Tahu Mistika - Red Version

In my eyes, Tahu had the best visual presence of the Toa Mistika and was the real standout Toa of the wave. That said, the Metru red coloring always made it harder for me to see him as a continuation in the Toa Nuva of Fire’s proud legacy of sets. I would have loved to have added orange back to his color scheme but no BIONICLE limbs were ever produced in orange beyond 2002.

So instead I’ve opted to colorswap the Metru red elements for their brighter Mata red counterparts! This, of course, presented challenges with the mask and feet, but there’s an easy solution there.

There are a few further modifications to add the Nuva chest armor. I feel this was a necessary adjustment to fill in the shape of his armor. As well, I added the obligatory Roborider heads to his shins and added some further engine details to his thrusters. His hips now also feature a grated slope element (61409). This was a part first introduced in 2008 in Exo Force and Agents subthemes and typically only came in dark bluish gray or lime at the time. I always wanted to get the part in red for various creations back in the day, but it was never available to me. All these years later, I’ve finally found occasion to use it on a creation!

I’ve also paired him with Photok here to add a little of that missing orange armor to his color scheme.

Another #wildshoreswednesday was happily had by these villagers of Pakaru Nui, where they made the most out of the sunny weather to go treasure hunting! Salina dove into the sea to find a decorated lever that Vite used to have on one of his vehicles before The Erosion, Lancia and Arzo together dug up buried treasure and Cina was shocked to see that Strato discovered a superconductive crystal in a cave which she can use for repairing machinery. Whether something is sentimental, scarce or practical for completing a task, everyone has their own sense of value in things and have different definitions of "treasure". What's something you value? At last, #wildshoreswednesday is all about the #squadgoals Villagers of Pakaru Nui include (from left to right) Cina the electrician, armed with her Wired Wrench, Vite the zip line engineer holding his Root Ripper, the archaeologist with his Extractor tool and carrying case, Lancia the metal smith with her twin Shatter Sticks, Salina the chemist with her Water Wanderer and lastly Arzo the levee builder holding a Shale Shovel. While these characters look familiar, I have revised their feet, arm and torso designs to have more points of articulation, diversify their appearance from each other and add attachment points to their backs to clip on their unique tools. For #mocmonday I wanted to showcase my gigantic Krekka 2.0 creation based on the BIONICLE brute from the Metru Nui era. After being supercharged with evil to recover from mortal wounds, Krekka and his weapons grew in size and power, now towering over his peers. Here I have both my new version of his enlarged head with narrowed golden eyes vs a pair of red eyes more accurate to his original face, which by their circular shape do not come across as menacing.
