The door fell shut behind their friends with a deafening sound. They left them.
“Looks to me like they didn’t even try to save you.”, Whumper’s voice came from behind them.
They slowly turned around and stared at whumper. They couldn’t do more than stare. They left them. Their friends left them. Just like that.
Whumper walked up to them and reached out a hand. “If I were you I’d feel betrayed. I’ve actually been there. And…you don’t have to trust my words but in my opinion you have every right to be angry. I can’t offer you to mend your heart. You know as well as I do that I am not capable of such things. But what I can offer you is payback. A way to show them. Make them regret. And feel your pain.”
They started at Whumper’s hand. Looked up into their eyes. And then, ever so slowly they reached out their hand and took Whumper’s. “Show me.”
“I will. My name’s Caretaker.”
“Whumpee.”
