Tahu Mistika - Red Version
In my eyes, Tahu had the best visual presence of the Toa Mistika and was the real standout Toa of the wave. That said, the Metru red coloring always made it harder for me to see him as a continuation in the Toa Nuva of Fire’s proud legacy of sets. I would have loved to have added orange back to his color scheme but no BIONICLE limbs were ever produced in orange beyond 2002.
So instead I’ve opted to colorswap the Metru red elements for their brighter Mata red counterparts! This, of course, presented challenges with the mask and feet, but there’s an easy solution there.
There are a few further modifications to add the Nuva chest armor. I feel this was a necessary adjustment to fill in the shape of his armor. As well, I added the obligatory Roborider heads to his shins and added some further engine details to his thrusters. His hips now also feature a grated slope element (61409). This was a part first introduced in 2008 in Exo Force and Agents subthemes and typically only came in dark bluish gray or lime at the time. I always wanted to get the part in red for various creations back in the day, but it was never available to me. All these years later, I’ve finally found occasion to use it on a creation!
I’ve also paired him with Photok here to add a little of that missing orange armor to his color scheme.

Ice Planet Stormer
“Calling all heroes, it’s Hero February!”
Inspired by ben.cossy’s Ice Planet Stormer MOC released last year and the recent boom in Ice Planet 2002 nostalgia, I’m happy to finally release Ice Planet Stormer from his cryosleep!
This creation is Alpha Leader Stormer, refitted for a Brain Attack mission in the frozen wastes of a mysterious planet far from the Makuro Belt. Amidst the glacier barrens and tundra bluffs of this distant world, the evil brains have been spotted on another scheme!
For years now I’ve wanted to attach the Nexo Knights sword as a wristblade for a hero, and Stormer here was the perfect candidate! While the end result did involve some part modification, I think it’s a perfect Ice Planet substitute for his Brain Attack sword!
I was also keen to keep the original blue/black/trans-orange color scheme, but this gave me quite a few problems with the torso, which was colorlocked in pearl dark gray and flat silver and so didn’t give me many options. Fortunately, I was able to dye the part black! Paired with some blue shoulder addons I got from a bootleg set, he’s geared up and ready to open up a can of brain freeze!

LEGO Marvel Large Action Figure: Captain America
Imagine a world where the budget of the ccbs Star Wars large action figures had instead been funneled towards MCU figures? You know, the figures that are generally designed to be bright and visually appealing and toy sales?
Love the MCU or hate it, I guarantee that this ccbs style Captain America figure in 2016 would've sold better than "75536 Range Trooper" or most other buildable Star Wars figures that we got.

Kopaka Phantoka STARs
I always loved the BIONICLE STARs line. The capacity to build canister sets in miniature scale is more appealing to me then the thought of chibis or brickheadz. Here we have Kopaka Phantoka in that minimized scale.
Able to adjust his wings and fire his Midak Skyblaster, I’m very happy with the end result. Some more silver needed to be added to balance the wings and the lightsaber bar in the mask proved too disproportionate for a figure of this scale. Regardless I think he looks great and I’m really glad I was able to achieve such an articulated result!

Onua Mistika STARs
I always loved the BIONICLE STARs line. Here we have Onua Mistika in that minimized scale.
Able to adjust his wing tips and fire his Nynrah Ghostblaster, I’m very happy with the end result. I’ve often been criticised for simple builds, especially when it comes to my STARs creations. This is my attempt to use alternate parts and the broader style of Av-Matoran/Agori torso on one of my creations.
It seems my collection of Adaptive Onua custom figures is growing!

Malum STARs
Malum has always been my favorite of the original wave of Glatorian. I like him so much that I wrote a whole chapter book about him! Be sure to check out Way of the Lawless!
When it came to imagining his STARS form, he really needed the larger style of torso. I was deeply conflicted about giving him the dark red version but ultimately decided the gray version is truer to his original set, which contained plenty of gray already. I also made the decision to give him hands this time around and made some food corrections. If I could change one thing, it would be attaching the claws from the sides but the shape of the part itself doesn’t allow for that connection. I think Malum would’ve made a fantastic counterpoint to STARS Gresh in 2010, though I understand the desire to make the Skrall a massable adversary.

Vastus STARs
My favorite Glatorian here minimised in STARs form. Similar build to Gelu but he’s rocking the lime and dark green color combination. I’m also really happy with how the Venom Talon came out in this scale.

Hydraxon Revamp
Fantastic titan set, Hydraxon stuck out to me for all the right reasons. I loved his color scheme and the attachment of his various knives. His wrists blades especially always made for a dynamic shape and the use of Exo Force arms as fingers informs LEGO sets to this day.
That said, there’s always room to build. I reinforced his upper torso with a LEGO Sports hockey torso and managed to incorporate a heartlight. I always felt that the use of the Rahkshi legs made the original build seem disproportionate so I’ve carried over the more muscular design of the arms. Now there’s room for lots of posing options!

Classic Jaller
The Retro Mahri collab project came and it spawned some fantastic redesigns of the Toa Mahri using classic TECHNIC and early BIONICLE parts. The standout of the collab for me personally was the Retro Jaller, as built by SIlvakTheMocist. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to build him myself.

Merra
A Ga-Matoran archer from the Northern Continent.
Whilst in her village, Merra sprouted a budding interest in combat and engineering, often building motors for fishing boats and commencing formal combat training under the instruction of her local Toa. At this time in her life, she aspired to one day reach Metru Nui and lend her hand as a mechanic in Le-Metru. She was often found along the outskirts of her neighboring Matoran settlement, honing her agility by swinging through trees and mastering the terrain.
She wears Exota’s great Towuru, available on Shapeways.

Malruuk
Renowned Nynrah Ghost and leader of a prominent crafting guild. Malruuk made a name for himself with early success inventing the firing mechanism that would be later used by other Fe-Matoran crafters in the Zamor Launcher. He was ruthless in his practice and often absorbed entire operations into his guild.
During the Reign of Shadows, he openly began creating weapons for the armies of Makuta, commissioning new Exo-Toa and Protosteel molds to equip the Rahkshi armies invading the rest of the universe. Ethically ambiguous and morally dubious, Malruuk had a historic ability to always back the winning side, be they Makuta, Dark Hunter, or Vortixx.
Malruuk uses a Matoran body design I’ve been tinkering with since 2011. His mask is a noble Kadin designed by Exota Forge.

Return to Tumblr
Thank you all for the support as I return to Tumblr!
I paused my activity on the site in 2020 as I wasn’t able to access my studio to take any new photos during the pandemic. However, around this time, I also started to notice that my posts were no longer appearing in tags and Tumblr Support weren’t very helpful at the time. This meant that my posts weren’t reaching an audience beyond my existing followers and I was seeing less and less interaction with fellow BIONICLE fans, which is the whole reason I do what I do!
I’ve been writing lots of BIONICLE fan fiction stories during that time, which can all be read on Myths and Legacy.
I completed Melding Teridax and restored Toa Mata Nui. I also completed my Quest for the Masks trading card collection (base deck) and acquired all of the collectible Kanohi/Krana!
I launched an instagram account
I also got engaged and got a cat! Equally important.
I will be striving to get my account listed in tags once again. Please do let me know what I’ve missed in the past three years!
