Alright fuck it, z.o.m.b.i.e.s headcannons:

After graduating Seabrook High:

Addison, Zed, Wyatt, Wynter, Eliza, Bree, Bonzo, A-li, A-lan, and A-spen, all go to Mountain College after graduation (A few of them are prodigious enough to qualify for specialty programs out of state, but monsters have yet to be granted equal access to higher education anywhere not local to Seabrook)

A lot of them are undeclared, but A-spen is majoring in environmental science and minoring in history, Eliza is majoring in computer science and minoring in political science, Bonzo is majoring in linguistics, and Addison is majoring in social work

Willa works to rebuild her pack and works with Eliza as activists to push for social and legal monster acceptance, celebration, and equality

Wynter and Zed keep playing football in college

Most of them dorm at MC but visit Seabrook frequently

Random hcs:

Addison is strong asf (you cannot tell me otherwise) and she loves just randomly picking up Zed bridal carry style, especially when he's getting way too caught up in his head

Zed and Bonzo have loved doing graffiti since they were in middle school, and, after Zed gets away from the pressure of being "exceptional Zed" in hs, they pick up doing it together again

DIY is a huge part of zombie culture and Zed, Eliza, and Bonzo all take part in that in different ways. Eliza likes making techno music and programming, Bonzo likes art and experimenting with modifying instruments and making noise music, and Zed likes sewing/ textile diy.

Cringe culture is dead and I am currently pissing on its grave with my unironic Zombies fanart.

Zombies brainrot has taken over my life for the past month so of course I had to make fanart for it lol. Also I wish there was more fanart for these funky lil movies. Ppl should make more Zombies fanart.

[Also, the neurodivergent urge to explain everything I do has convinced me to say that the reason Bucky has pointy teeth in this is cuz I hc the aliens have pointy teeth and he's part alien and I can and will take every opportunity to give any character pointy teeth cuz they're fun to draw :)]

alrighty, one willaspen story coming up :)

Prompt: A-spen trying their best to be quiet while Willa is taking a nap.

~

“Goodnight Willa,” A-Spen smiled and tucked a strand of their girlfriend’s hair behind her ear as she slowly drifted off to sleep. Willa looked a lot less intimidating when she was asleep- she looked like a cuddly puppy compared to the fierce werewolf alpha she was when she was awake.

The wolf was curled up into a little ball, snoring softly. A-Spen giggled at the sight, but immediately stopped after they saw Willa starting to wake up.

They backed away slowly onto the other side of the room until Willa went back to sleep again. Okay. She wasn’t a heavy sleeper after all. The rest of the wolf pack was, but something about being the alpha made Willa feel like she had to be on high alert all the time.

A-Spen figured they’d just be as quiet as possible until Willa woke up. It’d be easy, right?

Spoiler Alert: it wasn’t

It was easy at first- A-Spen reading a book while Willa was sleeping; it seemed like a normal afternoon. That was until the alien’s Luma Lense started to beep, indicating that someone was trying to contact them. They fumbled around with the small object, trying to answer it as fast as they could before Willa woke up.

“A-Spen? Are you there?” A-Li’s loud voice rang through the small room. A-Spen flinched and put a finger to their lips, signaling that their friend needed to be quiet. “Willa is asleep, could you please be a bit quieter?” A-Li nodded quickly and pointed the camera at Wynter. “Wynter wanted to know if you’d be at the football game later,” she whisper yelled.

“Yes, I’m pretty sure we’ll be there,” A-Spen smiled. “Now, I’m gonna go before I wake up Willa. Goodbye.” And before A-Li could say anything, the Luma Lense turned off.

A-Spen thought everything would be fine from then on, until a tired voice broke the short-lived silence.

“A-Spen?” The alien spun around to see Willa, who had just woken up, staring at them. “My apologies,” they started. “Was I being to loud? I could go into the main room if you want, that way I won’t wake you up again!”

Willa only smiled at her partner, giving them a quick kiss on the cheek. “No, you don’t have to leave. I want you to stay here with me.”

A-Spen was shocked. Willa wasn’t upset? “You mean it? You really wish for me to stay with you?”

That earned a laugh from Willa. “Of course I do, now c’mere.” She pulled the alien down with her, pulling them closer and wrapping an arm around them.

“I like this,” A-Spen said after a while. They never did this ‘cuddling’ thing on the mothership. “I wish it could last forever.” That earned a chuckle from Willa. “Well, maybe it could,” she whispered. “We could miss the football game if you want.”

“Miss the football game?” A-Spen exclaimed. “I told A-Li we’d be there! She’ll be so mad..” they bit their lip and looked at Willa hopefully, who just winked. “She doesn’t have to know.”

And that’s exactly how it was for the rest of the afternoon. Willa and A-Spen cuddling eachother until they fell asleep while Wynter and A-Li were stuck wondering where they were, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Liveblog with all my thoughts under the cut

-Would have loved to have seen the comic style of narration for an actual prequel/ movie translated comic book

-Why did they just gloss over the whole second movie moonstone issue in the narration??

-Why are they letting a highschooler intern at a megacorp; without any college education??

-Why would you just walk up to someone and attempt to paint their face???

-I feel like if Eliza had been there it would have been solved in like an hour (I know her actress was pregnant so she wasn’t available)

-What’s with them trying to make side plot romances a thing all the time; like have the main couple and then the friends stay friends

-I can’t believe we got no narration from Bucky, a crime really, plus it could have fit well, with him narrating to make himself look better and then Zed cutting in to explain what ‘really happened’

-I do love Zed hyping Wynter up

- Wait do all the werewolves have pointed ears and I never noticed??

-I love the dance off but like the aliens are outnumbered

-I do hate the ‘miscommunication’ as a plot device trope; even if its as a whole they looked angry so we can’t say anything instead of listening to what they have to say; like you said yourselfs your arrival caused a disturbance, wouldn’t anyone be put off by that.

-Wait they can read each others minds all the time??? That must be a nightmare

-Why would you sing a song about how you hope you don’t break up; that was one of the reasons I loved zombies 1+2 they showed Zed and Addison communicating really well, but it seems like it’s been thrown out

-Couldn’t any of the other zombies have applied for the exceptional student scholarship? Or any other scholarships the college offers; I’m sure there were some that didn’t prohibit werewolves considering how they were only found out like last year

-Once again the were wolves having the best songs “don’t wanna freak you out be we’re monsters”

-”I’m in harmony in a super hostile way” is such a mood

-Not surprised they went with a climate disaster; but love the implication nothing was done because nobody wanted to disturb the status quo instead of- oh wait...

-Okay I enjoyed A-spen breaking up with Zed, that was a good trope subversion

-Wait why do they have to win it? Can’t they just scan it and have the coordinates on their ship?? like a GPS?? do they have to bring the trophy with them?

-Okay but the whole town hyping Zed up??? My heart 🥺

-”It’s a dead language like Latin” Bless

-I love the upbeat tune to “Exceptional Zed” it’s a nice juxtaposition to the lyrics

-”Progress for you is progress for us all.”

-shrimpy and eely are my otp

-Wait is Seabrook the only highschool/town with zombies??

-The werewolves have little ‘claws’ painted on their nails?!?!

-Wow look it’s more miscommunication by omission; how wonderful (sarcasm)

-Zoey Zombie-ing out to help her brother is so cute

-Do zombies ‘zombie out’ at a certain age? do they always have a z-band??

-I’m sorry the coordinates are in her DNA??? like an orphan black kidna thing or???

-Are you telling me baby addison never like pulled her moms wig off, or found it when she was showering or something?? Did her dad assume it was some weird age thing??

-Also how does the mom feel with her own mother bypassing her as “the most precious thing” for it to be her granddaughter?

-Addison is a part of our pack forever 🥺

-They’re going to use Addison as a ground source????

-Okay but the concept of Utopia being where Addison/her grandmother feels the safest would have been way better

-I love the fact they basically came back for the graduation party

-So where’s the vampire movie??? Where they find out Bucky is a vampire; and everyone thinks the vampires are stealing blood but they’re just disposing of blood that’s diseased?? like everyone in seabrook has anemia??

-Where’s the one where Bree is a Mermaid???? And Bonzo has to learn to swim???

-So does the alien gene skip a generation? Or can the mom use a lens too?

-Where is the movie about Bucky getting lost in space/bringing cheer everywhere and everyone else trying to convince him to come back to seabrook?

A\N: I’m so sorry this is so short, I have zero inspo rn but I wanted to post it already. still hope you like it tho! <3

~ A-spen is just the cutest and softest alien, and we all know that.

~ They’ll do their best to make you happy while they’re still trying to figure out how to do that.

~ They’re so scared to mess up, they’ll ask you and your friends 100 times if they do it right.

~ Don’t shout at them or get super mad at them, they’re very sensitive and would start crying if you will.

~ A-spen isn’t as protective as others and mostly don’t understand why everyone are so hurt when someone else says they like you (or them), they just think you’re too awsome not to like.

~ They’ll always be there for you and help you deal with your emotions as much as they can while learning more about them.

~ So. Many. MOVIE NIGHTS.

~ Zed and Addison mentioned they’re going to have a movie night once, so they literally investigated what is it. When they figured it out and had one with you, they insisted to have as many movie nights with you as possible.

~ A-spen would cry in EVERY. SINGLE. MOVIE. I don’t know why but I just see that happens.

~ Romance movie? Crying. Action movie? Crying. Super emotional movie where all your favorite characters die? CRYING.

~ Eventually you got sick of it, so you presented them to the magic of ✨having dates outside✨. A-spen still prefer movie nights, but you seem to like those “date” things so much so they take you out a lot.

~ If you like reading books, A-spen didn’t figure out why- at first. What there is to like in just words on a paper when you can watch moving pictures?

~ but as you explained them why you love reading, and also started doing that while cuddling with them, they asked you to read for them and started liking it too.

~ The other aliens like you too, and they all become your best friends. A-spen isn’t supoer jealous or protective, but they don’t want you to spend ALL your time with the other aliens.

~ The mothership was a little suspicious about you when A-spen introduced you for the first time, but she started liking you when she saw how happy her child (A-spen) was with you.

~ Overall, you guys are super cute and you both are so happy the aliens came to Seabrook.

willa and aspen stargazing for your zombies prompts? 👀

She asks them if they want to go somewhere far away from the den one evening, no more than a glance their way.

She knows the pack can be a little much for anyone not used to it, and gets the feeling that A-Spen could use some true quiet, after everything that's happened.

They don't say anything at first, seconds slowly ticking into moments.

Willa watches as one of her packmates tugs her brother up and into the fray of dancing and celebration, pushing him to the middle of the room, laughing all the while. Wyatt snags Wynter's hand and brings her with him, smiling wide as she falls in step next to him, one foot in front of the other. She likes seeing her family this happy, compared to how life was before they were able to find the moonstone, where they wouldn't dare to draw on the power inside of them unless they absolutely had to, unsure when exactly their time would be up.

It's better now.

It's definitely better.

A-Spen touches their hand to her shoulder, fleeting and hesitant. Willa nearly smiles. No words are needed as she stands and begins to lead the way, hearing telling her A-Spen sticks close behind as she guides them through the crowd. She catches her brother's eye as she reaches the front of the den, and tries to ignore the smirk he gives. She hates how easily he can read her.

The trek through the forest isn't long.

The place she has in mind isn't too far, contrary to her previous words, and offers all the escape someone could need, hidden just out of sight between two large trees whose branches curl together. A jagged cliffside Willa always thought looked too manmade to be true sits on the left, blocking off any prying eyes as she stops in front of it, one hand outstretched to help A-Spen through.

They glance curiously between her and the entrance, covered by stretching moss and dying grass, and Willa can't help the way her lips quirk.

"Don't trust me?"

A-Spen's eyes meet with hers. She can hear the beat of their heart, one beat too fast. She doesn't know if it's out of fear, or certainty.

"I trust you," they tell her after another beat. Quiet. Trusting.

They come closer, and Willa grabs their hand, careful. She shows them where to step, helps push them along with a clawed hand to their back, but her touch is gentle, and her eyes aren't as piercing as they usually are when she meets A-Spen's eyes once the both of them are on the other side.

She lingers, and then she turns away. "Come on," she says, voice the loudest thing amongst the sudden silence that stretches on and on around them. "It's just ahead."

They walk together a moment more, and then Willa stops and hears the sharp intake of A-Spen's breath.

There's a cliff a few feet in front of them, curved on either side, before it cuts off abruptly. Willa knows there is nothing below. The sky is alight with so many stars that it would be impossible to try and count them all, and the moon stands bright in between, staring down at them like a beacon.

A-Spen takes a few shocked steps forward.

Willa follows, and ignores the hum of her moonstone as she comes to a stop beside them, nearly on the edge of the cliff. Their eyes are turned to the beautiful night sky, flickering between each and every star. Willa wonders if maybe it's just monsters like herself that can't count every single one.

The silence between them drags on, and on, and on. Willa shifts. A-Spen stays still, and then is a sudden flurry of movement as they turn to her and squeeze tightly at her arm.

"Three thousand five hundred and thirty-two!" they say, so excited that it takes Willa aback. "There are three thousand five hundred and thirty-two stars in the sky at this exact moment! How amazing!" A-Spen's hand slides down to her own, and they laugh, tugging at the werewolf. "So amazing," they continue, "to see such a thing with someone like you."

Willa is frozen for a long moment.

A-Spen's excitement is almost contagious. And then a smile curves her lips, and she wonders how someone can find so much in things so little. Hopes maybe that she'll learn how to do the same, one day soon. Thinks that maybe she wouldn't mind having someone else with her when she does.

"It's just stars, A-Spen," she says with a small huff, though the tone of her words is lighthearted, and she doesn't want to let go of a moment like this one just yet, not when the night is so young, not when the air is so cool and the sky is so open and her heart is beating faster than it should.

Maybe this night will last a little longer than the rest.

I used to love the Pettson och Findus (Pettersson und Findus) books as a kid - and still do - and always wanted to try the style. The wackiness of ZR makes a good fit, I think!
