@small-godds submitted: Hi again! Today, as we were taking groceries in, my sister spotted this little guy hitching a ride on one of the bags! I was hoping you could help identify this little besnouted beast. I was thinking some kind of weevil, maybe an alfalfa weevil, but I'm nowhere near confident enough to say for certain.
Found in [removed] (please remove location)
If my eye is good and it is a weevil I'll be quite excited, it's the second ever time I've spotted one of my favourite bugs :D thanks for your time, and for running such a delightful blog
Hello! Yes, this is a broad-nosed weevil. I couldn't say which species, though, as there are too many similar-looking ones in your area. I will ID it as...a friend :')

📂 Anything on Vandran?
send me a 📂 (or, just "folder") to hear about a WIP I love but am probably never going to finish writing or an idea I think about a writing lot but am probably never going to get around to
I had this idea, and wrote a bit of it, of a fic where Vandran, who had retired to a cottage somewhere out of the way in the Coast, was asked to shelter Essek for a little bit as a favor to Fjord and Jester. The two of them tolerate one another, for the most part in silence and patience.
The plot was nebulous, but the idea I had was that Essek accidentally draws the attention of folk from Darktow when he goes into the nearest town disguised as Vandran (thinking nothing of it), and he quickly learns that Vandran is hiding as much as he is.
Essek watched Leandra, as her full name was, investigate the folds of his cloak as it hung over the back of a chair. There was nothing of interest in its pockets, but he imagined it smelled quite exciting for a dog. She also seemed to enjoy lifting its heavy folds with her long nose. Quite the besnouted beast, she was, and more leg and ribcage than anything else.
Vandran finally noticed her as well. “Leave it alone, Lee.”
She obeyed and busied herself searching for crumbs under the table instead.
“She is a beautiful creature.”
“She is a dog,” Vandran sighed.
This tiny bit was also fun:
"I could cast something, so you do not have to row."
"I like to do it. But that's kind of you."
A beat.
"It's quiet."
"Could be quieter."
Essek took the hint.
