Le Fleuriste Episode II:
WARNING: MENTIONS OF SEX
Word Count: 3,261
Summary: Lucas yearns to talk to Eliott. But who is he? Will he meet Lucas’ expectations? Or break his heart on the spot?
[A/N] Hello!! Welcome to chapter 2 of Le Fleuriste!! We are excited for you to read this, and please check out chapter one in our masterlist in our bio.
———————————————————————
Lucas lied in bed that night scouring Instagram for this boy he met. Eliott is all he could think about. He thought about the veins that were visible on his hands and the way that they snaked and traveled along his arms. He contemplated what Pantone color would match his crisp blue eyes. He couldn’t get over the way Eliott’s once white apron was stained with dirt and mud from taking care of the flowers in the shop and how his hair was the perfect tousled mess that rested on top of his head. Could he be in love with this boy?
Lucas kept typing Eliott’s name into the search bar in different ways. Elliot? Nothing. Elliott? Nothing. Eliot? Once again, nothing. How many ways could he spell this boy's name and not get a single matching result?
Lucas threw his phone on the sofa cushion next to him. Lucas stood up from the pull out sofa and walked to the balcony wearing nothing but some boxer shorts and a baggy t-shirt. The entrance leading to the balcony sat in front of Lucas’ bed, also known as the couch. Lucas spent his restless nights staring out beyond the balcony staring at Annecy’s skyline.
Annecy is known for being “the Venice of the Alps”. Annecy is surrounded by mountains that are, for most of the year, dusted with snow on their peaks. Lucas loved the colorful buildings of pinks and yellows, as well as the canals and waterways that run through the town. Bridges connected streets together as if they were holding hands. Lucas especially adored Annecy during this time of year because of the greenery. Barrels full of flowers lined the street would bloom and flower, and the bees adored the new floral-filled environment just as much as Lucas did. It was always the fresh start that Lucas needed every coming year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucas stood out on the balcony, it was late, 23:37. The boys were already in bed, sleeping off the Sunday blues. Lucas knew he wouldn’t sleep tonight, not with this boy racing through his mind.
Lucas looked at the streets below him. He could see some stray people walking about, mostly on their phones. He could hear quiet Italian music playing softly from the Italian restaurant down the street. Even though it was early spring, it was quite warm. The breeze brushed Lucas’ face and hair.
If only Eliott were here.
Why was Lucas thinking that? He doesn’t even know if this boy is gay, or any sexuality that involved loving someone like Lucas. Eliott was probably some straight guy who played with feelings of women, or possibly men too, Lucas already knew Eliott was toying with his feelings.
Lucas had never had a boyfriend. He did have one or two girlfriends in high school, but they felt neglected, especially since Lucas never felt the same way about them. Chloe was the last girl he was with, and the one who made him realize he was in fact gay.
He remembered when he first realized it, it sickened him. It happened during one of Emma’s “my mom is out on business so let’s have party” bashes. Lucas and Chloe had snuck off into one of the bedrooms and despite all the alcohol Lucas had drunk, he felt sober at this moment.
Lucas thought nothing of it, maybe it’ll make the sex more enjoyable. Chloe had started taking off her clothes and soon was completely bare. She walked over to Lucas and started kissing and biting his neck, then kneeled before him and started unbuttoning his jeans.
“Lucas, you’re not hard. Am I doing something wrong?” Chloe asked, gazing up at him.
“No, no, I…” Lucas started. “I think I’m gay.”
Chloe was angry at first, she thought he had been using and experimenting with her, but that wasn’t the case. He just didn’t know what he wanted, and he had finally figured it out. They did makeup in the end, but Lucas knew he had put Chloe through hell and back.
Lucas took a deep breath, smelling the fresh bellflower scents that came from the mountainside. It was calming, and he needed to calm down. Lucas soon returned to the pullout bed, and after hours of lying awake, he drifted off to sleep.
———————————————————————
“Arthur! You’re using all of the eggs! If you’re gonna take them all, at least make me some.” Basile screamed at Arthur as he took away the egg carton.
“Basile, hush. Lucas and the whole world is sleeping, and I know no one who wants to be greeted by your horrid voice this early in the morning,” Arthur whispered, taking the eggs back. “And I’m already making you eggs, idiot.”
“I bet Daphne would love to wake up to my so-called ‘horrid’ voice. She’s in love with me and I’m in love with her, we are in love Arthur,” Basile swooned. Arthur rolled his eyes.
“God, you guys are so loud,” Lucas mumbled, covering his ears with his pillow.
“I’m sorry, Lu, but Arthur here won’t shut up! I’ve been telling him that people are sleeping and he just won’t listen.” Basile persisted.
“Basile, I swear…” Arthur muttered under his breath.
Basile walked over to the pullout and sat next to Lucas, who was turned over onto his stomach with the pillow still covering his ears.
“Come on, Lucas. Have breakfast with us.” Basile said while shaking Lucas awake.
“I might as well, I’m sure as hell awake now.”
“Arthur! Do you hear that? Our boy Lucas is gonna have breakfast with his two best mates before they go off to work!” Basile shouted, jumping up and dragging Lucas to the table.
“Three best mates,” Yann corrected as he came out of his room. “Do you have any idea how loud you’re being, mate?”
“My sincerest apologies, I’m just so excited!” Basile danced over to the table while Lucas and Yann trailed behind him sluggishly.
Arthur brought over the feast that was considered breakfast. It consisted of all of the favorites, sausage, pancakes with maple syrup, bacon, and eggs served in many ways, each to the boys’ liking. This feast was a once a week type thing, usually, Arthur would prepare it with Basile occasionally helping on the side, although he didn’t provide much help at all. Arthur would give Basile little tasks to occupy him such as setting and placing the food on the table. It was one day a week where the gang would catch up with another and talk about their events that happened during the week. Lucas was fond of it because he didn’t get out very much, he didn’t really have a lot of spending money to go out and do things, but that might change in the coming weeks with this new boy who has caught his eye.
“Lucas, are these flowers...yours?” Yann questioned as he grabbed the glass filled with water that contained the bunches of blooms that Eliott had given him.
“Uh, yeah.”
“Who’s the lucky lad?” Arthur asked, chewing on a sausage link.
“Oh, I don’t really know him besides his name. He gave it to my mom and me when we visited the flower shop and I bought her a bouquet.”
“So you received two bouquets?” Basile chimed in.
“Yeah.”
“Well, Lucas, I don’t know about you but that sounds like flirting to me!” Basile laughed.
“Maybe.”
“Is he hot?” Yann asked, cutting up his pancake into smaller bite-sized pieces.
“Well, I would show you a picture, but I can’t find any of his social media,” Lucas sighed. “I’ve looked everywhere!” Lucas rested his head in his hand and played with his food with the end of his fork.
“Well, what’s his name?” Arthur inquired. “This is at Barney’s, yes?”
“Yeah, his name is Eliott.”
“Well, I don’t know anyone who works at Barney’s named Eliott. Are you sure it wasn’t Idriss? He’s been working there since Barney before Barney passed away.” Yann mentioned.
“No, it wasn’t him.”
“This Eliott guy must be new to the shop, maybe you could ask the girls who he is?” Basile suggested.
“Yeah, you know what I think I will,” Lucas smiled to himself in anticipation of his new plans.
“Our Lucas is gonna get a boyfriend!” Yann yelled and patted Lucas on the back.
“Okay, okay, let’s not get carried away.”
———————————————————————
Lucas stepped onto the cobblestone street of King’s Grove. It wasn’t busy today, only a few people milled in the streets. It was Monday after all. Lucas wished more people could enjoy a day like today. Birds were singing in choirs, the sun illuminated everything beneath it, and the sky was bright blue.
Like Eliott’s eyes.
Lucas thought about going to Barney’s first, but he knew he would only embarrass himself, and he couldn’t even ponder how awkward it would be asking for Eliott’s number.
In addition to never having a boyfriend, Lucas had never flirted with a guy either. He remembers the blush that flooded his cheeks after leaving Barney’s with two bouquets in hand. How could he prevent that from happening? Was Lucas even capable of acting cool and casual? He figured he better stick to the people he knew, the girls.
The first stop was The Disco Danish Cafe, only because they were opened first. They always opened at 6 AM bright and early to serve their famous breakfast danishes.
“Lucas! Back again!” Alexia called out as she wiped down the counter.
“No way! You’re here two days in a row?” Manon asked as she came out of the double doors that led to the kitchen.
“I know, I get it, I don’t see you guys enough,” Lucas laughed and rolled his eyes.
“What’s up? Do you want a danish, it’s on the house,” Alexia gestured to the many different flavors of danishes lined up like soldiers in the display case before her.
“Well, I just ate.”
“Too bad! I’m giving you one anyway,” Alexia selected a cheese danish from the display case and wrapped it in parchment paper, then placed it neatly in a bag, sealing it with a sticker of the cafe’s logo. “Here you go, bestie!” Alexia handed the danish to him.
“Thank you so much, by the way, I have a question to ask both of you,” Lucas sat down on one of the pink stools at the bar where milkshakes and other desserts were served. “Could you tell me who all works at Barney’s as of right now?”
“Oh god, Lucas if this is about a boy we aren’t stalking him. It could ruin our business,” Manon said, shaking her head.
“I’ll stalk a boy for you, Lucas,” Alexia said as she rested her head on her hand, smiling. “Especially if he’s cute!”
“He is. His name is Eliott, do you guys know anything about him? Such as his last name?” Lucas questioned.
“Well, I’ve seen a new guy there recently. I mean, Lucas, you have to keep in mind we don’t know our other shopkeeper neighbors that well. We’ve only been here, what? Two years?” Manon looked at Alexia for confirmation. “Yeah, only about two years, Lu.”
“Are you talking about the boy with the gorgeous golden hair? Kinda tall with lanky limbs? Like a spider monkey?” Alexia asked.
“Um, I guess you could describe him that way?”
“Yeah, he’s new. He just started working there in February. He and Idriss seem like great friends for only working there a month or so,” Alexia commented.
“Lucas, this is silly! Why don’t you just go over there and ask for the boy’s number?” Manon tried reasoning with Lucas.
“Manon, I want to avoid embarrassment as much as possible.”
“Come on, Lu! You’re attractive and sweet as honey! He wouldn’t question as to why you were asking for his number, in fact, I think he’d be thrilled to have a number from a boy like you,” Alexia said as she patted Lucas’ head.
“But what if he’s not gay?” Lucas frowned.
“I didn’t even think of that,” Alexia realized, looking quite shocked as to how she didn’t think of that.
“Maybe you could ask Emmy and Kenzie? They’ve worked at their shop longer than we have. Maybe they know who this Eliott boy is,” Manon suggested.
“Brilliant, Manon! I should get on my way then. Lovely seeing you beauties.” Lucas winked and Alexia blushed.
“Bye, Lu!” Alexia smiled and waved after him. “Oh, Manon, just look at how excited he is about this boy.”
“I’m worried he’ll get his heartbroken. You know how clueless boys can be, what if Eliott is the same? And with Eliott potentially being Lucas’ first boyfriend? That’s terrifying,” Manon sighed and shook her head as she switched out the day-old tray of cookies with brand new ones.
“Give it a chance.”
———————————————————————
“Emmy! Kenzie!” Lucas shouted, knocking on The Book Nook’s door. “I know you’re in there just stalling on opening up the store because you want to keep reading your pleasure reads!”
Kenzie finally opened the door.
“No need to call us out like that, Lucas,” Kenzie said as she flipped the sign from “closed” to “open”.
“This is urgent! I have a boy on my mind and I need information on him immediately!” Lucas demanded.
“Oh, do tell!” Emmy enthused.
“He works at the flower shop across the street, he has beautiful golden hair, and the bluest eyes I’ve ever seen,” Lucas might have daydreamed about Eliott a little too much. “His name is Eliott.”
“Eliott Demaury?” Kenzie chimed in.
“Is that his last name?” Lucas perked up.
“Lu, that’s Barney’s grandson!” Emmy exclaimed.
“But, how come I’ve never seen him before?”
“Well, he only came back to work at Barney’s about a month or so ago. He used to work there all the time when he was younger, I’m not sure why he left,” Kenzie commented. “I heard he took his grandfather’s death pretty hard.”
Suddenly, it went quiet. Lucas frowned at that statement. He may not know a single thing about Eliott aside from his name, but he did know that he never wanted to see Eliott be depressed. If Lucas was going to try and be this man’s boyfriend, he wanted Eliott to be the happiest he’s ever been.
“D-Do you know if he’s gay?” Lucas stuttered out.
“Oh, Lu, I have no idea,” Kenzie frowned at Lucas and rubbed his shoulder comfortingly. “I do have his Instagram though, in case you wanted to ‘slide into his DM’s’.”
Instantly, butterflies appeared and fluttered in Lucas’ stomach, he could finally talk to Eliott.
“Could you give it to me?” Lucas smiled in enthusiasm.
“Well, of course, my dear boy!” Kenzie and Emmy laughed.
Kenzie wrote down his Instagram username on a post-it note and handed it to Lucas.
“I owe you one,” Lucas clasped Kenzie’s hands and pulled her in for a hug. Lucas noticed the danish he had placed on the counter when he walked in and grabbed it. “Hey! Have this free danish!”
“No problem, Lucas,” Kenzie cracked the seal and opened the bag. “It smells divine! Alexia and Manon make the best danishes in the world, and that’s a fact.”
Lucas soon left the shop and started his walk back home. Lucas pulled the note out of his pocket. This was the key to the door of the unknown. He didn’t know what to expect. He avoided thinking of the possibility that Eliott was straight and had no interest in him, but that wouldn’t explain the extra bouquet he had received yesterday. Lucas folded the note and tucked it back into his pocket. As he walked, he looked ahead to admire the mountains and prayed that this boy would be the one to change his life.
———————————————————————
Lucas decided that going back home wouldn’t be the best option. The rest of the gang would already have already left for work so it would have been Lucas in an empty apartment. Instead, he headed for a park that was a few blocks from the gang’s building. The note with Eliott’s Instagram had been burning a hole in Lucas’s pocket the whole walk here. Now Lucas sat on a bench that overlooked a pond, the note waiting to be unfolded.
Kids laughed as their parents pushed them on the swings and birds whistled back and forth to one another, but Lucas wasn’t paying any attention to them. His focus was on the post-it note that now sat in his hands. Lucas wasn’t sure what to do. He could unfold the note, message Eliott, and everything could fall into place. Or, he could message him and Eliott could think he was a total weirdo and never speak to him again, leading Lucas to never show his face on King’s Grove to avoid a very awkward run-in.
It’s been less than 24 hours and you’re acting like a complete idiot. Pull it together, Luc. You never know unless you try.
Lucas took a deep breath, unfolded the note, and typed the username into the Instagram search bar.
plantjunkieeli
The loading circle just kept spinning and spinning. If this is some stupid sign, Lucas thought, I swear-
The profiles loaded. And there he was at the top.
Tumblr media
Lucas scrolled through Eliott’s photos like he would any of his friends, but if he stared just a little longer at the ones that were just Eliott, no one had to know. Lucas went back to the top of Eliott’s profile, his finger hovering over the ‘message’ button.
Here goes nothing
Lucas hit the button and a new screen came up along with the keyboard. He wasn’t sure what to say, ‘Hey, thanks for the flowers, kiss me?’ Probably not. ‘Hi, I like you wanna go out?’ also a no. Lucas put his head into his hands, his phone twisting around as he did.
Why is this so hard? All I have to do is send a thank you, that’s it. Lucas took a deep breath before pulling his head back. He looked at his screen before his eyes went wide.
“You’ve got to be kidding.” he groaned. There in a little gray bubble sat a single ‘h’. That was it, absolutely nothing else. Lucas locked his phone and set it next to him on the bench, closing his eyes as he threw his head back. Lucas sat there for a few minutes, trying to figure out how he was going to fix this. What the hell is wrong with me-
Ping!
Lucas’ head shot up, eyes wide as he stared at his phone. His screen was facing down, making him unable to see the notification, but he had a feeling he knew what it was. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he picked up the phone and turned it over.
plantjunkieeli sent you a message!
Lucas slid his finger across the screen and unlocked his phone, opening up Instagram.
plantjunkieeli: h?
lucallemant: i meant to send hi but my fingers went a little too fast
lucallemant: but hi
plantjunkieeli: hi :)
Lucas’ hands were shaking. It didn’t seem like Eliott was completely weirded out by Lucas, that was a good sign, right?
lucallemant: thanks for the flowers, they’re beautiful
plantjunkieeli: no problem
Lucas sighed, not knowing how to carry on the conversation. He locked his phone and stuffed it in his pocket, standing up from the bench. He started walking in the direction of the apartment when his phone pinged again,
plantjunkieeli: beautiful people deserve beautiful flowers :)

with great power (elu spiderman au)
eliott has been saved by spiderman quite a few times for absolutely no reason. hopeless romantic that he is, eliott accidentally starts falling for spiderman somewhere along the way and doesn’t know what to do about it. obviously, there’s only one solution. he and his good friend lucas should pretend to date to make spiderman jealous. there’s no ulterior motives here, of course, just lucas helping a bro out.
aka eliott’s falling in love with spiderman, lucas is in love with eliott, and lucas is spiderman.

no.2 “So, you have a thing for Spiderman.”
Eliott was deeply lost in thought when a tray slammed down beside him. He jolted in his seat to find Lucas grinning at him. “You seem happy,” he said hesitantly.
“And?” Lucas asked, stabbing the pasta on his tray with a fork.
Eliott narrowed his eyes. “And nothing, I guess, but what’s the occasion?”
“I need an occasion to smile?”
“Usually,” Eliott shrugged, going back into his daydream. He barely noticed as Lucas’ smile dipped into a frown, too focused on the delusions happening inside his own head. He was a chronic daydreamer and a hopeless romantic which was quite the combination if you asked any of his friends.
Eliott barely noticed when Yann, Arthur, and Basile came and sat down with them until Arthur nodded in his direction. “What’s up with him now?”
“The Demaury Daydream Factory never stops,” Lucas explained, poking Eliott with the sharp end of his fork.
“Ouch!” Eliott glared at Lucas, as if he could ever actually be mad at him. As long as they’d known each other, all Lucas had to do was widen those big blue eyes of his and Eliott would immediately soften into a sappy pile of goo.
“Well, stop the daydreams, because I’ve got big news.” Basile shot them all a toothy grin. The four of them stared at him blankly, waiting for him to carry on. “This weekend we’re invited to a party at Emma’s house.”
Yann looked at him strangely. “Why is that news? Emma told me about it yesterday.”
Basile ignored him. “The big news is that Daphné invited me personally.”
Arthur clapped Basile on the back supportively, meeting Eliott’s eyes briefly and shaking his head. Was Basile ever going to end up with Daphné? Probably not, but Eliott admired his persistence. It was more likely than Eliott getting together with Spiderman.
Eliott was vaguely aware of Lucas’ eyes on him during the rest of the lunch period, and he resisted the urge to question him about it. Maybe he’d noticed that Eliott’s absent-mindedness was a little different than it usually was. He couldn’t help it, really. He wished he could.
Another thought that had crept into his mind earlier that day that he hadn’t been able to let go of. Did Spiderman go to his school? Was that why he’d been so worried about Eliott knowing his age, because he’d worried Eliott might know him? It seemed unlikely, but it was definitely possible.
“Shit, I gotta go,” Arthur stood up hurriedly, shoving the last of the food in his mouth. He hopped up from his seat and pulled Basile behind him, the latter huffing in indignation.
“I’m not done!” he screeched as Arthur attempted to drag him away.
“No time, we have to meet Alexia, remember?”
Basile’s eyes widened. “Fuck, I forgot.”
“Well, come on!” he urged, and Basile finally put down the food he’d been attempting to shove into his mouth and ran after Arthur. He tripped and did an impressive ninja roll recovery on the way out of the room that Eliott couldn’t help but roll his eyes at in admiration. Sometimes the two year difference between him and the boys really showed, but he didn’t mind it.
“What are they doing?” Lucas asked Yann, who rolled his eyes.
“Alexia asked them to film the dance class so some of the girls who wanted to keep dancing after lycée could send the footage to universities,” Yann explained, “I think Arthur is doing it for the right reasons, but I don’t think Basile is.”
Lucas laughed, tipping his head down as he did so. “Yeah, I think we all could have guessed that one.”
“You don’t want to go help out? Check out some hot girls?” Eliott teased Lucas, knowing full well that was the last thing Lucas cared about. As he said it another thought raced into his mind. Fuck, was Spiderman even into guys? Just because he’d randomly saved Eliott a few times, it didn’t mean that he was into Eliott like that. Eliott suddenly felt like an idiot.
When Eliott looked up Yann was giving Lucas a look he couldn’t decipher, like he was trying to communicate something. Lucas was frowning slightly, but he looked resigned to whatever Yann was trying to say.
Yann stood abruptly. “You have a point,” he said to Eliott.
Eliott blinked, trying to remember if he’d said anything that Yann would agree with. Yann gestured vaguely. “Checking out girls… not Lucas’ thing, but I’m not opposed.”
“Yann…” Lucas warned, and Yann raised his hands in surrender.
“Kidding, kidding, I’m going to keep Basile in line. The last thing these girls need is his drool all over the camera while they film.”
“Ha ha,” Lucas deadpanned, but he looked a bit nervous.
Yann saluted the two of them with two fingers before Lucas could get another word in, jogging out of the room after their two other friends. When it was just the two of them again, Eliott cleared his throat, unsure of what to say. He never usually felt awkward around Lucas, but he couldn’t exactly talk about what he wanted to talk about. He couldn’t just say “Hey, you know, I think I have a thing for spiderman and it’s all I can think about”, Lucas would think he was insane.
“So,” Lucas began slowly, “You have a thing for Spiderman.”
Shit, had he said that out loud? Lucas must have seen his eyebrows crease in worry and surprise, because he laughed and continued, “Dude, no offense, but you’re not subtle at all.”
“I do not have a thing for Spiderman,” Eliott lied fruitlessly.
Lucas humored him, great friend that he was. “Ok, fine, I won’t help you then.” Eliott narrowed his eyes. So much for great friend, that reverse psychology shit wouldn’t work on him. He was curious though… what kind of help was Lucas talking about? Ugh, fine, maybe the reverse psychology shit was working.
“What kind of help are you talking about?”
Lucas smiled his shit eating grin that Eliott pretended not to love even when he knew Lucas could see right through him. “You need to make him jealous.”
“Jealous,” Eliott repeated.
Lucas nodded like it was the most obvious solution in the world. Eliott mulled over how he could possibly do that. Lucas clearly had an answer, from the way he was looking at Eliott. There was one thing that was still bugging Eliott, though. “What if he’s not into guys? Aren’t superheroes usually all about that damsel in distress sort of thing?”
Lucas choked on the water he’d been attempting to sip while Eliott talked. “Let’s just assume for the sake of the plan that he is. Besides, you make the perfect little damsel yourself, Demaury,” Lucas giggled, ruffling Eliott’s hair into his eyes.
“Shut up,” Eliott said, but he was laughing as he fixed his hair. “Now tell me the plan I can tell you’ve been dying to tell me.”
“What plan?” Lucas asked in mock confusion. Eliott leveled him with a dead faced stare until Lucas finally relented. “Ok, fine, I do have a plan. But you can say no, ok?”
“Ok?”
Lucas bit his lip, glancing down at his hands. “So we have to make him jealous, right?” Eliott nodded. “One way to do that would be to date someone,” Lucas explained further. Eliott wasn’t following.
“Why would I date someone else if I have a crush on him?” he asked, realizing as he spoke how stupid he sounded. This was Spiderman, not Lucas, or someone like that. What were the odds of Spiderman seeing him enough to realize he had a boyfriend or girlfriend or to even be jealous of it?
“You wouldn’t actually date them,” Lucas said, like it should have been obvious, “You just pretend to date them long enough to get Spiderman’s attention.”
“But I don’t want to upset the person I’m pretending to date…”
“Obviously not, dumbass, they’d have to agree to it too!” Lucas sounded exasperated and Eliott couldn’t blame him.
Eliott still had one question, though. “Who’d agree to something like that?”
Lucas tipped his head back, rolling his eyes, before returning his gaze to Eliott and gesturing to himself. “You?” Eliott confirmed with an incredulous laugh.
Lucas nodded, and Eliott shook his head. “No way, that’s crazy! I can’t do that to you.”
“Who says I’m not getting something out of it?” Lucas asked.
Eliott narrowed his eyes. “What are you getting out of it?”
Lucas shrugged, playing it off casually. “Maybe I want someone to fall in love with me too.”
Eliott hadn’t thought about that. He supposed it could be true, especially if Lucas was willing to go along with a charade like this. He was sure Lucas wouldn’t have suggested it if there wasn’t something in it for him. Eliott knew this because he would have been the exact same way. “Who?” he asked.
“Who what?”
“Who do you want to fall in love with you?” Eliott rephrased. If Lucas got to know his embarrassing crush, he wanted to know who Lucas was so interested in.
“None of your business,” Lucas shot back with a wiggle of his eyebrows.
Eliott squinted. “Not true, you just made it my business.”
“You don’t have a plan without me though, and if you won’t let this go I won’t help you.” Lucas crossed his arms in front of his chest smugly.
“Fine,” Eliott bluffed, “I’ll ask Arthur, then.”
Lucas started giggling uncontrollably. “You really think Arthur will help you woo Spiderman?” Fair point. Arthur would take the piss at him so often the whole charade would be torture. Lucas was his only real option.
“Fine,” Eliott repeated, “You win. You have to ask me, though.”
“Ask you what?”
“Ask me to be your boyfriend.”
Lucas scoffed like Eliott was joking. He met Eliott’s eyes and sat up a bit straighter in his seat. “Wait, you’re serious?”
“Dead serious.”
“Fuck, Eliott…”
“Pretty please?” Eliott asked, giving Lucas his best puppy dog eyes. Lucas wasn’t the only one with big blue eyes, after all. He could see Lucas start to smile and he knew he’d won.
Lucas cleared his throat. “Eliott Demaury, will you do me the esteemed honor of being my fake boyfriend?”
“Hmmm…” Eliott pretended to think it over and Lucas hit him on the shoulder. “I have thought about it, and I accept your request, Lucas Lallemant. I will be your fake boyfriend.” He held out a hand and Lucas grasped it, shaking it once before letting go quicker than Eliott expected. “What are we going to tell everyone?” he asked.
Lucas considered for a moment. “I don’t think we should tell them it’s fake. If we do, we’ll have to answer all their questions and I don’t think either of us want to do that.”
That was a good point. Eliott could only imagine all the shit they’d get for pretending to date so Eliott could make Spiderman jealous. “They’re never going to believe that we just started dating out of nowhere, though, at least our close friends won’t,” he pointed out.
Lucas frowned, and Eliott wondered if he hadn’t exactly thought the whole thing through before suggesting it. Then, his eyes lit up. “The party on Saturday.”
“What about it?”
“We can pretend we hooked up that night, caught feelings, and decided to see where it would go,” Lucas suggested, looking proud of himself. Eliott had to admit it was a pretty good idea, and he told Lucas so. Lucas blushed brilliantly, and Eliott could feel himself smiling. Yeah, he might enjoy being Lucas’ fake boyfriend if he was able to continue to make Lucas blush like that.
🕷🕷🕷🕷
The party was soon and Eliott couldn’t help but feel a little bit excited. He didn’t know if there was any rules to this whole fake dating thing that he should be following, especially because he didn’t want to make Lucas feel uncomfortable in any way. He also wasn’t entirely certain how long Lucas wanted them to do this thing, maybe until each of them got the attention of the person they desired. In that case, Eliott was worried they might be pretending forever. It wouldn’t be that bad, he supposed, to pretend to be in love with Lucas. He already loved him, how much harder could it be to fake being in love?
He was a creative person, acting should come naturally to him, right? Hopefully it would come naturally to Lucas as well. He suspected it would, Lucas was incredible at everything he did, and was quite the skilled liar when he wanted to be. Never to Eliott, though, at least as far as he knew. Lucas had been the hardest of the gang to get to know at first because, for all he pretended to be an open book, he held everything personal about him so close to his chest that it was a wonder anyone ever got to know him at all.
Yet somehow, Eliott had been allowed inside the wall Lucas built around himself, and neither of them had ever looked back. Eliott was pretty open with everything about himself, so when he’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Lucas immediately knew that something was different, not bad, just different. He’d waited for Eliott to tell him, never pushing or prodding because he could see how much Eliott was struggling with himself, and when he finally did confide in Lucas, he was there for him in ways Eliott had never imagined he would be.
Lucas had told him, since then, that he’d rather have Eliott at his highs and lows than not at all, and something about the deep sincerity of that statement held Eliott aloft even in his darkest moments. He was so lucky to have a friend like Lucas, truly.
His thoughts were interrupted by a faint whoosh, then a light rattling of the rungs on his fire escape. Eliott wasn’t expecting to run into Spiderman before the party that weekend, but the world always had a way of surprising him. Another surprise was that, this time, Spiderman didn’t pretend to have a reason to be there other than to talk with Eliott.
Aside from the faint noises he’d heard, partially because maybe he’d been listening for anything out of the ordinary, Spiderman appeared seemingly out of nowhere. “How do you do that?” was the first thing he asked.
Spiderman shrugged. “Practice.”
“Can you teach me?” Eliott joked and Spiderman laughed lightly.
“No. You’re not Spiderman,” he reminded Eliott needlessly. The reminder also served to make Eliott come back to his senses, realize who he was talking to. Should he bring up Lucas now, or wait until after the party in a few days? It wasn’t like Spiderman would tell anyone, so it couldn’t hurt to plant the seed now, right?
He figured he’d ease into the topic. “I heard you coming,” he said.
“Lies,” Spiderman responded immediately, and Eliott couldn’t help but giggle.
“Lies? Maybe you’re just not as stealthy as you thought you were,” he suggested.
Spiderman paused, and Eliott could bet that he was frowning inside that mask of his. “The suit is supposed to be soundproof. That’s what Ima— I mean, that’s what the, uh, the government said.”
Eliott was confused, not by the soundproof suit. “You work for the government?”
“Well, no,” Spiderman admitted.
“But they gave you your suit?”
Spiderman sighed. “I’m usually better at lying to people.”
“Wow,” Eliott said, grinning, “The Amazing Spiderman admits that he’s a world class liar? How dare you call yourself a superhero.”
Spiderman crossed his arms. “I never called myself a superhero. And besides, isn’t lying all I do? At least outside the mask?”
Huh, Eliott had never really thought about it like that. He shrugged. “I still think you’re a hero.”
“Isn’t that the problem?” Spiderman asked, not waiting for Eliott to answer before continuing, “Calling someone a hero, believing they’re more than a confused sixteen year old running around in a mask trying their best to do something, anything, just because they were bitten by someone’s fucked up science experiment?”
“I guess that’s one way to put it…” Eliott trailed off, looking at Spiderman out of the corner of his eye. It was so hard to get a read on him with that stupid mask on. He understood why it was necessary, having superpowers was like being famous, if anyone knew who he really was he’d never catch a break, but Eliott still longed to see the boy behind the mask.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be complaining. I didn’t have to do any of this, I just… couldn’t sit around and do nothing, you know?” Spiderman sounded like he was trying to convince Eliott of something, but he didn’t know what.
Eliott stubbed out his cigarette. “I’m sorry for calling you a hero. I get what you mean, I have no idea what I would do in your situation, that’s for sure. I’d probably just let the bad guys win.”
“Why? You don’t think people are worth saving?” Spiderman seemed genuinely curious, even with his voice screwed up enough that Eliott wouldn’t be able to hear what he really sounded like.
He shook his head. “No, quite the contrary, I just think that if the world was in my hands I wouldn’t know what to do with it. I’m not the type of person you give that kind of responsibility.”
Spiderman was quiet a long moment, almost like he either didn’t know what to say, or he knew exactly what to say but didn’t want to say it. “Sorry,” Eliott apologized, “I should warn you that I’m not as optimistic as I pretend to be. I guess we’re both liars.”
“You’re anything but,” Spiderman said, turning to face him, “Choosing to try to be happy, especially when you aren’t, is far more admirable than swinging from building to building like you’re some kind of god. It’s my fault, in the end, if people treat me like a hero, an enigma.”
Eliott bit his bottom lip absently. How could someone with superpowers, for christ’s sake, have so little faith in himself but so much faith in a stranger? He hadn’t been lying when he’d said he understood what Spiderman was saying, but he didn’t agree. He wouldn’t say anything, but Spiderman was a hero. Not because he had superpowers, but because he chose to help the world in any way he could when most people would use and abuse their powers until they became a villain. Eliott could certainly see himself falling onto that path.
“So, do you have any fun plans this weekend?” Spiderman changed the subject abruptly, and Eliott was glad he did. His thoughts were getting a bit too dark for his own good, spiraling into his eternal tunnel of self doubt and existential crisis.
Was now a good time to drop Lucas into conversation, or would that be weird? “Why are you asking? Trying to stalk me again?” Eliott teased instead, waiting until the opportunity presented itself.
“Hilarious,” Spiderman said, but didn’t deny it, “So?”
“I’m going to a party,” Eliott found himself responding. Spiderman nodded once, waiting for Eliott to continue, almost as if he knew there were words on his tongue he was working up the nerve to say. “I didn’t really want to go, parties can be a bit overwhelming, to be honest, but my boyfriend wanted to go, so…” Well, now it was out there. He really hoped Lucas wouldn’t be mad.
“Your boyfriend?”
Oh, shit, what if Spiderman was homophobic or something? “I’m pansexual,” he said, as if that would make it any better.
“Ok?”
“Yeah, it’s when you like all genders, or people regardless of gender, you know? Sometimes there’s—”
Spiderman cut him off. “Eliott, I know what pansexuality is. I don’t live my entire life away from society in this suit, you know.”
“Right.” He was such an idiot. “Um, is that… ok?”
“Is what ok?”
“Me being pansexual?”
Spiderman snorted, and his laugh sounded oddly familiar to Eliott. Before he had time to dwell on it, Spiderman gasped through his laughter. “Dude! What kind of superhero would I be if I was panphobic?”
“Fuck, I don’t know! Didn’t you just say you weren’t a superhero anyway?”
“Glad you were paying attention.” If he hadn’t been wearing that damn mask, Eliott would have been willing to bet that he was still smiling. “I just didn’t know you had a boyfriend.”
“Oh, yeah, well, it’s new,” Eliott stammered, trying to sound like he knew what he was talking about.
Spiderman nodded. “That’s cool. What’s his name?”
“Lucas.”
“Lucas,” Spiderman repeated, “Nice name. I bet he’s cute.”
“The cutest,” Eliott said, mostly to make Spiderman jealous. It wasn’t a lie, Lucas was the cutest. Spiderman choked on nothing, maybe air, maybe his saliva, maybe Eliott’s words.
“That’s cool,” Spiderman squeaked out. Eliott eyed him carefully. Was it possible Lucas’ plan was actually working? Before he had time to consider it further, his phone rang. He frowned down at the screen, why was Manon calling him?
He apologized briefly to Spiderman, who waved him off, allowing him to turn and take the call. “Manon? What’s up?” he asked warily.
“Hey, Eliott, have you seen Lucas?” she asked.
Was something wrong? Lucas would have texted him if something was wrong, wouldn’t he? “No, I haven’t… Is everything all right?”
“Oh, yeah, I’m sure it’s nothing,” she said, but Eliott was still concerned.
“Do you want me to call him?”
“No, no, it’s fine, really. He just said he was going out but he didn’t tell us where and his phone’s off. I’m just being overprotective, fuck, I really am his mom.” Manon didn’t sound worried, so Eliott calmed down a little bit. He wondered if Lucas was off with whatever boy he was in love with. Would that mean their deal was off?
“Maybe call Yann,” Eliott suggested, and Manon laughed shortly.
“You’re right, I don’t know why I didn’t… Sorry for bothering you Eliott.”
He shook his head even though he knew she couldn’t see him. “No problem, just let me know when you know what’s up? I guess I’m a little overprotective too.”
“I will, oh— he’s at Yann’s, Mika just got off the phone. Again, sorry for bothering you. He’s just been disappearing so much lately, acting all weird, I want to make sure things aren’t bad with his family again or something.” Now that she brought it up, Lucas had been a bit flaky recently. Not with him, necessarily, but the other boys and his roommates complained about it sometimes.
“It’s no big deal, Manon, seriously. I’m glad you thought to call me. See you tomorrow, ok?” She muttered goodbyes to him and hung up, leaving Eliott to turn back to Spiderman on the fire escape and let out a breathy laugh.
“Sorry about that—” he began, but Spiderman was gone.
🕷🕷🕷🕷
He didn’t mention the meeting with Spiderman to Lucas the next day, nor the next. He resolved to tell him about it at the party, but they were both a few drinks in at that point and Eliott still hadn’t spilled. He didn’t know why, he was still buzzing about it, dying to know why Spiderman had left and why he’d come in the first place.
Eliott had met the boys at Lucas’ flat before the party, and he and Lucas had exchanged a conspiratorial glance as soon as he’d arrived. They hadn’t had a chance to talk alone yet, though, so Eliott chalked up his silence to that, not wanting to have to explain his feelings for Spiderman to the others because they would probably laugh in his face.
Basile was going on and on about Daphné, which would have been all well and good if he hadn’t done the exact same thing every single time the five of them hung out together. Lucas caught Eliott’s eye and rolled his, nodding towards the kitchen. Eliott gave him a subtle nod of acknowledgement before offering to grab more drinks for the boys and following Lucas into the much less crowded kitchen.
Lucas sighed and leaned against the counter. “There’s only so much more of that I can listen to,” he groaned.
“You’re telling me,” Eliott said with wide eyes, popping the top off another beer bottle on the edge of the counter. There was a nice, comfortable silence between the two of them and Eliott knew that now was his moment to bring up his interaction with Spiderman. He cleared his throat awkwardly, drawing Lucas’ bemused stare. “I saw Spiderman again, the other day,” he began.
Lucas raised his eyebrows, but said nothing else, waiting for Eliott to continue. He did, trying his best to articulate the conversation they’d had without giving Lucas any real details. What they discussed deserved to stay between them, and Lucas seemed to understand and respect that. “I did kind of tell him that you were my boyfriend, though. Not that he knows you, but it just kind of slipped out.”
“Ok?” Lucas said, furrowing his brow.
“Well, I just wanted to tell you because we agreed to start ‘dating’ after tonight and I screwed that up and—”
Lucas placed a hand on Eliott’s arm, startling him enough to cut him off. “Hey,” Lucas said, a faint smile playing across his face, “It’s all good. I highly doubt Spiderman went off telling people you have a boyfriend.”
“Oh. Yeah. You’re right.” Eliott felt heat rushing to his face and he pulled away from Lucas’ reach, leaning back against the kitchen island, mirroring Lucas’ position on the opposite side. “Sorry, I just… I don’t know. I feel stupid doing this whole thing. Why did I have to choose Spiderman, of all people?”
“What do you mean?”
Eliott gestured vaguely. “You know I’m a hopeless romantic, it’s not like it’s much of a secret, but why couldn’t I fall for someone more obtainable? What on earth makes me think a goddamn superhero would ever give me the time of day?”
“Eliott,” Lucas began sternly, “Spiderman would be an idiot not to give you the time of day. Besides, it seems like he already is, what with all the saving you and conversations and everything. You have to remember that he’s just some kid in a mask, not a deity.”
Eliott knew that, it was basically the same conversation he’d had with Spiderman earlier that week, but he didn’t know how to explain properly that he didn’t like Spiderman because of his superpowers, he liked him because of the goodness at his core, the fact that he’d used his superpowers to be a hero, whether he wanted to be called one or not. Instead, he changed the subject slightly. “What would you do if you had superpowers?”
Lucas blinked in surprise, a look flickering across his face that Eliott couldn’t decipher. He almost looked worried. “I don’t know,” Lucas said after a moment of silence, “I guess I’d like to say that I’d be a hero, but I think I’d probably be too freaked out by the whole superpower thing and I’d let someone else choose what I should do. Being a superhero would never occur to me until someone else suggested it. If that makes sense, which I don’t think it does.”
Eliott found himself smiling at Lucas’ response because, yes, it made sense. It was nice to know that Lucas was like him in this way, unsure whether saving the world was a topic for them to think about or not. “It does make sense, really.” Lucas gave him a skeptical look, but he ignored it.
“I think I’d be a villain,” he said quietly.
To his surprise, Lucas grinned. “Why, because villains are always hot?”
“Ha, ha,” he deadpanned, ducking his head slightly. “But no, I just don’t think I’d have any other choice. I’m not a good person, no matter how hard I try to be. I’m too fucked up to be a hero, so that leaves me with villain.”
“You’re not fucked up.”
“But I am,” Eliott protested, “It’s not like I have a choice in that matter either, but people like me never become the heroes. We just feed into our own nightmares until they swallow us whole.”
Lucas didn’t say anything and Eliott worried he’d said too much. Sure, Lucas was always there for Eliott when he needed to talk about these sorts of things, but he always tried to keep those conversations surface level, never quite getting below the surface and into the true darkness of his mind. Maybe the alcohol made his tongue loose, or maybe he thought that, just this once, Lucas would be able to understand.
Lucas placed his beer on the counter and looked up into Eliott’s eyes. “Then I can feed you my dreams.”
“What?”
“I can feed you my dreams,” Lucas repeated, “To combat your nightmares. You’ll never be swallowed whole as long as I’m with you, ok?”
Eliott felt a tear prick in the corner of his eye and he willed it away, knowing that bursting into tears at a party would probably ruin the mood. Even so, the only thing he wanted to do at that moment was pull Lucas close and hold him tight and never let go. He always asked himself what he’d done right to deserve a friend like Lucas, but he still couldn’t come up with an answer.
He didn’t say anything more, couldn’t form the words to express the depth of gratitude and love he felt at that moment, but he could tell that Lucas understood the words he couldn’t say, the ones written in his eyes and the way he smiled softly at Lucas like he was the only person in the entire world. Whoever Lucas was in love with was one lucky guy.
“How long does it take to grab a few drinks?” Arthur asked loudly, entering the kitchen with Yann and Basile in tow. Yann eyed Eliott as he walked in, then looked at Lucas. Something passed between Lucas and Yann, but Eliott didn’t know what it meant.
“Sorry,” Lucas said, “We got distracted.” He winked at Eliott then and Eliott remembered they were supposed to be pretending now, putting on enough of a show that when they came to school Monday people would believe that they were together. He was surprised at how quickly Lucas could go from one persona to another, throwing on a social mask like he hadn’t just said one of the kindest things Eliott had ever heard.
“Well prepare to be even more distracted,” Arthur said, wiggling his eyebrows.
Eliott locked eyes with Yann, who shrugged. “Come again?”
Arthur gave them all a wide, mischievous grin before pulling out a small baggie of weed. Lucas’ eyebrows skyrocketed and Yann nodded in appreciation. “You’ve been holding out on us, huh?” Yann teased, grabbing the weed from Arthur and beginning to roll a joint.
Arthur shrugged. “I was waiting for the perfect time.”
Eliott knew he probably shouldn’t smoke, but he wasn’t as rational as he should have been due to the few drinks he’d had, and he held out a hand for the joint once Yann took a drag. Lucas looked at him in concern, but Eliott tried to reassure him with his eyes. It would be fine, it wasn’t like he was smoking every day or anything. Eliott handed the joint off to Lucas when he was done and Lucas beckoned him closer, hopping up on the counter. “Have you ever tried shotgunning?” he asked, and Eliott raised his eyebrows. Was this how they were going to play it, then?
“No, I haven’t,” he answered truthfully. He’d sort of attempted it once, but it hadn’t quite worked like it was supposed to and Idriss had laughed at him for hours afterward. Lucas beckoned him closer still, lifting the joint to his mouth. Eliott couldn’t take his eyes off Lucas’ mouth and he had to blink a few times to remind himself that they were just pretending, Lucas wasn’t actually trying to seduce him.
Lucas placed the tips of his fingers under Eliott’s chin, tilting his head as if to ask Is this ok? It was. Lucas brought their mouths close together and Eliott opened his mouth instinctively, waiting for Lucas to open his. His mind flashed briefly, wondering just how much of a show they were going to put on. Not just that night, but all the days and nights that followed. Would they kiss? Hold hands? Sleep in the same bed whenever Lucas’ roommates were home?
The thoughts were wiped from his mind as quickly as they’d come when Lucas exhaled, transferring the smoke from his mouth to Eliott’s. Their lips were so close to touching, so close that Eliott could almost convince himself he’d felt them, so close that Eliott’s brain malfunctioned a bit, asking him why he didn’t just kiss Lucas right there, Spiderman be damned.
Then Lucas pulled away, and Eliott’s thoughts righted themselves, and they returned back to the world that existed outside the two of them. Arthur and Basile’s mouths were open in shock, and Yann was looking back and forth between the two of them with a look not of surprise, but of hesitation.
Lucas was completely red in the face when Eliott dared to look at him again, but the corner of his mouth twitched when their eyes met, letting Eliott know that he was clearly enjoying the little performance. Why Lucas was an S student when acting was so clearly his calling was beyond Eliott.
Lucas hopped off the counter with a sigh. “I think I’m going to head out, Mika texted a minute ago and said he needed my help with something.”
“It’s one in the morning?” Basile asked confusedly, and Arthur nudged him in the side.
Eliott grabbed his jacket from where he’d draped it over one of the chairs close by. “I can walk you home?”
“That would be great,” Lucas grinned, and Basile let out a small oh. Let them think whatever they wanted, everything would be confirmed by Monday, Eliott supposed. He’d probably have to stay over at Lucas’ that night, but that was fine. He’d stayed over there plenty of times, this one was no different.
Lucas’ fingers brushed his gently as he began to walk out of the kitchen, and Eliott made the decision to grab onto his hand, letting Lucas pull him through the throngs of people, leaving their friends a bit stunned in the kitchen.
Once they were outside, Lucas laughed maniacally. “Did you see their faces? Oh god, I swear Baz was about to have an aneurysm.”
Eliott laughed softly, incapable of maintaining a straight face when Lucas was still laughing like that. “You’re a natural, Lallemant, I can’t believe I ever doubted you.”
“You doubted me?” Lucas scoffed indignantly.
“Only a little bit.” Eliott grinned as Lucas pouted, reaching over to ruffle his hair. Another perk to fake dating was that he could touch Lucas’ hair whenever he wanted to and Lucas couldn’t complain about it anymore.
“Are you actually going to walk me home?” Lucas asked.
Eliott shrugged. “That was the plan. Besides, we have to convince your roommates we’re dating too, right?”
“Oh yeah…”
“After you, then?” Eliott gestured to the empty street in front of them.
“After me, then,” Lucas said, a bit dazedly. He looked back to make sure Eliott was following, light of the stars and the moon reflecting in those bright blue eyes of his. There was no doubt that Lucas was the most beautiful person Eliott had ever known, Eliott highly doubted Spiderman even compared.
“What are you looking at?” Lucas asked self consciously, lowering his gaze and allowing Eliott a full look at his profile, all sharp jawlines and high cheekbones and long eyelashes.
“My boyfriend,” Eliott teased, catching up to Lucas at last. Lucas pressed his eyes closed so tight it looked painful. “What are you doing?” Eliott asked, wondering if he’d said something wrong.
“Committing this moment to memory,” Lucas said, then opened his eyes abruptly, like he’d said something he shouldn’t have. “After all,” he continued hurriedly, “It’s not every day you start the greatest scam the world has ever seen to convince a superhero to be your boyfriend.”
Eliott let out a soft laugh of relief. Lucas wasn’t freaking out, everything was good. “Shut up.”
Lucas gave him his trademark smirk, and Eliott could have pretended to be mad, or offended, but instead he grabbed onto Lucas’ hand, twirling him around once, before pulling him close and putting an arm around his shoulder. “This will be one hell of a story to tell our kids.”
Lucas rested his head against Eliott’s shoulder as they walked, giggling slightly. “Please don’t remind me that someday I’ll have to be a functioning adult.”
“I will do no such thing,” Eliott agreed, using his free hand to mime zipping his lips. Lucas rolled his eyes and laughed again, never once straying from his spot tucked into Eliott’s side.
They really did make a good pair, it was too bad they were both in love with someone else.

Whatever We Become
Summary: In Lucas’ final year of high school before he has to face the real world, he comes across the new identical twins, Eliott and Leo. Needless to say, Lucas falls head over heels for both of them.
Or The twin au absolutely no one asked for Warning(s): none
Word Count: 1.3k
Ao3 link(I finally decided to post there again) Chapter Five: Boyfriend On Monday, Lucas was sitting with the Yann, Imane and Alexia in the common room at one of the tables they had set up. He was trying to go over their Biology homework with Imane, leaning over a textbook while Imane read aloud, but he couldn’t seem to get his head wrapped around half of the facts. He was about to ask Imane to clarify something when his phone buzzed in his back pocket.
“One second,” he mumbled, turning away from Imane to pull out his phone to check his message.
It was from Leo.
Leo Demaury: Hey! I heard you chatted w/ eliott at the party on friday? Cool that you're friends!
Lucas smiled, typing back a response quickly and glancing sideways to see if any of his friends were watching.
Me: Yeah I guess. He helped me out at the party
“–but he's just being an idiot, as usual.” Meanwhile, completely ignorant to Lucas’ texting, Alexia was telling Yann and Imane about how she had broken up with her boyfriend finally.
Leo replied again, making a tiny smile appear in the corner of his lips as he unlocked his phone to read the reply.
Leo Demaury: Oh yeah, he said you fell over or something and he helped you up.
Leo Demaury: That's our eliott. Always helping out his friends when they're drunk
Lucas began typing a response, biting his bottom lip in concentration, when he felt a sharp jab in his side. Lucas yelped, flinching sideways and almost toppling out of his seat. Scowling, Lucas turned to the perpetrator, Imane, eyes squinting and eyebrows knitted together.
“What?” he groaned, pouting childishly.
Imane rolled her eyes, reaching up to flick his nose with her pen. “Can't you focus for more than one second? You want to pass, don't you?” Imane asked appraisingly, ever the mum friend between them. Lucas sighed, slipping his phone into his back pocket and nodding shyly, blushing. “Then stop texting your boyfriend or whatever and pay attention.”
Lucas froze in his seat at her final comment, eyes bulging comically. “I don't have a boyfriend,” he choked out, face burning.
“Could have fooled me,” Imane said with a shrug, turning back to her notes as if her comment hadn't just ripped Lucas’ entire being out of himself. “Right, where were we? Parts of the heart, wasn't it?”
Lucas shrugged, scooting down a bit in his chair. “Yeah, maybe,” he mumbled.
On Wednesday afternoon, it was a surprisingly warm day with the sun shining pleasantly down on the school building. Taking advantage of their free period and the nice weather, Lucas was sitting with the other boys outside on one of the low walls. He had his math notebook opened up in his lap, textbook next to him while he tried to solve one of the more complicated equations. Next to him, Yann was lounging with his head in Arthur's lap while he tried to read Antigone and ignore Arthur poking his hair. Basile was hunched over on Lucas’ right side with his back turned to the others, typing on his phone as usual.
“Cut it out, Arthur, I'm trying to read!” Yann whined, swatting Arthur's wrist as he was jabbed in the head with Arthur's newly sharpened pencil.
“You're the one with your head in his lap, dude,” Lucas pointed out, keeping his eyes on his notes and rubbing out a mistake. Fucking parabolas.
Lucas had almost forgotten his surroundings a few minutes later, having gotten so focused on trying to solve the many questions he had to do for homework that he didn't even noticed someone walking over. “Hey,” a familiar voice said from above him. Lucas looked up abruptly, knocking his pencil onto the concrete floor and coming face to face with Eliott Demaury.
He was dressed in his usual black hoodie and brown jacket, though he was wearing blue jeans for once. Either way, he was still hot in Lucas’ opinion. “Uh, hi,” Lucas stuttered, face flushing as he looked up into those bright grey eyes. Eliott bent down, plucking Lucas’ pencil from the ground and handing it back to him. As their fingers brushed, Lucas looked up at the other boy, feeling his face heat up under Eliott's gaze.
Did Eliott have to always look at him like that?
“Oh, Eliott! Hello!” Yann exclaimed, sitting up from Arthur's lap so he could not-so-subtly elbow Lucas in the side. “Sorry again about the other night. Lucas has informed me that I am a terrible drunk for confusing you for your brother,” Yann continued.
Lucas scowled at his friend, face pulled into a betrayed frown. Eliott laughed in response and Lucas could feel the sound all the way through his entire body, lighting his every nerve end on fire. “It's fine. You were intoxicated and it's not like it's the first time it happened, “ Eliott replied casually, shrugging nonchalantly.
“Did you need something?” Lucas asked, tilting his head to the side like a curious puppy. Eliott peeled his view from Yann to look back at Lucas, a grin melting onto his face.
“Uh, nothing in particular. Just wondering what you're up to,” Eliott asked, eyes boring into Lucas like a drill. Lucas forced himself to look away, feeling entirely watched and analysed. He wasn't used to that kind of attention at all, nevermind from one of the two hottest guys he had ever laid eyes on.
“We're not really doing anything. Just studying since it's a free period,” Arthur explained.
Eliott nodded, glancing back at Lucas. “Do you want to join us? There's plenty of room on the wall,” Yann suggested, scooting closer to Arthur and patting the spot right next to Lucas. Lucas held his breath, unsure of whether he wanted Eliott sitting so close. He didn't trust his self control enough as it was, nevermind when the other boy was sitting right there.
Eliott hesitated for a moment, looking back and forth between Lucas and Yann. Lucas glanced sideways at the empty spot and then back at Eliott. Dropping his bag on the ground, Eliott hopped easily up onto the wall, not even bothering to take any of his stuff out of his bag. He was sitting even closer to Lucas than he had expected, his entire leg pressed against Lucas’ from ankle to hips, shoulder leaning against Lucas like he belonged there.
Perhaps he did.
“Did you guys hear about the party at Charles’ house on Saturday?” Basile commented, finally looking up from his phone for the first time and turning around to face the other four boys.
“Those are always insane. We have to go,” Arthur replied excitedly, grinning broadly and almost bouncing in his seat. He turned to Eliott again and asked, “Are you going, Eliott? You can join us.”
Eliott shrugged, peering at Lucas out of the corner of his eye. “That depends. Who else is going?” he asked, looking back to Arthur.
“All of us, obviously,” Yann replied, leaning forwards to stare at Lucas, a knowing glint in his eye, “Right, Lucas?”
Lucas shrunk down in his seat on the wall, face burning. “Maybe. I have to study for my upcoming Biology test,” he muttered.
“I'll go if you do.” Eliott had turned entirely now, looking at Lucas with far too much intensity for such a nonchalant sentence. Swallowing, Lucas nodded, forcing himself to keep Eliott's gaze.
“Alright then. Fuck my grades, then,” he replied, earning an eruption of cheers from Yann, Arthur and Basile. Basile hugged him from the side while Yann reached over to punch him lightly in the leg and Arthur continued to shout, hands in the air.
But none of that mattered because currently, Eliott was fixing Lucas with the widest of smiles he had ever seen in his entire life. His eyes were almost shut, filled with mirth, a laugh dangling on his lips. What Lucas would do to make sure Eliott was always that happy…

Blameless? Shameless? More like Shiftless: Wrap-up
I grumbled and fumbled through the first book in the series Soulless or Brainless. I fumed and gloomed through the second book Changeless or Gormless.
Now we’re onto the last book of the (initial) trilogy Blameless or...how I originally wanted to riff it...
Tumblr media
But, I do not have riffs for you for this book.  Why?  I thought this series would end because I would run out of energy for it.  That’s not what happened...the true reason, is that this book is BY FAR the best out of the three, and that because of that most of my riffs aren’t very funny.  Despite that, I would not classify this book as GOOD by my standards. I think it’s barely mediocre and fixed a lot of problems the other books had.  So I feel as if I have to concede a bit here.
Instead of riffs, you’ll be getting a summary and my review so I feel as if I can tie this off with a nice little bow.
Summary:
Obvious spoilers ahead.
The world is steampunk supernatural Victorian England.  Vampires and Werewolves are real things, and there are also soulless.  Soulless are another set of supernaturals that can negate the powers of vampires and werewolves with touch.  Alexia is a soulless, and is married to an important werewolf Maccon.  Alexia becomes pregnant by Maccon, however werewolves are not supposed to be able to have children.  So Maccon is convinced she cheated and abandons her.
Alexia goes back to live with her family.  She discovers her one vampire friend has split town without warning, and that every other vampire is out to kill her for this pregnancy.  However she wants to prove that the child is Maccon, so she decides to go to Italy with her friends.  Italy is a country that’s run by religious zealots out to murder every single supernatural person and DESPITE THE OBVIOUS benefits a soulless could provide that organization they treat soulless people shitty too.  However, they suspect that with all the research they’ve done, they will have some information which can prove Alexia right. So Alexia travels to Italy with her dead dad’s stoic bodyguard Floote, and with a woman who has a crush on her named LeFoux.
Meanwhile her husband Maccon is being shitfaced and angsting a bunch about this.  His 2nd in command Lyall is taking care of all his duties.  Eventually Maccon sobers up and publishes a public apology for Alexia and claims that the baby is in fact his.  Also on this end it is discovered that Alexia’s vampire friend Akeldama had his boyfriend kidnapped.  So Maccon and Lyall manage to rescue the boyfriend, murdering the head vampire and being forced to change the boyfriend into a werewolf to save his life.
On the trip to Italy they battle a bunch of vampires and meet some allies.  When they get to Italy they’re captured by the religious Zealots known as the Templars.  When the Templars find out she’s with child they lock her in the dungeon.  However with the help of her friends and Maccon they rescue her.  Maccon and Alexia make up and happy end.
My review:
The story in itself…is simply not good.  I could list you plot holes by the dozen by neither of us has the patience for that I’m sure.  I think the sticking point for me is that their whole mission feels pretty pointless. They go through all this hassle getting to Italy (which honestly seemed like a super bad idea) while also being attacked by vampires the entire time and for what?  To find out that yes she could get pregnant from a werewolf?
….Don’t we already know that since she’s uhh pregnant from a werewolf?
The lore of this book is super bad.  All the major plot points hinge on nobody understanding anything about a rare but super fascinating and important race of people.  It feels as if the author doesn’t really care about her own lore, and makes everybody in her fictional world the same. Also it’s kinda hard for me to believe, that even if female soulless are super rare that literally in this world’s whole history a female soulless has become pregnant by a supernatural person twice.  TWICE! IN IT’S ENTIRE HISTORY! SEEMS LEGIT!
But there is a reason this is the best out of the three I swear!
I think the story starts off really strong with believable and easy-to-understand exposition that draws you in.  I legit read the first chapter of this book and was like, “WHAT THE FUCK, WE’RE A GOOD SERIES NOW!?!??!”
I think a large part of what makes it better for me is that they finally treat this series like an action/adventure.  There are lot of vampire battles, fighting weird technology, and dramatic escapes using wild steampunk vehicles.  We also have Maccon fighting werewolves and vampires, and dramatically saving a person from a glass bubble from the bottom of a river.
The steampunk technology used here is just straight up really lame and forced but I think that’s easily forgiven in a silly action adventure novel.
I think the POINT of books of this nature. Is the fun action!  We also pace this all together well.  We have suspense, breaks from the action, and it’s not all the same pow pow fight scene by a long shot.  I will say there isn’t a lot of suspense that she won’t be able to make it out alive. Nobody dies or even sustains any kind of serious injury.  The protagonists seem to fight as if they’re invincible, but oddly enough LeFoux spends a lot of the later scenes almost instantly getting knocked unconscious. Which I suppose is fine to up the ante of the tension but she’s the only one who gets that treatment and she gets it a lot…which is kind weird.
Speaking of LeFoux, I was really bummed about her and Alexia’s relationship in this book.  One of the few enjoyable things about the last book was the lesbian flirting and the unresolved sexual tension between LeFoux and Alexia.  Sure Alexia didn’t know lesbians were a THING but it was quite clear that Alexia was attracted to LeFoux.  In this book LeFoux continues to flirt with Alexia but Alexia treats it like a droll annoyance.  Quite frankly it doesn’t make any sense if you’ve read the last book.  Alexia is at her lowest point in her relationship to her shitty husband, there is mutual attraction, LeFoux treats her nicely and is very willing, they’re off on an exciting and at points romantic tour of France, Alexia is on the cusp of a huge life change without her family or her husband’s support, and LeFoux is raising a child too.  I get that Maccon/Alexia has got to be OTP and that you don’t want her to look like she would actually cheat since, cause she’s gotta be morally better than the negative reputation she’s getting in the press. Yet at no point is a relationship with LeFoux treated as even a temptation for her. There isn’t even like a sub plot where Alexia worries about hurting LeFoux’s feelings or clearly explains that they can’t be together.  LeFoux has no reaction when Alexia reconciles with her husband.  It’s not treated as fucking anything more than comedic swatting down of lesbian advances.  So honestly? That kinda made me angry.  Now Alexia did sexually assault LeFoux last book and totally doesn’t deserve her but to treat her now as they wacky queer who hits on your Mary-Sue so you remember your Mary-Sue is hot is utterly aggravating.
The story still has the major problem of being such a no bummers train that she won’t dare give LeFoux and Alexia a messy relationship.  It could have been so much more compelling ugh!  A part of me wonders if the author originally intended for the two to get together this novel since there was all that previous build up and the set up here makes it ideal.  Yet an editor said BIG NO to it, because apparently a hero cheating in a book is considered one of the most toxic of novel poisons.  OH WELL!
But a female/female relationship that is way better in this book?  That would be the friendship between Ivy and Alexia.   In the last book, Ivy was the stupid comic relief with romantic troubles.  Alexia spent the last book just being a condescending asshole to her.  Ivy never treated Alexia’s bullshit romantic troubles with anything other than support and respect but did not get the same in return.  They did not seem like friends.  Ivy was there to make Alexia look better and for a cheap laugh at Ivy’s expense even though she does nothing wrong. That was garbage.  In this book however Ivy trusts Alexia that she didn’t cheat, gives her all her love and support, gives her tea for her trip, and competently runs LeFoux’s hat shop while they’re both away.  In exchange Alexia appreciates what Ivy is doing and treats her like a smart person capable of doing difficult tasks.
I said it before and I’ll say it again.  Ivy is MVP of this series and you CAN’T CHANGE MY MIND!
But while we’re talking about relationships the crux of this series is Alexia and Maccon. I wonder if this is my favorite book of the series because they barely interact in person. The one time at the end where they reconcile was unbearable. Basically the just barely escape the dungeon and the entire crew is standing just outside it.  Alexia goes on a tirade about how much she hates Maccon but she’s very obviously pretending to be mad at him, and it’s the most pathetic scene in the series.  It was rushed and painfully awkward.  We just immediately forget about any possible danger and the other people there so Alexia can pointlessly pout while we all pretend its agency. (It’s not.) We also than very quickly transition them to a RANDOM barn so they can have sex, which is fade to black anyway.
I can’t help but view their reconciliation as a desperate woman who’s been through a lot, wants so badly for things to be less chaotic and familiar again that she capitulates to a shit boy garbage man.  She has many, many, many reasons to be properly mad at him. She is shunned by her family, loses her job, becomes a social outcast who can’t walk down the street without being harassed, and is the target of open and constant vampire hostility.  But he publishes a public apology and now they’re even.  The public apology is talked about as ~humiliating~ but he loses nothing for it. The series tries to sell us that they’re equals in this relationship cause they sass each other.  They are not equals in this relationship.  The series never seems to acknowledge that Alexia does like 90% of the work and gets way more shit than Maccon could ever dream of. Not that the series has to have a political message, it just seems so doped up by our shit heterosexual culture that it has no self-awareness.  I dislike Alexia for being a bad person, but Maccon is a worse person who doesn’t do anything good and lives a charmed life while his wife suffers quicker and more severely.  And what do we get out of it?  Dialog that can be boiled down to…
“Let’s have sex”
“No you’re a gross terrible very bad man!”
“Oh okay, I’ll go over here to contribute nothing and whine a lot.”
“I MEAN MAYBE IT WON’T BE SO BAD TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU???????????”
“…Is that a yes?”
“YOU VERY BAD MAN WHO IS GROSS AND TERRIBLE! I WILL NEVER HAVE SEX WITH YOU.............................................................
.............................................................….unless?”
I hate it very much.
So let’s talk other characters:
Floote is boring and pointless.
Tunstell shows up briefly to be comedic relief and really bad comedic relief at that.  He shows up in LeFoux’s lab and opens with him being very afraid of her wacky technology but then immediately starts sticking his fingers in dangerous stuff. Way to contradict your character in under a paragraph.
The way Channing was established last book, while making him look like a shitbird, gave him personality. In this book he’s there as a protective prop to make Maccon look marginally better. None of his personality comes out at all, and despite the last book showing him as a romantic rival there is 0 of that in this book.  I don’t think he has more than 3 lines of dialog.
LeFoux’s one friend was also pointless and personality-less to the point I can’t even be bother to look up his name.  He existed so they could dramatically borrow his flying contraption.
The villains of this series are two-fold:
We have the Templars who are religious zealots who want to kill all supernaturals and are disgusted by Alexia’s kind despite how useful she could be.  They were not good villains because they are utterly pathetic. They let Alexia and her friends have the run of the place.  While they can go outside the compound, once captured, they’re followed to make sure they return.  However, the author did not do an adequate job making that atmosphere…even stressful. The pack of them should be frightened by this.  They should be treading on eggshells because one wrong move and it’s an inquisition for them!  …No they zip around enjoying pesto and don’t seem to have a care in the world.
Even when the fight is brought to them?  They spend their whole lives training to kill supernaturals but when they get a chance to do so to protect Alexia they’re not very good at it.  3 podunk humans managed to evade capture by the entire vampire community as they trotted through Europe but zealots trained from birth to stake vampires fall left and right when they’re attacked by them?
OH YEAH, REALLY FEELING LIKE THEY’RE A LEGIT THREAT! THANKS FOR THAT!
Oh but don’t worry we have another villain to help balance things out!
We have Langs-Dorf or whatever the fuck his name is.  He is a heartless dude who researches soulless.  He basically wants to use her for experiments so he later teams up with the Templars and spills the beans that’s she’s preggorz.
He, like the Templars, are flaccid shit tier babies.  He’s the archetypal sniveling scientist, who can’t even outwit them.  He honestly doesn’t even really get much screen-time. I am not exaggerating when I say they dedicate more time to describing what his irritating dog gets up to than what he does.  They did that for comedic purposes, sure okay whatever.  But it’s not funny and the ankle attacking just highlights how harmless he is as well.
So Alexia’s pregnancy?
I mean, they do try to give her a character arc on how she feels about carrying a child.  It starts with her calling it an inconvenience and just assuming she’ll miscarry eventually.  Yet later is like, “Well I guess it’s okay if it lives.”  I’m glad they tried but they didn’t do a good job. Little time is dedicated to her personal feelings on the matter and her steps in pregnancy acceptance feel disjointed. It felt very much like,
Chapter 1:
This sucks.
Chapter 10:
Well I’m not morning sick today.
Chatper 20: I guess it’s okay.
I get we can’t talk about her wanting an abortion cause EVERYTHING IS GOOD TIMES but this no-bummers train cruising straight into never-frown-town we’re on here really stamps down her ability to have a MEANINGFUL arc not just on her role of her impending motherhood but like recognizing it’s going to be whole different human being.  ISN’T HER PREGNANCY SUPPOSED TO BE THE CORNERSTONE OF THIS WHOLE BOOK?!  Like at least 50 shades had Ana recognize her pregnancy as ANOTHER POTENTIAL PERSON and that she wanted to protect it even after her shitty husband lost his mind over it.
But I mean…for Alexia it’s at least in character cause she doesn’t give a shit about anything besides herself.  Alexia has not won me over as a relatable protagonist I want to root for.  She’s self-obsessed, and dumb.  Yet the whole world clamors about how great she is. She never has consequences tied to her negative choices or personality traits. She never gets in trouble for going into dangerous situations without planning.  Nor does she get in trouble for her lack of empathy, or belligerence. What she does get in trouble for is being born a soulless woman.  It feeds her smug martyr complex and overall is pretty fucking annoying.
TL;DR
Plot and characters? Bad
But this time the story has action, suspense, good pacing, and Ivy never did anything wrong. Good!

After Reading reply or send me who you think the person Simon should be worried about is.
Part One
One Year Ago
“I love you,” Funny how those three words don’t even feel the same lately.Another piece of jewelry or expensive ass item that I don’t need to apologize for him acting like an ass.None of it ever stops me from looking ‘crazy’ as he calls it.
A part of me knew what I was getting myself into when I started dating Kiseok but tell me is it wrong for me to want to know where my mans been at after he comes strolling in at six in the morning? When I know for a fact that he wasn’t in the studio like he said he was supposed to be? Does that make me crazy?
“It’s been three weeks, how much longer are you gonna shut me out? I know I messed up. I know I drank too much and I’m sorry just please let me back in.We can work through this. Why throw years down the drain? Just fight it.” He pleads.Being with someone for so long has both its advantages and disadvantages.Kiseok knows exactly how to get me.He knows I won’t give up on this without a fight just as he knows it’s because I love him.
He looks at me and I can see the corners of his mouth quirk up into a smile that he’s trying to hide because he knows he’s broken my resolve. He wraps his arms around me and rests his forehead against mine. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Hey Lexi,we’re all headed out to grab a bite. You coming?” That all too familiar accent speaks from the doorway of my studio.
“Nah,not tonight Rome. I think I’m just gonna finish this edit for Dabin head home.” I say to him.
“You know when I asked you to come work here after your contract ended,I did it because I thought I’d get to see more of my best friend but between that boyfriend of yours and you being couped up inside here I feel like you’re still an ESL teacher.” He pouts taking the seat next to me.
“You introduced me to said boyfriend though,”
“Nah,nah, nahhh, I introduced you to Gray who introduced you Jay who then introduced you to him. I know you’re a perfectionist but I’m also your best friend so I know when you’re stressing so just for tonight, take a break and forget about your worries.” He says while saving my work and shutting the monitors down.
“Fine but you’re paying for my food.” I give in. I knew he’d get Dabin and Scott to guilt trip me into leaving if he couldn’t so I’m just saving all of us.
Dinner went by smoothly and if I’m behind honest I’m a bit sad that its done. I was thankful that the guys didn’t push me to talk about my problems but instead helped me forget about them even just for a couple hours.
“You know I’m here if you wanna talk right?” He said as we walked down the hall to mine and Kiseok’s shared apartment.Kiseok wasn’t a big fan of Christian nor was Christian a big fan of his. I know they only tolerated each other because of me there were times when Kiseok would been rude for no reason and it often ended in us arguing.
“I know…but I just need to figure this out on my own. I promise that if it gets to the point where I can’t handle it you’re the first person I’ll tell. Now get home and get some rest, you guys are gonna kill at SXSW.Don’t forget to tell Mike that he has to get Lori tomorrow.” I say to him.
“I will,I will.Don’t forget that you’re picking us up from the airport on Thursday.” He says giving me a hug.Typing in the passcode I step inside and bid goodbye to Christian who turns and heads down the hall to the elevator.
“Well look who’s finally home.” I jump,my heart beating rapidly at the sound of his voice behind me.
“What the fuck Kiseok?”
“Where have you been?” He asks avoiding my question.
“Out.”
“Out? Is that all you have to say? I’ve been waiting at home for hours so that I could spend time with my woman but she’s not answering my calls or texts. I get on Instagram and she’s in some guys Live sitting all cuddled up next to a motherfucker that she knows I doesn’t like.” In all honesty I had put him on Do Not Disturb after the shit I’d found in his phone this morning. I didn’t want to deal with him.
“Now you wanna spend time with me? What your other bitch too busy tonight? So what I ignored your ass all day, don’t you think there’s a reason for that? Huh Kiseok, this hatred you have for Christian is fucking pointless because you knew he was a part of my life before I even met you.” My voice raised slightly as I placed my bag on the counter and headed towards the bedroom.
“What other bitch? How many times do I have to fucking apologize for that one time huh? I thought we were past that but clearly not if you’re out here acting like you’re single.” He shouts as he follows me. I slip out of my clothes and pick up a fresh set heading to the bathroom for a shower locking the door behind me.
Luck just wasn’t on my side because as soon as I exit the bathroom there’s his ass ready to start some drama.
“Now what other bitch do I have?”
“I’m not doing this with you tonight Kiseok.” I say dismissively, heading over to the dresser and  starting my nightly routine.
“Nah,we’re most definitely doing this tonight Alexia. You’re always accusing me of cheating when you’re slutting it up with that damn kangaroo you call your best friend. You don’t hear me accusing you of shit though.”
Did he just call me a slut? I know his highlighter yellow ass didn’t just call me out my name. “Did you just call me a slut?” I ask turning on the stool to face him.
“I didn’t but if it falls in your garden, plant it.” He shrugs, crossing his arms over his chest.Without thinking twice I launch the bottle of essence in my hand at him, hitting him on his chest.
“You’re calling me a slut when I’ve been nothing but loyal to your ass? Sitting around pretending to be blind and oblivious to the fact that you’re out here having me looking stupid. I know all about her Kiseok, just because I don’t tell you anything doesn’t mean that I don’t know and that “kangaroo” really isn’t the one you should be worried about. He dislikes you but unlike you he knows better.”
“How many times do I have to tell you that she’s just a fucking friend?” He shouts throwing his hands up in the air.
“Just a friend huh?” He nods. “Alright, cool.” Getting up, I make my way over to the bed and grabbing my pillow.
“Where are you going?” He asks holding onto my wrist as I try to walk past him.
“To bed. What does it look like?”
“The bed is in here-”
“Do you really think that just because I said alright cool that everything is all fine and dandy Simon? I just rather not argue pointlessly with you anymore. I’ve been sleeping next to a stranger for the past year and I can’t do it any more. I..I can’t do this anymore I pull my hand out of his grip and step back as he reaches out to me.
“Don’t call me Simon and are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“If the shoe fits, lace em up and wear them.” I exit the bed room and head towards the living with him hot on my trail.
"You aren't breaking up with me Alexia. You can't." He states.
"I can't? I just fucking did Kiseok. What's the point of this if you clearly don't feel the same way huh? Something obviously changed if I don't do it for you anymore.I took you back because I loved you, because I had hope that we could make it work but you still have no fucking chill.I'm not happy and it's taking everything in me not to break down but there's only so much that I can take.I've reached my breaking point,I can't do this anymore." Looking at the man before me,I couldn't tell you who he was even if I tried. He'd changed so much in the four years we'd been together that I didn't even recognize him any longer.
"You aren't breaking up with me.Yes I cheated but I come home to you every night, don't I?" I chuckle darkly at the stupid ass question that spills from his lips.Does this asshole really think that because he comes home to me that cheating is alright and that I'm just gonna let it slide? I really need to get out of this apartment before I say and do some shit that I regret.
Dropping the pillow back onto the bed,I grab a pair of jeans out the closet quickly changing into it.Pulling a duffle from the shelf I stuff articles of clothing into the bag not really paying attention to him.Grabbing the nearest pair of shoes,I slip those on and pick my phone up from the dresser and once again exit the bedroom with Kiseok following behind me talking about some bullshit.
"You walk out that door and I'll make sure you regret it Alexia." he says as I picked up my car keys.
"The only regret I have is staying with a man who wanted to have his cake and eat it too.A selfish asshole who couldn't return the love I gave to him but refused to let me go.Goodbye Simon."
I exit our once shared apartment and take the elevator down to carpark.I couldn't go to Christian with this,I refused to so I turned in the direction of the next best thing.
My fist rapped rapidly outside the apartment door.Jesus why didn't I call before coming. It was well after three in the morning and here I am partially soaked from the rain that had decided to start falling and fucking crying.Somewhere along the ride I ended up breaking down.
"Calm the fuck down,I'm coming.Damn!" his voice shouted aggressively from the other side before he pulled open the door."Dave I swear to god this is not what I fucking meant by bright and -" he stops short when he looks down and notices that I'm not who he thought I was.
"hey.." I smile wryly at him.
"what the fuck Lexi?!" he shouts taking in my appearance before dragging me into the apartment and slamming the door closed behind him.Words aren't exchanged as he pulled me down the hall towards his room.He takes my bag off my shoulders and begins pulling the wet pieces of clothing off my body.Slipping one of his t-shirts over my head,I slip my hands through the sleeves. He lifts his hands to my head and lets my hair out off the bun it was in.I couldn't look at him but he clearly wasn't having any of it as he lifted my chin and looked me in the eyes.
"I'm gonna fucking beat his ass," he grits out as he pulls my body into his chest.I couldn't help the fresh wave of tears that slip out.He told me from the start that I'd only get my heart broken by fucking with someone like him but I pushed it off as him being jealous that someone had stolen his wingman.I'd distanced myself from him but with him and Ian being somewhat friends I couldn't really ignore him and so we stayed friends. The first time Kiseok cheated,we argued because he had called it but what really put the nail in the coffin was the fact that I took him back.He didn't talk to me for months until he finally, somewhat let it go.
"He finally came clean huh?" he chuckles in that I told you so voice.
"I don't wanna talk about it.I really d-don't need to hear you say 'I told you so'," I mumble into his chest. His chest rumbles lightly in laughter as he lifts me up and places me on his bed before sliding in next to me.
"We don't have to talk about if you don't want to but I know you so I'll just sit right here.." he says and it really isn't long until I start spilling everything to him.
I awoke in an empty bed the following morning and even though I don't want to get up,I don't have a choice as I've got a meeting with Jay and Chase.I pull myself out of bed and make my way towards his bathroom and smile at the note stuck to the mirror.
'Seeing as this is the first place your ass goes to in the morning,I left it here. There's spare toothbrushes and towels,You know where to find them.I'm at the gym and you'll be gone by the time I'm done but good luck with your meeting today.Christian says to call him when you have time.'
Making a mental note to call him later I grab a towel and a toothbrush from the cupboard and get on with my morning routine.Changing into a pencil skirt and white dress shirt,I fix my hair with the limited resources that I have and slip into a pair of heels that I'd somehow left at his place.Seeing as I didn't grab much on my way out I pick up my phone from his charger and a protein bar from his kitchen along with my keys and head towards his front door where I spot his leather jacket on the hook.Looking back and forth between my outfit and the jacket I take it up and slip it on and exit his apartment.
Now I knew Kiseok could be petty but I honestly didn't think that he'd stoop this low."What the hell do you mean that you're dropping me from the project? We've been working on this for months Jay! Half of those beats are mine."
"Look I'm only half of the authority here okay,He says he doesn't want to work with you on the project anymore and after what I've heard quite honestly I wouldn't want to work with you right now either." Jay says with a slight attitude and I laugh.
"I get it now.I really do. Dicks before chicks right? You're just siding with your boy."
"Lexi,it's not like that," Chase chimes in but I raise my hand, stopping him from continuing.
"It's whatever. What's my buyout clause?" I ask pulling out my phone. If Kiseok wanted to be petty then I'd give his ass petty.
"Alexia,it's not that serious. It's one project." Jay says like it's the most normal thing to say in this situation.
"right now it's just one project, next thing you're telling me I can't put out music and then you're dropping me like a hot potato. Now what's the clause?" I ask him.
"2.5mil but that's besides the point.." he's cut off by the ping of his phone. If that's how they wanted to play then fine by me."Did you just buyout your contract?"
"I guess this meeting is over isn't it." I rise from my seat phone in hand and head to the door."I know that it probably doesn't mean shit but I was nothing but faithful to him but I understand that that's y'all brother and that y'all are just looking out for him but what you saw on the outside was nothing compared to shit I had to deal with.I keep my beats and y'all find him a new producer, thanks for the opportunity though."
Exiting the meeting room I walk right past him not sparing a second glance at him and head over to Hoody and Loco who we busy staring daggers into him.Hoody pulled me into a hug, telling me she was proud of me for stepping up even though he's her boss and brother.
"I'm not gonna see you anymore.." she pouts.
"Just because I won't be working here doesn't mean we can't hang out and chill. You guys know where to find me and as soon as I find an apartment we'll go shopping.I'm just a phone call away but I'll miss you guys." I smile at them.
"Since you're not dating hyung anymore….does this mean I finally have a chance?" Loco asks with a smile on his face causing Hoody and I to laugh at him.Bidding them goodbye,I leave and get into my car and head back to his apartment.
"So that's my jacket disappeared to." he speaks as soon as I close the door behind me.i smile sheepishly at him.
"It went with my outfit plus it was right there,I couldn't resist."
"Mhmm sure, now how'd it go?" he asks as I slip off my shoes before pulling me into his living room and down onto the couch next to him. Before I could start on the shit storm that the meeting turned out to be a knock sounded at his door.
"I'll get the door, you get the alcohol." I say and get up heading to the door and opening it only to stand frozen at the fucker on the other side.
"Lexi who's at the…door."

Lucas was laying with his back against Eliott’s chest, between his legs, while both of them sat backed up against a tree. The position shouldn’t have been comfortable at all, but Lucas didn’t care much as long as he was with Eliott. He’d quickly become fascinated with tracing the veins on Eliott’s hands and forearms as he had wished to do a few weeks before when the two of them were alone in his dormitory. He caught sight of Daphné and the girls walking across the lawn and called out to them.
“Hey Daphy!” She turned around, face going bright red when she noticed who was calling her attention. “Stalker!” he called, feeling Eliott’s chest rise and fall with laughter behind him. The girls changed their course and came to sit down by where Eliott and Lucas were already seated.
Lucas gave Daphné a pointed look which she returned with a widening of her eyes and a small shrug. “What? You guys are couple goals. How can I not capture that? Besides, you let Imane post that picture on Monday!”
“You could ask,” Lucas suggested, but truthfully he didn’t care all that much. Let the whole world see how in love he was with his beautiful boyfriend.
“All right,” Alexia cut in, “Do we all have your express permission to post pictures of the greatest couple in existence from now on, then?”
“Of course,” Eliott said without hesitation, humor in his voice. Lucas tipped his head back and gave Eliott a pouty face, which Eliott returned with a quick peck on his lips. Lucas’ face split into a wide grin, humming to ask for another kiss, forgetting they were in the middle of a conversation with five other people. Eliott obliged, of course, earning a chorus of sighs that ranged from exasperation from Imane to infatuation from Lucas himself. Lucas raised his eyebrows again, but Eliott just laughed and tilted his head forwards, returning Lucas’ attention to the girls.
Manon gave him a small self satisfied smile and Lucas narrowed his eyes at her. Shut up, he told her through his mind, hoping they’d mastered the sibling art of speaking without saying a word. She raised her eyebrows innocently like she had absolutely no idea why he was glaring at her.
Imane’s phone chimed and she looked down at it for a moment before rolling her eyes and lying back on the grass. She poked her head back up once she realized everyone was looking to her for an explanation. “All of your friends are here,” Alexia pointed out, and Imane swatted her with a grin as she sat back up.
“I’ll have you know I have quite a few muggle friends,” she argued, pointedly ignoring their disbelieving stares. “Regardless, that was just my stupid brother.”
Lucas felt Eliott tense slightly behind him, but Lucas continued tracing his veins, not wanting Eliott to think he’d noticed the shift. He knew Eliott needed time to open up now, and he wanted to make sure he was supportive without being overbearing.
“Oh yeah? What did he want?” Emma asked casually, peeling strands of grass from the ground and tying them together mindlessly.
Imane grimaced back at her phone. “He wants to visit this weekend, which would be fine if he wasn’t so annoying about it. He wants to know if there’s going to be a party and if he should invite his friends to come with.”
“Yes to both,” Emma answered without hesitation, turning to Daphné hopefully.
Daphné furrowed her brows. “Why are you looking at me?”
“Because you’re the only one who could throw a Beauxbatons worthy party,” Alexia said matter-of-factly.
Daphné looked a bit pleased, but she still argued. “That’s not true, that’s Eliott’s domain.”
Eliott’s muscles clenched, startled at being called out. Lucas shifted his position a bit to look up at Eliott, monitoring his face. It was far more closed off than usual. “Wrong again, I didn’t party much at Beauxbatons. This is more up your alley. Maybe you could turn it into a unity event,” Eliott suggested, lightness to his voice that sounded natural to everyone except Lucas and, from the looks of it, Imane. Daphné simply smiled at the praise.
“Well all right… but you have to tell Charles to spread the word,” Daphné pleaded, addressing Manon.
Manon laughed. “I’ll see what I can do,” she promised, “Is Sofiane coming?”
Imane’s eyes widened and she turned to Manon in alarm, eyes screaming for Manon to shut up. Alexia perked up. “Sofiane?”
“Is he the one who’s always all over your Instagram?” Emma asked Imane excitedly. Imane didn’t deign to respond, but her silence was answer enough. Alexia and Emma exchanged a glance, small smiles forming.
“Yes, he’s coming,” Imane relented at last. The girls squealed around her as Imane rolled her eyes once more. “If you all don’t shut up I’m hexing you and disinviting you to the party.”
“Can’t do that, it’s my party now,” Daphné said in a sing-song voice. Imane laughed quietly, not bothering to argue further. If Sofiane was who Lucas thought he was, Eliott knew him too. The way Sofiane acted on Eliott’s Instagram made it seem like they were friends as well, but Eliott’s silence was thick in the air around them.
Lucas noticed Imane and Eliott exchange a glance, her face worried, and he began to wonder if she knew something he didn’t. He decided not to bring up the subject now, but he would have to get some answers before the weekend, especially if they were all going to be hanging out.
“Come on girls, let’s leave these two lovebirds alone,” Imane said suddenly, standing up and beckoning the others to follow.
“But we just got here,” Daphné whined. Imane didn’t relent, locking her in with an unamused stare. “Ugh, fine,” Daphné agreed, standing with the others. Imane hung back a moment as the rest of the girls started to walk away, turning to Eliott.
“Idriss said he’s excited to see you,” she said.
Eliott’s voice was cold and mechanical. “I don’t know if I’ll see him. I have something else going on this weekend.”
“You do?” Lucas asked, turning his head up in confusion. Eliott softened slightly when he looked down at Lucas.
“Yes,” he said, “It was supposed to be a surprise, though.”
Lucas’ heart warmed at the thought of Eliott planning a surprise for him. There were definite limits to what they could do while they were at school, but it was nice to know that Eliott cared enough to do something like that for him. Truthfully, he wouldn’t have minded going to whatever party Daphné was going to plan, but a surprise from Eliott topped that any day.
“Lucille’s coming, too,” Imane added hesitantly. Eliott merely nodded.
“Cool,” he said.
Imane narrowed her eyes. “Cool?”
“Yup. I still have plans.”
She sighed. “Ok, let me know if plans change, I’m sure Idriss and Sofiane would want to catch up if you have time.” Waving goodbye to Lucas, she set off back for the castle, hurrying to catch up to where the other girls were laughing together on their way inside.
Lucas turned around fully, leveling Eliott with a stare that he knew his boyfriend couldn’t resist. Eliott positioned them so their legs were wrapped over and under one another, still leaning back against the tree while Lucas leaned back to rest his hands on the ground, not tearing his gaze away from Eliott even for a moment.
Eliott sighed. “Just say what you have to say.”
“You’re planning me a surprise?” Lucas asked, surprising both himself and Eliott. He couldn’t bring himself to ask the questions he really wanted to ask. Eliott’s demeanor changed immediately, relaxing back into himself, vibrant grin returning in full force.
“I am,” he confirmed.
“Can I have a hint?”
Eliott looked at him like he had just asked Eliott to tap dance naked at the top of the Astronomy tower. “Where’s the fun in that?”
“Surprises stress me out,” Lucas whined, not caring that he sounded a bit like Daphné.
Eliott laughed softly at him. “Your hint is that you’ll love it.”
“That’s not even a hint!”
“That’s the most I’ll give you.” Eliott leaned forward and took Lucas’ face into his hands, pressing a gentile kiss to his lips. “I promise you’ll love it.”
“I’d better,” Lucas said stubbornly, Eliott leaning in again to shut him up with another kiss. One thought was floating around in his mind that he couldn’t ignore. He debated the best way to ask without scaring Eliott away. “Lucille isn’t your ex-girlfriend, is she?”
Eliott blinked in surprise at the question before hunching over in laughter. Ok, that was a promising reaction. When Eliott came back to himself he nodded seriously. “Yes.”
Now it was Lucas’ turn to blink in surprise, but Eliott laughed again. “When we were twelve,” he continued, “I think we might have gotten married, but I don’t think it was legally binding.”
Lucas rolled his eyes, anxiety evaporating from his body. “Shut up,” he said lovingly. “You don’t want to see her?”
“We grew apart,” Eliott said with a slight frown.
“The same way you and Idriss did?” Lucas asked before he could stop himself.
Eliott shook his head. “Not quite. Lucille still tries to talk to me from time to time, but she’s less of a friend than a second mom now. I don’t need that.”
“So I don’t have to worry about her trying to steal you away from me?” Lucas asked, pretending he was joking, not wanting Eliott to know the genuine fear the question had stemmed from.
Eliott pulled Lucas’ face to his so their foreheads were touching, gazes locked on one another, unwavering. “No one could ever steal me away from you. I promise. I’m yours for however long you’ll have me.”
“How about forever?” The words were out before he could stop them. Something shifted in Eliott’s gaze, like he wanted to flinch away but couldn’t bring himself to. Lucas didn’t know if he should be worried about it or not. Forever was a lot to ask, after all.
“Forever is fleeting.”
Lucas laughed, not daring to look away. “No it’s not. Forever is forever.”
Eliott seemed to consider this a moment. “In all the universes?”
“Yes.”
Eliott smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. It was almost as if there were thoughts weighing as heavily on his mind as on Lucas’. Lucas didn’t want to interrupt if Eliott wanted to say something, so he tried to convey with his eyes that Eliott could say anything he wanted.
“Lucas…” Eliott began, voice low and rough. He blinked, gaze straying from Lucas’ eyes before finding them again. “I have to tell you something.”
Lucas tried not to react, stomach feeling like it had dropped to his feet. “Ok.”
“I--” Eliott cut himself off, running his teeth across his bottom lip, looking about as nervous as Lucas felt. What did he have to be so afraid of? I’m always afraid, Eliott’s voice told him in his mind, But never with you. But they were together right now, weren’t they? Eliott looked terrified.
“Hey, are you all right?” Lucas asked in a soft voice, not wanting to disturb Eliott’s thoughts, but also wanting to make sure he shouldn’t be afraid. Eliott closed his eyes a moment, breathing in through his nose, out through his mouth. When he opened his eyes he looked like he’d resigned himself to something, though Lucas didn’t know what it could be. When he spoke, his words came completely out of nowhere.
“What are Lucas and Eliott number two thousand twenty-seven doing right now? What have they done since we left them?” Lucas was a bit put off by the abrupt subject change, noting how Eliott never really answered him, but trying not to focus too much on something that probably meant nothing. Eliott would tell him whatever he had been trying to say eventually.
He decided to play along, pretending to consider. “Hmmmmm…”
What were muggle Lucas and Eliott up to? After their own conversation about parallel universes, Lucas had probably been ready to jump into a full relationship with Eliott, but there was still Eliott’s girlfriend to consider, of course. Lucille, he decided, was Eliott’s girlfriend.
Eliott snorted. “Really?”
“Shhh, my story.”
This Lucas was a bit scared, more so than Lucas number one, and, while he wanted to be with Eliott, he wasn’t quite sure how to do that. There had been a bit of miscommunication and, before Lucas knew it, Eliott was back kissing his girlfriend at a party while Lucas watched on, heartbroken.
Eliott pulled his forehead away. “That’s just unrealistic.”
“Maybe not in this universe! In another one I’m sure that I did something equally dickish, don’t worry,” Lucas reassured him, pulling his face back in. Eliott sighed dramatically but allowed Lucas to continue.
Naturally, Lucas two thousand twenty-seven was a bit-- ok, a lot-- pissed about this, so he retreated back into his shell, ignoring anyone who tried to help or care for him. When Eliott approached him at school one day, he made a snide comment and then ignored him, trying not to cry. By the end of that week, Lucas was so overtired and drained emotionally that he went to see the school doctor, who, after giving him weird and unhelpful advice, told him to find someone he trusted to confide in. Obviously, he went to Yann.
“Ooh, what if the conversation didn’t go the way Lucas expected, and Yann walked away,” Eliott cut in.
Lucas wrinkled his eyebrows. “That’s not-- this isn’t a tv show or something!”
“Oh, so I’m a player who cheats on you and my imaginary girlfriend simultaneously, but Yann walking away is going too far.”
“I didn’t say you were a player. I’m sure you had your reasons… besides, Yann would never leave me high and dry like that,” Lucas rebutted.
Eliott insisted, “No. If I have to be a dick, so does Yann.”
“You’re not a dick! Listen, there’s got to be drama somehow, right?”
“That’s my final offer.”
Lucas rolled his eyes and gave Eliott a quick kiss. “Fine.”
Yann number two thousand twenty-seven walked away when Lucas came out to him, but not for the reason Lucas originally thought. Of course, Lucas didn’t realize that at the time, thinking his friend abandoned him, and he cried and cried about it, finally confiding in Manon and maybe Mika, or something. Maybe they lived together, away from their parents. They gave him the confidence he needed to head back to school with his head held high. Arthur and Basile were unsubtle idiots about it all at first, but Lucas appreciated their efforts. When he saw Yann, Yann explained that he’d left because he felt like he’d been the last to know, realizing he hadn’t been the best friend if Lucas thought he would react poorly. They made up quickly, promising to tell each other when they were going through shit. Later that week, Daphné would rope Lucas into painting a mural for some school project, and he would be too weak to say no to her.
“Some things stay the same in every universe,” he explained as Eliott laughed, “Daphné is not someone to say no to.”
All the while Eliott had been leaving drawings for Lucas, showing him in small ways that he was still there, that he cared, but Lucas was reluctant to believe it. Finally, while Lucas was preparing to paint with the boys, they advised him to reach out, see if Eliott was serious. Eliott asked to talk, and Lucas tried to play it cool, saying what he was doing, wishing Eliott would call but not wanting to ask. To his surprise, Eliott would show up to where he was and the boys would have to leave before Eliott got there so the two of them could be alone. One apology and paint fight later, they would make art of their bodies and the mural, getting closer than they ever had before.
“Glad to know we’re just as classy in this universe,” Eliott grinned as Lucas finished. “What else?”
“Well, that’s it. For now,” Lucas shrugged. Eliott hummed, pressing their lips together without fully kissing.
“I guess I’ll accept it. I expect more this weekend, though. It can be your surprise to me.”
“Deal,” Lucas agreed, turning the brushing of their mouths as the spoke into something more. They broke apart after a moment, remembering where they were, that everyone could see them if they were looking. “We should go to dinner.”
“We should.”
Neither one of them moved, laughing softly with their heads still pressed together. After a long moment, Lucas started shifting his legs, stretching them out before he stood up, holding out a hand for Eliott to grab and lift himself up.
“Lucas?” Eliott asked hesitantly, fingers brushing Lucas’ palm. Lucas raised his eyebrows as a signal that he was listening. When Eliott spoke again Lucas could tell he was speaking French, but he was speaking so quietly that Lucas couldn’t make out the words.
“What?” he asked, looking for clarification.
Eliott took a deep breath before meeting Lucas’ eyes. “Je t’aime.”
The world stopped. In this universe and all the others, Lucas Lallement lost his breath, heart stopping in his chest before beating so hard it nearly burst through his ribcage. Eliott’s face turned reluctant and Lucas realized he must have been sitting there with a shell-shocked expression on his face. So this must have been what he wanted to say before, just hadn’t worked up the nerve. Lucas nearly kicked himself for not realizing, for not saying the words of his heart earlier as well. Je t’aime. I love you. Lucas loved Eliott too, more than he could ever express, but he still had to try. Taking a deep breath of his own, Lucas bared his soul to Eliott once more.
“Moi aussi.”

Gormless Ch. 10 –  Vampires are looking for shitty tattoo ideas
A well-meaning friend gave me a book series that is hilariously bad. The first book was Souless and my riffs were entitled brainless. This second book is entitled Changless and these riff are then gormless.
I mean to say I have entitled them gormless! Not that my riffs are dumb, and the effort I spend on them stupid since I’m the only one who enjoys them. HAHA!
The story is SUPPOSED TO be about how a badass lady wearing a rad-looking carriage dress hits baddies with her umbrella and bangs her hot werewolf husband.  In reality it’s mostly poor attempts at being witty, flirty, and superior.
For the last book check out the brainless tag.
If you want the TL;DR version but want to read these new riffs anyway?
This story is set in supernatural Victorian steampunk England.  Alexia is our NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS protag.  She is a soulless, which means she’s able to negate the abilities of vampires and werewolves by touching them. She’s recently married a big oaf, named Lord Connel Maccon.  He’s the manchild in charge of the supernatural police with a zillion dollars and he’s totes super hot too ok.  Their relationship is mostly arguments about how Maccon can’t tell her fucking anything.  Alexia has also recently become head of ~Soulless affairs~ in Queen Victoria’s government.  She has a dumb friend named Ivy, a gay vampire friend named Akeldama, a family who’s evil because they do the same shit as her but while being blonde, and most importantly Alexia is better than everyone cause…cause.
Tumblr media
Last time on Gormless:
There’s some mysterious force that’s turning the Vampires and werewolves into humans. Alexia is in charge of figuring out that deal, and she is doing a bad job at it.  They are at her husband’s old pack castle about it.  Are they hiding something?????
Chapter 10 –  Vampires are looking for shitty tattoo ideas
So this chapter opens up with Lyall, Channing, and Biffy (Akeldama’s human young servant boyfriend.) It’s not problematic if it’s gay!  They have discovered that the Westminster hive of Vampires has been SNOOPING around for MYSTERIOUS objects.
(This hive was mentioned last book and while FRAMED like baddies they literally did nothing actually wrong.  In fact it’s implied they helped the less fortunate.)
Those three are on a stakeout, watching a nameless dude pretend to have MYSTERIOUS objects for the Westminster hive.  The hive representative smacks the nameless dude for not having the goods a fight almost breaks out but doesn’t.  Nameless dude relates that the vamp bro told him they were specifically looking for artifacts that have a broken ankh symbol.
Not sure why he just offers that information so easily despite how secretive they’ve been.
Is the random vampire hive causing the humanization phenomena, in order to fuck over the werewolves.  But if the vampires and werewolves clash while humanized, the werewolves have the clear advantage since they’re the military?  Are they working on a thing where just werewolves are humanized? There has been no implications that werewolves and vampires aren’t good buds.
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT, THERE’S ONLY 3 CHAPTERS LEFT IN THIS BOOK AFTER THIS AND YOU’RE JUST MUDDLING IT MORE! FUCK!
Nothing else happens for the rest of the chapter to put it bluntly. On one hand, sure a bunch of shit happened last chapter…but also like WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BE HAVING A CLIMAX YES? ARE WE GOING TO BUILD TO THAT? NO? OKAY?
Alexia stops by to see LeFoux fix the aethnographer and they send a message to Akeldama. And like dang if I wanted to read 10 pages on a big tedious machine I’d put a pen and paper in my dishwasher to have it write it’s autobiography. But I mean, this could have easily been a scene of more LeFoux/Alexia sexual tension or (since the story is wrapping up) a moment where she can resolve their relationship, or question LeFoux on her relationship to Angelique, or her Octopus Tattoo. Instead it’s a series of tepid jokes about a no-name Claviger being annoyed at Alexia’s antics.
OH BY THE WAY! Last chapter we end with Maccon explaining how nobody wanted to be Clavigers to his old pack since they can’t REWARD any of these people with the gift of werewolfism. Yet this chapter they mention 3 separate Clavigers.  Are they rewarding them with money instead of indentured servitude or did the author FUCKING FORGET?
There is a little slice at the end where Alexia shrieks over a cockroach but dun dun dun that cockroach was DIFFERENT.  But wow does the author not care about that cause we immediately go back to what the rest of the chapter basically is.
By that I mean the OH SO DELIGHTFUL Alexia and Maccon flirt-fighting.  Alexia does this irritating thing where she is obviously super horny but like doesn’t want to give her partner the satisfaction of being horny FOR HIM. It’s basically a big, “WE’RE NOT GOING TO HAVE SEX YOU BIG MONGREL…..or are we? teehee.”  And, as someone who’s resentfully attracted to men, I kinda understand it.  But part of growing up is that you mature past feeling like sex is MEN WINNING and WOMEN LOOSING.
So faps, do you hate this because it caters to an old version of you that you hate, even though teen girls go through a lot of shit and should be able to enjoy frivolous bullshit like these books?
Or
Do you hate how it excuses the negative bullshit of female teenagehood and should instead be giving tougher, positive messages about loving yourself, loving others, and not letting society’s horseshit influence how you do the previous two?
Or
THIS BOOK ISN’T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE FOR TEENAGERS!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Say something nice Faps:
I understand and on some level appreciate the shit made for teen girls.  I just wish they gave them better lessons sometimes
