I was in the forest, just about to leave, when she landed several meters in front of me, on top of a fence. I stopped walking and just stared in awe; she was incredible. Her belly was vivid red, like the kind of dark red you would notice from far away, and her wings were the most gorgeous blue, the royal dark blue, that is so rare seen in animals.
She noticed me, and before I could try and take a picture, flew off. But the flying, it was fluttering, she was flying in the way hummingbirds do! You could see a vivid blue shine of her wings, it was magical.
I've been trying to figure out which bird this was, because it was so unique and beautiful, but I had no luck. The color scheme fits the 'Chestnut Bellied Rock Thrush' (on the picture:)
That feels a lot like what I've seen, but this bird doesn't live in Europe, it's a southern Asian bird. I also looked up hummingbirds and I don't think we have any of that either.
I'm really curious, does anyone know what bird it might be, with those colors? I haven't seen her back, but the belly was super bright red, and the wings were strongly blue, to the point where you could see a blue blur when she fluttered her wings, a lot like a hummingbird would. I've checked out a 'bluebird' too, but she doesn't live here either.
https://www.tumblr.com/golurkart/745308913003593728 thought about tagging a big bird blog in this post but didn't wanna so i searched for a Bird ID Blog instead. do you have any idea what this homonculus is
Anyone good at bird ID? For a week or so, I've been taking pics of this little fellow, and Merlin is giving me nothing. But if I try to get a closer shot the bird flies away.
I think it's a Carolina Chickadee but I'm new at this stuff.
Apologies for the shaky camera but this strange bird was in my yard rooting for bugs in the ground. Big, brown with red on the back of his head, a black triangle like Superman on his chest, and in the sun his wings looked like an olive-green-brown. Big dark beak. Never seen anything like it before. Anyone have any ideas?
This has to be a young-ish male house Sparrow right ???? Out of all the birds we have here, and considering the beak and the plumage, that's the only thing I can think of... But he sure looks pale, doesn't he :0
He also has the little white dot behind his eye (not pictured, too man branches) so I'm influences by that too :0
Also there were a lot of tree sparrows around and those lil guys kept getting spooked by everything, so getting any pictures of... Anything... Was super hard :0 and I'm 100% certain those are tree sparrows :3
