The Embraer Phenom 300E. A single pilot certified light business jet developed by Brazilian 🇧🇷 aerospace manufacturer Embraer. This aircraft is the second purpose-built business jet, preceded by the Phenom 100. The Phenom 300 is a stretched version capable of carrying up to 10 passengers faster, longer, and higher. The jet is powered by two rear-pylon-mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E turbofan engines. The cockpit is equipped with a Garmin-G3000-based Prodigy Touchscreen flight management system. It’s capable of 5 passengers, with reserves, up to 2,000nm at 454 knots, or Mach .78, at an altitude of up to 45,000 ft. The aircraft has very favorable flight handling characteristics, a spacious cabin, a full bathroom, and the latest technologies and comforts. It flys extremely smooth, is balanced on controls, and provides excellent power, climbing to cruise altitude in around 20 minutes. Importantly, it eliminates the ground-mounted yoke, in favor of a dash-mounted smaller variant. Ground-mounted yokes, in my opinion, greatly hinder situational awareness, visibility, and movement. Thankfully, this jet abandons the traditional Embraer cockpit, which I find to be poorly designed. I’m not usually a fan of Embraer aircraft, however, because of these important differences, I generally find the aircraft to be a solid choice in the light business jet category. The aircraft is missing one very important element, it does not have an auto throttle system, placing an unnecessary burden upon the pilot. Any aircraft of this class should include auto throttle control systems as standard equipment.
