Hey, saw your Prsk Unit Shuffle AU and am very interested in seeing more.

In particular, I'm interested in hearing more about how the groups formed. It's always neat to see how these characters first meet and interact under different circumstances. And, as a little bonus, maybe what their "Untitled"/theme song is, because I feel like that's a very key part of a unit's identity that tends to be overlooked.

(Not sure if you're still interested in asks about this AU. If not, sorry for bugging you about it)

GASP HELLO I LOVE TALKING ABOUT MY UNIT SHUFFLE AU im so sorry this too forever to get u back on!! schoolwork is a pain and then i went SHOPPING (which takes forever :sob:)

okok so i haven't really thought about all the details of how they get together? so bear with me this is a rough draft lol

SSS: the idea at the core of this group is that its a family with different strengths coming together to make music. so tsukasa is the scriptwriter, saki is the lyricist, toya is the choreographer, and kanade is the composer! the group is headed by tsukasa, who's actually been putting on these shows for all of them since he was a kid. as he got older, he started taking stardom more seriously (leading into canon), but an incident in middle school ended up with the tenmas legally adopting toya, so that definitely shook things up for tsukasa (in a good way!). so i think that (+ l/n not reforming, which does happen in the SSS main story) allowed tsukasa and saki to consider banding their strengths together, since tsukasa loved putting on shows and saki loved seeing them, but she would also help put them on for toya (and later kanade, when she joins them not long after toya does). the two of them very quickly realize that they need more hands, and although recruiting kanade as composer is easy (bc 25ji never forms- dont ask why im still figuring that out lol) toya is a lot harder bc he's still active under BAD DOGS with akito. however, with akito picking up AWR around the same time (+ hatsune freaking miku appearing to toya), toya does join under their choreographer as for their untitled, their song is Wonderland and the Sheep's Song by Hachi, but I worked out their line distributions to this lovely KYO cover! you can see my color-coded lyrics for them here if you're interested :)

R/l: im gonna be 100% honest with you SSS and AWR are the only ones with any semblance of a plot rn LOL but here's the base idea around R/l: mizuki and rui both congregate on the kami school rooftop bc, yknow, loners (mizuki is never reached out to by kanamafu, so not 25ji on their part. tsukasa doesnt end up applying for phoenix so wxs doesn't have a chance of forming). at some point, i imagine they got talking about music, but never did anything concrete. but not long into the main story (probably the very start) an also joins them, her dream of surpassing rad weekend getting weaker as she struggles to find a partner (koha will be explained later) so she goes to hang with her friend on the rooftop. at some point, mizu and an both accidentally enter sekai, where they meet miku and len. those two tell them that there's still two others they need to find because they also made the sekai. mizu and an get.... maybe a little too excited over this. an takes this chance to invite her friend haruka over to kami (so she transfers) and join the group, but in their search for their fourth member they end up accidentally alienating rui (ironic). they fix that tho-- although HOW i dont know lol their untitled was one i went back and forth on (tbh only SSS and AWR i didnt lol), but i eventually decided on Untitled Hymn by shaito! their color-coded lyrics are here (i just realized you can barely tell where an is in lines but ehhh)

ATD: okay so. ATD is the group thats given the most gosh-darn trouble. ive revised their cast motivations like, TWICE now. but basically it goes like this: shizuku and mafuyu are both members of the archery club, with mafuyu trusting shizuku so much that her public mask slips a couple of times (against her will). shizuku's not dumb, but she doesn't say anything bc i think she understands that mafu has her secrets. after shizuku quits being an idol (on more of her own terms), she still wants to find a way to share the light she had before that seemed to reach mafu a few times. enter: accidental sekai trip! this trip both gives shizu the idea for an online group (which could sorta count as MMJ but i think the big distinction is they do more streamer/vtuber stuff and less purely idol stuff?? im still working on that) and lets her see mafu with her mask fully off. eventually, shizu drags nene into the business (nene never attends kami here, workin on that) bc shizu and mafu have no idea how streaming works and nene does, but nene likes hiding behind the camera but is still a part of the group bc who can say no to shizu? and hona joins at shizu's request bc they're both beautification members (and apparently hona+mafu are both honors students so i wonder if they have some overlap?? can you tell ive never attended public school lol) their untitled gave me SO MUCH TROUBLE. because ATD is supposed to be a weird mix of 25ji and mmj? but all of their songs get swiped by either R/l, AWR, or even SSS, so it was hard to find something that i thought could be specifically them. eventually, i finally decided on Common World Domination by PinocchioP! Their color-coded lyrics can be found here :)

MxC: oh boy this one's a doozy. so the idea here is like... there are underground music rings? which sounds wild but like if music is vaguely the lifeblood of this world i DONT CARE it can happen! i don't wanna make it life-threatening tho so its more like... you get blacklisted from everything. which for shiho--who got sucked into this world in an attempt to find bandmates--is VERY BAD. but shiho's given a little bit to find a band before their first performance, but with l/n definitely gone their separate ways (and she never wanted to involve them in the first place) she's kinda stuck. enter: airi and ena! both of them had been watching the music battles, unsatisfied with their current lives (airi having just quit idol/tv work, ena just frustrated over her art), but airi knows shiho thru miya, and when she heard about shiho's impending doom, she resolved herself to very quickly learn guitar and join her group, roping ena (who has a little bit of drum experience from akito and mom) into it as well. meanwhile, while all of this is going on, kohane (being the sweet soul she is) has been trailing shiho out of concern, but then is entirely horrified at the underground battles bc shes still pre-canon meek. but she really wants to help shiho, so she agrees to try and learn keyboard. after clearing the first battle, shiho and her group are safe--for now. they'll have to clear a lot more battles if they want to escape the underground their untitled is Hello Builder by UtsuP since i wanted them to have harsher rock songs than l/n (bordering on metal-ish)! color-coded lyrics here :)

AWR: funny story--all of the above units were made in the order listed! so i got to AWR and... i have ichika, minori, emu, and akito. and im like "NONE OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE ANYTHING IN COMMON". and then i went. "WAIT. THATS IT!" so here's how AWR goes: ichika still tries to reform l/n, but fails; minori is still trying to become an idol; and emu is still trying to revive the wonder stage. all three of them, all attending miya ofc, end up bonding over this and they start thinking. is there a way to satisfy all three of their dreams (band, idol, and show) at once? and at FIRST the answer is "no lol" so they go exploring. and somehow someway (workin on that) word finds out about this and some guy on vivid street dares akito to try and fix em into shape in a week. akito--being akito--accepts quite hotheadedly, then quickly realizes that maybe this wasnt a good idea?? because EVERYONE has a different music taste and its almost impossible to keep up with them all!!! but eventually they do figure it all out, and by the end none of them wanted to split apart or anything. AWR is i think the group that has the least amount of direction which might be on purpose. i think (again im rambling rn so) part of their story is figuring out what their direction is going to be! their untitled is Lip Sync by DECO*27, written as a part of holo*27 (hi no im not rlly into vtubers i just like their music) but i count it bc its written by a voca producer and this would not be the first time a non-vocaloid sung a unit song (cough cough mafumafu and tuyu). you CAN find my color-coded lyrics here.... but i did the translations. which means they're pretty much 98% google translated then bonked around to make sense. i dont know japanese please dont sue me

Looking for some new manga to read!! Do you have any favourite manga or any manga you’d recommend? I’m open to reading a lot of different manga since I only began reading manga at the end of last year- so there’s a lot of manga I haven’t read or heard off!! Thanks!!

I........ actually don’t read manga that much guys.....

mostly bc I’m usually so picky fhgkdkfgj pls don’t get me wrong, there’s tons of mangas/manhwas/webcomics that I like, but I only follow a few. I usually follow something that I use as some kind of reference to build my own story, mainly for the art and characterizations, etc so yeah wwww

for ones I obviously read were Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater, ofc, but you def already know about them wwwwww

so uhh I guess I’m just gonna list what I currently follow? I’m currently liking manhwas/webcomics bc it’s easy to read on mobile. these are all that I check p regularly:

1. Gangsta. by Kohske. (seinen, adventure/thriller) Yeahhh p obvious I love this one lmao, it’s mature and pretty dark and interesting even though the plot’s pretty simple. Also, Kohske is cruel. She’s one of mangakas I look up to fgsgsjfd. It’s about mafia fights and drug problems and superhumans. plot is angst-heavy, but the characters are so lovable and did I mention everyone was hot asf? it’s currently on hiatus tho.

2. Otoyomegatari by Kaoru Mori (seinen, romance) this one’s so obvious lmao I like pretty clothes and it’s a great reference for me to learn to be a mangaka. The plot follows the stories of couples and marriages in medieval central asia. I must warn that the art details on this manga is beyond insane. Eyegasm.

3. Kono Oto Tomare by Amyuu (shounen, music) if u like chihayafuru u def would like his one wwwww. it’s about Koto and traditional japanese music. the romance is so cute jhdfsjfgsjkafgjkghgjdgd

4. Akatsuki no Yona by Kusanagi Mizuho (shoujo, adventure/romance). I’m honestly so into historical mangas wwwwww. it follows Princess Yona and her ‘dragons’ on their journey after Yona was exiled from the palace.

5. Boku no Hero Academia by Horikoshi Kohei (shounen). Yeah this one’s maybe the only popular shounen I follow rn wwww but I haven’t checked it since like four months ago or smt wwwww

6. Flawless by Shinshinhye (webtoon, romance). it’s about a story between a blind boy with advanced senses and a headstrong girl. seriously good romance and even the side characters are all so complex and flawed. The male lead is a bit twisted and so manipulative while the heroine is stubborn and v independent.

7. 7 Wonders by Metalu (webtoon, fantasy/romance) idk if this had been translated or no, I read it in my native lang wwwww. it revolves around Indonesian folktale of Jaka Tarub and Nawang Wulan.

8. The Villainess Reverses The Hourglass (manhwa, romance). Aria Roscente was sentenced to death bc of her adopted family’s schemes, but god gave her a chance to change her fate by sending her back ten years earlier, and this time Aria vows to be a real villainess to punish people who wronged her.

I love this one so much bc we have a villain as a protag, who actually acts like a villain. She actually knows she’s evil, is ruthless, but still so charismatic that we can’t help but think that her actions were justified. I’m weak against greatly written villains. She’s also deeply wicked to the core, and not turning into your typical glorified good hero. Did I also mention she’s a strong woman who absolutely doesn’t need no man? yeah absolutely good shit

9. Suddenly I Became A Princess/Who Made Me A Princess by Plutus & Spoon (manhwa, fantasy, isekai). seriously, I normally don’t do isekai guys but I like this one so much wwwww. Basically an orphan fell asleep (suicide?) and woke up in the body of Athanasia, a princess she’d read about in a novel. The catch is she knows the whole plot of the novel and she knows Athanasia’s gonna be murdered by her own father, the emperor. So we follow Athy as she tries to avoid her death. Good. Found. Family. Shit.

Also the dad’s so tsundere hjgdskgfdk I love him.

10. Lessa by POGO (manhwa, dark fantasy) Completely Underrated™. it splits into a trilogy; Lessa, Lessa: The Crimson Knight, and Lessa: Servant of Cosmos. the last one is ongoing. Following the adventure of Lessa, a fallen god who fathered a demonic race called the Demans, and Rano, a human searching for his sister who was abducted by the demans.

This one also got a pretty dark in theme, considering its heavy symbolic with gods, angels, disciples and believers. I must warn that the art is maybe not for everyone bc it could get pretty disturbing like let’s say, Madoka? but instead of cute girls we have devilish/satanic figures lol. But honestly, the art is very pretty, and it speaks. Definitely my favorite manhwa so far.

Bonus, the ones that already completed (or, ehm, indefinitely on hiatus)!

1. Chang Ge Xing by Xia Da (manhua, seinen) currently on indefinite hiatus, but the published chapters are definitely Worth It™. it follows Princess Chang Ge, who was chased out of the palace after a coup, and living as a man while trying to gather strength for a revenge. I’m a historical fanatic I told you wwwww, but also the heroine is so complex, ruthless, cunning, manipulative, but also independent and v charismatic. The kinda heroine I love the most ughhh.

she seduces princesses and even elected as the male lead’s ‘sworn brother’ lol also she has a wife at some point. A++

2. Zetsuen No Tempest by Shirodaira Kyo (shounen, dark fantasy) follows Mahiro and Yoshino as they try to crack the murder case of Mahiro’s sister Aika through magic, wizards, and logic, at the end of the world. Heavy Shakespeare references. if u don’t have the time to read the manga, the anime is a pretty dang good choice too.

most of these “dates” just end up being more of a “ghosts hanging out trying to figure out some Stuff they’re going through together” than like. romances, like theres some implications with some of the ghosts but its really focused more on people coping with loss and accepting death, moving on, finding peace, etc and also just some silly ghost misadventures like. haunting stuff. its real good but its not really like A Dating Sim all that much for the most part, but. u can absolutely smooch andy, as it turns out

taking this moment to fully admit that I had never listened to the DSS @ Budokan bonus CD properly until now and I am SHOOK by how good Different Sense and Juuyoku (Unplugged) are....like damn...they’re so fucking GOOD!!!! Like these both just skyrocketed up to RED SOIL/Namamekashiki Unplugged status for me, I can’t believe how long I slept on this. >( Like I had actually avoided these two songs on this CD specifically bc I have such strong feelings about them and was not prepared to hear an acoustic rendition that i hated 🤡 And Ruten no tou...this is one where I think for the Acoustic ver to be up there Kyo needed to tweak parts of the vocals more. I like the Unplugged ver more. I think.

I don’t like the CD ver of Symphonic Beelzebub at all tbh, the mixing is way off and the symphonic elements feel like they have literally just been pasted over the top of the song, and they actually drown out the other instruments, and obscure Beelzebub’s exquisite build-up, which just makes it feel cluttered and aimless. I do think it sounds good live, but on CD it needed to be incorporated a lot better imo. Symphonic Diabolos is different though, I was surprised by how much I liked this...imo it was incorporated almost perfectly. I wasn’t sure how I felt about the opening strings at first but as the song went on and they incorporated that tone into other parts I thought it was wonderful. And the first verse with just a soft piano ahhhh, so perfect ♡♡♡ And then Lotus is obviously the KING of the symphonic versions. .......weirdly I am realising now that Symphonic Hageyami and Akatsuki actually hasn’t left an impression. :/

And I’m so annoyed, Amon (crossover ver) could have been so epic, i love the idea behind it but as it is it just doesn’t work! how the fuck you gonna just paste those vocal lines over that beat, it’s DEEPLY annoying in how badly it doesn’t work >( parts of the vocal lines needed to be altered to work with that kind of instrumentation COME ON GUYS! And Dreambox is...interesting. I’m not into jazz at all so the free jazz instrumentation kinda wigged me out but I think it works a lot better for Dreambox than Amon (even though I like the instrumentation in Amon more) because it’s free of form.

And the folklore ver of Vanitas is okay but as an alternative version it doesn’t have anything that would compel me to listen to it over the original. And I could never get over them not including the music box ver of it on this CD. Never getting over it. It was like, your one job Kaoru. ☹️

tw: graphic descriptions of injury, major character death

Shiro didn’t know how everything had gotten so awful so quickly. Of course he knew that saving the universe was dangerous, it was a hazard to even be in space. He knew that they could very well die without ever returning home and there would be no funeral but their bodies fed to the abyss of space. It was a harsh reality, but they were lucky. He was lucky. It never mattered, for too long anyways, that he woke up in a cold sweat, screaming because he could see all the faces of those he’d killed swimming in front of his eyes. He had a svelte shape at his side that could murmur sweet nothings into his ear, could card long fingers through his hair while he squeezed his hand and proclaimed his love. Lance kept him safe from the terrors snapping at his heels away from the fire of battle, but Shiro had failed at keeping him safe even in it.

He hadn’t seen the shot until it was too late, until Lance was diving in front of him in a blur of blue and white and then red. So much red. Shiro remembered screaming, and then he was at Lance’s side after tearing through the remaining attackers in a blaze of purple light and screaming directions for extraction into the comms even he barely understood. He clasped him to his chest with such tenderness his hands shook, and Lance had the nerve to arrange his blood stained, wobbling lips into a smile.

“It’s okay,” he whispered, but that was followed by a wet cough that left crimson puddle on the ground he turned to as a reaction. Shiro could do nothing but hold him, memories flashing behind his eyes so much faster then he could handle, and he realized he had new fuel for nightmares. One last innocent life lost because of him, but this time he would have no lover to comfort him and bring him back to reality. He vaguely could register Lance clinging to him, and then nudging him a little with the heel of his palm.

“Hey, hey Shiro d-do you remember that song?” he asked. Shiro could only stare, because all he could see was red. Lance was not red. His lion was, his gun was, but Lance was not red. He never should’ve been red. Lance laughed, a pitiful sound that made Shiro tighten his grip on Lance, like if he clung to him tight enough he would keep him anchored in this world and away from the next. When Shiro couldn’t manage a response, Lance hummed softly and sat up to place a shaky kiss on Shiro’s cheek.

“You know, the one I told you about. We use it sometimes, when your nightmares are too bad and we can’t go back to sleep. You remember that, don’t you?” Shiro could only shake his head, a fumbling stream of Lance’s name falling from his lips. All he could see was how wet and red the wound puncturing Lance’s beautiful skin was. His skin feathered and easy to tear, like it would take no more effort than ripping tissue paper. Even as frail as he was, Lance set his pain aside and did his best to reassure, Shiro

“Come on, let’s sing,” he suggested calmly, and his trembling thumb ghosted across the white of Shiro’s knuckles. Lance’s voice was strained with the all encompassing agony that relentlessly lit his body up, but it carried the tune well enough even with gaps in the song.

“He stumbled into faith and thought,” he began, coughing again while Shiro stared at him with an expression containing such torment that it made him falter before he could bring himself to continue. Shiro’s arms were still strong around him, the only part of him that didn’t crumble under the circumstances.

“God this is all there is.” Shiro could not understand, not while he tried to separate the present from the horrors of his past.

“The pictures in his mind rose, and began to breathe.” A sickening stain was growing on Shiro’s armor, viscous and sticky and with a coppery stench that burned Shiro’s nose. Lance interrupted his own performance for a moment, shaking Shiro’s shoulder with absolutely pathetic force. It was still enough to jar him.

“Sing, darling. Just like we always do. It’s just us, nothing from before. Focus on me, okay?” Shiro was able to nod, his chin dropping in a motion jerky enough to send a jolt through Lance and create a grimace on his beautiful features. Again, Lance’s voice rose in a rasp, taut from the torture of his last few living moments.

“And all the gods in all the worlds, began colliding on a backdrop of blue.” Shiro’s lips moved but no sound came out. His tongue felt too fuzzy and heavy, trapped within his mouth. He could only focus on the blue, blissful blue of Lance’s eyes while his smaller lover’s hand stroked his own soothingly.

“Blue lips, blue veins.” Shiro finally managed a burst of sound, a croak that just barely fought past his shock and overwhelming panic to make itself heard. Lance smiled, thin and fake while tears gathered in his eyes. Shiro felt the same wetness on his cheeks, falling to bead unceremoniously on Lance’s tan skin.

“Good,” Lance praised him lovingly. “That’s it, again. You’re okay. You’re fine. I’m here.”

“Blue lips, blue veins,” they chorused, Lance’s voice somehow less tremulous then Shiro’s. The black paladin always tried so hard to pretend he was fine, but Lance knew better, and his overpowering urge to protect Shiro above all else made him strong for just a little longer.

“Blue, the color of the planet from far, far away.” Shiro was gaining in volume now, zeroing in on the subtle weight of Lance in his arms and the rhythm of his touch. Lance kept him grounded.

“Blue, the most human color.” Lance was fading, losing his fervor as Shiro gained his stability again. They sang again and again, forgetting themselves and everything else in the highs and lows and lyrics that they both knew so well.

“Blue lips.” It was just Shiro now, crooning to Lance who could only smile and let the morbid lullaby lure him to a much more permanent sleep.

“Blue veins.” Lance only barely kept his eyes open. He wanted Shiro’s face, scarred and kind and loving to be his last memory.

“Blue, the color of the planet from far, far away.”

Lance’s eyes clouded over, and he fell still.

The team arrived too late. By the time they burst in, all there was to be salvaged was a broken man who sang his love to a corpse painted in a color that most definitely wasn’t blue.

hey there was tons of great kyoru today but dont forget the REST OF THE INCREDIBLE CONTENT heres what i, as someone who has never crushed on kyo (and thus has less bias than most), fixated on this ep:

- momiji!! is so cute!! hes so worried for tohru when shes sick :'/ and also we saw some of his secret little shit personality! i love him!

- yuki, being a third wheel for the first time! at this point kyoru is in love and he can TELL, hes so tired and he wants to get put of the street (bonus points: the marketing team realized that kyoru was getting too obvious to properly sell the love triangle bullshit, so OOP HERES KAGURA lets shove kyo at her and OOPS SINCE SHES HERE lets have yuki and tohru go on a """"date""""" and give them undeserved shojo bubbles)

- tohru's broke ass made a stunning appearance today! idk if yall noticed, but when shes talking to hatori about the cost of medicine, after he has his little spiel about "nah u dont owe nothin we love you" tohru, who we would think might protest further, just smiles : ) bc she aint got NO money SHE aint gonna insist on paying something. god bless

- speaking of hatori, he almost had severus snape levels of extra drama and flair today, he was in top form, ayame and shigure have really rubbed off on him cause when hes in a good mood and around supportive children?? he fully admits to being a little shit about giving shigure shots and his little spiel about "it seems there are people who are relying on you to get better" was so extra, his little hair flip and smile were so cute, i love him, no one can ever call him dry and boring

- kagura was characterized and developed so well!!! ngl her last date with kyo (late in the manga) always always always makes me cry bc like, building up a crush on someone in your head without actually taking their feelings into account is SUCH a mood, and so is feeling terribly guilty about it, and so is still loving the real person anyway!! and there were so many little hints about her story in this ep, im so hyped

- finally, last but CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, shigure had NO RIGHT to be so cute in this ep BUT HE WAS. HE HAS STOLEN MY HEART IK HES TERRIBLE BUT I HAVE POOR TASTE IN MEN, SHUT UP. like, seriously, the amalgamation of teasing "is that for tohru?" little shit shigure and whiny "how could you haa-san?! i sort of knew anyway but how could you do that to me?!" little baby shigure and "do me a favour and get some rest, hmm, tohru?" HOT shigure and "yes, mission acomplished, i kicked out the disaster children and protected my house" dad shigure is far more powerful than it should be and--dare i say it--has more daddy energy than kazuma
