Everybody should have their own fun, and this isn't trying to harsh anybody's buzz, but I find the impulse to make your own cutesy/badass Replika oc doing funny or heroic or badass things a little odd. Like, that character you designed as a super badass soldier, or well-armed and armored steely eyed cop type... who would they have been built to fight or police exactly? Remember who all those guns and weapons were intended for use on?
I know we're all sick of discourse over who "gets" the game, and I'm by no means scolding anybody for something that harmless, but what's interesting to me is the sense that designing overtly "cool" Replika personas and OCs, complete with the propaganda poster style imagery, feels a little...
I mean, bluntly, it's like the in-world propaganda worked, unironically, on some level, for many people. Kolibris aren't scary, they're whimsical and fun! Storches aren't notably cruel enforcers and chain gang drivers, they're Protektors! Falke isn't a camp commandant, she's a beautiful angel!
The Replikas aren't cool and heroic figures in the reality of the game. They're the carefully crafted organs of a system of control so dreadful it could do what it did to Elster and Ariane. They're victims to that system themselves too, sure - and humanising them is a nuanced and valuable observation of how totalitarian regimes maintain themselves - but that doesn't negate the fact they're also the ones who operate, enforce and perpetuate it, a big part of what the game knows and communicates about such societies. It's notable that the game makes it clear few, if any, of the Replikas actually buy into the Nation as an ideal at all - they enforce it no less pitilessly anyway, incapable or unsafe to imagine anything else.
Their affectations, pasttimes, trinkets, and even affections for each other, all serve to draw a stark contrast to how callously they regard the gestalts they keep suppressed. Their disposability is something they're conscious and fearful of themselves, but fail to recognise as a commonality with the people they brutalise every day, their business as usual. The only grief, tragedy or suffering they acknowledge is their own - they have no regard for any such things in the humans they have... well, dehumanised.
But S-23 Sierpinski was such a hellhole for most of its denizens under "normal" conditions that the nightmare it becomes is arguably an improvement; if only because there are fewer people left now to suffer it. There's a dark poetry here - because the place's banal cruelty is "off camera" to us, it's very naturally less real to us than the grief of the crying Eule. It's only natural, too, to forget how grim the Replikas' purposes are when you don't have to see anyone endure the brunt of it.
And isn't that the very same effect a state like the Nation is seeking in the first place, by disappearing people away to such dark little corners to have it done? In our world, no less than that one.
That works like a kind of propaganda too, not being able to see it - a propaganda of hidden things, as powerful as any poster. A space that's been intentionally left blank.
Kolibris are literal thought police; they intrude on people's very minds, interrogating them to death as a matter of course, with hardly a care either way. The various Protektor classes are functionally concentration camp guards and slave drivers. Falke and Adler are overseeing what amounts to a gulag, one so unimaginably awful Ariane preferred to spend years of her life alone in space to the prospect of being sent there, and inevitably worked to death, far underground.
I think there's a reason we never see one of those posters for LSTRs in game. How could we be asked to forgive our own if we ever did?

I feel like people are conflating continuing the joke with invading their privacy… like no one is stalking them or sneaking pictures or bothering their friends and family asking about them we’re just continuing their joke that they set up within our fandom space. Which is exactly as we should be doing imo
yeah exactly. like i think when outsiders dont understand that we are in on the bit that makes some sense, but when it's PHANNIES especially phannies who joined post coming out???? it seems strange.
oh i didnt really explain why this kinda behavior is homophobic as well. (disclaimer: me calling an action homophobic is not the same as me calling an individual homophobic.) a lot of ppl use pj and sophie as a direct comparison straight couple example. pj has only directly called sophie his girlfriend once, and it was in the context reading someone's poorly written article about him lmao. otherwise, its known that they met in uni, have lived together since then, have worked on nearly every kickthepj project together, and generally their on screen energy is really sweet and funny. they also have a cat together and call themselves a family. it's not a stretch to say they're together in the slightest. in fact, it is just natural to assume so.
BUT when dnp who are now publicly out, have been very open about how much they mean to each other, have lived together since dan was in uni, have worked on nearly every project together (even in solo projects the other would help out behind the scenes), have a clear on camera chemistry together, had co-parented a fish, a pigeon, and several houseplants and possibly plan to get a dog or other pet in the future... suddenly it's wrong to assume anything.
i understand the fear that may come from having been in the phandom since when they were closeted and it was much harder to talk about it without seeming like youre aligned with stalkers or ppl who harassed their families or dnp themselves to reveal more information, but thats not the case anymore, and ESPECIALLY if you discovered them post-gay, it's such a flimsy argument to say anyone is breaching privacy in that way.
now there are still some like unspoken basic decency and boundary rules. you probably shouldnt be @'ing them in your smutfics or even your pretty innocent theories about them being super duper in gay love. dnp themselves understand that if they aren't being @ tagged in something, it's probably not meant for them to see, and even acknowledged that in the twitter memes video. but us talking about it in our own spaces, especially on tumblr where they arent on as much but also on twitter BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THEYRE NOT MEANT TO SEE IT, is not the same as being like hey @/danielhowell @/amazingphil do you fuck nasty i gotta know if you fuck nasty. (but even if i were to do that, i feel like its very clearly a joke lmao)
so like just dont worry about it, if you still personally dont like seeing ppl talk abt this stuff regardless, you can mute and block people, you can blacklist tags, you can curate your own experience to fit your needs and you dont need to harass other people into suiting your needs.

Hey 😊
What are some tk moments for you that made you completely sure of them being together? Like those moments where you can just cannot pretend that they aren't a couple 💜
Hi 😊 hmm, when I think about it, rather than specific moments, my belief is based on all the moments, big and small, that have happened over the years. They might not mean much on their own, but when you put them all together, it becomes quite clear and creates something beautiful. But there are some that stand out to me, and these are a few of them.
▪︎The ily sign during their Chile concert in 2017 - it's the way Tae subtly shows Jungkook the sign behind his back and the way Jungkook acknowledges it by gently nudging Tae's hand with his own. I just think it's such a raw and tender moment between them. Even though they're standing on a stage in front of thousands of people you can tell that moment was meant to be something private between them. It wasn't fanservice, I don't think it was even really meant to be seen at all. Tae was worried about Jungkook because he wasn't feeling well, and showing him ily was his way of letting him know that he was there for him.
▪︎Jungkook asking Tae, "Am I your friend?" During Summer package 2018 - although it's more about Tae's reaction to what Jungkook says for me. Jungkook was being cheeky and basically put Tae on the spot, causing him to appear quite flustered and speechless. The word (chingu) isn't the issue as all the members were using it to introduce each other during that segment. Jungkook even referred to Yoongi, who is his hyung, as "chingu." It seemed to me like Jungkook wanted to tease Tae about the status of their relationship being more than "friends," and Tae's reaction was very telling.
▪︎The "Private conversation" comment - we all know by now that k-army have said the "Private conversation" phrase is usually used in a romantic sense between couples and that it's also slang for "making out." Both Jungkook and Jimin's reactions to what Tae said is interesting. Jungkook looked slightly taken aback, instantly checks how long he's been on vlive, and then says, " Everyone, I guess I have to end it quickly." Which is funny because at the beginning he said that he was going to stay on live for a really long time, but as soon as Tae tells him to stop, he does. And then Jimin's reaction is to get close to the camera and start making kissy/teasing noises while smiling. Although quite bold, this moment doesn't really surprise me because taekook were pretty wild at times back in the day. Over the years they've obviously matured and learned to be more subtle and discreet.
▪︎Hiding in each other's lives - it makes no sense as to why they would need to hide the fact that they're sharing a room, or hide the fact that they're in the room when the other one is on live. This isn't an issue with any of the other members, and it relates to them being separated and their interactions together being reduced on screen. There's enough evidence (behaviour and voices in the background) for me to be confident that this has happened multiple times. One instance I'd like to point out is a Jungkook live in 2019 where Jin, Jimin, and Tae join him in his room whilst he's on live (the one where when asked what they where doing Jungkook replied "date" causing an awkward silence and Tae to start randomly clapping). Tae asked, "Who's room is this?" Which caused Jin and Jimin to look surprised because taekook were sharing the room but trying to hide it. Later on during the live, Jungkook asks Tae when he's leaving, and he says, "weren't we using the same room?" Exposing them both. And then when Tae finally does leave, he only pretends to because after he's "gone," we see the wrapper from the sweet he was eating earlier being thrown from a direction off screen and Jungkook keeps glancing to the right, the direction in which Tae "left."
▪︎Dates/trips for just the two of them - the most important thing to note about the Atomix date/Paradise hotel stay/Namsan date is that as far as we know, they were alone. There were no staff or managers with them. Those dates were something they did on their own for just the two of them. The Atomix date was on a day the restaurant is usually closed, so it's safe to assume they were the only ones dining that day, and you need to book in adance so it was something they had planned. I don't need to say that staying at the Paradise Hotel together sounds like a romantic staycation. The Namsan hotel also required booking in advance, and if I'm not mistaken, you have to book a hotel room to eat there. These all seem very much like intimate and romantic dates to me rather than two friends having a casual dinner.
There's many more, but I'm going to have to stop here because this is long as hell already. If you made it this far, I'm sorry 😂

I was watching @yolobegone s last stream and saved some of the funniest clips. But the stream seems to have completely disappeared somehow? Like the vod is gone and there are some people who I *know* were there in the chat and are now pretending that they don't know it ever existed (*cough* toby *cough cough*). So like. Sorry for destroying your fucking joke or whatever 🙄 but I'm transcribing this for posterity. (and maybe a teenie bit of pettiness)
--
Melanie: -and can you please, like. Not show up in my place of work?
(reading chat, mumbling under her breath) 'm just getting groceries, they were just shopping, wha- (clearer again) if I want you to drive over to the next town to go shopping?
(to the camera) honestly? yeahhh. like...what's even so great about fuckin Walmart, yanno? like, go to fucking target or something. the prices are better anyway to be 'h'. an' to my manager, if you are watchinnnn. no ya aren't. haha.
I just- I just prefer to keep these two parts of my life separate, yanno?
(loudly chewing gum while reading chat) I- WHAT?! (accidentally chokes on the gum and spends the next few minutes almost dying. I can promise you that however funny you imagine this scene in your head, it cannot beat the real deal) NO I DON'T NEED A FUCKING NAME FOR MY SUPERMARKET-SONA
--
Melanie: so I just wanted to clarify again that, like. I definitely didn't kill that cop. I don't even know what a cop is, yanno? I mean, acab and anarchy and stuff. but also. murder. bad. probably. no like, definitely murder bad.
(reading chat) Even obnoxious customers?
(chews gum pensively) Well, there was that one Karen. Like, at the Walmart yan- no, I'm not- No. You know what. I'm not even gonna acknowledge that like. Walmart-sona shit. What fucking bullshit . Anyway there was that fucking Karen- and-
NO I AM NOT A FUCKING MURDERER OKAY! (reads chat) THAT DOES NOT SOUND LIKE SOMETHING A MURDERER WOULD SAY (accidentally bangs left arm against bedpost) OH FUCK IM STILL NOT FUCKING USED TO HAVE THIS FUCKING ARM BACK I SWEAR TO GOD IF THIS HAPPENS ONE MORE TIME I AM GOING TO SAW IT OFF AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT BETTER STAY THAT WAY!!
AND DON'T EVEN START-
--
Melanie: Alright! 3 - 2 - 1 aaaaand...
(sighs) I should've expected that.
My Walmart-sona is now officially called... Su- (takes a deep breath) Superwholock.
So, if you see Melanie - head to toe in black, great style, uhm...yeh. Don't be weird. But like, it's cool if ya want ta tell me about my self-mutilation in excruciating detail as long as. yanno. MY FUCKING MANAGER IS NOT IN EARSHOT. DO YOU KNOW HOW AWKWARD THE REST OF MY SHIFT WAS?!
And talking of ma manager. If- (looks so fucking sad) if you see Superwholock. In Walmart. Working. Wearin' that stupid blue lil vest. Just- just don't, okay? please.
(Ends stream)
So like. Most of the stream was once again the "is self-mutilation onstream morally reprehensible" discourse like always 🙄 but there were some golden nuggets in this pile of horseshit.
She did also mention that she would be opening her PO Box soon, so maybe gifts stream soon????
(also plz include me in the joke next time :((((

Believe It: A Story on Boruto & His Father by sherrybaby7
Anime » Naruto Rated: K+, English, Family & Adventure, Naruto U., Boruto U., Words: 1k+, Favs: 27, Follows: 34, Published: Jun 7, 2015

Boruto was tired. Tired from training all day. He sat against an oak tree located on the outskirts of the Hidden Leaf Village while he stared at his sensei. 'Sasuke's so cool.' He thought.
'He's a little rough around the edges and I'm not sure if he likes me, but he's just so...mysterious.' He watched the way Sasuke calmly looked up at the sky.
'I wonder what he's thinking. Sasuke noticed the gaze from his pupil.
"You ready?"
"Whaaa? But it's only been like 5 minutes!"
"Well you aren't doing anything else. I'm here to train you and if you don't want to be trained then I can do better things with my time."
"I want to be trained! I have to! I've gotta become better than that dumb dad of mine and be the best shinobi ever."
"That's a lot of talk, too bad you can't back it up."
"Ugh! Well I would if you'd train m—oh I see what you're doing. Fine let's just get to training."
Sasuke nodded.
Naruto was busy. Busy as always. "Lord Hokage the Chuunin exams are approaching and we'd really need to decide between sticking with the forest of death or putting the students through the sand village's tomb of terror."
Naruto pulled his head up from a massive pile of papers. "I'll have to speak with Gaara. He's got some good ideas and—"
"Lord Hokage sir, I don't mean to be rude but the deadline is next week and I can see by how busy you are now that you've got other priorities."
"Hey don't worry about me. I'll get this stuff done no problem. You just work on analyzing those Genin. I want a fantastic report of their grades and strengths telling us who you consider to be Chuunin level, alright?"
"Yes sir! Sorry to bother you"
"It's fine. See you later!"
The ninja walked out of the office and shut the door. Naruto's head fell onto his desk full of papers. Well there's ANOTHER thing to add to the list. Ugh I haven't even spoken with Gaara. We'll just do the forest again—but that's what we did two years before. Some of the older students who didn't pass already will know what to expect. Okay can't think about this now. Gotta focus on choosing the new Jounins. But I'm so hungry! What time is it? 10:26! Good enough for me!
Naruto stood up and walked over to a small mini fridge next to the door to his office. He pulled out a brown bag and walked back to his desk. He stretched a little and then sat back down. He looked inside the brown bag and pulled out a folded piece of paper. He opened it.
Dear Naruto,
Hope work is going well! Today I packed you some sushi from the store we went to the other day for lunch. The kind you really liked! Boruto is off training with Sasuke today and Himawari and I are going to register here for the academy. See you when you get home. I love you!
-Hinata
Naruto smiled. Hinata was too sweet. He never got tired of the cutesy messages, because he had always wanted that. Even now as the village's Hokage, Hinata always managed to acknowledge him in a way no one else could, and that's why he loved her. He looked up at his desk and saw the picture of team 7—Kakashi, Sakura, Sasuke and himself. It was besides another picture. This one of Hinata, Boruto, Himawari and himself. It was right after Himawari was born. It was a good time because, at this point, his Hokage duties hadn't gotten in the way of his family life. It didn't matter to Hinata that he had to work. She had always been so understanding. It was fro Himawari and Boruto that he felt a great amount of guilt for. Himawari was too young really to have seen his life before he got insanely busy, but Boruto on the other hand was not. God, Boruto and I were so close back then. In the picture everyone is looking at the camera except Boruto, who, being held by Hinata, is looking up and laughing at Naruto. Ha oh yeah I made a funny face or something that day and Boruto couldn't get enough of it! The kid could never sit still. He looked away from the picture. I just wish he understood now that it's not that I don't want to spend time with him. I just need more time in the day! He looked back down at his huge pile of papers. Well I'll never have time for anything if I don't get this done. So he swallowed the rest of his sushi and got back to work.
"That's good for today." Sasuke looked at the sunsetting. "There are some things I have to do."
Boruto laid on the ground huffing "Alright if you're sure, but I could keep going if you really wanted me to."
"I'm sure. See you later."
Sasuke vanished as Boruto laid in the grass. "How does he do that?" He started to sit up but all the fatigue from the day's training had finally caught up to him. Alright Boruto so you can't move and it's getting dark and you're in the woods and Sasuke left and you're here alone and alright lets try this again. He shoved his arms and torso up until he sat upright. He then leaned forward pressing his arms and chest to the ground and pushing his body up so his legs could get underneath him. He stood. Then he tried to step, but he couldn't walk fast, so he hobbled all the way home.
Hinata was worried. Himawari and her had gotten back from the long registration for the academy a little over an hour ago and Boruto still wasn't home. Usually she wouldn't worry when she knew he was with Sasuke but she knew that Sasuke had to leave before sunset to go on a mission. Then she heard the door open and she rushed to the living room. "Bo—Naruto!"
"Hey Hinata" He kissed her on the forehead. "Is Boruto not home yet?" She frowned and shook her head. "Ugh Sasuke had to leave early too so he should have been back by now."
"I know. I hope he's alright. Whenever he trains with Sasuke he's gets pretty beat up. I'm wondering if maybe he fell asleep." A few minutes passed. Naruto tapped his fingers against the table. "Okay I'm going to look for him."
Boruto was confused. I thought home was this way but I'm not so sure anymore. Why does everything look the same in the dark?! He was still hobbling and overtired. As he walked aimlessly in no specific direction, he was alarmed by a pair of approaching footsteps. Suddenly extremely alert and regenerized, Boruto burst over to a nearby bush and hid to analyze the situation. It was too dark to make out the figure of the person, but he could tell they were a ninja. Suddenly he felt exposed like the ninja was looking straight at him. Boruto stood in a defensive stance and waited for the ninja to make a move. Nothing happened. His tired body couldn't keep up with him anymore and suddenly he collapsed.
Naruto was tired. Tired from chasing after Boruto all night. Thankfully it was the weekend and he could sleep in a little. He got up in the morning and greeted Hinata, who's always up before him. "Sleep well?" She asked. "Ehhh." Naruto Groaned. Himawari was up too. "Hi daddy!"
"Good morning Hima!"
"Guess what daddy? I'm gonna be a ninja just like you, mommy and Boru! I signed up for the academy yesterday!"
"Well isn't that something! You're gonna make a great little ninja!" Naruto patted her head. Himawari smiled. He turned to Hinata.
"Is Boruto up yet?"
She shook her head. "I don't think so."
"Hmm. I'm gonna go check on him."
Naruto left the room and walked up the stairs to Boruto's room. The door was cracked and he peered in. Boruto was sitting up and holding his head.
"How ya doing?" Naruto asked.
Boruto looked away.
"Hey what's up with you? You had your mother and I scared to death that something had happened to you and then you don't say anything?"
Boruto continued to look away. Naruto walked towards him.
"Boruto I just want to know why you were in the forest of death last night. You know how dangerous that place is. I know you're strong but there are a lot of people, and things, out there that you're not ready for yet."
Boruto looked at him for a second and then away again.
"Ugh I didn't mean to be in the forest, I just—I just got lost okay!"
"That's what I figured, but where were you training with Sasuke yesterday?"
"It was right outside the village. The oak tree farm."
Naruto sat up straight.
"That's...strange."
Boruto looked at his father.
"What is?"
"The forest of death is on the other side of the village. You'd have to have been walking there all day to end up there."
Boruto frowned.
"Well I don't know I was just really tired and I kept on walking. The last thing I remember was seeing you while I was near a bush. Before I fell asleep"
Naruto's eyes widened.
"Stand up. Let me look at you."
"C'mon dad. I'm fine! It was you who was there in the woods right? It must have been because that's how I got back here, right?"
Naruto looked confused yet solemn.
"I did find you last night but you were already asleep and in an open field."
Boruto looked a little shaken up.
"But I'm sure you're fine I mean look at you! You ready for some breakfast? By the way I know that we were gonna have a sparring session today, but I've gotta actually meet with Gaara today about some business."
Boruto's look went from concerned to normal in an instant.
"Of course you have to work. You always do! Whatever! I don't even want to spar with you, you old fart!"
He stormed off and went downstairs. Naruto sighed, but at least he got Boruto to feel better. But he couldn't help but wonder, Who was it who was with his son last night and why did he drag him all the way out to the forest of death?

In your eyes - Johnny the soulmate
Tumblr media
genre : comedy gold! *insert baby voice* it’s so funnnnyyy
Everyone in this world is born with two distinct eye colours. One eye is green and the other is of natural colour, the incomplete half, the desire of everyone.
Unless and until you look into your soulmate's eyes, the green won’t disappear and no matter how charismatic you looked with them, they were always incomplete.
Staring at the mirror once again, you sighed heavily. Your sister was only 12 yet she had already met her soulmate in a park.
In a ducking park¯\_ʘ‿ʘ_/¯
Maybe you should also go and find yours in a park?
Empty mind is a devil's workshop right?
"Soulmates aren't sold in the park, dear." your lovely mother laughed at you when you told her you were going to a PaRK.
"You'll find when it's the right time love"
ignoring her completely, you stomped your foot and closed the door on her face. Very politely.
A 24 year old can certainly make a decision on their own!
The park looked GREEN? It's been years since you visited this area to admire its beauty so you decided to take a walk across the cycle line.
It was surprisingly calm. Kids were playing with their friends or parents, some were there for a small picnic, dogs were barking somewhere far and some young adult boys were fighting for swings.
SOME YOUNG ADULT BOYS WERE FIGHTING FOR SWINGS?(ಠ_ಠ)>⌐■-■
Tsk tsk. Shooting them a stink eye, you were about to trudge past two little girls when someone's cries took your attention.
Whipping your head, you saw a man fake crying, probably to soothe the little girl who had fallen.
You kept staring until he acknowledged your presence.
Mumbling something, he looked at you with a question painted on his pretty face.
Yes, he was pretty.
Too pretty.
But the prettiest were his lips, of soft pink colour and you wondered if the lollipop that his lips secured oh so tightly was also pink! Maybe strawberry!
You were pulled out of your thoughts when his lips moved again and despite the interjection, it was very demanding for you to look away.
And suddenly there was no one there. It was dark and then it was not dark?
You blinked a few times to make sense of your surroundings.
The little girl giggled at you as your eyes wandered everywhere but it seemed like you had seen nothing but a phantom.
Funny things happen to people with zero luck!
And you blamed it on your habit of drooling over pretty boys. Sometimes, pretty faces were just poison for a healthy mind.
Dejectedly, you moved further to cross the street.
Before going home, you decided to treat yourself to an ice cream to heal your miserable heart and just when you were about to leave after paying, the cashier hung a new rope of lollipops, the ends of packets chained to each other and once again, the colours of the shop faded into a deep black colour before the light greeted you again.
You scoffed at yourself for overthinking but a smile drew itself on your lips as the cashier gave you a cheesy smile, saying something on the lines of a pretty girl discount!
"It's so dark outside! Where were you?"your mom scolded you but you stuck your tongue at her and tried to leave before your sister, the human embodiment of the devil, stopped you.
"Did you find your soulmate?" Narrowing your lids, you greeted her with your infamous sharp eyes but this time she didn't cower away.
"Holy shit! Your eyes!"
Oh yes. Her all time favourite joke to annoy you.
But it was your mother who gasped after her. Then your father and then you yourself when the camera of your sister's phone was shoved into your face.
Your family kept screaming but you were too busy rewinding your evening in your head to pay any notice to them.
Frantically retracing your steps, you found yourself breaking the door of the ice cream shop. Almost. But disappointment settled in once you saw a different girl at the register. And she had two coloured eyes.
The only other place you had been to was the park. But was it worth going back there?
A try won’t harm right?
The park was almost empty.
There were a few little kids playing with their mothers, a small girl crying(again) and a man sitting on the swings.
You kicked the little stones that were lined on your foot and were about to leave when something caught your eye.
The man on the swings looked familiar?
Even in the dark, you could make out his prominent features.
But your eyes no more expected someone else’s heed.
And just like that you left again.
You were near your house when a voice called out, “hey! Are you perhaps finding your soulmate?”
Anyone could swear you had never moved any faster in your whole life. Sprinting back like there was a dog chasing you, you found the same man asking for your attention.
The man with pretty lips and the man who was sitting on the swings. That’s why the silhouette looked familiar!
“Park?girls? crying? Blackout? Twice?”
He repeated your dilemma.
Awestruck, you merely nodded.
“sorry for earlier! I panicked! I’m Johnny suh. Do you want to go for a walk?”

Whatever It Takes
Sequel to A Forgotten Memory
Roach's stealth skills are put to the test as he sneaks past an alleged Augustus base to capture him and gather intel about the recent EMP based attacks. Will Roach be able to impress Captain Price?
Previous Chapter : Soap - Experiment 001
Chapter 9 to another story made by Ray (echo-three-one) Comments and Reviews appreciated! I hope you enjoy! Love you all ❤️
Tumblr media
"A SurPRICE Visit"
Gary 'Roach' Sanderson
Task Force 141
400 meters outside Augustus' Mountain Base
Germany
The winds were picking up when they landed and Roach flew about a few more meters away from Price.
"This EMP blast is messing with my signals. Captain, can you find Roach?" Ghost spoke over comms, his voice crumbled over the static.
"He landed not too far from me. Come on boy, let's get a head on." Price replied to Ghost as he helped Gary get up and untangle himself from his mess. Gary nodded and followed his Captain into the edge of the mountain.
"There it is. Augustus' base." he mused as Gary scoped through his supressed silencer. Trucks were leaving the area filled with armed hostiles.
"Ghost, you see this? They're leaving the hive." Price informed the recon man.
"Aye, sir. Looks like they're headed to Alex's direction. If we time this right you'll have less people inside there." he replied. Gary wondered why they were leaving. It didn't make sense to back-up an already reclaimed base back at Alex's.
"Let's go Roach. I'll take the one on the left tower, you take the one on the right. I'm currently spotting four Tangos by the gate. Fire when ready." Price instructed. Roach took a deep breath to steady his sights, quickly pulling the trigger once the crosshairs aligned with their heads.
"Good kill. Your sniper skills are improving, Sargeant." Price mused as he signaled them to move forward. For a Captain who's left him a solid first impression as a strict angryman, Roach didn't expect the kind words from him. It almost felt overwhelming.
"You go ahead and take what's important inside that guardhouse. I'll cover you from this position." he commanded and Gary sprung safely into action, switching to his suppressed pistol and into the guardhouse.
It was simple, a few cameras, some photos of people who they let in and a few map layouts. Gary quickly snapped all of them for Ghost to see. Roach also grabbed the radio and placed it near his ear. Gary set his sights on an AK-47 lying on the ground.
"Roach, be careful when using unsuppressed weapons. It might reveal our existence." Price muttered to which he nodded. It just made sense.
"Jäeger, kopierst du?" the radio muttered. Roach's German wasn't on point and any non-reply from the other end would result in an investigation.
"Ja, alles klar." he replied, trying to replicate the accent. There was no more reply on the other side which meant Gary actually nailed his reply.
"Captain, behind that door is heavily guarded. I suggest a reroute to the back door just a few meters east of your position. This isn't Augustus' base, it's a remote research facility studying plant life by the border and he seemed to take it over." Ghost informed after gathering the photos, Gary waited on the edge of the wall covering his Captain's six. The duo proceeded as suggested and climbed over an unguarded fence.
"We're at a greenhouse. Labeled 6." Price whispered.
"Do you see any cameras?" Ghost asked.
"Yeah. Looking at the plants." he muttered.
"Circle around it and find cover behind the safehouse labeled 5. If my German is correct, the central area should have 2 scientists on their way in there." Ghost informed.
"Right on schedule." Price nodded to Roach as they both knocked them down quietly and non-lethally as they were civilians. Gary quickly slung his weapon and hid it behind the huge white lab coat the both of them now wore.
"Keep your weapons hidden, until I say so. Okay?" Price said as he pulled the bodies somewhere hidden. Gary nodded as they confidently waltzed inside the base, using their fake ids pinned on their coats for entry.
Gary watched a lot of sci-fi fics and most of them depicted labs as white walled, glass-divided rooms with hundreds of scientists working on some random machineries. Except here, it's plants. It seemed normal as if they infiltrated the wrong base. Price seemed to worry too, his steps were further apart and he seemed to be in a hurry. They were losing hope on a lead, until one armed guard, different from those outside started climbing up the stairs.
"Finally. Some good news." Price muttered as they made their way up the stairs.
"Authorized personnel only." an armed guard stood by the steps blocking the duos way. It was too crowded and too risky to engage him and press through and they both needed a new plan.
"Es tut mir leid." Gary replied as he pulled Price to the restrooms.
"It's no use. We can't go guns ablazing right here." he noted to his Captain.
"Bollocks." he cursed.
"We need a diversion." He added.
"Way ahead of you, Sir." Gary smirked and showed him his c4 trigger, pushed it and an explosion followed.
"Nice. By the guard house?" Price asked while they waited for reinforcements to assist the blast.
"Yeah."
"Quick thinking lad. I like that."
Several armed men came rushing down the stairs, yelling in a different language, all going to the exit. They stomped to the stairs and carefully breached the second floor of the building, shooting armed tangos using suppressed weapons. They had to act fast and stomp on their comms as soon as they're down so that the others outside will not fall back.
Ten guards were left behind to protect the second floor, and with the help of stealth, Gary and Price took them out smoothly. All that's left are the intel waiting to be harvested.
Gary snapped all possible evidence, every nook and cranny was investigated while Price tapped his heavy fingers on the keyboard.
"Looks like they're going large. They're planting something by the major cities cell towers. Here's one in Berlin." he muttered, printing a copy of the blueprints.
"Price! R-ch" Ghost's static crackled across their comms.
"Th- found- guards!
Get. Out. There. NOW." he added.
"Kill every civilian in there. That will let our little friends out of the shadows. I know they're after us…" a menacing voice said over Roach's stolen receiver.
"Shite. They're killing civvies." Gary said, worried.
"I'm sorry Roach. But we can't save them. It's a trap. Now protect that camera and let's get the fuck out of here." Price consoled as they continued pressing on toward the exit.
Screaming people followed by gunshots echoed across the white halls of the research facility, Gary didn't want to look back, Gary didn't want to hear any more screaming but it was all around him. Whoever commanded this act to be done must be eradicated from this world.
LOCAL MILITIA SETTLEMENT
Alex greeted the duo as soon as they stepped inside the village. It felt lively as everyone was celebrating their victory.
"Captain." Alex nodded and Price returned the gesture with a handshake.
"This is Blitz. Their leader." he added, introducing the man to Price.
"Thank you for helping us." Price acknowledged.
"No. Thank you for helping us. You have good men fighting for a good cause." he remarked, nodding at Alex and Gary. Gary also got acquainted with the leader, exchanged a few words and got offered soup.
"Tough day, huh?" Alex nudged over Gary, who's still sad about the situation earlier.
"You and me, both." Gary muttered as Alex patted his shoulder.
"We'll get him soon enough, Roach. Justice will be served." Alex consoled as Gary took a deep sigh.
"They're planting EMP bombs on major cell towers. Maybe incorporating it with them to perform large scale blasts." Gary pondered, taking a sip off the delicious soup.
"Yeah. That's our go signal. It's now a terror activity. Imagine a day without communication. International trade would crumble." Alex explained to which Gary nodded in agreement.
"Global cripple. People's minds get hurt, Economy gets hurt and we aren't focused enough to defend ourselves."
"That's what he's up to." Gary finished.
"And we have to stop it. Whatever It Takes." Alex looked at Gary with determination, that kind of pep talk that makes him a little less sad.
"Yeah." Gary agreed.

Another briefing, but this time, it was going somewhere. Operation Burn, the task is to eliminate Nero and all his allies, if possible. Funny enough, the real Nero burned everyone else. Whoever thought of this name was smart enough to connect the dots.
There's another person added to the team, the redhead leather jacket agent, Alexandra Ryder. An interpol agent tasked to destroy all traces of said EMP machinery. She looks tough, acts tough and basically is tough. France seemed to be going along well with her. That's a bonus for alliances such as these.
"So, I heard Price noted your sniper improvement." Ghost nudged.
"Yeah. Thanks Simon. Your training sucks but it helped a lot." Gary complimented.
"Tried talking to France and the new girl today." Ghost reported. Gary turned to him, clearly interested about his story.
"It was actually good. They're both intimidated by the mask and that's why they can't initiate conversation with me. But the talk went pretty well so I guess you needed to update your scoreboard or something." He muttered.
Gary chuckled. "That's one step towards her."
"I'll let the Interpol handle Berlin. Since it involves just the weapon, as for other news. I think it's time to transfer our two hostages back to the USA." Gary quickly turned his head back to the screen. No. It can't be. He had to stop this decision.
"With all due respect sir. I do not agree with this!" Gary stood up and all eyes were on him. He's still concerned about the welfare of the two plus he didn't want Maxine to leave. Not yet.
"I've read the report on their case sir. And it's not that I don't trust the system there but what if there's still another one in there with ties to Nero. He was able to slip by under our noses once or more times than that but let's consider the possibilities here." Gary explained as he looked around. Alex seemed to agree with him.
Shepherd let out a soft sigh.
"We'll discuss this possibility Sgt. Sanderson. You can sit down now." he said and resumed briefing.
"Brave move you did there, soldier." Ghost remarked as Gary let out a sigh. He wasn't sure on he's really concerned, the IP Address being extracted from Samantha or Maxine's smile that he will be missing if she left.
