiny and pissy (and so, yes, kind of childishly selfish) that he’s been stopped from seeing his girlfriend… not like a grown man threatened a teenager – with the viewer knowing nothing other than the fact that Hopper wanted Mike gone. (The letter doesn’t come into it until the end.)
Mike is easily one of the most selfless characters on the show but the problem with being a typically giving character is that when he finally acts in his own favour, and does something that he (and he alone) wants, it comes off as being entitled and ignorant to the wants and needs of everyone else…
For the first two seasons, Mike is a helper, Hopper is a leader, and Will is a plot device with a sad story. Naturally, people are drawn to the latter two because they’re respectively portrayed as strong and coddled, and they rely on Mike to bear the weight of everyone else’s everything, even if it means he’s putting his own wants aside. ‘Everyone else’ being the characters that do the exact same thing Mike does in the third season, only they get more general support from the fandom because they’re either babied, respected, or worshipped for being empowering.

For the writing prompt ask meme thing like three ideas came to mind. 48. “Now, just hold on a diddly darn minute.” (Faith and Ines along with any of the other Militesi Weirdos), 17. “I have contemplated becoming a hermit.” (Kazusa, Emina, and Kurasame), 15. “That was a perfect example of how not to do things.” (Charon and probably Qator). Don't have to do all of them, just ideas. :)
Yaaaaasss Type-0 side characters are my weakness
Ingenius, outstanding, brilliant. No, more than brilliant. Perfect. Okay, it was a prototype, but still. It was a damn good prototype. “Now, where’s that one-eyed jerk?” Ines murmured to herself. Qator was probably busy working on important Brigadier General stuff. That wasn’t to say her own work wasn’t just as important; she just didn’t get nearly as much recognition. It didn’t matter. The fruits of her efforts were their own reward. It’d still be nice to show off, though…“How’s the progress on that mech coming?” The familiar voice caused Ines to smirk. “Oh, that? Done last night.” She turned and faced her newfound company, aiming her new invention directly at his chest. “But Colonel, check this out!” Faith stiffened. “N-Now, just hold on a diddly darn minute! When did- How…Put that down!” Ines lowered the gun she’d constructed and bit back a laugh. “Relax, it’s not loaded or anything. And I know how to handle a gun. You know that, don’t you?” Faith sighed. “Yes…I’m aware. Now, go draft some blueprints or something.” Ines adjusted her glasses. “Roger that.”
“I have contemplated becoming a hermit,” Emina said. “Isn’t that Kurasame’s line?” Kazusa asked, only half joking. “Although he’s pretty much already there…Can’t blame him.” Kurasame said nothing, handing another piece of candy to his Tonberry. “Anyway,” Emina continued. “It’s not that I don’t like people. The truth is quite the opposite. But it gets tiring, keeping up this façade and having people fawn over me all the time. Do you know how awkward it is when students confess to me?” “Yes, it’s dreadful to go through,” Kazusa mused. Emina gave him a blank stare. “Kazusa, you drug students on a regular basis and the majority of people who even know you exist actively avoid you. I don’t think you can relate much.” Kazusa raised his hands. “Sheesh, you’re the one who asked.”Emina sighed. “Sorry. Sometimes I just really want to vanish for a while. Maybe if I quit smiling and being super friendly, and took lessons from Kurasame on how to give an intimidating look…” “You’ve got it down better than I do,” Kurasame finally chimed in. “There’s few things more terrifying than a pissed off Emina.” Kazusa smirked. “You heard the man. Want to be hermit, Emina? Just channel that angry look and perfect an unapproachable resting bitch face.”
Brionac’s gargantuan arm smashed through the glass of an upper level. “Oops, my bad,” Charon said into the cockpit’s microphone with no hint of remorse in his voice. “Quit fooling around!” Charlot shouted for the fifth or sixth time that day. “Do you have any idea how much funding a project like this takes? Marshal Cid himself is-” He paused his scolding when a hand rested on his shoulder. “Let me take over,” Qator said. Charlot nodded. “Of course, Brigadier General.”Qator tapped the microphone that Charlot had just been yelling into, and then cleared his throat. “Charon. We’ve been through this.” His voice was calm, but quickly became menacing. “That was a perfect example of how not to do things. Such tomfoolery will not be tolerated here or in any other imperial facility. You will carry out your duties as an officer of the Militesi Empire’s military, and you will not disgrace the efforts and sacrifices of your fellow countrymen by treating this weapon as a toy. Do I make myself clear?”“Yikes,” Charon mumbled before speaking into the cockpit microphone once more. “Roger.”
