The face of someone who has yet to even consider the idea of coming out to her parents facing down someone who is already out and proud to her parents.
I do love Sun's parents, though, so much.
But the illustration of this relationship and the faults is already here, Sun has never imagined not being out to her parents while Ongsa can't imagine being out to her parents.

hades 2 spoilers below the cut. rambling about a post-final boss piece of dialogue
this is such an interesting line and it makes mel's character SO good to me
like. her entire life was marked by the tragedy that took place when she was too young to remember, and from the moment it happened it was expected that she would be fully dedicated to making it right, because that was her family that was taken. that was the mother and father and brother that, if they'd had the chance to raise her, she would love more than the world itself. she should want them back more than anything.
but, the thing is? she has other love. she has hecate and the other people in the crossroads. she can't miss the love that she didn't have from her family because it never happened - and yet, her entire life from the moment chronos took them, she was expected to be so angry and stricken with grief over it that she would be willing to dedicate her entire life to killing him.
because that's what she should be doing with all of that anger and loss - it should fuel her to kill chronos. that's her goal. that's what she has been training for her entire life.
mel is a good person - she does want her family back. she meets her father for the first time and it's a deeply emotional moment for her. it's important to note that she doesn't actually mean what she says here. but she's been expected to be motivated by loving them so much that ever expressing that she doesn't actually love them as much as she's supposed to has never been an option. nemesis tells her that she isn't fully motivated by loving them in order to hurt her - and it hurts her because it's true (at least to a degree that she finds unacceptable within herself).
and when she gets that crucial step closer to achieving her goal - death to chronos, and here he is, about to die - he asks her to hypothetically pick between not achieving that goal, and potentially doing harm to the family that she is meant to love than anything...
and the motivation to kill him, the thing that has been drilled into her over and over, the first line that you hear her speak when you start the game - that is what wins.

okay was anyone going to tell me that ascended Astarion calls MC 'little love' and 'my treasure' in the smoothest most sultry voice I've ever heard or was I just supposed to get absolutely smacked around the head with that knowledge myself—

I think Aziraphale should at least get a little credit that the Only Line Crowley couldn't, and most ppl seem to agree(including me) Shouldn't have crossed to be with Aziraphale is the Same Line Aziraphale was Constantly risking by socializing/making heart eyes at/associating with Crowley for 6000 years
And I want to be clear, it seems pretty obvious that Crowley most likely suffered very real and terrible consequences from hell bc of his relationship with Aziraphale. We see a very concrete example with the Wee Morag and Elspeth situation (though we don't actually see what happens, but I feel that it's implied that it's very awful). And Crowley Should and often Does get credit for this. So, this isn't a "who risked more" post, because the Whole Point is that they both risked basically everything to just...hang out together.
This is more about What Exactly Aziraphale Was risking in light of the S2 breakup scene, and that thing is Identity.
Because the S2 breakup scene, and really the audience's reaction to it, shows us that Aziraphale is out of pocket for offering Crowley to become an Angel because (whether or not Aziraphale realizes-I say not- but that's another post) it Fundamentally Changes Who Crowley IS. And this heavily suggests that Angel and Demon function as a kind of identity (as opposed to a job, which is, in my opinion, slightly more the book's take).
And if we are looking at Demon and Angel as at least Some Kind of form of identity, then I think it is relevant to recognize that Aziraphale was Always risking his identity for the better part of 6000 years. {And It is very important to Also recognize that it is Crowley who spares him this in the Job episode (perhaps in a way Aziraphale Doesn't in the breakup scene. But here is where I would like to point out that Aziraphale was possibly Excited about being together as Angels with Crowley, but he never actually made that decision for her, as Aziraphale never actually made a decision at all. Crowley is possibly upset that Aziraphale didn't know them well enough to understand that Demon is a functionality of their identity and to say No Immediately.....and this is another post,lol)}
The worst that could happen to Aziraphale is Fall, to have his identity stripped from him. (which, arguably, Crowley did have their identity stripped from them when they fell, though Probably not because of Aziraphale-or who knows-,but I feel this really convolutes things, OR clarifies, because, I guess it makes a lot of sense if you view Angel as an identity that Crowley had stripped from him, then it would Make Sense that Aziraphale would Want to Restore that, but then it also means that Aziraphale is losing sight of the 6000 years of identity as Demon, so restoring would perhaps Erase those 6000 years, as opposed to what Aziraphale is possibly thinking, which is that he can give a piece of Crowley's identity Back to them, not really realizing that having that piece of identity Removed is Part of their identity now...and it gets complicated)
I just think that if in the Good Omens show universe, If
Heaven and Hell are The Same (as the show frequently points out), and If Angel and Demon are viewed as forms of identity, then I don't think Aziraphale falling is any better than Crowley becoming an Angel.
And I just think Aziraphale should get Some credit for risking his very identity this whole time.

a genuine question: are you proship or just against the rigidity of anti/pro dichotomy? for my own comfort as a follower and fan xoxo
I'm not actually involved in The Discourse, first of all. I disagree with the aims of the antis I've seen so far re: taking down AO3, strictly policing content in fandom (and general fiction), etc. so if that's all that's necessary to qualify one as a proshipper, I am one. If there's more to it, then I suspect I'm not.
I think the topic of fanfic morality is...thorny. R.P.F, for example, deeply bothers me, especially when the issue of explicit fanfic concerning real, very young people comes up. As I know it has. Fiction is not real life, and adults responsible for curating their own online experiences must be trusted to know the difference between fiction and reality or we risk falling back into patterns of censorship that have plagued fandom for years. But some people insist on writing fics about real people, some of whom are not adults. Does that not cross the line rather? And what's to be done about it?
I don't have the answer, I freely admit. But I don't think "nuke the best fanfiction space we've carved out for ourselves yet" is it.
And that's really the only very specific circumstance in which I can understand the outrage. I will not waste a second of my time hand-wringing about the fate of a fake person in a fake scenario. It's not real or harming real people. There IS content I find disgusting/morally repugnant/plain ordinary Squicky, but. As long as it's tagged appropriately and 100% fictional, I will spare it only the thought necessary to say "ew. nope." and move on.
And for some things that squick a lot of other people, I may not. As you know if you've been hanging around here in the past year or so, I write for a fandom that happens to involve incest. Consenting adult incest, in my personal fics, but like...The Full Siblings Who Grew Up Together Are Banging. And I want them to keep banging. I have favorite fics wherein they bang. I can explain my logic till the cows come home- I find their dynamic interesting to explore; it's different from other incest ships, which I usually avoid, because they were never able to be normal siblings; etc. -but at the end of the day, it would still put me on the antis' shit list.
This is not just a matter of principle for me. I read and produce some of the Problematique Fanfic. Relatively tame stuff in the grand scheme of things, really, but I still have a vested interest in avoiding content crackdowns on purely fictional stories. Apart from generally disagreeing that it's the best way to fix fandom's issues.
So, that's where I stand. If you feel you have to unfollow, godsspeed.

I have a lot of frustrated thoughts about Rhea, but to boil them down. Either she was written to seem very frustrating and unlikable to make Daemon killing her not emotionally effect the audience as much, which is poor writing, or she was written to sound like a Strong Independent Girlboss who we should feel for, and they also did that poorly.

you know i know everyone tends to have fun and flanderize characters until they’re silly and say they have one brain cell but i genuinely, legitimately appreciate that every single angel and demon in s2 is spectacularly and even alarmingly stupid.
