Since I believe in sharing, I'm gonna leave this here. Idk who it'll help, if anybody, but I'd feel bad if I kept it to myself.

If you're trying to play Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill (Original Version), or Nancy Drew: Stay Tuned For Danger on a Linux device via Wine/Lutris/CrossOver/etc., and everything seems to be working fine except the audio, which skips to the next file/track without any input, then try this:

Open your Wine Bottle's C: Drive, and navigate to your game's installation directory.

Locate the "Game.ini" file, and open it in whatever .txt editor your distro has (like gedit).

Find, within the file, where it says "UseDirectSound"

This setting should be set to a value of 1, by default.

Backspace the 1 and type a 0 (zero) in its place.

Save the file.

The audio shouldn't skip anymore, and if that was your only issue running the game, it should run a-okay now.

Is this a safe space to say that of all the Nancy games we’ve played so far the culprit that caught my sister and I by surprise the most was from SCK remastered?

(We just didn’t consider them to be an option, no idea why in hindsight. Regardless it was an ego hit when looking up the general consensus on that game and everyone was like “the culprit was so obvious”) (which is correct)

I do have proof however that we eventually figured out the culprit in Deception island before the reveal (it did take us a while we were on the case of the non culprit for a WHILE)

the last of maxine's diner posters - like the last bunch I found these in the Art Explosion 600,000 clip art pack and added colour to match the ones in-game

the gym hallway sportsball posters are also from Art Explosion 600,000

back to Maxine's, HeR did a decent job recreating coca-cola's mildly horrifying soda-boy ads :)

basically all of the clip art in and around the school and Paseo del Mar comes from the corel gallery collection (thank you again internet archive, even if i will never regain the time i spent digging through so, so much questionable clip art). at one point i was going to try recreating a bunch of the in-game stuff, but honestly? i just lost interest. I got as far as colourizing the 50s dance and diner girl above, so here they are

dearest friends, do any of y’all know how to get the original SCK to work on windows 11? I have the discs and was able to get it installed through safe mode, but now it will not run at all (I get a weird clip board error???). I emailed HER’s support but idk if theyll actually help :((((
