Oh What a Night: Part 2
Angel made his way into the pub and sidled up to the bar. There was a band playing tonight and the place was loud but it was better than the club. The crowd here seemed much more manageable. He took a seat and waited for the bartender to come over, which didn’t take long since there were two. A redheaded, freckled version of Callum was at the other end of the bar and his much older graying doppelgänger stood in front of him. “What can I get ya?”, he asked in a jovial tone.
“Scotch, please.”
“Something troubling you, son?”
“It’s nothing, just a rough night.”
He nodded, “I’ve had a few of those. You American?”
He was about to say, ‘No, not really,’ but stopped, “I— hum yeah, I’m here visiting some friends.”
“Friends ditch you after you come all this way?”
“I— sort of, not exactly. They all just kinda paired off, I’m on my own tonight. I asked them to drop me off here. One of them is actually supposed to be upstairs with her guy,” he pointed to the ceiling, “Family resemblance would say you’re probably his father.”
Mr. Ross nodded and took on a curious expression, “You’d be Faith’s mate then?”
“Yup. We go way back.”
“Not here for trouble are you?”
“Just the Scotch. Callum seems alright. As long as he’s good to her, I have zero interest in what they’re doing up there. I just didn’t feel like going back to the castle tonight.”
He nodded, “None of my business then.”
Angel nodded and sipped at his drink.
A pretty woman with Asian features came up to the bar and sat down one stool away from him. Her black curly hair was cropped up to her chin and had multiple streaks of emerald green pulled through it. It somehow looked natural on her even though it couldn’t have been. Angel noticed she had floral tattoos covering the upper half of each arm and wore a simple green tank top.
Angel picked up a discarded pen on the bar and started doodling on a napkin. He had always enjoyed drawing faces. Darla, Buffy, even Faith once or twice. He sat down and started sketching a picture of Fred and suddenly found himself strangely missing Illyria.
The girl across from him leaned over examining the drawing, “That’s pretty good.”
Angel looked up, “Thanks, I’ve had a lot of practice.”
“You’re an artist?” she asked.
“I don’t know if I can say that. It’s just a hobby, something to keep me busy.”
The girl nodded, “Yeah, I get that,” she sipped her drink, some bright green concoction that looked very tropical. He was noticing a theme with this girl. “So who’s the girl? Is she your girlfriend?”
Angel looked down at the picture of Fred and cleared his throat, “No just a friend. She— she died a couple months ago.”
“Oh my God, I’m so sorry.”
Angel rolled one large shoulder in a shrug.
She was silent for a long time but Angel could feel her eyes watching him. After several minutes she finally spoke, “Want to know what I think?”
“No offense but not really… No wait. Let me guess, ‘I need to lighten up and have a little fun’, am I close?”
“Guess you’ve heard that a few times.”
“Seems like it’s all anybody ever tells me these days.”
“In my experience when you keep hearing something there’s usually a reason for it, like maybe it’s true,” she said matter-of-factly and went back to sipping her drink.
Angel looked up at her, “I don’t even know what that means anymore, ‘fun’ I used to think I had a good idea what it was. But I was wrong.”
The girl eyed him, “Got a friend a little bit like that. Well at least he used to be. He used to think the only way to have a good time was drinking and fighting, taking girls back to his place. Fortunately he finally woke up. I’m taking it you haven’t quite woken up yet.”
“Oh, I’m awake. I just don’t know what to do now. It’s been so long since— I don’t know… I just don’t know—“
“Well what do you like to do in your spare time,” she asked.
“When I’m not working? I mostly read and draw.”
“Workout too I bet?”
“Sorta goes along with the job but yeah. Martial arts. Tai Chi helps me relax, I enjoy that sometimes.”
The girl grinned at that, “My mum and I do tai chi together,” she said, her Scottish brogue a little stronger now from the drink.
Angel eyed her a little bit more curiously.
“Do you got a name there Tall-dark-and-brooding?” she asked casually.
“Angel”
“That can’t be your real name.”
He just eyed her over his drink.
“Ok then, Angel. I’m Gemma. What brings you out here tonight? Just drowning your sorrows over the loss of your friend?”
He shrugged again, “No not really, just thinking. I’m here visiting some friends. Found myself on my own tonight.”
She leaned an arm on the bar, “Yeah, I sort of heard you telling Mr. Ross a bit about it.”
Angel gave her a little smirk, he already suspected she heard him, “What about you?”
“Came by to visit a friend, he’s not answering his phone. I guess he’s ehh busy—“ she pointed upward towards Callum’s apartment, “New girlfriend using him shamelessly,” she smirked.
Angel smiled, “Probably. I’ve known her for a long time. I’ve never seen her like this over a guy.”
“Funny, he never shuts his gob about her and yet I haven’t even met her.”
Angel shook his head, “I’m sure you will. I don’t think she’s going anywhere anytime soon.”
“Hope you’re right. I haven’t seen him smile this much in ages. I’m just glad he finally plucked up the courage to ask her out. He’d been talking about the girl that’d come into the Hardware store nonstop for months.”
Angel gave a noncommittal grunt of agreement.
“Want to play billiards?”
“I’m not really looking for—“
“I’m not hitting on you. I just want to play a game. You know, have fun?”
Angel looked down at his now empty glass and the picture of Fred, “Sure, I’ll give it a try.”
Angel was surprised at how easily Gemma got him to loosen up. She teased him relentlessly during their game. Until he stopped letting her win at least. Then she got competitive. Even so, she smiled easily and kept up a running stream of hot and cold quips that often had him chuckling in spite of himself. In a small way she was sort of reminding him of the way Cordelia could get him to enjoy things. It was nice to just hang out with someone again. It seemed like ages since he did that. They were having such a good time that they barely noticed when the band started packing up.
“Alright you two. You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here,” Mr Ross’s voice rang out as Angel sank another ball. Angel and Gemma looked up at him.
“Oh come on Mr. Ross, just let us finish this round would you?” Gemma pleaded.
“Go on then, Lass. Not like I’m going to throw you out. Cheeky, little—“ he grumbled but smiled all the same.
“Don’t mind him. I’m practically family,” she grinned at Angel as she wanted for her turn.
“I really should be getting back. I’m leaving for Rome.”
“A jet setter ehh?”
“No, I have friends down there. It just seemed to make sense to visit them while I was on this side of the ocean.”
She laughed, “Oh sure, it’s purely logical.”
They finished their game and Angel extended his hand, “Thanks for reminding me what it felt like to just have fun, it’s been a long time.”
“It was my pleasure. We should do it again sometime.”
“I eh, I don’t really come to Scotland that much.”
“You have friends here. I’m willing to bet you’ll be back before long,” she smiled.
“I’ll let you know if I do.”
“Good.”
“Good,” he allowed himself a grin before heading back to the castle. The sun would be up before long. At least the night hadn’t been a total wash.
*********************
After they returned from the club, Buffy brushed out her hair letting it fall around her shoulders as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror. She was wearing the little black babydoll nightie she had gotten at the lingerie shop in town. It was the first time she had really bought anything that didn’t exactly go under clothing. She had all sorts of sexy little things but this one was a little different. The triangle cups and matching panties were made of faux leather. The bottom of the babydoll top was a sheer black material that left very little to the imagination and it made her feel exceptionally sexy. She couldn’t wait to see Spike’s reaction.
Buffy switched off the light in the bathroom and padded into their bedroom. Spike had been busy lighting candles. He had taken off his shirt, boots and socks already and stood there clad in only leather pants. True to his word Spike had pulled up Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of The Moon’ on Buffy’s laptop. His eyes lit up when he saw Buffy standing in the doorway.
“Bloody hell, I’m a lucky sod.”
Buffy strode towards him, “I guess that means you like it?”
“Like it? I could rip it off with my teeth,” he hooked a finger under one of the shoulder straps.
“I thought you changed your mind about your music choice. Weren’t you going to put on some punk playlist you made up or something?”
He looked at her distractedly, “Thought about it, this was quicker,” he grinned.
“I’ve been waiting all night for this,” Buffy wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down for a long kiss. She pulled back breathlessly and started nipping at his neck. Spike threw his head back giving her room to play. He ran his hands under the shear fabric of the nightie and over the soft skin of her back.
“Did you enjoy yourself tonight?” he murmured.
“All things considered, yeah. I really did. It was really neat seeing you the way you were when you were human.”
“Neat? Gee-wiz,” he smirked.
“You’re an idiot. It was weird but cool. I liked seeing you like that.”
“Not sure how I want to take that.”
“Just shut up and kiss me you dolt.”
Spike crashed his mouth to hers, tasting her. Mint and just the slightest hint of the beer she had earlier. She must have brushed her teeth after the club but it was still there. He wanted to drink her in.
Buffy grabbed the back of his neck pulling him into her. She raked her fingers through his hair, releasing his curls and making him moan into her mouth. His fingers skimmed the top of the little panties and he let out a little growl. Buffy moved her hands to his belt buckle and undid it. Slowly.
“You’re going to drive me mad, woman.”
“I’m just taking my time.”
“Slow and easy is it?”
“Stop talking,” Buffy said, pulling his pants down.
She pushed him down onto the loveseat and finished stripping him. Buffy bent low kissing him as she sank down onto her knees, pressing her breasts to his erection, rubbing herself against him as she laid kisses to his chest and stomach. Spike moaned as he sat listening to the music and let Buffy roam freely over his naked body.
She worked her way down licking and nipping. She licked a sensitive patch of skin on his inner thigh and gave a little bite. Spike hissed in pain and pleasure as she ran her tongue around the teeth marks she made. She ran her hand over his length and held him firmly.
Then, maddeningly slow, she ran the tip of her tongue from the base of his erection to his firm tip, her hot breath driving him crazy as she teased him. She looked up at him before taking him into her mouth and moved her tongue in swirling motions as she moved up and down his length. Spike put his strong fingers on the underside of her chin and lifted her head.
She let him go and looked up at him, “I believe you won a bet,” she said a little breathlessly.
Spike nodded as he cleared his throat, “That I did, Pet. But I rather thought I’d collect my winnings a little differently.”
“What did you have in mind?”
Spike pulled her up to him kissing her. He bent his head down and nipped at a breast through the faux leather covering them. Then he pulled her up to the seat with him and very carefully moved down onto his knees in front of her. He brought his mouth down, dragging his teeth along the outside of the little leather-like panties. Buffy bucked and gasped at the sensation. “Liked that did you?” he purred.
Buffy let out a barely audible whimper that turned into a moan. Spike looped his fingers into the side of the little panties, pulling them off completely. “You’re going to want to spread for this, Love.”
“What about the bet?”
“Oh, I’m about to collect. Don’t worry about me, I'd rather see to you first.”
“A gentleman always sees to his lady?” she teased.
“Something like that, Pet,” he grabbed her by the hips pulling her towards him. She spread her thighs wide for him. But he wasn’t ready for that yet. He wanted to play. Tease her. Make her want him in all the right ways. He ran his fingers along her breast, down her rib cage until he brought his mouth to her navel. He ran his tongue around the outside then moved down to the sensitive skin at her hips. Licking and kissing his way slowly to her thighs. He nipped one thigh lightly, releasing a gasping moan from her. The sound mixed with the music playing in the background.
His fingers glided over her and down over her clit rubbing slowly. She threw back her head with a sigh, “Ohh, ahhh, William!”
He felt inside of her, grinning, she was so wet for him. Like a ripe peach begging to be picked. Spike grinned a little wider and dipped his mouth for a taste. Experimenting with his tongue, he lapped at her slowly making her squirm and writhe beneath him. She grasped the back of his head again, dislodging more of his curls and burying her fingers in his scalp as she let out a little shudder. He tasted her as fresh moisture rushed to meet his tongue. He took his time, driving her wild because it drove him wild.
For a moment he thought about setting up their mind-scape and taking her in both, but the thought dissolved when she wrapped her leg around him to pull him into her deeper. She might have crushed any other guy with the force of it but Spike growled in glee letting the sound reverberate against her opening.
He repositioned her legs around him and went up on his knees, pulling her up with him. Her back arched and he ran a hand up to her breast caressing her through the leather-like fabric covering them. With one last shuddering cry Buffy signaled Spike that it was time.
He released his mouth from between her thighs and rocked back onto the floor. Then he took himself in his own hand stroking himself as she settled down onto the floor with him. The album Spike had put on had started playing over again sometime while he collected on his debt and was nearly halfway through again.
Buffy’s eyes burned with desire as she watched him slowly and deliberately stroke himself. She pushed him back roughly onto the rug covered stone floor before swatting his hand away and taking him deeply into her mouth for a moment before positioning herself on top of him. The events of the last several hours made her feel like she had been waiting for this for days.
Even still, she worked herself down slowly. He had taken his sweet time building her up. There was no way she was going to let him get off so easily. Pun intended.
With an impatient growl he thrust into her, matching her movements. She held herself back just a little, teasing him. Spike gasped, “What are you doing, Love?”
Buffy smiled, raking her nails across his chest leaving tiny scratches in their wake. Spike shuddered under her. She grinned as she plunged herself down hard onto him, taking in the rest of his length, filling her up completely. She let out a little gasp. Then leaned in to kiss him hungrily as she allowed herself to adjust to the feeling of him inside her. She felt him pulse within her and gasped again.
Slowly she began to rock, moving carefully, feeling every inch of him gliding in and out of her. She felt her muscles clamp down a little tighter and moved a little faster. Spike growled, he grabbed her roughly and flipped them so she was on the bottom. The force of the flip sent a pleasant shockwave through Buffy’s body.
Spike didn’t wait, he pumped himself into her. A primal sound like a howl escaped him as she met his thrust. Buffy scratched at his back and dug her nails into his sides hard. He hissed with the pain, “Ahh! Buffy!” He screamed her name and bent his head down, biting her neck with blunt teeth.
“Spike!” Buffy screamed as her muscles clamped down sending them both over the edge. Spike continued to thrust slowly as they rode out the wave together.
“You’re incredible, Buffy,” he kissed her as she struggled to catch her breath. “I know I’ve said it before, but it bares repeating, I’ve never been with anyone like you. The way you move. The way you make me feel. The way you combine pain and ecstasy. God, you're amazing.”
“Funny, I was going to say the same thing about you. Sort of a fallen-angel vibe with those sexy curls.”
“Big ‘A’ or little ‘A’, I’m no angel, fallen or otherwise,” he said, pushing himself up.
She pulled him back down, “I was talking about your hair and your smoldering good looks. That’s little ‘A’, fallen-angel, as in an angelic demon. My demon, my man. That’s not, Angel. Angel could never love me the way you do. I need someone who’s a combination of gentleman and monster who loves me for me. All of me. Someone I can give myself to completely. That’s you. Only you.”
“You really are my perfect mate.”
“Birds of a bloody feather,” she grinned using his own words against him.
Spike grinned and kissed her hard, then said, “I think this sexy little nightie is going to have to go.”
“Maybe we could even find the bed?”
“What’d that poor thing ever do to us?” he grinned.
*******************
It was raining the next day which meant Angel could take an earlier train into London. He would arrive in plenty of time to catch an evening flight from London to Rome. Faith had no more than got back to the castle before Angel had finalized his travel plans.
Spike stood in the doorway of Giles’s room. It was almost dinner time and Zara had gone home hours ago. He leaned against the doorframe watching Angel pack. Angel zipped his bag shut and looked up at him knowing that whatever it was he wanted he wouldn’t go away until he got it.
“What do you want?”
“A truce Liam. I wanted to talk to you man to man before you go.”
“If you’re just going to—“
“I’m not here to fight. Got it out of my system. I’m good.”
Angel nodded once, “Ok, so talk.”
Spike crossed into the room and sat down heavily on one of the chairs with his elbows on his thighs and hands clasped in front of him. Spike took a deep breath, “If I could have this conversation with anyone else I would. Just to be clear. I feel like a sodding git asking about this.”
Angel sat on the edge of the couch with his arms folded over his chest, Spike actually looked distressed. He waited expectantly, refusing to give him an inch.
“I wanted to ask you about Darla and— and—“
“Conner.”
“Yeah…”
“You want to know how— how Darla and I—“
“Made the little Junior Mint. Yeah. Is this a soul thing? Is it a prophecy thing? Is this something with our bloodline? Is it something Buffy and I need to talk about? Because right now we’re operating under the assumption that dead men can’t shoot live ammunition—“
“Spike—“
“We need to know what we’re dealing with here, and since you’re the one with the kid and—“
Angel picked up a newspaper laying on the coffee table and threw it at him, “Spike! Would you shut up?”
Spike swatted the paper away, “Forget about me; Buffy has the right to know.”
“Conner was part of a much bigger plan, a god wanted to be born into our world, it…” Angel paused, nearly choking on the words, “It made a lot of things happen that shouldn’t have. Darla came back, they had to have someone in our line re-vamp her—“
“Que Drusilla—“
“And she was just crazy enough to do it. Then they took Cordelia— she was— they used her— Connor was born so the beast that killed her could be born. It was all— it was all a sick game. All of it. The thing used all of us,” he spat.
“You mean— “
“Unless someone’s got big plans for a slayer-vampire mix, you’re still shooting blanks man.”
“Seems there would be easier ways to get that mix. Got a castle full of ‘em after all. All it would take is for one of our lot to change one.”
“Unless they needed one that was alive…”
Spike sat up slowly, bracing his arms on the armrests, “That’s a cheerful thought,” he didn’t sound cheerful at all.
“You’re telling me… although— Darla and I just had a one-night-stand. I didn’t even know she was pregnant until she showed up about ready to pop. The way you two have been going at it you’d probably know it by now. Unless—“
“Unless the wankers are bidding their bloody time.”
“In which case—“
“No amount of birth control would make a bloody difference anyway.”
“They’re not usually known for using the same tricks twice. Not for the big stuff anyway. And Connor was definitely part of something big. God big.”
“I’m still going to talk to Buffy about all this. She’s a smart one but I dunno if she’s thought through that angle yet. Hasn’t mentioned it.”
Angel pressed his lips together and nodded once, “I’m going to regret saying this,” he paused clearing his throat, “If I’m not the guy, I’m glad it’s you over some frat boy or that stupid GI-Joe. At least I know you’ll take care of her and- and I know you’ll treat her the way she deserves—“
“As much as I appreciate the sentiment, you better stop there before we trigger a sodding apocalypse or something.”
Angel smiled bitterly and thrust out his hand. Spike shook his head but stood up to take it. “We’ve both been through a few of those. I think we can chance it,” Angel said.
“So hummm, friends?”
“More like family, but you know, weirder.”
“That’s what I told Buffy,” Spike smirked, “Promised I wouldn’t call you ‘daddy’ though, sorry big guy.”
Angel let out a snort of derision, “Yeah, please don’t.”
******************
It was a few hours later when Buffy and Spike settled back into Giles‘s car after dropping Angel off at the train station. There was something about having closure watching him leave that gave her some solace. She sat back in her seat and closed her eyes. Spike started the ignition and turned to her a little curiously, “Everything alright, Pet?”
She nodded tiredly, “You know, even two years ago, if you would’ve told me I would’ve been this happy to see him go I would’ve thought you were insane.”
“Two years ago I was insane,” he raised an eyebrow.
Buffy rolled her eyes, “Humm yeah, school basement kinda made an impression, Honey. The hair might’ve been sexy if not for the super crazy— that definitely did not give me the warm fuzzies. I just meant it’s weird that all I can think of is how relieved I am to see him go.”
“Yeah well I suppose with the two of us at each other’s throats I can hardly blame you for that… We eh sort of made nice earlier.”
She looked at him sideways, “Of course you did… But like, it’s not even just that. I mean yeah okay you two are idiots and it’s exhausting sometimes to be around that but just in general he can be so glum and moody and… I just can’t wait for a nice normal week, no demon baby, no moody-broody vampire, just us. We can just get back to teaching and slaying the old routine and then over the weekend do something fun,” she puffed out a breath and closed her eyes.
Spike cleared his throat, “I talked to Angel.”
“Humm hmm?” she murmured, she didn’t even open her eyes when she asked, “About?”
“How Conner came to be.”
She opened her eyes and looked at him, “Yeah?”
“Definitely some serious mojo involved there. Like god level stuff.”
“Figured there must have been something big.”
“Yeah of course. Even still I sort of thought it could have something to do with the soul having bit or maybe our bloodline.”
“You were worried about me getting pregnant when I told you it’s something I don’t want.”
“Something like that.”
She hesitated, “And what did he say?”
“Basically that the chances are about one in a zillion. Sounds like this thing had to stack the cards pretty carefully to make Connor happen and he wasn’t even the endgame, this god thing was. Had a disturbing thought though, Slayer-Vamp combo.”
“A Slaypire? Humm yeah, not a new idea,” she shuddered.
“You’d be right, unless they needed it to be alive for some reason.”
“Now that is a creepy thought.”
“Yeah… worse still is the fact that if they want it to happen, it’s going to, no matter what we do. Connor was conceived during a one-night-stand between two living corpses.”
They were both silent for a while as Spike drove along the country road leading to the castle. Buffy finally broke the silence, “Seems pretty obvious then doesn’t it?”
“What’s that?”
“It doesn’t change anything. We’re not talking about the normal rules here which makes it like the biggest question mark ever. So it’s really stupid for us to start worrying about it now right?”
“Thought you might say that.”
She searched his face for a moment, “You wanted to make sure I knew, so I could make my own choices. So I could— Spike— “ she said softly.
“Just want us on the same page, that’s all, Love. Even ground. That’s all I want.”
Buffy reached for his hand, clasping it tight in hers, “Just when I think I couldn’t love you anymore than I already do, you prove me wrong.”
He gave her a little smirk, “It's what I’m here for. Always.”

Faith found herself running through darkly lit underground tunnels her feet drenched by the sewer water her feet was running through while holding a new-born baby wrapped in blankets constantly looking back frantically before turning a corner to find Willow who is standing next to an opened portal anxiously awaiting her.
“Willow there’s just far too many of the bastards if we go through that portal, they’re only going to follow us.” Faith said to her while trying to rock the recently awakened and loudly crying baby back to sleep.
“Then I guess we have no choice but to put the little guy through first and place him somewhere safely while we deal with the unwanted followers.” Willow replied before taking the baby off Faith’s hand and beginning to walk towards the opened portal.
“Don’t worry I’ll hold them off for as long as I can.” Faith promised as she pulled out a wooden stake from her jacket pock while Willow ran through the portal with the baby in her arms.
Willow appeared from out of the other end of the portal with the crying baby boy still in her arms to find herself in a dark alleyway before looking for somewhere safe to place the baby so she could return to help the others.
“Well I’m definitely not going to win any best aunt award anytime soon for dumping my new-born nephew in some dank alleyway, but I promise aunt Willow will be right back the minute she and mummy slay the mean old monsters.” Willow said to the baby boy as she took of her jacket, wrapped it around the baby and placed him on the ground. “We will be right back I promise.”
The baby boy continued to cry louder and louder as Willow ran back through the opened portal to return to the underground tunnels finding Faith fighting with several vampires. Willow quickly summoned a sunlight ball instantly turning the vampires within the proximity to dust.
The joy didn’t last long as the portal suddenly shut itself leaving no trace of it ever being there just in time for Buffy to appear running from around the corner.
“Willow where is the portal?” Buffy asked frantically. “Willow where is my son?”
“I don’t know.” A confused and heartbroken Willow replied.
A random brown-haired girl found herself running down a dark alleyway one night one like the alleyway in which Buffy’s son was abandoned. The girl continued to look behind her truly terrified of whatever was chasing her until in a typical cliche fashion she found herself reaching a literal dead end only for the girl to laugh as fear fell from her face.
This girl was no ordinary girl she was a slayer and she had just lured a vampire into a trap believing she had the upper hand in the situation not truly knowing what she had just let herself in for.
“You literally have no idea who you are dealing with.” She smugly said as a tall dark and handsome man appeared from out of the shadows only to laugh at her response before twisting his face into revealing his vampire face.
The girl quickly stormed her way towards the vampire after pulling a wooden stake out of her jacket leading to her kicking the vampire in the face only to find him quickly jumping back from her hit to punch her across the face as the slayer and the vampire began a fight to the death.
Upon several minutes of brutal fighting between the slayer and the vampire she finally got the better of the vampire kicking him to the ground and prepared to steak him but before she stood a chance a tall, skinny, long raven haired man appeared from out of the shadows instantly grabbing the slayer’s attention.
“I guess there’s a new slayer in town,” He bluntly said, “I thought your kind knew this was my city now.”
The slayer rushed towards her next opponent only for the stranger to quickly get the better of her delivering several punches before kicking her into some nearby bins. However, the girl was no quitter and quickly jumped back onto her feet at the same time the dark-haired vampire raised to his feet.
“Leave this one to me Dante.” The stranger ordered the vampire as the slayer marched over towards him.
Another fight began between the slayer and the stranger this one even bloodier and more brutal than the slayer’s fight against the vampire only this time this seemingly human man was getting the better of her.
In a last-ditch effort to win back the fight the slayer launched her wooden stake towards the stranger’s chest only for him to catch her arm instantly snapping it with force before pushing her down to the ground.
“Wooden stakes only work on vampires darling,” He revealed to her. “And I am no vampire.”
The sinister stranger with long raven hair was not a vampire although his friend Dante was, this man was none other than Tristan Summers, Buffy’s son, the baby who was once abandoned in an alleyway like the one he had just taken down a slayer in.
Tumblr media
Following a successful night hunting Tristan and Dante found themselves making out behind the counter of a demonic dive bar located within New York, a dive bar in which the two men ran together as the demonic, monstrous and vampiric clientele drank their varied drinks throughout the busy bar.
Tristan and Dante’s intimate moment together was quickly interrupted when three male vampires came bursting through the front door.
“I heard you caught another slayer boss.” The first vampire said with excitement. “We came as soon as we heard.”
Tristan pulled himself away from his vampire lover before jumping over the bar counter and walking towards his three vampire minions who are instantly terrified by their boss’ quick movements before staring his minions down making sure they feared him and getting off on that fact.
“I was just about to start a game of darts.” Tristan said with a sinister smirk before ushering their attention over to the other end of the bar to reveal the girl he and Dante had caught earlier tied down in chains to a wooden table flipped on its side.
The slayer was bound and unable to move or escape from her chains while blood poured out from her on various wounds on her broken and bruised body looking in a lot of pain with several darts launched into her body which only served to amuse the bar’s customers.
“The trick to being a good darts player is not only changing the dart board to something of your own liking,” Tristan said demanding the entire bar’s attention as he picked up a dart from a nearby table and launched it in the slayer’s direction, the dart launching into her shoulder and causing her to scream in pain. “It also helps to dip the darts in some poison so if it’s not a bulls-eye it’s still going to hurt.”
“They will come for me and you will all be nothing but dust and bloody limbs.” The slayer screamed at the entire bar.
“No this is a respectable business please don’t be threatening my staff.” Tristan replied sarcastically while walking over towards the slayer.
“How could you turn on your own kind for these monsters?” The slayer asked him as she came face to face with her defeater.
“These monsters are some of my closest friends in fact some I would go as far to say were family.” Tristan corrected her while grabbing her with force by the throat. “Slayers are all fools playing heroes which only serves to shorten your life span.”
Tristan wasted no time in tearing out two darts from the slayer’s weakened body before launching the darts one into each eye causing the slayer to scream out in agonizing pain before Tristan grabbed a hold of her neck once again this time with both hands before snapping her neck and by doing so claiming the slayer’s life.
“We were supposed to keep her alive long enough to get some information about who sent her to New York Tristan.” Dante moaned before jumping over the bar counter and beginning to walk towards his twisted lover.
“You worry far too much my darling,” Tristan responded before passionately kissing his boyfriend. “She’s probably just another foolish slayer who took a wrong turn just like the others.”
“My love we can’t afford to take chances not with her constantly on the move.” Dante warned the love of his undead life.
“Feel free to feast away boys I’m sure the poison would just a little kick to the taste but once you’re done snacking, dump the body outside of city limits like usual.” Tristan ordered his three minion vampires.
His vampiric minions waste no time in rushing their way over to the slayer’s corpse and sinking their fangs into several different locations on her body while Dante continued to look at Tristan unimpressed by his actions.
“What if other slayers knew where she was?” Dante asked. “What if she knew where she was?”
“New York City is ours and nobody will take it from us.” Tristan stated before kissing his lover once again.
“Your mother has proven to be quite the opponent over the years I’d hate for your ego to hurt you my love.” Dante warned him before grabbing Tristan by the waist and pulling him in for another kiss.
“I’ve been ready to meet Buffy Summers for years I can’t wait to see how I fare against the legend herself and I can’t wait to see that look on her face when she realizes she was bet by her own blood.” Tristan replied smugly clearly ready in his head to meet his mother.
A few nights later a clearly not aged Faith found herself riding down a dark road in the outskirts of New York City on her black motorbike before pulling up at the side of the road before getting off her bike and  walking into the forest as she pulled a phone out of her pocket switched on a torch setting and dialed Willow in loudspeaker keeping her hands free to walk through the forest and find what she was looking for.
“I know when hunting woods for a body comes across your mind you instantly think of me but it’s no fun looking for the body the fun is in burying it.” Faith said sarcastically to Willow after she answered her call.
“Well I’m afraid woods and dead bodies is kind of a touchy subject for me since the whole well you know.” Willow replied through the phone. “We need to find out if this girl is the dead slayer we’ve been looking for because if she is then we have some serious problems rising in New York.”
“Okay well now I’m officially hoping it’s her no offense to the girl or anything but if her dead proves the rumors then it means I’ve got myself a party to attend to in the big apple.” Faith responded while continuing to walk through the woods in search of the dead slayer.
“Sadly, I’m pretty certain your going to find her my spells are rarely ever wrong these days.” Willow admitted just as Faith found the slayer’s bloodied and wounded corpse abandoned on the ground without a single fear of the body being found.
“Well congratulations Will it looks like you’re right once again,” Faith revealed while examining the corpse. “It looks like these fuckers really went to town on the poor girl.”
“Oh, goddess this isn’t good,” Willow sighed through the phone. “I know what you’re thinking Faith but please don’t step foot in New York until we send some back up.”
“No offense Willow but I’m not waiting around for the brownie brigade we both know I’m more of a one-woman army.” Faith replied making it clear to Willow she wanted to handle this situation solo.
“Faith the last time a slayer went into that city well your looking at what happened.” Willow warned her.
“Not one to cause offense while literally lingering over the girl’s dead body but a newbie slayer hardly has anything on me.” Faith boasted before hanging up on Willow not allowing her the chance to try and talk her out of her mission.

A shirtless Dante walked into his bedroom within the apartment located above his and Tristan’s bar while holding two glasses of champagne in his hands eager to cheer up his sulking lover Tristan who was sitting on the edge of their bed looking far from impressed.
“I’m still mad at you for disrespecting me in front of our peers the other night,” Tristan moaned as he stood up to face Dante. “You know I don’t like it when you argue with them in front of me it gives them the idea that I’ll tolerate disrespect of any king.”
“I was merely worrying about my lover’s safety.” Dante replied while flexing his impressive muscles before handing Tristan his glass of champagne.
“You should have more faith in me by now.” Tristan snapped before downing his glass of champagne in one long gulp.
“Tristan Summers you are well and truly remarkable the most delightfully wicked thing that has ever happened to me.” Dante admitted to his dangerous and deadly boyfriend. “I just fear sometimes about losing you and everything we’ve worked so hard for.”
“You know for a soulless blood sucking creature you are quite the caring boyfriend.” Tristan said with a sinister smirk almost as if he was mocking his lover for caring about him.
Dante down his drink in one gulp just like his lover before grabbing a hold of Tristan’s glass and throwing both glasses against the wall causing them to smash instantly as he looked at Tristan furiously before exposing his vampire face once again much to Tristan’s own enjoyment.
“Now that’s the monster I love.” Tristan said before Dante ripped his shirt open with his hands and threw Tristan down onto the bed before climbing on top of him and kissing him passionately.
Faith got off her motorbike once again only this time she had parked it in a parking lot just outside of a seeking looking motel as she stood looking at the building with a dreaded sense of nostalgia having spent most of her adult life living in motel room after motel room.
“If you’re doing any tricks in the room love then you have to pay by the hour.” The old fat and balding male receptionist said to her as she slammed money down at the reception desk.
“I don’t know whether to take that as a compliment or beat your ugly ass for calling me a whore lucky for you it’s been a long night, so I’ll take it as a compliment.” Faith snapped at him before collecting her keys and walking back out of the reception and down towards her motel room.
Before long she found herself in her bed and fast asleep after a quick shower but unfortunately she didn’t get much sleep before being awakened by the sound of foot steps in her room wasting no time to attack she quickly launched herself out of the bed before pushing a dark figured man up against a wall harshly only to switch the lights on to see Angel in front of her eyes.
“I know you’re a girl who’s fond of her sleep but you’re not really going to kill the closest thing you have to a friend just for waking you up, are you?” He asked her jokingly as the two laughed about the confusion before she let go of her vampire friend.
“You should know better than to sneak up on me Angel.” She replied. “I thought you were a vampire well one of the soulless varieties.”
“I’m actually here because of a certain vampire called Dante,” Angel revealed to her as he pulled a folder out of his jacket and threw it down on her bed. “I’ve been following him and his powerful little friend for quite some time now and I’m guessing Willow sent you here for the same reason.”
“So, the vampire has himself a witch friend then?” She asked before picking up the folder, opening it and beginning to have a skim through the pages.
“He’s supposedly human but much stronger than your average human in fact he’s taken down a few slayers allegedly.” Angel explained to her. “There’s rumors that he’s actually one of the very few male slayers in the world and went rogue.”
“So, I’m hunting down a rogue slayer got to love the irony.” Faith said sarcastically while continuing to skim through the pages.
“This supposed slayer and his vampire friend are quite the troublesome duo they’ve got many in New York utterly terrified of them.” Angel admitted.
“I guess that means one dead slayer and one pile of dust coming right up.” Faith responded before throwing the folder back down on her bed. “What are you not telling me.”
“Dante was sired by Drusilla in fact she considers him a son and he lives up to our twisted family legacy.” Angel revealed to a shocked Faith. “He’s very dangerous.”
“I’m guessing this means you want to tag along for the ride so you can have a reunion with your sired one’s sired one.” Faith guessed correctly.
“Dante is dangerous enough by himself and his friend seems to be just as powerful a threat we need to take this one seriously.” Angel warned her.
“Okay then boss man what’s the plan?” She asked.
“It’s time for the original rogue slayer to meet the latest slayer gone bad.” Angel replied with a cunning smile.
Tumblr media
Tristan found himself stood up against the wall outside of his demonic dive bar during the day while smoking a cigarette only to be left shocked to see a brunette rogue beauty appear from around the street corner before the rogue beauty walked up towards him.
“You don’t happen to have a smoke going spare?” She asked him.
“Humans don’t normally have the courage to come around this party of the city.” He replied while continue to smoke his cigarette.
“Well it’s a good thing I’m not entirely human.” She revealed to him. “I’m a slayer in fact I’m probably the most infamous slayer ever to live.”
“So, slayers are just actively seeking me out in the daylight now.” Tristan laughed before throwing his cigarette across the street. “A death wish really does come with the calling then.”
“I’m not like most slayers you see I’m infamous for a reason,” Faith went on to say instantly grabbing Tristan’s attention. “I’m Faith and something tells me you’ve heard all about me.”
And Tristan did hear about Faith he heard all about Faith Lehane and was very happy to finally meet her.

A Buffy rewatch 5x11 Triangle
aka buddy comedy Buffy style
Welcome to this dailyish text post series where I will rewatch an episode of Buffy and go on an impromptu rant about it for an hour. Is it about one hyperspecific thing or twenty observations? 10 or 3k words? You don’t know! I don’t know!!! In this house we don’t know things.
And today’s episode has a bit more to it than I remember, but at its core, it’s still a classic premise of two characters at odds being forced to work together and grow and bond along the way. Well, maybe “bond” is a strong word for it. “Tolerate each other more” is probably slightly more accurate.
Tumblr media
I have fond memories of Triangle for all of those scenes between Willow and Anya, which is why I was slightly thrown off by the fact that this episode actually has other storylines going on as well. Shocking, I know.
There’s Buffy dealing with the fallout of her break-up with Riley, and latching onto Xander and Anya’s relationship as her last hope in romance for some reason (even though Willow and Tara are also… right there). There’s Giles’ offscreen trip to England, and having Dawn overhear their discussion at the end about her being the Key. And then there’s also Spike’s whole deal.
That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy those things about the episode though. On the contrary, it’s always an unexpected treat to re-discover moments like the early scene between Joyce and her daughters, and then Dawn following Buffy into her room just to lend her an ear to talk about her feelings about the Riley departure. It was such a sweet sisterly thing to do, and I love that whole exchange - even if it somewhat clashes with the more outrageous comedic elements of the episode when it comes to portraying Buffy’s state of mind.
It should also come as no surprise that I absolutely love that we see a lot of Buffy and Tara in this episode as well. (They’re taking a class together and talking about where they’ll sit next time. Someone please link me to some quality Buffy/Tara college fics, thnx.) I also just generally love how Tara is integrated more into the group, and we see her playing a slight buffer role between Willow and Anya and then between the two and Xander too. There are unfortunately still moments though where I feel like the writers just don’t know what to do with her, like in that last fight scene, where she’s just standing around in the background.
And it hurts my soul, because I love Tara, and she’ll have many strong moments throughout the show, but imagine how much more we could’ve been given still? They wouldn’t even put Amber Benson in the credits until her very last episode, the absolute cowards.
Tumblr media
Anyways. Willow and Anya.
I’ve been talking about Willow’s jealous streaks in the past. She appears to be especially hostile towards Xander’s love interests throughout the show, but with Bad Girls, we also see that the same type of emotions can arise when it comes to Buffy’s love interests.
(Yes, I am just going to keep calling Faith Buffy’s love interest without any quotation marks or whatnot and you can’t stop me.)
She’s even self-aware of this in Consequences. “I kind of have an issue with Faith sharing my people.” And in this episode, Anya calls out the same thing:
ANYA:  You don’t want anyone else to have [Xander].
And yet, as frustrated as Willow was in season 4 about Buffy ditching the gang for Riley, she never really took that out on Riley. Part of that must have been that she had her own stuff going on with Tara for sure, and maybe the other part is that by season 5, Buffy really wasn’t all that focused on Riley in the first place. There was no reason for Willow to feel slighted or replaced.
That’s sort of one of Willow’s core fears I believe. Being replaced or becoming less special in her friends’ lives. And maybe that fear is more potent when it comes to other women than with a male love interest, because Willow feels less threatened by those? There’s probably a lot to unpack there.
But remember too, Willow is self-aware of this about herself. So maybe that’s why she didn’t have it in for Riley, because she didn’t really have any other reason to hate him; whereas Faith betrayed Buffy and assaulted Xander right around the time she started to resent her.
Faith is probably the best case example for Willow’s jealousy, not just because it relates to both Buffy and Xander, but because we can actually see her getting along with Faith before her heel-turn. (Unlike with someone like Cordelia, who they pretty much were in a feud for all of high school apparently.)
It’s not that Willow and Faith had tons of scenes together, but they were fine with the other. And even with Bad Girls, we don’t really see Willow taking out her feelings on Faith. She’s only confronting Buffy about it in Consequences. Her being openly hostile towards Faith comes after what Faith did to Buffy and Xander in that episode.
Which is why I like the reading we get in this episode; that Willow’s main source of dislike for Anya comes from her fear of Anya eventually hurting Xander.
I still think that there’s more to it though. Willow has been making snide and cruel remarks about Anya ever since early season 4. It feels personal, not to mention that it started way before Xander and Anya’s relationship became serious enough to lead to one of them seriously hurting the other. So… the jealousy is probably still a factor.
But also, there is actually some personal history here too with Doppelgangland. Anya used Willow for a spell that ended up bringing her evil vampire alterego to their world, so there’s a whole lot of trust issues and baggage there to begin with. (And that’s without using the later metaphoric interpretation of magic from season 4. I mean… “It did get a little sexy, didn’t it?”)
We’ve also just got a classic setup of two characters with similar and opposite traits in ways that will never allow them to bond above a certain level on the show. Where Anya is blunt and forward, Willow is self-conscious and cagey. While Willow tiptoes and calculates, Anya just bulldozes through everything.
And yet as Anya points out, both of them have also been approached by D’Hoffryn to become vengeance demons, proving that they both have the potential for great destruction. They feel things very deeply, are not especially good at dealing with strong, negative emotions, and are prone to lash out with them. They will also both have a complex relationship to their power eventually.
So I like that this is the conflict that we’re still left with. They mostly resolve the part that involves Xander, but these are still two very different and yet similar characters who will continue to have trouble relating to each other. And that can be okay.
When Anya confronts Willow about her own fears, regarding how Willow might poison Xander against her, we’ve also got what I believe is our first confirmation from Willow regarding her sexuality. I’ll just bookmark that line and its exact wording (“Gay now!”), and put it away for now. I might get back to it before the end of the season. Because I don’t know what’s good for me.
One thing’s for sure, I really enjoyed the episode, and having Willow and Anya work together by the end to help Buffy to defeat Olaf.

Good job, team!

I had this dumb modern au idea with post-Eyghon Ripper in his guilt-funk with his band like in Angel & Faith #18 after ditching Ethan&Co, and because youtube and patreon are things they're well-known and well-funded and they end up doing a US tour? They're doing a gig at the Bronze when the Harvest starts going down and Buffy's pissed 'cause she wanted to party tonight but noooo, wait did the lead singer just break his guitar to stake a vamp with the fretboard? A very different show begins.
i took five thousand years to answer this absolutely incredible ask but i want you to know that i’ve been thinking about this a lot and i want it very badly....specifically bc dorky leather jacket disaster giles who can also sing his way out of trouble (not really but buffy keeps on trying to get him to use it as a distraction tactic bc she thinks it’s funny) would be WILDLY entertaining 2 me

Homecoming (BTVS 3.05)
This is part of my ongoing Buffy Project, where I write notes/meta for every episode in an attempt to better understand the characters and themes of the show. You can find the full list here. Gifs are not mine.

Homecoming is when we finally meet the infamous Mayor.
Buffy remains isolated from her friends as they excitedly discuss plans for the homecoming dance. Willow and Xander both have someone to go with, but Scott hasn’t asked Buffy yet and she’s not that into it anyway. He breaks up with her before the dance (ouch) for this very distance and mentions the way she used to seem full of life. The trauma of Angelus has really changed her. I can’t really blame Scott for dumping her. He could have picked a better time, but her lack of interest in him was pretty clear.
Speaking of, after pretending to be tired Buffy ditches Scott to visit Angel. She brings him blood and tries to update him on her life but he seems distant until she mentions having a boyfriend. It was honestly a weird conversation...Angel clearly isn’t ready for small talk yet.
After missing out on picture day and being dumped before the dance Buffy is feeling pretty low. She decides to compete for Homecoming Queen to prove to Cordelia she’s not a loser (and to recapture her old life). Buffy brings out her old cattiness and is pretty mean to Cordelia and the other girls (the things she writes on the strengths/weaknesses board). Both Willow and Cordelia find it baffling she wants to run because she’s the slayer. To them she’s literally got the universe’s validation...why should she need more? But Buffy doesn’t see it that way. They compete fiercely. Cordelia makes a crack about Hank not being around and Buffy calls her a vapid whore. Yikes. It’s interesting to note that Cordelia buys classmates an elaborate gift basket (whoah money) to win their vote while Buffy later mentions she spent a year’s allowance on her dress.
I loved Faith’s support of Buffy this episode. She offers to go with Buffy to the dance and then breaks up Scott and his new date. I can understand why she felt betrayed by Buffy’s secret. Buffy just had no idea how important her friendship was to Faith.
Faith: Scott, there you are, Honey. Good news -- doctor says the itching and the swelling and the burning should clear up, but we gotta keep using the ointment.
This is the first episode in which Xander and Willow start messing around. I know there are many different interpretations of why this went down. Mine is that Willow (of course) idolized Xander for so long that when he finally looked at her she jumped at the chance. I don’t agree that Willow was over Xander when she began dating Oz: he knew she was trying to get back at Xander at one point and she began dating him mostly to force herself to move on. I feel like Xander didn’t think of Willow that way until someone else did, and I also think he was a bit possessive of her and saw her as someone who would always be there as an option for him. He might have had feelings but he thought he had forever to decide if he wanted to act on them. So when she began dating Oz he was like...wait a minute.
Willow and Xander’s guilt over their betrayal causes them to take Cordelia’s side in the fight. They are also mopey at the dance as Oz plays a song he wrote for Willow. This was a tough situation, but I don’t agree with the way they carried on behind Cordelia and Oz’s backs. It would have been better to just tell them they had feelings and weren’t sure what to do.
Buffy: Do you really love Xander?
Cordelia: Well, he just...grows on you. Like a Chia pet.
One of the interesting things about Buffy is how many ideas the show throws at you. Many of the monster-of-the-week’s could be expanded into Big Bads. Slayerfest ‘98 could have been a big thing: many monsters attacking from all sides, etc. But it’s all summed up in this episode and for that I’m grateful. The villains weren’t that complex (although I believe the vampire was the one who ran off in Bad Eggs). Each year we get a different sort of Big Bad. Season one had the classic ground-dwelling monster, season two was a monster with the face of someone we loved, and season three is a monster that seems civilized and even has his good aspects--he’s dedicated to running the city). The Mayor is a perfectionist (with some OCD I think) who seems clean as a whistle but hides a black heart.
One of the best moments of the episode was Cordelia running off the vampire with just her words. I love badass Cordy moments. I also liked the moment when they announced a tie and you’re prepared for both Cordelia and Buffy to win, but instead the other two contestants do. Buffy is good at surprising you.
Character Notes:
Cordelia Chase: Cordy probably blamed her Homecoming Queen loss on being so involved with Xander and the Scoobies. It probably hurt all the more when he cheated because she gave up her popularity (something very important to her) for him. Her yearbook picture is perfect.
Xander Harris: His yearbook picture is a dorky smile. He mentions that his wealthy relatives shun him...”as they should”.
Willow Rosenberg: After the photographer takes a minute her winning smile becomes concerned.
Daniel Osbourne: His picture is a blank stare.
Mayor Wilkins: He mentions his mother saying cleanliness is next to godliness. His life story is intriguing.
Buffy Summers: At Hemery she was Prom Princess. Fiesta Queen, and the yearbook was like a story of her.
Rupert Giles: Giles says he wants to be there when they announce who wins Homecoming Queen for Buffy. Aww.
