14 | Break The Rules

Series: A Zombie's Serenity

Paring: Zed Necrodopolis x OFC Buchanan!

The night of Prawn, Zed and I were hanging out at his place. "What you thinking about?" Zed asks as she stares off into the distance.

"The werewolves. I feel bad for them." She looks over at him.

"Come on." Zed gets up from the steps putting his hand out to her.

"Where we going?" Serenity asks confused.

"Go pay the wolves a visit." He pulls her who and they make their way to the Wolf Den.

"Why are we going to see them?" She asks as they walk hand in hand.

"You'll understand in a minute." He smiles down at met.

"Fine." She doesn't try to get anything out of him.

When the two get to the den many of the wolves were coughing and not looking too well. The two walk up to Willa and Wyatt look at them, "They were wrong to destroy Seabrook power, and I was wrong about werewolves. You have every right to fight for who you are." Zed tells the two while Serenity watches and listens to the conversation.

"Yeah, but what are we now, zombie?" Wyatt asks him.

"You're fierce, proud werewolves." Zed tells them.

"Yeah, they think we're monsters." Willa tells him.

Zed glances down at Serenity looking at him so he looks back at Willa and Wyatt, "We are monsters." He smiles at them so they look at each other confused.

"You have any nice dresses at home?" Zed asks Serenity.

"My mom bought a dress for Prawn last year so yes, I have a dress." She laughs.

"I think we have a dance to crash." Zed makes everyone smile.

"So we'll all meet up when we're ready?" Serenity says and everyone agrees.

"I'm taking you to Prawn." Zed picks Serenity up as they make it out of the den.

"I'll meet you with everyone when I'm ready." She tells him as they speed walk back home.

"Meet me? I'm picking up my date." He kisses the top of her head as they split ways.

"Mom! I need my dress for Prawn!" I rush into the house scaring my parents.

"You're going alone?" She gets up.

"No, I'm going with Zed and the other zombies and werewolves. They're gonna break the rules because it's a bad rule." I explain to her.

"Well, we need to get you ready quickly. Also this is a new dress just incase you wanted to go." She laughs as we go up the stairs.

"It's not the pink dress anymore?" I ask.

"You'll see." She giggles rushing to her closet.

"When did you get this?" I ask sitting in the bed.

"Yesterday when you were at school. I went out of town to get this." She smiles back at me.

"Are you serious?" I laugh.

"Yes. What do you think?" She shows me the dress smiling.

"The totally opposite of that bubble gum pink dress. I like this one so much better." I stand up taking it from her. It doesn't take us too long to get ready because we worked fast together.

The door bell rings as we walk down the stairs so I could leave. "I'm guessing that's your date." Mom smiles as dad gets the door.

"Zed." My dad opens the door letting him in.

He looks at me smiling as I join his side, "What do you think?" I mess with my dress.

"I like it. We match." He chuckles.

"That was my goal." My mom smiles at us, "Let me take a picture real quick." She pulls out her phone.

Zed stands behind me wrapping his arms around my shoulders so I hold on to them as we smile for her. He then kissed the side of my head making me giggle so my mom takes a second photo. "Okay, we have to meet everyone else." I grab Zed's hand pulling him out of the house.

"Have fun!" My mom shouts as we rush to meet the others.

When we all met up Eliza loved my dressed and was proud of my mom for picking something that gave off zombie vibes. We all walk to the school together and when we get there Bucky was not glad to see all of us. "You guys can't be here. There are laws against this. Serenity, you know better and what are you wearing?" He eyes me.

"Mom bought it for me. Plus Zombies and werewolves are a part of Seabrook and they deserve to be here like us." I smile at him.

"Plus bad laws are meant to be broken." Zed tells him.

"And monsters don't follow the rules." Eliza adds and I high five her.

"Like Serenity said we weren't apart of Seabrook too. The Originals, in fact." Wyatt tells him making me smirk at Bucky.

Bucky looks back at the Z Alert, "Someone's gotta stop you." He goes after it so Willa steps up snarling at him which scares him, "Welcome to Prawn." He walks inside making me laugh. Willa starts to cough so I make sure she's okay before we all go in.

Addison looks over at us so we look at each other, "We both know we need to apologize to her." He tells me making me huff.

"Why do I need to? You're the one who needs to. You stole the necklace not me. I just let my feelings be known." I explain to him as she walks over to us.

"Serenity, I'm sorry for how I reacted. I was just upset with Zed and you were just letting me know how you feel. I hate when we ignore each other." She tells me.

"I'm sorry if I was too harsh letting my feeling out." I apologize anyways.

"Can we hug it out?" She asks so I chuckle giving her a hug.

"And I had no right to take your necklace to stop you from because werewolf. I couldn't handle the fact that you and or Serenity might be a monster. Cause I couldn't accept the fact that I am one, but after many speeches from Serenity, I finally can accept who I am." He takes my hand into his.

"I would've thought everything would makes things easier if we were a werewolf but we're not. And I don't even know if I'm a cheerleader." She tells him and me.

"You're a leader, Addison. You make others belong." I tell her.

"At camp, at cheer. You're the one protesting for what's right." Zed tells her.

"I have Serenity to thank for that." She smiles at me.

"You're welcome." I laugh as she pulls both of us in for a hug.

As the three of us hug a rumbling starts making people panic, "This way." Zed grabs my hand so I grab Addison to follow. While running in the school hallway the floor falls apart to show a glowing light. "The energy from the moonstone must've created the fault line. If we follow this crack, it may lead us to the moonstone." Zed tells the wolves.

"So it's only buried and not destroyed." Addison tries looking down in the hole. The wolves rush down it to go find the moonstone while we stay up for awhile before going to join them incase they need help. They did need help so we all lift the moonstone but we get blocked in.

"Your Z-band, it's still broken. Zed, take it off. Lift the slab. Okay, Zed, you can do this." Eliza tells him.

"I'm not ready. What if I can't control it?" He tells her.

"Zed, yes you can. You've taken control before. Remember your Serenity." I make him look at me then everyone else before taking his z-band off and zombies out. "Now lift the slab please." I pat his arm and he goes to it lifting it up for us to carry it out. We we get it out the slab slams shuts and all we could see was the dust from it. "Zed!" I panic till I see the light from his z-band light up green and he walks towards us. "Don't make me worry like that! Speak next time." I wrap my arms at him.

"I'm sorry." He kisses the side of my head holding me.

"We crushed it! We nailed it! We so rock! Yes!" Wynter cheers. "Too much?" She asks as we look at her.

"Perfect." Willa tells her. "We did it." Willa smiles at us.

"Say brains." Eliza points her tablet at us so we say brains. The wolves start to howls so we all join before going back up to the dance.

"We are all different, baby. But that's what I like. We're separate, but we're together. Like stars in the sky. We got a good thing going on. Yeah, nobody has to feel alone. Oh, yeah." I link my arm with Zed's.

"One for all, used to be divided." Zed smiles at Addison.

"One for all, now we're all united." She smiles back walking around me.

"One for all, this party ain't private." Wyatt gives Zed a handshake.

"One for all, everyone's invited." Willa adds.

"One for all, no wristband required." Eliza joins us.

"One for all, get hype, get excited." Willa puts a moonstone necklace on Addison than me.

"There's something here that's magic. Let's dance until dawn: The feeling is automatic. It's where we belong. We're so unique, we're not the same. Yeah, and that's what gives us all our strength." Zed looks at all of us as we group up then Bucky gives Addison a cheer captain jacket.

"We about to bring it on-on. Watch me shake it like a pom-pom. Yeah, shake it, shake it, shake it. Shake it, shake it, shake it like a pom-pom." Addison leads the dance.

"Yeah, get sick, get ill. Lean back with the zombie tilt. Ayy, with a zombie tilt. Yeah, with a zombie tilt." Zed takes over.

"Uh, new kids on a new blockz Werewolves do the moonwalk. Do the moonwalk. Do the moonwalk." Willa then goes before we all take the party to the wolf den to put the moonstone there.

"Who wants pizza?!" Zevon brings the boxes in making people rush to him and coach brought his fro-yo cart.

"You want pizza or fro-yo?" Zed spins me around.

"Pizza. Plus coach's cart doesn't have your vanilla." I laugh as we dance over to his dad to eat some pizza. "I knew you could control yourself." I smile as we sit down together.

"Well I thought of my serenity." He leans closer to me till our lips meet and wolves start to howl and people cheer starling us but make us laugh.

"It's not even our first kiss." I laugh.

"It's our first to we're others are around." He starts to eat his pizza.

"I kissed you in a busy hall before the debate."

my sister and I just watched all the zombies movies for the first time. And I’m kind of annoyed with how much I genuinely liked them

Big (and I mean huge there’s a lot so you have been warned) ramble about why the movies are actually really good under the keep reading thing (what are you actually supposed to call that? The banner? Idk). Spoiler warning!

First I’m gonna say the things I didn’t like about the movies

-So it’s about zombies (well, it is at first), and zombies have pale skin. The problem with that is black zombies have quite a bit of whitewashing which isn’t good.

-There’s also quite a lack of (canon) queer characters and relationships in the first two movies, but then when it comes to the third one, it’s actually pretty good. (I’ll go more in depth on this later)

-And naturally there were the flaws of DCOMs, like awkward dialogue that doesn’t feel like how real people speak, plot lines going pretty fast, relationships developing weirdly quickly, talking into the camera, all those kinds of things. But honestly… okay, quick disclaimer, I am a huge lover of the hsm and descendants movies. But… I think… zombiesmightbemyfavouritedcomfranchise. I still love the others, but in terms of development of characters and relationships, and representation, this one was probably the best. (I’ll also touch on this more in-depth later)

-There was this one moment in the first movie where it seemed like Bucky was getting a redemption and becoming a good person! But then suddenly he was bad again. And then at the end of the movie it seemed like he was getting a redemption again! But then in the next movie he was horrible again. But then at the end of the movie it kinda felt like he was slightly redeemed! But then in the next one he was even worse. So they could’ve tried to develop his character further and not scrap the redemption each time, but it’s fine because every other character gets so much development it’s crazy

-It’s a little inaccurate at times? Like I’m pretty sure werewolves wouldn’t actually look/act the way they do, but then again there’s so many different myths of werewolves so it doesn’t really matter. And there’s almost no way aliens would speak English or be even vaguely humanoid, but then again we literally don’t know cos we’ve never experienced aliens before

-And the last thing I didn’t like about the movies was Bucky.

OKAY ONTO THE GOOD THINGS

1- Bonzo.

2- I love the concept so much, because people would absolutely be racist and horrible towards zombies and werewolves and aliens if we discovered they were real.

3- The entire series is a social commentary and I’m living for it. Like, each group represents a different minority. Zombies are representative of African Americans, especially when it comes to the segregation; stores only allowing humans to buy from them; zombies only recently being allowed to go to school with humans and previously they had specific schools for zombies and specific schools for humans; there being different sides of the city where zombies aren’t allowed on one side for the humans’ safety, humans aren’t allowed on the other side also for the humans’ safety; even calling zombies monsters even though they’re very stable-minded people (because of the Z-band, but also after a bit they can control their zombie urges and they’re stable-minded without the z-band too). I just really feel like the entire thing is super representative of American history (well, what I know of American history as a non-American. If anyone who knows more than me can expand on this, that would be great!) And then the werewolves literally describe themselves as the original owners of the land, meaning they’re both literally and metaphorically the First Nations peoples. I’m gonna take this from the Australian side of things, because that’s what I’m more familiar with. Both the humans and the zombies feared the werewolves without reason. They called them savage, bloodthirsty, unpredictable. In terms of Australian history, that fits perfectly. If you’re unfamiliar, I’m gonna give you a bit of a history lesson (and I will talk a lot, I’m really passionate about this and I also did a whole unit on this last term so it’s all fresh in my mind). White Australians treated Indigenous Australians horribly. There was a plan for a while, literally called White Australia, where the white people were determined to “breed out the black”, which is when the stolen generation happened. First Nations boys were taken from their homes to go to boarding schools and learn Christian values. First Nations girls were taken from their homes and forced to marry and have children with a white man. If they kept going for enough generations, there would only be white people left. It started in the mid-1800s, but didn’t end until the 1970s. That’s only 50 years ago. And throughout it, none of them were allowed to practice their culture and traditions, they couldn’t be on their own land, on their country, they couldn’t even speak their own languages. We went from over 250 individual languages, not even including all the different dialects, and now we’re down to about 100-150, but most of those are near extinction. Most languages there’s only a few words that they know for sure. And because of all that, today we still have repercussions of it. So many First Nations peoples have no idea what their traditions are, they don’t know the name of their country, they don’t know their language, they don’t know who their elders are. Which I think reflects the werewolves, getting sick and losing their power because the humans took away their power source. And that leaves the aliens, who represent neurodivergent people, particularly autism. They’d never experienced emotions before, they’re excluded because they act strangely or talk strangely, they’re unfamiliar with humans and their human ways because they’ve never experienced humans and never been taught how to “act human”. And there’s so much more I could talk about with all of these things, but I don’t want to bore you.

4- The relationships?? Are actually?? Good???? Like, Addison and Zed met in the sweetest way, and I’m not usually one for “love at first sight” and it seems like that’s what they were pushing for these two, but the development of their relationship? I’m shocked. In a good way. They have issues and problems, mostly due to miscommunication. But then they clear those problems up so well and act in a way that’s so mature it’s astounding. Addison doesn’t answer Zed’s letters because the Aceys were shredding them all and making pom-poms out of them? Addison explains it and Zed takes the explanation and doesn’t make it a big thing. A werewolf is flirting with Addison and Zed gets really jealous? They both dramatically sing a song and Zed realises he was being close-minded and mean and making Addison feel alone, and wants to apologise. Then he thinks Addison has been kidnapped so he tries to rescue her and thereby offends the werewolves and Addison. And then a rift appears because Zed takes the necklace and doesn’t want Addison to leave him and become a werewolf. But it’s fine, because Zed not only owns up to it, but also after thinking about his actions, he apologises sincerely and says he had no right to do that. And he literally could’ve said he just found it rather than took it, they all literally think he found it at first. But no, he tells the truth. And honestly, that takes real strength. The next movie, someone who has never felt emotion before has romantic interest in Zed? Addison tries to explain in a super respectful way and doesn’t get mad, even when they still don’t understand. Addison is the aliens’ map so she has to leave with them, but Zed doesn’t want that? He accepts it anyway, because he can see it’s important to her. They’re sad but they part ways and I’m crying. And then they realise Utopia was Seabrook and they come back and everyone’s happy and I’m still crying Bonzo and Bree? Absolute. Goals. You’d think they’d have communication issues because Bonzo doesn’t speak English, right? Nope. They’re flipping perfect. Bree learns to understand Zombie so that she knows what he’s saying to her, Bonzo is so pure and sweet and wholesome and- you know what, actually:

5- expanding on my first point: Bonzo. He’s perfect. He supports his friends, he’s wholesome, he just wants a hug. He can write in both English and Zombie, he understands both English and Zombie, he speaks Zombie, is super good with Werewolf, and probably could speak some level of English but he doesn’t want to. When he makes signs, he does them in both English and Zombie, so that everyone can read it. Like, when he’s wearing the sign things for Zed’s presidency, he has one side in English that says “Zed for president”, and the other side is in Zombie. He’s one of the tallest and strongest people, yet he doesn’t do the sporty things and something about that feels so refreshing. He does cheer and band and dj-ing and probably other things, but he doesn’t do… uh, the sport in the movie. Football? Rugby? The- the game with the ball. (Clearly, I know sports)

6- The soundtracks are so stinking good, especially the second and third ones like wow. Just- the MUSIC and the SINGING and the EFFECTS and the MELODIES and the HARMONIES and the DOPAMINE It brings me joy. But seriously, whenever I watch a new movie, I always go through and listen to the soundtrack (whether it’s a musical movie or not), and press the little heart on the ones that I really like, and for all three, there were only 11 I didn’t like as much as the rest. And 7 of those were from the first one. The soundtracks are literally so good I can’t even explain it

7- The actors ages are awesome. Like, every single one is between 20 and 26, which is both amazingly age appropriate for high-schoolers (reminder: the first one came out in 2018, and they were probably filming all throughout 2017. Like the main two actors were been 16 and 17 while filming the first movie, which is amazing). And not only that, it’s fantastic that they’re all around the same age, because then it’s beautifully unproblematic casting. (Like, if there was a 16 year old and a 25 year old, that would be. Not good. But there wasn’t so it’s not not good!) And also, adding on to that, the actors are all just so good, despite their young age. They’re all so talented and amazing and they portray each of their characters so well and I want to hug them all please :D

8- The representation in terms of race. It’s astounding. There’s so much diversity in all the actors. The whitewashing with the zombies is very not great, but compared to other movies (especially other dcoms), the racial rep is absolute top notch (at least I think it is. If someone who’s watched more movies than me could fact-check me that would be excellent)

9- THE QUEER REP IN THE THIRD MOVIE. Everyone uses A-spen’s they/them pronouns perfectly and without question. In Exceptional Zed (Reprise), you can see a female werewolf holding hands with a female cheerleader. Zed finds out a-spen likes him, and he doesn’t say like “wait does that make me…”, nothing like that, he just says he’s got universal appeal. And that’s it. And then Addison tells him to be nice because a-spen’s new to emotions and I literally love both of them so much for it. A-spen and Willa become a couple at the end of the third movie, and they don’t hide it, nothing bad happens to them, it’s so casual and no one questions it and I love it so much

10- RuPaul voicing the Mothership.

11- every single person in every single one of these movies is so attractive. Help.

12- THE ALIENS CAN HELP THE HUMANS (and zombies and werewolves) WITH GLOBAL WARMING AND HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT SO THAT OUR PLANET DOESNT DIE LIKE THEIRS DID YAY

13- I wanted to make a negative point about how some of the characters (*cough*zed*cough*) aren’t exactly great people sometimes, but the thing is they literally always develop and become a better person. Which makes me mad cos I want to get angry at the characters but I can’t because they always improve Like, Zed’s got a couple problems a few times. In the second movie, he keeps insisting that zombies aren’t monsters. But, after being influenced by the werewolves, he’s proud to be a monster because there’s no shame in it. Like at one point the lady in charge of the uni’s applying to, so someone you’d probably be scared of correcting, said “Our biggest concern is that you could turn into a monster at any time.” and he swiftly corrects her and says, “Yes, I am a monster, but completely safe!” So he corrects her really easily and then continues on. And in the second movie he’s really racist against werewolves and that sucks but then he realises how many things they all have in common and he learns some things from the werewolves and he’s super nice and awesome to everyone ever after that. Even when the aliens come, he’s a little ticked off but only because the aliens coming made the college recruiter people freak out and run away, but then they help him out because he didn’t openly aggravate them or anything, so he’s just a super good person And later on, Addison’s alien powers finally come in and she keeps zapping Zed and making him go all freaky which makes the interview lady terrified and she starts running away, which means his chances of getting into the uni are really low at this point, and Addison pus on gloves and says “I’m so sorry!!” And Zed, ever the amazing person, says “Don’t be.” Then runs after her and sings a little reprise of exceptional zed and I love it. Anyway. There’s other examples of other characters’ development/s but Zed was the main one, and also I’ve already spoken a lot more than I thought I would do I’ll leave it there with this point.

14- There’s really good platonic male/female friendships and that’s so refreshing. You’d expect them to put the main two werewolves in a relationship, but no, one of them gets the tech-savvy-activist zombie (happiness!) and the other gets the non binary alien (hAPPINESS!) And after Addison leaves and they’re all staring into space where the Mothership had just been, Stacey takes Zed’s hand and holds it, and platonic handholding makes me feel so happy for some reason Just- usually movies take two best friends of opposite genders, then decide at least one of them likes the other, and forces them into a couple or forces one into the friend zone which makes things awkward and then their friendship doesn’t survive. And I hate it when they do that because it happens a lot, so seeing this franchise literally not even do it once feels so nice

15- This is just a small thing but oh my gosh, Wynter on the football team??? I LOVE IT MORE THAN I CAN EXPRESS. Like. It’s rare that you see men on the cheer squad, and yet there’s heaps of them. It’s even more rare that you see women on the football team (unless it’s specifically a “women’s football” team which is just stupid can we get rid of “sport” and “women’s sport” and just make it all ✨non existent✨ and just make it all ✨sport for everyone✨?). And not only that, a werewolf. And not only that, a werewolf who CLEARLY HAS AUTISM AND I LOVE HER And Zed is super duper supportive and amazing and says the right things Wynter spends the entire second movie doing or saying something, then asking “Too much?” And the answer is generally yes. Sometimes it’s more of an implied yes but still a yes. And then when Zed gets her pumped up at the rally thing, she runs super fast and accidentally makes an indent in the bus, and she asks “Too much?” And immediately, without missing a beat, Zed yells, “Never too much, you do you!!” AND IT FEELS SO GOOD FOR REASONS I CANT EXPLAIN

16- AMAZING LINES OH MY GOSH a few examples (okay more than a few): -“We’re changing ourselves. But what needs to change is everybody else.” (SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE FOLKS IN THE BACK) -“Yeah, we are different Bucky, but that’s what makes us stronger!” (👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏) -“I thought werewolves were just myths.” “Yeah, like cavities.” (This one’s just funny) -“How do people make it look easy? Are they happy or just good at deceiving?” (THE TRUTH STINGS BUT ITS SATISFYING) -“The more I cover up my flaws the more they appear.” (👏PO👏E👏TRY👏) -“Dude, you eat brains,” “If I did, you don’t have one so you’d be safe.” (The ✨sass✨) -“You’re beautiful, Addie… but the same beautiful that you’ve always been.” (Seriously tho, that was the perfect way to say that. Not ‘you’re not a werewolf,’ not ‘I’m sorry,’ just “you are beautiful.” Sorry I love her) -“We’re part of Seabrook, too. The originals, in fact.” (YES!! JUSTICE! FOR! ORIGINAL! OWNERS!) -“I couldn’t handle the fact that you might be a monster, ‘cause I couldn’t accept the fact that I am one.” (SLOW! SELF! ACCEPTANCE! I’ve only seen Zombies (1) but not the sequels. I find it kind of ridiculous but also funny that they keep adding new species?? Which I feel kinda defeats the point of the first movie??

But like I wanted to ask: Is it worth it watching the sequels?

13 | Treat Her Right

Series: A Zombie's Serenity

Paring: Zed Necrodopolis x OFC Buchanan!

A/N: Might be a few mistakes, and I'm using Brenna D'Amico as how the OC's looks

As a few hours past the door bell rings so I rush to go get it. "Careful running down the stairs before you break your neck." My dad says as I open the front door to see Zed dressed like he always does but slightly nicer.

"Come on in." I move out of the way letting him in.

"I'm so glad you could come." My mom comes into the living giving Zed a hug so he returns one back. "Dinner is not quite ready yet but almost. You two can hangout upstairs till I call you." My mom tells us and sneaks me a wink.

"Okay. Just follow me." I tell Zed and he does.

"Really?" He sees the hard poster of him in the corner.

"Bucky even gave me one of the big banners. Said because he knows I like my monster." I sit down on my bed.

"You took one of mine?" He points at the other one.

"You have my support still even when you lost." I put my work away.

"But you really put it up." He sits on my bed looking at it.

"You still look good." I say making him look over at me.

"Really? You like this? You find this still good looking? The veins and the darker eyes?" He gets up pointing at it.

"I do." I chuckle.

"Why?" He eyes the poster.

"Because I find you attractive therefore I find that side attractive as well." I say but he didn't believe me or still didn't understood why. "Zed, come here." I pat the spot next to me so he sits.

"I'm hideous when I zombie out though so how can you find me attractive?" He asks making me cup his face.

"Because I just don't and you aren't hideous. I find zombied out you, even slightly more, hotter than just normal you." I laugh at his face.

"You find me hotter when I zombie out?" He removes my hands.

"I do. This stays between us though, got it." I glare at him.

"Do you? You know? Really?" He starts to smirk leaning towards me.

"You get it so shut up now." I shove him away from me but he wraps his arms around me waist pulling me closer to him and onto his lap. "What do you think you're doing?" I ask him.

"I want to hold my girlfriend close to me." He places his forehead against mine.

"I don't remember you asking me..." I tell him.

"Serenity, will you be my girlfriend?" He asks with a small smile.

"Yes." I give him a kiss as my dad shouts dinner is ready. "By the way, Bucky doesn't know mom invited you still." I pat his back as we leave my room.

"I want to apologize now if I didn't cook the cauliflower meal, that most zombies eat, well. I forgot to buy some ingredients and I didn't have them here." Mom apologizes to him as we take a seat at the table.

"That's fine, Mrs. Buchanan. You didn't have to make anything special for me." He tells her.

"Please call me just call me Alina, Zed. And I know I didn't need to but I wanted to make you feel welcomed." She gives him a smile.

"Bucky, did you here me? Dinner is ready!" Our dad calls out.

"I was busy with president things." He says coming down the stairs.

Zed looks at me rolling his eyes causing me to laugh at him, "He's still won't shut up about it." I tell him.

As Bucky walks into the dining room he sees Zed and stops in place, "What is he doing here?" He eyes Zed sitting next to me.

"Your mother invited him over for dinner. Now take your seat." Our dad tells him.

Bucky sits across me and narrows his eyes at Zed so he gives him a smile making me giggle. As we start to eat dinner my dad decides to strike up a conversation, "So Zed, I thought you and Addison were dating? So what are you to my daughter?" We all pause from eating and look at my dad.

"Umm, I was never dating Addison. It was more like seeing..." Zed gets nervous with the spot light on him.

"So you hopped from Serenity to Addison back to Serenity?" My dad asks making us all uncomfortable.

"Ted, stop it." Our mom tells him.

"It's kinda my fault Zed even was with Addison. I kept lying to Addison saying Serenity wasn't coming back home so he would move on from her. I didn't want want them together so I lied." Bucky speaks up shocking Zed and I.

"Bucky." My mom says disappointed.

"So yes, Mr. Buchanan, you can say I hopped. But I never lost my feelings for Serenity and I never saw Addison like I see your daughter. I don't think anyone can make me fall as hard as I did for her. I knew there was something special about her when she said she always got caught trying to sneak into Zombietown when she was younger. And our first contact with each other she didn't even know I was a zombie and she shared that with me. Then when the lights came on she wasn't scared of me. She then snuck out of class to find me at football tryouts to apologize about how Bucky was." Zed tells my dad and I can't help but smile at him as he talks about me. I don't notice my dad look over at me because I was still looking at Zed in aww.

"Serenity." My dad says my name.

"Huh?" I look away from Zed.

"What do you have to say?" He asks me so I look back at Zed who was looking at me.

"Zed was the first person to ever make me feel special. I never thought in a million years a very sweet, confident zombie with his quick wit and charming smile would steal my heart." I chuckle looking away from Zed to my dad.

"Zed, you better keep treating her right." He looks at him.

"Of course." Zed smiles as I look over at Bucky, who was watching and listening closely.

"So how was the cauliflower thing, Zed?" My mom speaks up.

"It was good for your first time making it. Maybe I can help teach you have to make it." He chuckles.

"I would love that." She tells him.

Serenity was confused to why after they finished dinner, Zed decided to help her mom clean up. Bucky of course went straight to his room which wasn't a shocker to anyone. "Serenity. Can you come help me with the tv?" Her dad calls her so she stops watching Zed with her mom.

Alina looks at where her daughter once stood before turning to Zed, "I want to apologize for how I used to see Zombies." She makes him stop cleaning dishes.

"You don't have to apologize." He tells her.

"I do though. I said awful things without giving any of you a chance or getting to know you zombies. I learned a lot after we sent Serenity away. I couldn't stop replaying her begging for you to be let go. In that moment I knew I was wrong and I saw how much you meant to her. I'm so glad Serenity didn't listen to us growing up." She looks at Zed feeling really bad.

"I still get it. Plus one of us bite your fathers ear so." He chuckles. "You have a very special daughter. And I'm one very lucky Zombie to have met her in the zombie safe room on the first day of school. I knew she different because what human would tell another they tried sneaking into Zombietown to make a new friend?" They both laugh.

"No matter how many times she got caught she would go straight back to that wall. She was highly determined to prove us wrong... just years later she finally did." Alina smiles and Zed agrees.

"What are you two smiling about now?" Serenity walks back over to them.

"Cleaning, duh." Zed goes over to her.

"Why don't you two go hang out for a bit before you have to head home." Alina shoves the two out of the kitchen. The two end up going back to her room.

"Your dad make things awkward for a bit, huh?" Zed laughs as he shuts the door.

"For a bit but yours words changed the mood." Serenity smiles at him.

"I could feel your eyes on me the whole time." He jumps onto her bed.

"Well I was falling for you even more." She lays down next to him.

"And I'm not letting have your heart back." He lays on his said pulling her closer to him.

"You can keep it as long as you don't eat it." She gives him a playful wink.

Zed stares into her eyes as she keeps her locked on his, "Looking into you're eyes really help me calm down when I zombie out. And when I can't look into them, I just think of you." He tells her bringing his hand to her cheek.

"How?" She asks confused how her eyes or thinking of her help him.

"Serenity, a feeling of calm and peace, and you're my serenity." He tucks hair behind her ear.

"Huh, my mom just pick my name because it sounded pretty. I guess it's meaning means something to you." She can't help but laugh, "But I'm glad to be your serenity." She says making him smile.

"Permission to lean in?" Zed cups her face.

"Permission granted." She's places one of her hands on his face as they both lean in till their lips meet. Zed's hands move down to her hips gripping her tightly using them to pull her in even closer. Serenity presses her body against him as she ran her hand through the back of his hair. After a moment, Zed broke away resting his forehead against hers smiling. "You should get going so you can get home before curfew." Serenity rolls out of his arms getting off the bed.

"Yeah." He gets off her bed.

"I'll walk you to the door." She holds her hand out to him so he takes it into his.

"Thank you for having me over for dinner." Zed tells her parents, who were watching tv.

"Thank you again for coming." Alina gets up to give him a hug goodbye which he accepted and gave one back.

"Hope you get home safely." Ted tells him.

"Thank you." Zed says as Serenity opens the door for him. "See you tomorrow. I'll meet you halfway." Zed kisses Serenity's forehead as she hugs him goodbye.

"Okay. Night." She watches him leave till he was out of sight.

"What exactly are you two? Seeing or dating?" Ted asks his daughter.

"Dating as of today. Before dinner he asked me to be his girlfriend. Night mom, night dad." Serenity rushing upstairs to her room happy.

"She's so in love with him." Alina smiles watching her daughter.

"Wait, zombies have kids..." Ted looks at his wife.

"Ted! They're sixteen right now and just started dating." Alina hits him.

"You remember when we were young." He starts worry.

"Ted, just because we were doesn't mean all teenagers are. Now let's stop talking about our daughter and her boyfriend."
