Heather Stefanson, the leader of Manitoba’s PCs, has launched a new ad campaign promoting her opposition to searching a landfill for the remains of two Indigenous women believed to have been murdered by an alleged serial killer.
On Saturday, the Manitoba PCs took out a full page ad in the Winnipeg Free Press as well as site-wide banner ads on the province’s biggest newspaper’s website featuring a sensational and highly unusual campaign message from the incumbent premier, who is currently trailing by a wide margin in the latest opinion polls.
“Stand firm,” reads both the print and digital versions of Stefanson’s ad. “For health and safety reasons, the answer on the landfill dig just has to be no.”

Suprised that pple are suprised over Mark Hamill supporting Israel when a few years back, he actually gaslit a couple of Native Americans who called him out over Twitter for dismissing anti Native racism (one of them being @alinahdee). If that was how he, a "liberal" wealthy White American actor, treated Native Americans who called him out, is it really that suprising that he supports Israel (a settler colony that displaced and oppressed the native Palestineans, similar to America)?
He's not some fuddy duddy space grandpa, he never was.

The network that runs Yellowstone and it's spinoffs thought it was appropriate to cheer on Robert De Niro's character in Killers of the Flower Moon as he killed off Native characters who are based on actual murdered Native people.
Lily Gladstone, who plays the lead actress in the film, was NOT amused by this.

slash and burn agriculture was practiced by indigenous people throughout the world in pre-industrial society - should we adopt that method just because the civilizations that use it have lasted until modern times? Or should we look to a different method used by another civilization whose primary method of population control was starvation?
Ecology is a scientific field that was developed in the 20th century, as you would know if you did any reading on the topic. Not sure who is fooling you into thinking otherwise, but traditional native practices that may not even be that many generations old and only are recorded in oral tradition should not be compared or given equal time with actual scientific investigation. If you're opposed to science and scientific investigation and instead prefer to listen to fairy tales just because the people who tell them have a different skin color than you, you should probably not be involved in communicating information about plants to others. Also i don't think you're necessarily racist, but I wonder who you've been listening to if you're using words like "colonizer" unironically.

Alternatives to the racist "two wolves" meme
For anyone who hasn't heard it, the "there are two wolves inside of you" meme isn't actually any kind of Native wisdom. This meme can be traced back to Billy Graham, and seems to be riffing off the Christian shoulder angel/demon meme.
You can literally just use the angel/demon meme; EG, "my guardian angel wants me to X, but my tempting demon says I should Y."
Are angels and demons are too Christian for you? Then replace "angel" and "demon" with whatever embodies some form of duality to you. Make it a frog and a toad, a werewolf and a vampire, your inner Mario and your inner Bowser, whatever. Go wild, knock yourself out.

The whole Ian Ousley being pretendian is frustrating but not surprising given how it had happened to another Netflix produced show, On My Block, previously. OMB had initially casted Ronni Hawk, a White actress who claimed that she was Latina and whose family were Trump supporters (fucking irony), to play a Latina character in their first season before writing her off the show come the second season.
So yeah, I do believe that if Avatar gets renewed for a season 2, they'd recast Sokka so long as there's a huge outcry from the fanbase and on social media.

A reactionary speech that exhorted a return to “biblical truths” is coming under fire after the keynote speaker at an annual prayer breakfast used anti-LGBTQ2 tropes and denied that horrors of more than a century of Indian Residential Schools even existed.
Thursday morning at the Westin Calgary, Nigel Hannaford took the lectern at the Calgary Leadership Prayer Breakfast to decry an apparent move away from Christian values in the country.
“Christians in Canada, we’ve had it pretty easy for a couple of hundred years. Christian belief and Canadian law lined up quite well most of the time,” Hannaford said.

Nex Benedict — a nonbinary, Native American, 16-year-old sophomore — was reportedly beaten to denath on February 7 by three older female students in the bathroom of Owasso High School in Oklahoma. The school refused to call an ambulance for the injured teen and didn’t inform police of the attack until Benedict was later admitted into the hospital — they died from their injuries the next day.

Not even gonna respond directly to that antitheist that RBed one of my posts (because I know they just want attention) but I find it very telling that they put "Jews are committing actual genocide against Palestinians but sure, some edgy antitheists online trying to get a rise out of people are the REAL problem lmao" on a post I made about a white antitheist calling for cultural genocide because "some cultures are inherently evil" after a Black trans Muslim told them First Nations beliefs have been persecuted at the hands of settlers.
On top of the blood libel on a post that did not mention Jews nor Palestinians anywhere, they completely glossed over the anti-Indigenous racism I was highlighting from an antitheist.
VERY telling they decided to come onto an Indigenous person's post about anti-Indigenous racism & make it about "Teh Evil J00z Are Murderers".
