Blue Malasian Coral Snake
Calliophis Bivirgata Flaviceps
Habitat: They are usually found at some elevation around 400 meter above sea level. This species prefers heavily wooded and wet areas in Malaysia.
Length: up to 5 ft
Diet: they will prey on other snakes, lizards, frogs, and birds
Venom toxicity: they have a neurotoxic venom thats isnt very painful at first. The bite site might become numb and difficulty in breathing with occur soon after. No anti venom exist.
Cool facts
They seem to perfer living and foraging under leaves and fallen trees and rocks.
They are found usually at night but on rainy or cloudy days they've been known to come out during the day.
During foraging they can go very slowly but if they feel threatened they can move incredibly fast as they flip almost spastically. When they feel trapped they may flip over onto their back and flash they brightly colored under belly. The belly colors can be red, orange, and pinkish.
They are front fanged and generally flee when disturbed but will sometimes remain coiled with their bright red tail erect as a warning.
They are sometimes mistaken for the Pink Headed Reed snake.

If error was a lamina bitty, he'd be a blue coral snake. The colors fit him nicely
*It’s true. I think @dragonessloves designed an Error lamia based on that snake! For anyone who hasn’t seen or heard of it, the blue coral snake (also know as the Malayan or Malaysian blue coral snake):
Tumblr media
Bright colors!
Tumblr media
Extremely venomous!
(The venom effect is nearly instant, painful, muscle cramp paralysis throughout the entire body. They have a venom gland that extends nearly a quarter of their body (huge!), and use the venom to hunt other venomous snakes (scary!) Studies of their venom could lead to breakthroughs in human pain treatment though, so good boys or girls!)
Tumblr media
What are their tails even doing?
(Signalling that they are extremely venomous and not to be messed with, actually, but… curly!)
Tumblr media
Very handsome.
(He has done nothing wrong!)
NOTE: @starlitsunset-adoptions also has beautiful lamias based on this unique and lovely snake!

This stunning snake is Calliophis bivirgata flaviceps, the Malaysian blue coral snake, a Southeast Asian native that preys on other snakes. These snakes are incredibly venomous and have caused a few deaths, though it’s an uncommon event due to their shy natures and easily-identified aposematic coloring. Images by Tom Charlton.

After watching a video of a snake yawning, the inspiration for this design came to me, I always imagined Vivienne holding one, the one I used in the design was the Malaysian Blue Coral Snake

Okay so Steter or Stetopher is the pairing/throuple I’m sending you. And my prompt would be either daemon AU (if you’re unfamiliar, your soul exists in animal form outside your body) for them or they’re all shifters (like maybe it’s a thing in this universe? Idk) because I wanna hear what animals you pick for them and like if you stick with wolf for Peter haha
Uuuuuuuugh.
Like, I've been thinking and thinking and I have zero plot to come from this prompt but I have the animals. So. Here's what I've got for daemons/shifts (with photos because why not, cw for snake pics... but like real snakes thats not a euphemism... )
Stiles - mongoose. Craving socialization, hyper active, will absolutely throw down like a little asshole against perceived predators/threats such as snakes (which could be amusing with Peter's)
Tumblr media
Peter - coral snake. Second most venomous snake in the world but not considered all that particularly deadly to humans because they have a less than effective bite. So like, he COULD be dangerous but ultimately he fails. Constantly. Also quite flamboyant in color, and would look super hot wrapped around Peter's forearm. Also, the Malaysian blue coral snake comes with its own v-neck
Tumblr media
Chris - cooper's hawk. Watchful. Deadly. Agile. Aggressive when provoked and territorial. Prone to roaming/migrating. Also, intense eyes, so, that's not NOT part of it.
Tumblr media
So thank you for the prompt. As you can see I got way too into it but have no actual fic to show for myself. Sigh. But I appreciate your attempt at pulling me out of my writer pit of despair!

MediEvil Daemon Headcanons
Dan – Large, friendly, enthusiastic and above all daft dog. I would say Lupo should be his daemon, but that dig might have too many braincells for the role.
Kiya – A sleek and shy sphinx cat. Most people would have no idea how sharp its teeth and claws are.
Canny Tim – A kestrel; small and unassuming which somehow makes people forget he’s still a bird of prey with all that that entails. Are those darker bands on his tail? Don’t only females have those? You won’t live to find out <3
Zarok – Taking some inspiration from Resurrection, I want to go with a Blue Malaysian Coral Snake. It’s pretty enough to match his sense of drama and primarily eats other snakes, which works as a nod to his treachery.
Palethorn – I want his daemon to be a bulldog for no particular reason. It just seems right.
Pumpkin Witch – Capybara. Round, friend shaped and mum shaped. Need I explain further?
...and at this point my braincell finally flickered out. Additions? Arguments? Gentle requests for me to get more sleep? I’m open to them all.

Mark Laita
photography from his book SERPENTINE (ISBN 9781419706301).
The book is a collection of strikingly lit snakes against a black backdrop.
“My intention was to explore color, shape and movement, using snakes as a subject, but of course herpetologists will probably enjoy these photographs as well,” says Laita, a Los Angeles based photographer. During the making of Serpentine, Laita visited dozens of locations in the U.S. and Central America setting up studio in zoos, venom labs and to the homes and workplaces of breeders and collectors.
“I shot everything from the most venomous — an Inland Taipan — to a harmless garter snake,” says Laita. “I was bitten a few times by non-venomous species,” said Laita. “I had one venomous bite [Black Mamba], but I’m still around.”
