Today was a good day. #photodump I have a young man now. #BlackBoyJoy He’s making his own decisions. Developing his style. Handling himself responsibly, hopefully, with care and tenderness, taking time to assess and respond, instead of reacting.. He thinks he’s going to like his new school. I like how most of the teaching staff are #BlackEducators , cause that shit matters for our children. @timeoutmarketnewyork Blows our minds with #VeganFoodForNonVegans & #SweetPotTaterTots from two of the delightful variety of cuisine available. We eat ice cream under the Brooklyn sun, exploring the newly built park close by. On our impromptu post-lunch excursion, we cross paths with @staceyannchin (glowing in the afternoon sun)... ❤️ Our walk down memory’s road finds me pouring in to him about my youth in Brooklyn. I tell him about how at 18, alone on the road through the south, my bootleg #DefPoetryJam vhs tapes kept me sane and saved my life. He tells me likes her hair and asks if I can show him the videos sometime; and maybe we if we can go to Jamaica for his next birthday…. Laughing at how he thinks he so slick with that fast talk… the emerging man glimmers behind his smile for a moment. He board the B25 and I take the window seat. I tell him yes and maybe, respectively. Lying my head on his shoulder, now half an inch higher than mine, for a brief cat nap. The remainder of our bus ride home is spent in respectful silence as a squabble between some older ladies at the front of the bus, approaches fighting words. The bus driver waits. And I quiet him before he can comment. hey everyone, i’m in my last year of undergrad and i’m super worried about so much. things like: will i even graduate? am i gonna get a job? will i be successful? 

i’m trying doing a lot to make sure to prepare my future, but i’m beginning to feel burned out. any advice that i should be doing? like my responsibilities besides preparing for grad school?
