{▪︎ To take a long break from the chaos, the islands two oldest engines found an old branchline rarely used by the other engines. Episode 2 of Gniyned to Escape is out now! Enjoy the burning hot excitement of Volcano Blast 4-D, take in a few games at the midway, or maybe learn why people from all over FLOCK to Gniyned Park.
Big Crown Records (Brooklyn, New York) has brought a lot of musical joy to my life through Holy Hive and Surprise Chef. Now comes a repressing of their 2016 reissue of New Orleans group Boco.
"Running the Mardi Gras" and "Smile" definitely have a sound that feels like the year it was made. This single was originally released in 1972 on Laughing Eye Records. It is an amazing amalgamation of funk, soul, and country. The bands mentioned in the previous paragraph are continuing the traditions of bands like Boco. So are artists like Bobby Oroza.
As I often say, I can't listen to indie rock all the time.
