HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023: THE YEAR OF PRACTICING THE WISDOM OF NO ESCAPE

Happy New Year!

I rang in one of my first intentions for 2023 by reading Pema Chodron’s, “The Wisdom of No Escape: and the Path of Loving Kindness” and attending Rev. angel Kyodo williams’ NYE sit + Dance: release the old, make way for liberation. I experienced a quiet and beautifully supportive meditation with a diverse group of several hundred people. It was my first time meditating on New Year’s Eve. It was a courageous, clarifying, and cleansing way to enter 2023. Gratitude.

Since I've been in such an art rock mood lately, I'd be remise if I didn't post Vuvuzela, a sort of one-off follow up project to Josh Benash's Kiss Kiss.

It's haunting, discordant, and sweet, and features Stephanie Babirak on harp/additional vocals.

So I have just watched London has fallen for the god knows how many times, and was just thinking about the scene where Asher has a sword to his head as the cameras roll. Despite the ever long days since she’d even thought to utter the simplest of phrases in latin, she could have picked it anywhere. Even in the hum of bar slowly winding down in the early hours of the morning following the end of her shift. It turned something in her stomach, a hint of jealousy that she could only just swallow back without retort. All too few people knew that the Grey girl lived without what each of her siblings thrived in, a burning itch in her fingertips like an addict on the mend tiptoeing the precipice of withdrawals.
