I feel like me getting into ikepri is the result of New Thing To Focus On ( I have focused on isaac for almost 4 years straight, my first fanfic with him was in jan of 2020, and I know I liked him a bit before that), but also... accounts I follow getting more into ikepri also.

I use twibber mainly for a lot of ikeseries content, like following a lot of JP fanartists on there and such. I rarely run into character hate on there, I don't get weird messages claiming im a fake fan or whatever, and its just. Idk. I have more luck finding content without having to dig through a lot of negativity towards those who like the game/characters.

But now a lot of fanartists I follow have either deleted their account, or they've switched to primarily posting about ikepri. I think that also just inadvertently caused me to get into it more.

I miss a lot of the accounts I follow that are just Gone now though. I almost miss being excited about new events in ikevamp and stuff. Now, the writing has been such a steady train of poor quality and predictability for events that I just. Idk. I'm not as excited anymore, and it sucks. I was hyped for the election, but the prizes were so...???? Ugh.

I still play the game, at least log in a few times a week. I still love the characters to death. Ive just also focused a Lot on the game for the past few years, so a New Thing to have fun with has been preoccuping me. I miss having a lot of random conversations about vamp, though...

I don't know how much stuff im gonna write for ikepri, but I think I have to admit its in the roster now. Ikevamp stuff might be squished inbetween them because I am waiting for ikevamp to bring me more genuine excitement again.

This was a nightmare...it had to be.

His hand had moved even before he'd woken, searching out Cheryl's shape to find nothing and no one. He opened his eyes and the world was fog, or maybe snow, or smoke, or radio static gone thick enough to fill the air - it was impossible to tell with his head aching from the impact, his sinuses burning with shock and the smell of gasoline. He searched again and again, thinking maybe his vision would clear and there she'd be, shaken but unhurt, startled but whole, his daughter, his baby girl, Cheryl, his everything. But she wasn't: Wasn't there, wasn't with him, wasn't inside the car, wasn't outside of it either (once his numb hands managed to undo his seatbelt and throw open the door), wasn't anywhere he could see, wasn't...she wasn't answering when he called her name.

So Harry Mason did the only thing he could, and he walked right into the trap that the town itself had set, frightened for his daughter and wholly unaware that the real nightmare had only just begun.

I can say now that Knives hero worships Brad a bit while he's closer to actual friends with Luida. Which doesn't necessarily equal closeness either way. I think you can tell this already by how often Knives thinks about what Brad would do and what he would say if he was there. They have a very unique relationship that's probably my favorite in the fic, and it was hard to write so I hope it lands how I want it to land.

It's interesting writing a main character of Trigun who's not obsessed with Rem. Knives was more mature than Vash, and as happens frequently in families with a high needs kid like Vash he got a little promoted to part-time caregiver (he also promoted himself, to be fair), so he had a more mature relationship with Rem than Vash ever did. So he's not as obsessed with her pacifism, which means that Knives is pacifist for different reasons in a different way. In a. You know. 'Cold turkey' way.

I never got much chance to explore this, but Vash is absolutely still obsessed with Rem. I couldn't see any situation where Vash didn't do exactly what he thought Rem would want. Which severely affected me writing him because that means that he has to have a baseline level of Space Alien Scifi Insanity for that to be part of his mental schema for the world. Jonestowning a city and telling himself that Rem would want him to do that means that this baseline level has to be extremely high.

This fic was. Really tricky. So tricky. Very tricky. I'm proud of it but MAN you still have to wonder if you did what you wanted to do.
