This was the second year they’d celebrate Renji’s birthday while together. Byakuya had made some notes after last time, as well as about what he had observed during their time together. He had learned that Renji had a difficult time accepting gifts. This was obviously something the other should work on, but Byakuya thought (maybe) it would be easier for him to accept a smaller gift. At the same time, he didn’t wish to gift him something useless. His choice had fallen on something small, yet practical.
He presented the gift to him first thing in the morning, when they met at the office. A box wrapped in white paper. “Happy birthday.” He told him. He hoped Renji had assumed he’d remember the day - and that he also expected a present. He should expect one. Their fingers touched when Byakuya handed him the gift. He did that on purpose.
Once the paper was torn off, Renji could open the box. Inside, he would find seven small pieces of fabric. They were meant for him to tie his hair up with, instead of the ( in Byakuya’s opinion ) not-so-nice hairbands he currently used. The fabric was expensive. “One for each day of the week.” Byakuya explained to him. They were all different patterns, but the colors were all matching in black, red and gold. He picked one out of the box for him. Then he reached up and undid Renji’s hair, letting it all fall down his shoulders. He looked at him for a moment, as always finding him beautiful. Then he gathered all the hair up again, gently. Carefully. He pulled it all back in a ponytail and secured it with tying the new hairband with a complex knot. Fondly, he ran his fingers through the other’s hair one more time. Beautiful. Renji didn’t need to know that at some point, Byakuya would take him to the tailor to have yukata made for him - in these fabrics. It was best not to overwhelm him.
--- He had expected a gift, since Byakuya had given him one last year as well. He did not know what to expect, but he hoped it wasn't too extravagant. He feared that, maybe, since they were now publicly together, it wouldn't stop Byakuya from going all out. Expenses certainly wouldn't stop him. Renji still found it difficult to wrap his head around his captain's wealth sometimes.
At least this time he won't feel so guilty receiving something for 'no reason'. A birthday was meant to be celebrated, right? Especially by the ones you love. And, he supposed, most people would say, a birthday was a reason. He'd really grown quite a lot, he thought, in accepting gifts from his superior. He only really still struggled with unexpected gifts; things people gave him with no discernable reason, because those still evoked some feeling of guilt in him, as though he now owed a debt.
He grinned when Byakuya greeted him and handed him a wrapped box. Their hands lingered a moment, and that already brought enough warmth to Renji's face. He loved those little shows of intimacy. He loved not feeling worried someone might see.
"Thank you." He told him, tearing off the paper with a smile. When he pulled the lid from the box, those fabrics shone up at him brightly. When he moved the box a little he could see it shimmer prettily. His lips had parted in awe, but before he could say anything, Byakuya was already explaining, and taking a piece of fabric { beautiful swirls of black, red and gold } out of the package and pulling out Renji's old ratty, faded-red hair tie. His hair brushed past his face as it fell down, and he lowered his gaze, feeling slightly bashful that his captain was tying his hair in such an open, public place. He'd only ever done it in the privacy of his bedroom. Somehow, it seemed awfully intimate.
He could tell Byakuya wasn't simply knotting it to hold his hair, but was doing something intricate to it. There is no doubt in Renji's mind that it'd look very pretty. Noble, even.. Maybe..
Maybe if he begun wearing more expensive things he'd look the part more. He might at least look worthy of Kuchiki Byakuya's love and affection. He ran his fingers across the remaining set of six hairties, each more beautiful than the next. "They're really beautiful, taichou.. I'll treasure them forever." He smiled and looked back up at his captain just as he ran his fingers through his ponytail one last time. The officedoor was open, but no one was there, so.. Renji leaned down a little and kissed him on the lips { just a peck, really }.

but he lets him go ahead and rattle off facts that nobody asked for
Mike Collins whistles anytime Jennifer Connelly comes on screen
instead of mourning the loss of Goose at the end, Mike and McDivitt are the ones saying "well, what he could've done was ..."
or "if it we're me, and i'm not saying it would be, but..."
Frank can't stand the sad scenes bc we all know he's just a softie
Jim Lovell is beyond happy when Maverick and Ice Man finally become friends

And she made a White Chocolate Mocha in my Red (Taylor's Version) mug from the #TSxCapitalOne Sweepstakes! It was good. lol. (Coffee Coffee Coffee!! 😉) My family & I went to dinner at Buffet Palace! B/c I love Chinese food. 😊 (I had 2 plates plus dessert but I only got a picture of the first lol) My fortune cookie said "Time is wealth. Especially time spent with your lawyer." ???? Lol. XD We were so stuffed afterwards, we almost didn't have for the delicious cookies & cream cake w/ white chocolate pudding frosting my sister made me! But, we had a little bit! Lol. My mom made me this little pouch (that could also be a little pillow if I want) that she embroidered w/ an owl! (I don't know if you know this, but I love owls) I even wore my new owl necklace & bracelet for the first time. 😊 I bought them as a birthday gift to myself. (Bought myself a whole outfit, actually, minus shoes lol, but I didn't get a full outfit pic lol) And of course, Alex (@crystaliskandarart) was the first to wish me happy birthday at exactly midnight! Headcanons for being an actress in top gun?
( I recently started to watch top gun.)
Top Gun references are everywhere tbh haha
this is not in my fandoms list, but since I've known you forever now, I guess I'll try writing for it just for today?
Being An Actress in Top Gun (1986):
you arrive on set to film one of the beach scenes as an extra
you weren't really sure what to expect
the costume department gave you a very form fitting onepiece
a little too snug for your taste
you stuck with the other extras on set
there weren't any trailers or dressing rooms for you to sit down in
so the warm California beach sand was the next best thing
you were really glad that you brought a book to read
otherwise you would be waiting hours just to get a couple shots
you weren't betting on seeing many of the stars of the movie
in fact, you were pretty surprised when you saw Tom Cruise and Anthony Edwards walk out on to the beach
they commenced a game of beach volleyball
obviously both were tired of waiting to shoot as well
you only watched them a while before returning to your book
suddenly you felt the thud of a volleyball on the back of your head
you turn around
ready to cuss out whoever decided to throw something at you
instead, you see Anthony coming towards you
"oh heck!" he giggles awkwardly, "i'm so so sorry!"
he asks if you're ok and you hand back the volleyball
"I think I'm alright.."
"Are you sure?" he asks, obviously embarrassed
you nod yes
"I'm Anthony, by the way," he says, extending his hand
you shake it and tell him your name
"Wanna play some volleyball with us? It'll make the time go by faster!" he tries to convince you
you agree and get a couple of the extras to join you on the sand
turns out that you have a wickedly good serve
it was a fun game and your team totally won
the film crew even decided to film some of the match
it was considered for some parts of the Top Gun movie
some of it is still in the backlogs of the film studio today :)
