Bayard Rustin
Back when I was working as an archivist at the American Jewish Historical Society at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan, one of the most interesting figures I had the pleasure of learning about was proudly and publicly gay Civil Rights activist, advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King, and firm believer in the importance of Black and Jewish American communal solidarity: Bayard Rustin.

Check out the small, but fascinating collection here! The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture highly recommends this study of Mr. Rustin, and the NMAAHC has a fantastic bio here, with a link to further collections materials. I also highly recommend taking a look at some of the photos and related collections held by the Library of Congress.
As some of you may know, a well-received biopic of this fascinating figure was recently released. And incidentally, my dear friend and DC-based actor, Emily Gilson, had a small, but impactful role in the film as "Little Rock White Girl."
Check it out! Or at least, check out some of these fantastic collections.

In an earlier post, you mentioned that you weren’t going to do any lion swapping in your VLD Rewrite.
So, I’m assuming the means Shiro also gets to keep his Bayard.
Do you have any ideas for what form Shiro’s Bayard will take?
I did say that, yea !! I've since played with the idea of maybe having some instances where someone else will pilot a different lion for Plot, but it won't be permanent, and it won't be the same as the Bond (tm) that the lion has with her paladin. but I digress <3
I have sooooo many thoughts about shiro's bayard <3 I've always LOVED the hc that his bayard takes the form of a shield so at the moment that's my primary idea, but I also think it'd be cool if he had a few alternate forms later on (in fact, I'm planning on giving Everyone a few alternate forms as they continue to develop their skills) and ngl ngl ngl I am thinking sooo so hard about polearms. so very incredibly hard.

Thoughts on Netflix's Rustin
I watched Rustin over the weekend. I really liked it Colman Domingo was fantastic and deserves his nominations. The film focuses on the conception and development of the 1963 march on Washington DC and how Bayard Rustin's involvement was downplayed because he was an unashamed gay man. One character is supposedly mostly made up, Rustin's main love interest. I think they did think to give Rustin a black love interest, I don't know if he was interested in black men, but the two known long term partners he had were white. But it also shows what closeted black men of the time went through. There is a white staffer that Rustin has a passing fling with, but he's more into Bayard than Bayard is into him.
Also, there's a portrayal of baby John Lewis
It makes me want to be a low key modern day Rustin. Something to aspire to.

Not quite finished yet, but let's start the new year with a slayin'
Brother Falk Schwarzwald, youngest Imperial Fists Company Champion in five hundred years. He earned several commendations during two tours with the Ordo Xenos' Deathwatch Chapter, under the command of Lord Inquisitor Marion herself. There, he became extraordinarily skilled at executing the hated greenskin, leading assassination raids against Ork Warbosses. He also became close friends with several squadmates, a smiling Raven Guard who gifted him a white Aquila Rosary, a kind-hearted Space Wolf who taught him to always keep a loaded pistol close, and a young Black Templar named Mordred who showed him the value of chaining his sword to his wrist, explaining simply; " You can't loose your weapon if you can't loose your weapon... cousin."
