Book of Boba Fett ep. 7 review (spoilers)
I really enjoyed the final episode of this show. Although it wasn’t the strongest episode, it was still a lot of fun with some great moments. I did like seeing all of the characters together. Even the biker gang wasn’t as annoying which I’m glad about. Also, Cad Bane supremacy. Space cowboy once again proved why he is my favorite bounty hunter.
So, that mid-credits scene. My man, Cobb Vanth, good to have you back. Btw, I really love how “The Marshal” theme always plays when the members of Freetown come and save the day.
The best part by far was Cad Bane. My second favorite blue boy and favorite space cowboy proves once again why is the best. I love his new theme. While Bad Batch gave him a more western cowboy vibe (he is literally the space cowboy), BoBF gives him more of an ominous theme. It suits him as he now past his prime and can’t go running about anymore. So, the slowed down, dangerous tone of his new theme fits. I did find it funny when he was called an old man because it’s true. My man is breaking the world record for oldest Duros bounty hunter. Is that even a thing? At least his speed and timing isn’t off. I lowkey thought Boba would best him but no. Cad Bane still got it. Of course, I knew Boba would eventually triumph, which he did in the end, but it was cool nonetheless. While I thought Cad would die via blaster wound instead of a stab, I did like that Boba proved him wrong that Boba had gone completely soft. I gotta say, I’m glad we got an end to Cad Bane’s story. Dude outlived like a good chunk of prequel/clone wars characters which I was not expecting. Look, I can sit and talk about Cad Bane all day so let’s move on.
I loved Mando and Boba fighting scenes! It was really cool to see them fight together and kick Pyke butt. Btw, I knew the Pykes killed the Tuskens. There was on way the Niktos did it. Even now, Boba still deeply cares for the tribe who accepted him. One more note, loved that Boba used his gaffi stick against Cad. He finally got his true revenge. Back to Mando and Boba. Seeing Mando use the darksaber was awesome and Boba looked really cool riding his rancor. The rancor’s King Kong nod was neat.
The other characters were cool to. Krrsantan got some awesome action in there and I’m glad he didn’t die via Trandoshans. Fennec sniping the Pyke leader at the end along with the other heads of Mos Espa “leaders” was epic. She wasn’t playing around. The Freetown fighters coming in with “The Marshal” theme playing was epic and even the biker gang got some good moments.
Mando and Grogu reuniting and flying off to whatever adventure awaits made my heart swell. I knew Grogu wouldn’t leave his dad. I love their relationship very much. And are they hinting that Grogu’s Aunty Peli might be interested in the majordomo? Idk.
I think my one major criticism is why Boba and Fennec showed almost no recognition of Cad when he arrived. I thought they’d talk about him more since both competed against him for bounties. It’s been a while since they saw him but you’d think they’d be like, “hey, its that guy I knew from way back. let’s watch out for him.” Other than that, this episode was enjoyable and I’m glad Boba is now respected by Mos Espa for saving them.
Anyways, that’s all folks. See y’all during the next Star Wars show! 😊 And in the words of Mando, this is the way.

Blurr for the character ask thing? (btw i rlly like reading ur thoughts on em!! real cool stuff)
op come off of Anon so I can give u big kissy I’m begging u/j  seriously tho oh my god that’s like the best compliment u could ever give me ever I love talking about my interests and when other people enjoy it, it just makes it even better! I’ll gladly do Velocity for ya!!! I simp for this man tho be warned.
First impression
okay so back when I was watching Prime, funnily enough, I found a TFA Sh*ckblurr fanfic and read it, but I had no idea who tf Blurr was so technically my first impression was that he was some oc/self insert.
But I doubt that’s the answer u want so I will say right off the bat I loved him and hated it because I very much knew he would die. I also was hardcore into the idea of Bee falling in love with this fucking,,, blue car the first time it saved him not knowing it was a person because that’d be fucking hilarious.
Impression now
I love him so fucking much he is an absolute fave of mine. I love how strict n angry he is when Bee fucking disrespects him and I feel like he would look him in the eye and call him a dumb fucking bottom.
he’s probably one of the only sensible bots in the elite guard and I love that he’s smart and also talks so fucking weird at the same time. The fucking way that he says “Which while technically accurate lacks a certain creativity.” And the noise he makes when Shockwave attacks him ugh I Want to Marry Him.
Favorite moment
WHEN HE RAN ACROSS THE GALAXY TO GET TO CYBERTRON? I FELL IN  L O  VE. Seeing that scene unironically makes me Simp hard for Blurr. seeing his drive and determination and How fucking Cool he is. It’s so so good, just the perfect way to show off his entire character. Getting irritated at the Starscream clones and scolding them angrily and then being an absolute badass as he gets away? Not to be gay but dkfljcwhmlfiunw34hf89nhe98rghecufcyg8edffadsf I love Him,
When I think of Blurr I think of that sequence and I wish more people did tbh.
Idea for a story
KINDA ENEMIES TO LOVERS BLURRBEE FANFIC WHEN? Okay I love the fluff there is of these two but the idea of an au where Blurr stays with the crew sounds amazing because I think Bee would absolutely Hate it. How Dare Blurr be a faster twink than he is Bee is constantly back talking Blurr n being rude n sassy to him while Blurr is getting tired of this short ass twink He is trying to do important Elite Guard stuff and does Not need this sass!
But eventually, Blurr does smth kickass and Bee is like ‘oh no I’m in love’ But now that he has,,, been being an ass to Blurr for so long he had no idea how to deal with this change in events, and when he starts being more of his usual self and being nice to Blurr, Blurr is like ‘oh no I’m in love’ but still thinks Bee does not like him that much so he doesn’t know how to deal with this change in events.
Unpopular opinion
I Will never understand why 80% of the fandom portrays him they way they do. Blurr may not be super graceful or talk in a normal way but he is pretty fucking clever, he was the one who figured out how to get out of mixmaster’s concrete.
To me he is a strict but caring mech who really does want to do the best for Cybertron and will stop at nothing to do it. He ran across the galaxy for the people he wants to protect and fought till the end he is anything but nervous baby UwU. And no amount of that weird-ass brainwashing or manipulating Shockwave does in any of those fanfics would stop him.
When Longarm attacked him out of nowhere Blurr made a point of not freezing up, he may have freaked out who wouldn’t but he didn’t let himself get caught even in the midst of figuring out what was going on. This mech knows what he’s doing.
Also, Sh*ckblurr makes no sense to me,,, unless Shockwave renounced being a con or proved he didn’t want to hurt people and wasn’t a threat to Cybertron I’m pretty sure Blurr would obliterate him instantly given the chance.
He can be kind of an ass too and like, that’s okay ur faves can,,, not always be super nice soft boys I like Blurr being a bit of an ass. That’s just a fun character flaw y’all.
Favorite relationship
Him and Bee’s bickering was really cute and funny to see and the thing in the manga where they take down Lugnut and Blitzwing is amazing I cannot express how cute it is to see them merrily whistling away <3
Wish we had seen more of it but oh well... It gives me all the fuel I need to think about them on a daily basis so really where’s the loss?
Favorite headcanon
Blurr’s handwriting is fucking chicken scratch, Longarm and Cliff have just resorted to forcing him to let other people write out his reports for him even though Blurr insists he can read it just fine...
Also he was a cadet around the same time Longarm Bee Wasp n Ironhide were and he was an absolute show off, so the other cadets all hated him. Bc of that for a while he was just an errand bot in the Elite guard mostly delivering stuff from place to place which humbled him and mellowed him out a bit to be the Intel Agent we know now, and now he is super embarrassed by his younger self’s behavior. <3

Obedient Servant (She-Ra Short Animatic) I love the artsyle here, especially how Catra is drawn. February 3: 2x05 The Apple
Today’s ep: The Apple!
I feel like people who enjoy hating on TOS probably especially hate The Apple but I like it and will defend it so--haters be gone.
I do think it’s an uncomfortable episode and asks questions with no good answers, but that’s a plus, not a minus, for it.
I love this red sky. It’s very alien.
Okay so Starfleet wants the planet explored and “the inhabitants contacted.”
I can’t believe Spock, who must know that Kirk has unrealistic fantasies of a simple, romantic life outside of the demands of Starfleet, just happens to mention that the soil is “good for husbandry.” Like “This would be a great place to settle down and farm, Captain. no reason for saying so. Just thought you should know." And Kirk tries to capitalize on this flirting and Spock doesn’t get it.
Bones is so personally affronted that Chekov thinks of Russia, not Eden.
This Yeoman is all up on Chekov.
Scotty angling for an invite to the surface.
Kirk picking flowers! Smelling the flowers! He is soft and likes plants.
“This isn’t a field experiment in human biology.” First lol. Second... isn’t it a little though?
“I know you find each other fascinating.” Interesting word choice there.
Sorry yet a third bullet point on Daddy Kirk telling the young people to calm themselves down it’s hilaaaaarious.
I love Spock in this episode. He’s always at his best when he gets to turn his scientific curiosity to stuff. Because like he loves new, weird stuff but he’s also very funny about it. “An analysis of this rock should prove interesting.” Then he just throws the other half away! And it explodes! And he’s not even embarrassed, he just thinks the explosion is cool.
Ugh this is one of my favorite underrated K/S moments: the “Jim!” the “Spock!” Spock putting himself in danger for Kirk. Kirk being grumbly about Spock being hurt. Concerned space husbands.
“Spock has been injured...this is a nightmare.”
Honestly, I love everything about this triumvirate scene too. “Dr. McCoy’s potions turn my stomach.” Spock’s clumsiness (he really isn’t graceful lol... I sometimes think people want to imagine he is, but he is NOT). “Do you know how much Starfleet has invested in you?”
I legit jumped at the explosion.
“His father helped me get into the Academy.” Interesting. How? What help did he need?
“I could have prevented all of this.” / “I don’t see how.” Spock is so....he’s so emotional about defending Kirk’s decisions and making Kirk feel better.
“As my father told me, Starfleet is dangerous.”
...I’m sorry I’m getting so many Spock and Kirk and K/S feelings right now.
This Spock and Chekov distraction conversation is hilarious. “Uh--you’re dumb!”
That’s not very nice, Kirk, just punching the confused humanoid.
“Vaal is Vaal” reminds me of that Daria episode with “Val.” “I’m Val, as in, VAL!”
“We come in peace,” says the man who just punched him.
Antennae! Spock wants to touch the interesting alien.
Scotty knows more about the Enterprise than the people who designed her.
Fire AND burned up in flames? Not a good day for Scotty.
Great Vaal design. This is not an ironic comment.
Not a good day for Spock either. That’s injury... 2?? Force field that knocks him on his ass.
“We have been introduced to Vaal.”
Don’t tell Sybok you met god.
“Vaal sleeps now.” Poor sleepy Vaal.
“Replacement” is a better word than children tbh.
“What is love?” Chekov just slides on in like HINT HINT.
McCoy lol. “No sex?? That’s not paradise to me!”
“It really does something for you.” / “Indeed it does. It makes me uncomfortable.”
Now everyone is laughing at him! A super bad day for Spock all around.
I do think he likes the decorations in the hut though.
McCoy is still wearing the flower decorations <3
The feeding of Vaal is so creepy. The machine needs to eat! At first I didn’t really get what they were feeding him, but my mom suggested it was the explosive rocks and I think that makes sense.
“Humans are only a tiny minority in the galaxy.”
The last time they thought they’d found aliens who were making no progress they’d actually found the Organians, who were BEYOND progress, so perhaps they should have learned by now not to be so hubristic in their judgements.
I like the philosophical argument and I like that they had it on prime time network tv.
I also think it’s interesting that Spock likes this kind of way.
Honestly, can you even imagine being a young Starfleet officer and you’re assigned to the Enterprise and KIRK is your Captain? And you end up on an away mission with him and he asks your opinion about the aliens? I think I’d find him intimidatingly cool. I’d probably have a big Captain Crush on him.
Kirk really walked his way into this awkward sex conversation though.
Hilarious how he asks Spock to explain sex lol--when he knows what sex convos with Spock are like. I mean that’s probably why he did it but still.
Spock probably WISHES he’d learned about sex from a machine. Rather than Sarek. Or Amanda.
His eyeshadow is a lot more subtle this season. (I know this is just the makeup team learning how to do makeup for tv but I’m going to assume it’s a choice.)
Chekov is so smooth lol.
PAV.
Can’t believe Chekov literally taught the aliens sex.
“Killing is a thing to do.” Well I mean... you’re not WRONG.
I think McCoy has a point that it is creepy and weird for a machine to control an apparently intelligent race so utterly that it can teach them how to kill without also teaching them what killing means, essentially turning them into mindless killing machines.
Like, Spock is up on his high horse about them becoming more human by learning how to kill and I guess technically that’s something they wouldn’t have learned but for the Enterprise interference but... it doesn’t come from them pulling away from the machine. It’s not that the machine spell is broken and the first thing they learn to do is kill. The machine taught them that FOR ITS OWN PURPOSES. Not even the murder is a choice.
“They exist to serve a machine.”
“They should have the opportunity of choice.”
I can’t believe Kirk can outright carry Spock. He’s gotta be heavy. (Also...injury 3?)
“Put them in the hut. They’re in time out.”
Poor Jim... feeling guilty again. "I had to follow orders...always orders." But he's a rebellious person who doesn't care about rules right???
Oh no, the aliens are escaping! “Get back in there. No. Back in there.” (That’s actual dialogue btw.)
I find it weird that they still have phaser power. Weren’t they diverting everything but life support?
Poor hungry Vaal.
Honestly, I do feel bad for them. This is a really sad situation in a lot of ways. Also, awkward. Like...not even going to explain kids to them? Just let them figure it out? That’s actually nighmarish in my opinion.
The ending is really awkward imo because the last bits of triumvirate dialogue usually do simplify the week’s adventure, which I get, but this one defies simplification, and so literally painting Spock as the villain for holding the opinion that didn’t win the day--especially when his metaphor is apt and Kirk IS the devil in it--seems very mean, not within the realm of casual friendly joking that they usually do.
Apparently Den of Geek compared this ep unfavorably to Return of the Archons, which I actually think is one of the weakest eps of S1 and not as good as The Apple. I think part of it is that the dialogue and adventure of The Apple is preferable to me, though I guess one could argue that Archons had a more evolved and interesting alien society, who were in a position to have opinions about their computer overlord. But it also had weird unexplained stuff like the purge or what-have-you, and my overall memory of the ep is that it didn’t really come together. One could argue The Apple doesn’t either, but in my opinion what it leaves open are more questions of world building than basic facts. Perhaps a splitting of hairs. Because the aliens in The Apple don’t (can’t) have opinions, I think the moral question is more complicated and defies a good solution.
Whether or not the Enterprise should have interfered with the Feeders of Vaal is a complicated question I think.
First of all, as it actually worked out, they had to in order to free themselves. But that makes me wonder...why were they there? Kirk is upset with himself in this ep for losing 3 officers and putting his ship in danger, more than interfering with the culture, but he IS upset with himself and I think it’s because his instincts were right, and he didn’t listen to them. The mission isn’t important. It isn’t worth everything that happened, to be honest.
So I’m uncertain about why Starfleet sent them on it. They’re not just there to look around an uninhabited planet or the uninhabited parts. They’re there to make contact with the people--which means they know there are people there! And like in one sense this isn’t weird, right, because the Enterprise’s mission is one of exploration--to make new friends for the Federation. But I feel like they should really only be seeking out relationships with aliens who are ready for them. You can’t beam down onto a planet of people who haven’t heard of space travel and NOT interfere with them. That’s interference! So you’d have to do some surveillance first. So either the Enterprise/Federation didn’t do that surveillance or they misjudged what they were seeing.
Of course, a society can not itself have space travel and still be open to alien visitors (like the Organians). So maybe they determined the Feeders of Vaal were in this category. And then I would think the role of the Federation vessel would be to determine if their society is the kind that the Federation could establish some kind of diplomatic relationship with. In my opinion, if it hadn’t been for the danger to the Enterprise, the correct thing for the Enterprise to do would be to leave the Feeders of Vaal and report back that they aren’t a suitable race for the Federation to ally with in any way, because their values aren’t the Federation’s values: they don’t think independently. I don’t think it’s the place of the Federation to MAKE their values match but I do think it’s fair to judge others by your core values, because they’re CORE values for a reason.
In other words, I do think it’s fair for McCoy to judge the Feeders of Vaal harshly and to think it’s wrong in some objective sense for intelligent humanoids to live with no history, no love, no families, no purpose, no creativity, no innovation, and no independent thoughts. I mean that’s pretty awful in a lot of ways!! Again, I think the ease with which Vaal turns them into weapons is very chilling. Because they lack so many basic concepts, they’re extremely malleable. That’s gross.
But Spock is right too... They do have a society that works. Their planet is beautiful, they have enough to eat and drink, they’re peaceful, and they seem happy, to the extent that they can be happy. They can’t die, they’re in good health, and they’re protected from all natural dangers.
Also, the Enterprise really doesn’t know what their society used to be or how they ended up with this version of a society. So when they kill Vaal and undo all of that, they don’t really know what they’re returning the people too. I think it’s irresponsible to just say ‘you’ll figure it out.’ And it is arrogant, to assume it just will work out, and what they’ll build now will be better than what they had with Vaal. The culture has been pretty clearly decimated by Vaal and so perhaps none of them can even recall what it used to be like. (I think this is an open question.. they don’t know “kill” or “sex” or “love” or “children” but they can refer to a “dark time” so....do they remember the details of the dark time??) But generally speaking, people tend to be experts in themselves. And so perhaps no one is an expert because the information is just lost, but certainly in no case are Kirk and McCoy experts.
In other words, someone built Vaal for a reason. He’s a machine so he didn’t just come to be. So the question is who built him and why? It’s possible that it wasn’t this society at all. I mean, there could have been another society who built Vaal and then died, and then these people took over. But I think the more likely explanation is that they built Vaal themselves, or, possibly, their parents built Vaal for them as children. Given that Vaal seems to have a lot of power over the physical planet--the killer plants, the lightning from the sky--that McCoy mentions that the computer protects them from the harmful rays of the sun, and that the people specifically praise Vaal as being the one who gives them food and “provides” for them, I think their paradise of a planet, without the computer, was probably very harsh. Kirk says it’s not so hard to gather fruit and Spock points out the good qualities of the soil but what if these things really do COME FROM Vaal and now, without the computer, they go away?
I’m not sure how the people came to be so dependent on Vaal or to have lost so much of whatever advanced culture they must have once had to create a computer like this (again, assuming it was them...). Maybe they had to spend so much time “feeding” Vaal that they forgot everything else. Maybe Vaal realized on its own that it couldn’t support a population any bigger than this and so forbid sex and reproduction. Maybe the turning point was in the attachment of the antennae, when the computer ceased to serve the people but to be served by them. But my point is that I think the computer was not created to for the purpose of people serving it, so much as it was created for some other unknown purpose and the society the Enterprise encountered was an accidental unintended long-term consequence of its actual purpose. And I don’t find this hard to believe, given both the sketchiness of AI (it does not think like humans!!!!!! very scary!) and the general inevitability of unintended consequences.
I think this ep is pretty relevant to today specifically because its unanswerable core question--how does a freedom-loving society react to a society that choose not to be free? can it respect another’s choice not to have choices anymore?--is similar to a common question floating about now: can a tolerant society tolerate intolerance itself? (The answer to that is no, and I feel like it might be no to the first question too, when phrased that way...and yet the interventionist attitude of the Enterprise makes a lot of people, including me, uncomfortable!!)
Not having context for why the society chose this or became this way really makes it much harder to judge Kirk’s actions imo. Like I was thinking about how powerful our machines are now. What if we somehow evolved to mindlessly serve them, and then thousands of years on, aliens came in a space ship and freed us? Would that be morally wrong of the aliens? I don't think so. I wouldn't want that for my future self. But from the aliens' perspective, we chose that life and so maybe it's wrong to free us. Like I think Spock's pov is basically dependent on this being chosen BY them. But eve if it was...how long ago was it chosen? If they themselves can no longer remember or in any way identify with or even explain the original choice, does it still hold?
I think there are some indicators that this society isn’t satisfied being the Feeders of Vaal. Vaal tries very hard to keep outsiders out (the flowers, the lightning, etc.). But the people are curious. They follow the newcomers and spy on them. They’re friendly and welcoming. They see Chekov make out with his girlfriend for about 10 seconds before they start wanting to do it, too. They seem to do literally nothing but feed Vaal and occasionally dance (?). But they were once smart enough to build this whole machine (I assume). Maybe they ARE bored in stagnation.
I wonder if Spock’s defensiveness of this society comes in part from being a Vulcan serving with humans. McCoy thinks it’s just inherently wrong for humans to give up their autonomy in service to a machine, and he doesn’t ever think about why they might have done that. But he ALSO thinks it’s wrong or at least weird for Spock to live his life ruled by logic rather than emotion, and he rarely thinks about WHY Vulcans do that: because without logic, they’d be so violent they’d risk destroying themselves. Maybe that puts Spock in a better position to think about their REASONS for Vaal: because they value peace and prosperity and health more than autonomy and creativity and innovation, perhaps, or because without Vaal they would not be able to survive any more than he believes Vulcan could have survived without the Reformation.
Anyway that’s a lot of thoughts! I think I got everything. I’m very tired now and must rest. I’m in service to my own Vaal tomorrow.
Next up is The Doomsday Machine, which I have seen, but don’t remember at all.

I have homework I need to finish before tonight, but I keep getting distracted by thinking about my date yesterday. So maybe writing it all out (again) will help my thought process. FYI, this will get detailed, so if you don’t want to know about my sex life, move on.
So, I’m sitting in the super cute, picturesque coffee shop after driving 45 minutes through a whiteout, sometimes only going 35 mph because of black ice and low visibility. The drive was fucking awful. By the time I get into town, I’m already an anxious wreck. My hands are shaking so hard that I have to hold my hot cider in both of them so I don’t spill it. (Cider was bomb af, btw.) He was very polite and had texted me that he was probably gonna be a half hour late because of the weather. So I waited nervously and he showed up precisely when he predicted he would.
I think he was nervous too. He immediately found me and sat down across from me. We made small talk. I was so out of it that I don’t even remember most of the conversation. I was wrapped up in taking notes about his hair, eyes, and the sound of his voice and why it seemed so damn familiar. I do know that one of the first things he did once small talk had concluded was showing me a bunch of pictures on his phone of the various animals he’s lived with while working farms in Washington State. It was very clear that he adores animals and is absolutely unashamed of expressing that fact. My heart lept a little when he said the word “doggo.” (Because I’m a cliche white girl. Sue me.) We also discussed his time being a firefighter in Yellowstone and what he did working intelligence for the Army in Afghanistan. I also pronounced my jealousy at how much he’s been able to travel and told him about becoming an ESL teacher, why I’m in Wyoming, etc.
After we finished our drinks, we discussed what we wanted to do in spite of the snow and decided on me showing him the rest of Cody and potentially heading into the North Fork to see the mountains and lake. We really didn’t make it that far. It was snowing too much to even see the mountains that were literally surrounding us. So we parked the car and left the heater running while we talked about music and tattoos. I gave him a brief rundown of what polyamory is and told him more about my boyfriend and how I’m going on an extended weekend date in NYC with two other people before moving onto his knowledge about BDSM, which was null. He actually went through all 400+ songs on my Spotify playlist to see what I like.
I’m sitting there thinking, “This is prime first kiss territory,” and trying to make it clear that I definitely would like that to happen. But he was just so soft and gentle. I legit wasn’t sure if he was actually going to make a move on me or not, even after he lightly started stroking my hair and softly giving me compliments. I moaned instinctively the first time he touched me and then blushed immediately after. I’m not as coy as I’d like to be, but I think it encouraged him quite a bit. He drug out those moments leading up to that first kiss. It was torture. Glorious, savory torture. Finally, he asked, “Does your lipstick smear?” I was on autopilot, immediately realizing what this question was getting at.
“It stays on pretty much the entire day,” I responded. I’m sure there was begging in my eyes.
“You wanna make sure?”
I pounced on him almost before he could finish his sentence. It was light and warm and soft. He smelled like the forest, musky and familiar. His fingers wove through my hair, his other hand held my cheek in that way I absolutely adore. I followed his lead, for the most part, not wanting to seem too eager despite having already shown my hand. His lips moved down to my bare shoulder (thank you, off-shoulder sweater), my collarbone, my earlobe. I was blissed out and digging my nails into his chest. He came back to kiss me and nibbled on my lip, his hand drifting down to wrap around my throat. I felt the primal tear out of me and bit him back, which made him moan. I kissed down his neck and did more than just nibble, but I was careful not to use full force. I could tell how much he loved it and he returned my bites in kind.
We made out for a long time. My playlist was going in the background. There was lots of snuggling when we came up for air. It felt like a dam had broken and we just wanted to have as much physical contact as possible, sexual or not. We ended up talking some more. He bashfully told me that he’s divorced. I told him I’m not surprised. Any military guy over the age of 25 has to be divorced. They won’t let you out until you get an ex-wife. I wanted to sit there and snuggle and make out, but I knew I didn’t want to sleep with him in the back of an SUV, so I suggested we go to the bookstore downtown. He had no qualms against that.
We held hands the whole way there and talked more while I drifted on autopilot again. We walked hand in hand down the icy sidewalk. He made sure to put himself between me in the road, which a very Southern Gentleman thing to do. He showed me a bunch of books he’s read once we walked in and I showed him some of my favorites. He was always touching me, holding me, with his arm around the small of my back while we looked through the books. I didn’t even think about the fact that we’d known each other for all of a few hours and were already engaging in PDA. It was comfortable and safe. We lingered in the bookstore longer than was appropriate for two people who had no intention of buying anything.
The Thai place we ate at was just down the next block, coincidentally next door to the coffee shop. His eye had lit up in the bookstore when I mentioned wanting proper spring rolls, so that was the first thing we ordered. We shared pad thai and drunken noodles. We talked about sociopaths and Trailer Park Congress, a game he had played with his Army buddies while deployed where you take a stance that is wildly one-sided (like, “All abortion is mandatory”) and have to defend it. Once our plates were gone, he held my hands in his across the table and finished my glass of water for me once his was empty. Again, I didn’t even notice the quick sense of familiarity we had with each other. We lingered longer than we should have and neither of us cared.
The only place in Cody he hadn’t seen yet was The Hill that housed Albertson’s, Starbucks, and McDonalds along with a few strip malls. I never go to this part of town, so we ended up driving aimlessly for a while down the highway before turning back and discovering Beck lake, which apparently has walking paths and a dog park. We parked the car again on the road overlooking the lake. The view was shades of grey and white as the snow continued to fall. There was definitely some intention of getting out of the car and walking for a bit, but it was a long time before we made it that far. More kisses and nibbles ensued with his hand wrapped around my throat. He showered me with compliments as he petted my hair and made me moan. It was clear that we both wanted to completely let go on each other, but between the cold and the lack of a proper space, we knew it wouldn’t happen.
We caught our breath and removed ourselves from the vehicle only to end up holding each other in the cold. We kissed and his hand slid down to my left thigh before hitching it up to his waist. I dug my nails into his jacket as he dipped me backward, telling me to trust him. I squealed and totally lost my shit over the fear that he was gonna drop me. I’m not used to guys looking at my 230lbs and not thinking twice about it. He reassured me I would be fine before kissing me.
We made the short walk down to the lake. He’s excellent at skipping rocks, but it took less than 5 minutes for the wind to pick up and freeze our Southern asses to the bone. It was a prompt retreat back to the shelter of his car.
After more making out that lead to my direct involvement in him getting to 2nd base, we finally had to say good night. It was getting dark and he had a long drive back home through the snow. We discussed meeting up again, preferably somewhere with heat and a bed, and he mentioned getting a hotel room. I hesitated, not sure if I wanted to spend the night with him or not and told him why. He didn’t push. He never pushed for anything from me. But he did tell me he was going to see me next weekend.
It took forever for me to extract myself from his car, but I finally did and made my way home.

The Best Moisturizers To Take Into Fall
New Post has been published on http://skincareee.com/the-best-moisturizers-to-take-into-fall/
The Best Moisturizers To Take Into Fall
October is undisputably the best month of the year. It’s got everything: the best weather for getting dressed in (layers!), spookiness (boo!), Scorpios (sexy!), and Hygge (basic!). Everything, except for one thing: satisfied skin. This is the point in the season when my skin starts to shrivel up in patches. No matter how much hyaluronic acid I press into my face each morning, I am a flaky, waxy piece of sandpaper dusted with Chanel Les Beiges bronzer and sealed with lip balm. (That is a great bronzer, btw.) Empty tubes of Yu-Be Moisturizing Cream litter my bathroom floor, but I’m overcompensating; the result is a heavy sheen I can’t manage. My hair sticks to my face. My pores feel clogged—but for some reason, not hydrated.
What’s happening to my skin isn’t actually due to dryness. Rather, it’s the fact that the temperature is dropping, even if the humidity hasn’t (yet). Right now, it’s windy one day and rainy the next. All which leaves me looking for a moisturizer that doesn’t feel thick, sticky or greasy, but keeps my skin in a balanced place through the season’s ups and downs. Day creams, water creams, serums… Everything that might fit the bar comes home from the office with me. Here are my favorites right now:
Apparently a big hit in London at the moment, this is the British answer to what my mom claims is my British problem. I.e. the dryness-prone English-heritage genetics I was born with. While I typically go for simpler-looking products, I love this moisturizer. Both a cream and an energizing serum, the two parts are separately contained until you massage them together into your skin. Under-eye circles and puffiness are reduced. Skin feels fresh. The finish is nice and matte. Moisturized.
Not just for the name do I like this guy. For one thing, it comes in a pot with a convenient, air-tight pump. No scooping or fumbling with the lid. For another, it’s a fragrance-free cream you can use both day and night that eliminates dry patches and redness. But it’s never heavy. As it suggests, Lala Retro is modeled after your grandmother’s “retro-style” creams—minus the decades of less ingredients and marketing. I’d say it’s a comfort to use.
For years now this cream has stayed consistently in my everyday routine. With a fluffy texture that helps prime skin for makeup, it’s especially great during the deeper winter months. When I’m flying it’s my go-to because it’s small enough for TSA, air-locked, and keeps my skin from reacting across climate changes. If my mood is leaning toward a cheaper, slightly stickier (but still French) version, Embryolisse does the trick.
As classic as ever, Kiehl’s Crème de Corps tops my list of favorite body moisturizers. But my skin never got along with the facial ones. Despite endless recs I’ve had to, sadly, stay away from the Ultra Facial Moisturizer and its overnight counterpart. But this! The Skin Rescuer is, dare I say? ..the best lightweight texture compared to any day cream I’ve used. On top of that, it’s visibly soothing, healing, and plumping. It’s not irritating in the least, nor does it feel like an added layer on the skin.
Another serum-like cream. Probably why my skin absorbs it so quickly. Thanks to hyaluronic acid, B vitamins and fatty acids, it’s super hydrating—but again, in the way a serum might be, not like a wax-loaded moisturizer. It’s also packed with antioxidants and botanical extracts to help protect the skin from pollution, sun, the howling wind… The usual suspects.
Back in June I adopted this cream into my life. It’s been with me ever since. The lightweight, watery texture gives it the appearance of a lightweight moisturizer; surprise, it’s not! In terms of hydration, it’s pretty sufficient year-round, morning or night. Admittedly, if I had to choose—and given the price point, I do—the Black Rose Mask would win over the moisturizer. But both are good. Both are great.
Oh, Tata. Always the loveliest products. Those pretty green bottles, as Natasha Lyonne puts it, “They class up the joint, which I like. I like a good-looking bottle.” Bottle aside, this moisturizer in particular is good for this time of year due to its suuuuper silky soft, light texture that targets the driest skin. Even if you’re not a dry skin type, use it for some extra moisture through the holidays. Smells terrific too. Very citrus-y. Not to mention all-natural!
Were you aware you can buy Vichy at Target? I wasn’t. Not until recently, the discovery of which led me to this cream. It’s not a water cream, nor is it intended as a day cream, necessarily. But it’s a comprehensively nice moisturizer that’s not tacky or itchy, goes under makeup pretty well, and delivers hydration for hours on end. Well worth the $24.50.
Despite the fragrance in this cream, it’s a really nice moisturizer. While working on fine lines, it allegedly protects skin from (wait for it) toxins. And it really makes your face feel like a SOFT BABY’S. So soft. Clarins also makes different versions for each skin type. Pick yours, smooth it on, and go carve a pumpkin.

Moisturize, yes—but how can you also stay matte? Read here.
