It’s my betrotheds @aorryn47 birthday today. And observing our time honored tradition we are starting every sentence with “birthday”.
So when they wake up and try to cop a feel it’s “birthday boobs” and when I smack their hand away I said, “birthday boundaries”. When they found out our favorite bakery is closed today it was, “birthday sadness.”
But my favorite so far was when they went to wash off an egg in the sink (we get farm eggs from my mom that often need a rinse). The shell was so delicate it cracked open in their hands, the egg gushing away under the tap water. They looked up at me with heartbroken eyes and whispered, “birthday violence.”
Today, as you know, is my birthday. Yeah, yeah, “Happy Birthday to me and all that jazz.” But I really want to say, “Good game.” Thanks for letting me stick around another year. You didn’t have to but you did. So, again, thanks.
P.S. Check out this crab pen that I got for my birthday. It’s stinkin’ cute.
It’s the silly little things like this that make life worthy sticking around for.
Sometimes I... worry? fret? over the things that are "wrong" with me and how I've changed over the years as I discovered/accepted/treated those things (as needed)....
But then I think about where I'd be right now if I never knew and how painful THAT existence would be (physically, mentally, emotionally)...
I'm glad for the me I was, the me I am, and I can't wait to see the me I'll be
African Happy Birthday Celebrations: A Joyous Cultural Tradition
In many African cultures, the celebration of a birthday is a vibrant and significant event, deeply rooted in tradition and community. Unlike the Western focus on individual birthdays, African happy birthday celebrations often encompass the entire community, embracing themes of unity, gratitude, and familial ties.
