"This is a very unfair situation. I do not agree with how this is being handled. These are people who you are leaving alone in a landfill. These are human beings. How can you even fathom the idea to leave them there? These women are deserving of a proper resting place, not to be left alone in a landfill in the dead of winter.
If you want to respect and honor them, stop making excuses as to why you can't find them. You CAN and you are just REFUSING to. You are the police. You are here to help our community and give right to the citizens. How is this doing your job? If you can't find them then why haven't you asked for help? Why can't you ask for help nationwide rather than just having a small amount of people conduct the searches?
All of your reasons are just meaningless EXCUSES in this important case.
These are FOUR WOMEN, one you have found but now you refuse to find the last three. What is the reasoning for that?
We have the people who are willing to help and do the work for you but YOU ARE NOT ACCEPTING IT. What is the thought process behind this? This is ridiculous and you can't keep withholding this search.
AND IF YOU WON'T LOOK FOR THEM, THEN WE WILL."

Joint CUPE Statement on searching the Brady Road and Prairie Green landfill sites
On July 13, CUPE 500, representing municipal staff at the Brady Road Resource Management Facility, including the landfill and 4R Winnipeg Depot, provided a letter of support to the organizers and families who are calling for a search for MMIWG2S at the site. In our July 13 message we expressed that we are deeply concerned with the City and Province’s inability to provide support and closure for families of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQI* members of the community. CUPE believes that the Brady site should be thoroughly searched, and we are willing to work with the City and other authorities to provide support and expertise to any organization conducting a search. We have been and are willing to work with the City on any use or redeployment of current staff at the Brady site for the duration of any search. Any search conducted at the Brady site should be conducted by professionals in the field of searching for missing persons, and searchers must be provided appropriate PPE and training, as outlined in the feasibility study. Premier Stefanson’s remarks that safety concerns prohibit a search are false: there is no reason this cannot be done. CUPE supports the right for demonstrators to peacefully protest at the site, and we urge the City to ensure that no CUPE member is asked to intervene in any demonstrations. CUPE 500 is committed to work with the City to develop a plan to ensure future use of the Brady site accommodates any searches, should they be necessary. This includes greater public control and oversight over how solid waste is collected and deposited (currently garbage collection in Winnipeg is done by private companies), a grid system for deposits, better monitoring of the fleet, and the development of an action plan for the future. CUPE believes that action is more important than words, and we expect to be at the table where we can offer our expertise at the site, as well as contribute to future plans to ensure searches can be done expediently. We thank the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs and the families of MMIWG2S for receiving our correspondence and acknowledging our support at the July 17 press conference that highlighted the feasibility of the search. As Canada’s largest union, representing over 715,000 workers across the country including more than 37,000 throughout Manitoba, CUPE stands with the AMC and families of MMIWG2S and supports calls to have the Prairie Green Landfill and the Brady site searched immediately. La Vie Hotels & Resorts grows its presence in Victoria with multi-partnership deal with Amber Property Group
La Vie Hotels & Resorts, one of Asia Pacific’s leading and fastest growing independent hotel management companies, announced a multi-partnership deal with Amber Property Group, to manage its Melbourne hotels. The Sebel Melbourne Ringwood, which is under franchise agreement with Accor, will now be managed by La Vie Hotels & Resorts and Amber Property Group’s soon to be unveiled The Motley Hotel in Richmond, which promises to be one of Melbourne’s most exciting lifestyle hotels, will also fall under La Vie’s management. This multi-partnership signing by Amber Property Group signals the group’s confidence in La Vie’s operating model and knowledge of the Melbourne market, particularly in city fringe locations. Craig Bond, Managing Director of La Vie Hotels & Resorts, said “We are humbled and incredibly excited to be working with the team at Amber Property Group to manage their beautifully designed Melbourne hotels in Richmond and Ringwood, two of the city’s busiest suburban hubs.  “From its terrace façades and rich sporting culture to the amalgamation of industry and the arts, Richmond has been crying out for a lifestyle hotel that the locals can claim as their own, and The Motley will not disappoint. “The hotel will be an eclectic mix of old and new, and talk to the rich history and character of Richmond. It will also have a buzzing restaurant championing local produce, a rooftop bar with picturesque views; we can’t wait for the doors to open. “On the other side of town, The Sebel Ringwood is a stunning property, with high end finishings and extensive facilities that business and leisure travellers have embraced.  “It is clear Amber Property Group has their finger on the pulse when it comes to designing hotels that resonate with all types of travellers and we’re looking forward to working with the team”.  Commenting on the new partnership, Rachael Brady, CEO of Amber Property Group, said “We are looking forward to forging a new partnership with La Vie Hotels & Resorts and having them manage two of our key Melbourne assets.  “The Sebel Ringwood Melbourne is a very special property and is much loved by regular travellers to the east for work, while The Motley Hotel will provide a true lifestyle hotel experience in the heart of Richmond. We are excited to see these hotels flourish under La Vie’s guidance.” The soon to be unveiled Motley Hotel is set to be one of the most exciting hotel openings in Melbourne this year. This 80-room lifestyle hotel has been under construction and largely under wraps but now, with the change in branding direction and with a brand new name, the countdown to opening has begun. Ideally located on Bridge Road, close to shopping boutiques, the MCG and Rod Laver Arena, with Melbourne CBD only a short distance away, the hotel promises to be a popular choice for leisure travellers when it opens in early January 2023. Hurricane Ian: Buccaneers moving practice to Miami; NFL monitoring Week 4 game vs. Chiefs in Tampa Bay
Tumblr media
National Hurricane Center A matchup between two contenders who recently met in the Super Bowl is scheduled to take place Sunday night, as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to visit Tampa to face Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. However, Hurricane Ian has changed how the teams are preparing for the important showdown, and may even reschedule the game altogether. Hours after the National Hurricane Center upgraded Ian to a Category 2 storm on Monday, the Buccaneers finalized plans to evacuate Tampa on Tuesday and spend the rest of the week practicing at the Dolphins' training facility in Miami, according to CBS Sports Lead NFL Insider Jonathan Jones. Since the Dolphins play the Bengals on the road this Thursday, their stadium and fields were available for use. In the meantime, the NFL is continuing to monitor storm developments to determine whether the Buccaneers' Sunday night matchup with the Chiefs can proceed as scheduled in Tampa. According to the Tampa Bay Times, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles previously said Monday that the team is working with the NFL to make contingency plans in case they are forced to move Sunday's game. "Right now, we're still monitoring things but we're working things out with the league and we should have a decision hopefully later on today about what we're going to do," Bowles said, via Rick Stroud. Hurricane Ian is quickly approaching Cuba, and is expected to rapidly strengthen into a major hurricane as it moves into the eastern part of the Gulf of Mexico, per The Weather Channel. As of now, the projections show the hurricane making its largest impact/landfall in Tampa on Wednesday through Thursday. Read the full article

North End turn up the heat
Wednesday March 16th almost felt a lifetime away as North End banished the memory of that horror show, back in the early Spring, with an outstanding 1-0 victory at Kenilworth Road. A match that was played in sweltering heat, with pitchside temperatures around 33C at kick off, saw a goal of the season contender from Brad Potts seal the victory and bring the three points back up to Gods country. North End were real value for this victory as they hustled and harried in midfield with no sign of being over-run in that area of the field as we were five months ago. North End were bright early on and when Potts scored we controlled the game for the most part in the first half. After the break the tempo, understandably, slowed down a little but North End were still looking confident and managed the game out superbly despite a late rally from the host, who by this time were more than a little frustrated.
Ryan Lowe made two changes from the side that drew with Hull last Saturday with Ali McCann and Ryan Ledson coming in for Daniel Johnson and Emil Riis. Luton looked pumped up and ready for the game after their deafeat in the Carabao Cup to Newport County in the week. They tried to take it to North End from the first whistle but Ryan Lowe`s boys were ready and with four central midfield players in the side there was no chance of the home side dominating. Two half chances came and went for the hosts but just before the twenty minute mark the classy Robbie Brady curled in a ball from the left and the last man at the back post, Brad Potts, fired a superb acrobatic volley into the Luton net to ignite scenes of absolute delight in the Foghorn Leghorn Chicken Coop masquerading as the away end. Boy, I say Boy, its the worst away facility in the Championship and by some distance. At the other end North End were dealing, comfortably with what the home side through at them with Brady having the last effort of the half well saved by the Luton keeper.
No changes for North End at the interval as we started the second half kicking towards the Preston faithful. Once again we were looking comfortable on the ball and the first effort of the half saw a Storey shot fly over the bar. The heat was intense and the pace of the game slowed down as it had to with water breaks being taken in the middle of both halves helping to keep the players hydrated. Just after the hour mark Andrew Hughes had a header blocked in what would have been the match winner. As the game wore on the Hatters were getting a little more desperate in their play as North End started introducing the subs to try and shut the hosts out. Luton did have a couple of chances late on but Woodrow and Adebayo just snatched a little at their efforts. In spite of Mr Whitestone playing seven and a half minutes of additional time North End saw it out fairly well to secure a first league victory on the road this season.
I guess this victory makes up for the draw at home to Hull last week and with three clean sheets in the first three league games Ryan Lowe and his staff can be quietly pleased with the start to the season. This was a tough gig on paper and with the tactic of packing the midfield ultimately paying off, this was without doubt a job well done. North End almost played a 3-4-2-1 formation with McCann and Browne supporting Parrott when they could but still very much aware of their defensive duties. I though the Spurs loanee put in a monster shift for North End but it was Brad Potts who wins the man of the match this week with a wonder strike at one end and superb defensive work on the North End right flank at the other end. The togetherness of the fans, players and staff was there for all to see after the final whistle and long may it continue as the Lowecomotion express starts moving through the gears

Pedestrian infrastructure in Atlanta is too often dependent upon development. On 9th Street near Howell Mill Rd, sidewalks are wide and invitingly shady in front of The Brady, luxury apartments built 5 years ago.
But directly across the street (second photo), in front of a postal service facility, the narrower sidewalk has no trees – though it does have weeds and sticks and cracks.
The construction of The Brady is what generated a little strip of good pedestrian infrastructure. We demand nice sidewalks of the developer. The problem is that, where nothing is being built, sidewalks are too often in bad shape (if they exist).
Imagine if we only maintained asphalt on roadways in front of new developments -- while leaving road lanes in front of older structures to rot. We don’t do that, of course, because we consider car lanes to be a high priority, therefore we consistently find public money to pave them.
Council member Amir Farokhi presented legislation for changing how Atlanta does sidewalks a while ago, putting the onus on the City to maintain them instead of on property owners. The sticking point has been costs. We have to identify money for doing that work on the public dime.
Meanwhile, we seem to be doing OK these days with locating money for resurfacing streets intown. Changing priorities is going to take a lot of work, and buy-in from everyone.

The State League guys, such as Dylan Riley and Callum Harrison as well as the Tamar Cats guys are certainly a positive influence on the group and have joined the group really well. History of the Ironwood Forest National Monument
Do you remember former President Bill Clinton? He created the Ironwood Forest National Monument approximately 22 years ago in 2000. The name, Ironwood, is named after one of the world’s oldest and longest-living trees in the desert. You will find this monument located in the Sonoran Desert in Tucson, Arizona. If you are familiar with the Saguaro National Park, this monument is west of that park and pretty close in distance.
This Ironwood Forest National Monument sits on 129,000 acres of land. Before this monument became what it is today, it has a history dating back to the year 1700. It was reported that before this became the Ironwood Forest National Monument, there were villages and campsites. The people that lived there were hunters and gatherers. A hundred years later in the year 1800, there have been reports of cemeteries and camps but none that we saw near our boondocking site.
There are also artifacts distributed throughout the land across 3,000 sites The history behind the land is what makes up the Ironwood Forest National Monument today.
Things to Do and Places to See
Out of all the historical monuments, the Ironwood Forest National Monument is a place with some great activities for families with kids. You will have to spend the night on the monument in one of the campgrounds to do everything in one visit or in one of our many boondocking spots nearby. You can camp, hike, and even go horseback riding. You can also partake in mountain biking, bird watching, and plant and flower viewing in the Ironwood Forest National Monument . There are several other activities to take advantage of such as sightseeing.
All of these activities may seem overwhelming to you and you may be thinking about how you’re going to do everything. Take one thing at a time. If you’re bringing along children on this vacation, do the things you know they will enjoy.
Horseback Riding
Older children will love going horseback riding with you. There are a few stables very close to Ironwood Forest National Monument. From the nearest stable, you can take the horse through the monument and ride off into some spectacular views. This would be a picture-worthy moment and you will have memories that will last a lifetime. When you’re done, you bring the horse to the stable and make your way back to the monument for the next activity.
Hunt for Fossils
Younger children will love looking for fossils and archaeological sites. They think of it as a scavenger hunt. As previously mentioned, there are around 3,000 sites. Children will be occupied for hours. You can not to take anything from the sites so, if you dig up anything, take your photos, and cover it back up.
Wildlife Viewing and Photography
Another activity that’s fun for all ages is enjoying nature and wildlife. You and your family will be able to see animals up close. There are several animals to see such as mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. It’s best to look at the animals from a distance and never let a child wander away to explore on their own. If you are with a large group, implement the buddy system so you don’t have to be alone.
The Top 4 Trails to Hike at Ironwood Forest National Monument
Hiking will give you great exercise and you can see things you haven’t seen yet while on the trail. There are four trails to hike at Ironwood Forest National Monument. Leave the children at the hotel with another adult for these trails. These aren’t easy and a couple of them are best suited for avid hikers. Be sure to clear your afternoon or morning schedule before starting on a hike.
1. Ragged Top North Gully Trail
The first trail at the Ironwood Forest National Monument  to mention is the Ragged Top North Gully Trail. This trail is a four-mile hike, and it may take you over two hours to complete it. Depending on how much of an experienced hiker you are, it could take you approximately to make your way up the trail. It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes, long sleeves, pants, and gloves. No flip flops, sandals, shorts, or tank tops. As you begin the hike, you may think it’s pretty easy.
After the first mile, it gets harder. Be sure to have enough adults in your group for this trip. You will need one adult at the hotel watching the children and one or more adults with you on this trail. The trail can be easy to follow but be sure to pay attention. Don’t be afraid to get dirty. You will be struggling walking over loose rocks in the dirt and rocks. As you walk, you will be moving bushes and cactus out of the way.
That is why you will have to wear gloves, pants, and long sleeves. You don’t want to end up being scratched up trying to get up the trail. It’s best to take breaks during this hike. Stay hydrated with water and keep your energy up with food. Food and water are essential to bringing with you on this hike. Once you reach the top, the hike will be worth it. The second trail is Waterman Peak Trail, and it’s not as hard as the first trail. Even though this hike is a little over a mile long, it can still take you almost an hour to complete. That’s if you don’t stop for food, water, or to look at anything along the way. It’s good to bring poles with you on this hike because it will help you make it through the rocks and dirt. 3. Ragged Top Roof Trail
The next trail is the Ragged Top Roof Trail. It’s almost 5 miles long, and it could take you anywhere from 3 to 6 hours to complete. Maybe more depending on how long your breaks are. This trail has beautiful scenery that will catch your eye as you move closer and closer up the trail. The walk starts off easy and you’ll see an occasional campsite, but then it gets harder. The trail will start to disappear a little ways towards the top. It can be confusing for a newcomer that’s never been on this trail before. It’s best to have someone to go with, so the two of you can look out for mile markers or anything that will tell you how to get to the top.

The last trail to tell you about is the Waterman Mountains Trail to Silver Hill Mine is one of our favorites in the Ironwood Forest National Monument . This trail is not as hard as the other trails, but it does have its moments. It’s a two-mile-long hike, and it can take you just over an hour to complete it if you don’t stop for breaks. You will be starting on a road that cars used to travel on but not anymore. If you’re not on a road, then you’re off the trail and will have to find your way back on. You will find some loose rock and some steep hills along the way. It’s best if you pay attention and don’t get distracted, so you don’t slip and fall down the trail.
