Things To Do_The AMAZING ATLAS ADVENTURE RACE
Tumblr media
I’m going to start sharing fun things to do around the grid more! I am a volunteer with Meroe Museum and I feel very passionate and dedicated to the cause of bringing the diaspora together and also teaching the true history of our people to those with eyes to see and ears to listen. The AMAZING ATLAS ADVENTURE RACE, is a unique endurance race combining problem solving skills and adventure from around the grid. Coming in December! Stay tuned for more! You can try the challenge as a solo person or a group. Earn the medal showing you completed the toughest race in SL.
All proceeds go to UHURU Programs for black girls in STEM. Tickets 3k a person, discount for groups. “WHAT IS STEM?”
glad you asked.
You've likely heard the term STEM, but what does it stand for? STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. These four fields share an emphasis on innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking. And together they make up a popular and fast-growing industry.
Most STEM workers use computers and other technology in their day-to-day jobs. Many also use the scientific method to test hypotheses and theories.

BLACK MIRROR SEASON 4 RANKING
6. Hang the DJ- I do love me some San Junipero (even hough I do think it is a TAD overrated). Hang the DJ feels like it’s tryjng to hit those same notes but it ends up feeling like a bad knockoff. I don’t think there any Black Mirror episodes that could be described as “bad” but this one just felt like one of the blandest. The acting could have been stronger and I just wish I cared about the characters more. And that ending... it just did not do it for me. C+
Tumblr media
5. Black Museum- Super, super entertaining with LOTS of crazy tech possibilities to soak in. I adored the lead girl here (Letitia Wright) but the museum owner’s (Douglas Hodge) campy performance did not work for me. This ended up reminding me of a Tales From The Darkside episode or something, it just became too silly for me. And I don’t watch Black Mirror for the silliness.... B
Tumblr media
4. USS Callister- I just thought this one was pretty overhyped. Yes it was good and definitely well-acted but I do feel like everything played out kind of predictably. Again, maybe a little too campy for my own taste. I like Black Mirror at its bleakest, so my top three should be no surprise. B+
Tumblr media
3. Arkangel- this was a fantastic mother-daughter drama and an episode that really, really made my heart ache. The whole idea behind the technology used is something I can really see appealing to mothers, even if it’s disgustingly privacy-intruding. Amazing performances, especially by Rosemarie DeWitt and equally good direction by Jodi Foster. A-
Tumblr media
2. Metalhead- I thing this is Black Mirror at its best. We have a kickass female lead (Maxine Peake), impressive camerawork and... it’s just plain terrifying. A
Tumblr media
1. Crocodile-Of course I’m a nasty bitch, So the most polarizing episode is clearly my favorite. This is a sick little story that hit me harder than any Black Mirror episode ever has. The Icelandic scenery is literally breathtaking; the cinematography is masterful; award-worthy acting from everyone on a screen; and there is an air of Kubrick throughout. This felt like a movie to me, it was so well crafted. The heightening of the crazy shit our main character Mia does (Andrea Riseborough- OH MY GOD is she good...) to avoid a past crime from being exposed is insane. And the pair of sick twist that closes the episode are purely evil, even if its over-the-top. As a Yorgos Lanthimos megafan, this is just what I wanted and needed. A+
Tumblr media
On a final note, Black Mirror is an increasingly popular and appreciated show. Please check it out if you haven’t already!

Summarizing Black Mirror Season 4 Episodes For Dummies
*Spoilers Below*
1. USS Callister- Star Trek in the mind of a kid that thinks the public sandbox is just his. Starring a guy you swore was Matt Damon until the last 10 minutes of the episode.
2. Arkangel- Let. Your. Fucking. Kid. Live... even if the daughter turns out to be a pregnant coke head.
3. Crocodile- The "woulda, coulda, shoulda" story.
First five minutes- "shoulda called the police."
Last five minutes- "shoulda killed the guinea pig."
Overview: You woulda not have been in this situation if you called the police like you coulda/shoulda.
4. Hang the DJ- The Truman Show but with sex.
5. Metalhead- The Hunger Games + iRobot + The Resident Evil movies= the least admired episode. Who would've knew?
6. Black Museum- The "Oh, the Klan is not gonna like this one" episode aka "Getta Jade" episode aka San Junipero is fucking SHOOK.
Apart from this being jokes and should be considered just that, this season of Black Mirror was truly stellar. From the cinematography, to the subtle details in the props, this season didn't disappoint.

AAAM 2017: The Global Network of Black Museums and Cultural Institutions
Tumblr media
Photo: Gathering of Pioneers, Detriot, 1978, Courtesy of the Archives and Research Library of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
In Detroit in 1978, leaders of African American Museums, including Chicago's Margaret Burroughs (seated, center), and the Smithsonian's John Kinard (standing, second from left), formed the African American Museum Association, later renamed the Association of African American Museums (AAAM). Today, AAAM serves the interests and needs of black museums and cultural institutions around the world.

The services provided by AAAM enhance the ability of those museums to serve the needs and interests of persons of African Ancestry and those who wish to know more about the art, history, and culture of African –derived communities. Association member organizations include cultural organizations, historical societies, and museums that collect, preserve, and exhibit objects valuable to art, history, and science, in addition to educational institutions, research agencies, and cultural centers which promote the shared cultural history of this field.
AAAM works as an advocate for the interests of its membership, and seeks to strengthen member institutions through improved communication, shared resources, training, annual conferences, technical aid and assistance, and through fund raising guidance. The Association also provides services supportive for the professional needs of its membership through newsletters, placement bureaus, networking opportunities, and professional development.
Tumblr media
Our Museum is honored to host the AAAMs 39th Annual Conference from July 31–Aug. 4th. This conference brings together over 500 leaders of African American and African-descent museums and cultural centers from across the country, the Caribbean and Latin America to engage in a series of academic sessions, speakers, authors’ dialogues and visits to cultural institutions around the Washington area.
