Imagine you live in pelican town.
The new farmer has been here a couple weeks now and seems to be settling in, except... He's picking the weirdest friend choices. Like sure it's not weird to befriend the local fisherman, especially when he has an interest in fishing himself, but you're pretty sure you've seen him rooting through the Saloon's garbage with the local homeless man. As well, he keeps harassing the poor guy who works at Joja even though you KNOW he doesn't want to be friends with him.
And since you're on the topic of weirdness, isn't it odd he seemingly runs everywhere at a full sprint? Or just... Eats entire raw fish while fishing for "energy reasons"...
...
Despite all that, it's too early to call him off putting or anything... He has been engaging in town traditions, and he's started helping out with the old community centre. He's probably like the rest of you. Someone with a few quirks, that will fit in with the valley great!
Surely he can't get any weirder... Right?

Okay it's been a hot minute since I thought about the first of my Stardew Valley OCs, Cas (even though I made a whole ass sideblog for her that I ended up never using)
But more importantly, I am thinking of an AU. Where some magic shit goes bad & she gets stuck in a time loop (me? Thinking about time loops? What a surprise)
So for context, when I first played SDV it was on my laptop. I think in my very first file I was dating Sebastian, then lost interest in the game. Later I came back & made a new file. After a little while I ended up adding mods (mostly quality of life like faster walking speed, infinite health/stamina, not passing out at 2am, but I think the thing that ultimately screwed me was no crows. For some reason that mod did not play well with other mods). I married Leah in spring of year 2, as soon as I could. And then like 3 days later, the game crashed & the file is corrupted. I was upset of course, deleted a bunch of mods (I had so many mods y'all, though some of them were for hair/clothes bc I'm a sucker for dress up shit). Also at some point before the crash I made my OC Cas & changed the file data to be her.
I started a new save file & this time I went for Harvey (still playing as Cas). Once again, over that first winter I finally got enough hearts so as soon as that first spring of year 2 rain hit, I bought a mermaid pendant.
And then 3 days after marrying Harvey, the game crashed. File corrupted.
At this point I had logged roughly 80 hours across those files & I was so pissed off at losing ANOTHER save file. I gave up.
Flash forward to later I decide to buy the game on my phone. I don't think I got through year 1 before losing interest.
Then I get it for the switch one summer. I play as Cadmus. I play for a while but can't decide who to marry. Eventually put down the game. Then sometime later I find out my brother has sdv on the switch so we start a co-op together, thus my making another OC, Bea.
Recently my brother was like "hey we should start playing stardew again" so we picked up that co-op file, I decide that I'm gonna marry Leah. I also decided after he had enough for the day that I wanted to keep playing so I opened up the Cadmus save file.
Initially I was thinking that for this file, I wanted to marry someone other than Leah or Harvey. My brother suggests Sebastian, & I go with it (in part because back when I first played I was considering him, & also he looks like he could be Anubis's emo brother so why not put Cadmus with the purple haired emo bangs guy?).
But now I'm almost a year in marriage with Sebastian & I miss Harvey. Very much. Like, I'm heavily considering saving up to divorce Sebastian (and then saving up more to erase his memory that we were ever married bc I don't want him to be mad 😔). SO ANYWAY NOW WE GET TO THE POINT
Cas gets a time loop AU. Idk maybe the wizard's ex-wife decides to curse her for sneaking into her house to steal back the magic ink. 3 days after marrying Harvey, Cas gets sent back to her first day moving into Pelican Town. The first reset, she's just like "wtf is happening". She goes to the wizard about it but he thinks she's just crazy. She wonders if maybe it was all a dream so she goes on like normal. She marries Harvey again. 3 days later she gets reset. Now she KNOWS something magical is going on. She insists to Rasmodius that she has lived here for a couple years now. He's like "okay if both times it happened 3 days after marrying the doctor, which happened on a specific day, marry him on a different day?". So she speedruns it & manages to marry him fall year 1 (idk offhand if this is possible but I don't see why not). 3 days later, another reset. First person she goes to is Rasmodius. She has no proof of what's happening but he is getting a weird magical vibe off of her. They on trying to figure this shit out & in the meantime, Cas CANNOT give Harvey a mermaid pendant.
But one day Harvey decides to propose, and Cas can't bear to say no to him.
She & Rasmodius are scrambling to figure out SOMETHING, even if it's just a way to gather proof that will stay despite the reset.
3 days after marrying Harvey, Cas wakes up once again in her old apartment, ready to make the drive down to the valley. She cries. She actually puts off leaving for a couple days, until she gets a letter from Rasmodius. She finally goes, & Rasmodius actually visits her at the farm. He explains that something felt off when she didn't arrive as scheduled, he checked out the farm & there was residue of time magic or something. Hella cursed vibes stuck to Cas herself. She explains everything. They decide that maybe, until they can figure out what to do, Cas shouldn't even date Harvey (or anyone for that matter, just in case). She's a social person, she loves & misses all her friends in town, she especially misses Harvey, but she needs to stay distant.
It's not till year 3 of this loop, year 3 of just being friends, of keeping everyone at arms length while still helping them out (she finally gets the chance to finish the Community Center at least) that Rasmodius realizes it's his ex-wife that put this curse on Cas. He didn't even think she was capable of such a feat! But now that he knows the source, he can work to undo the curse.
Together they're able to figure out how to undo it, but Rasmodius asks if Cas wants to start over one more time, since in this loop she's spent 3 years keeping everyone at a distance. He could make it so that he remembers everything from this loop, so that once it resets, he can immediately break the curse & Cas can live normally. She briefly considers it but ultimately decides that she's tired of starting over. She's worked so hard & doesn't want to lose it all again. Besides, it's not like the town hates her, she's just earned a reputation as a loner who helps everyone out.
I'm honestly tempted to have something terrible happen that would *make* her wanna reset one more time. Or not even terrible but "Harvey marries someone else" or "Harvey has to close up the clinic & move to Zuzu City". But I also wanna give them a happy ending.
Maybe Rasmodius's ex decides to come after Cas right after they break the curse, she gets seriously injured & is taken to the clinic.
What if, once the curse is broken, Harvey remembers all the loops? The rest of the town has no clue, but since the curse centered on Cas marrying Harvey (technically Cas marrying anyone, but she only ever married Harvey), for whatever reason he regains his memories of those past loops.
So when Cas ends up in the clinic, he freaks out & patches her up but there's this whole heartfelt thing where he's like "I suddenly felt like I had spent the last few years falling in love with you", Cas explains it. They decide right there, no mermaid pendants, that they're gonna get married. The whole town is surprised because as far as they knew, Cas and Harvey were barely even friends, now they're suddenly getting married?????
(Cas is of course super anxious during the wedding & immediately after, but 3 days pass. 4. 5. A week. She's still here. Everything is fine. They live happily ever after.)

i’ve been getting a lot of asks lately asking about what mods i use for stardew valley, and rather than just answer the same question all the time i’ve made a list of all the stardew valley mods i use. these aren’t all the mods i use, just the one’s i feel like are most asked for, if you ever see me use something that isnt on this list just lmk! if you have any further questions about the mods i use feel free to message me! (if you need help finding a CP version or an updated version of a mod im fairly good at finding them!)
Stardew Valley Expanded: a recent mod but highly recommended. a total revamp and expansion to the base game, creating a lot of new content to enjoy! it’s absolutely amazing and i recommend it to everyone.
immersive map edits: makes some edits to the game map. needs to be installed for sdv expanded to work.
farmer to florist: adds beautiful flowers to plant, as well as potted flower decor for your farm. not essential, but great for decorating!
aesthetics:
A Wittily Named Recolor: the map recolour i use. as far as i can tell it works with sdv expanded.
some building edits: the farm building mod i use!
Cuter Cellar & Cuter Coops and Barns : building edits!
better artisan goods icons & Aquilegia's Cute Item Retextures & Colored Seeds: re-textures items!
classy new interior: mod i use for furniture. here’s the CP version.
fixed mouse house: gives out little mouse friend a cute & totally fixed house!
yellog’s wood craftables + yellog’s woof fence: the mod i use that changes the appearance of wooden fences and all the craftables.
animals:
elle's Cat Replacements & elle's Dog Replacements & Elle's New Horses & Elle's New Barn Animals: self explanatory. i love their mods.
CHONKINS: some fat fucking chickens
MythicPhoenix's Mythical Hares: i use the jackalope.
more animals: using in tandem to the cat & dog recolours. lets you have more that one pet! it works fine for me though im sure it has the potential to be buggy. i currently have 4 cats and 2 dogs on my main save file!
Cat in a Coat: a wittle coat for ur cat....
character:
kisekae: a mod that adds the option to change your character’s appearance (without the wizard) also adds the possibility for hair and clothing mods! this is a replacement for the get dressed mod that no longer works.
seasonal hats: so adorable! i love this mod a lot, the flower crowns look so pretty.
npcs:
seasonal outfits: gives npcs seasonal outfits!
shane’s new job: gives shane a job at the stardrop saloon after joja shuts down.
ran’s harvest goddess: i highly recommend this mod. it adds a new npc (unfortunately replaces the wizard) the harvest goddess has her own heart events as well as is a romanceable npc. (she’s very cute and i love her.)
quality of life:
loved labels: here’s the unoffical update for the current patch.
vintage interface: recolours the user interface. idk it’s probably not necessary but matches the rest of my aesthetic. if this isnt your cup of tea just search for interface recolours on nexus mods!
tractor mod: nice for large crops or late game playing. here’s a cute recolour mod as well!
part of the community: a nice and sutble way to gain a bit of friendship with npcs.
tree transplant: i honestly would not be able to play without this mod it saves so much time.
CJB item spawner: let’s you spawn any item into your inventory. helpful if you are using custom item mods that aren’t normally available in game.

An Update! (and good news)
Hello everyone who sees this! I know it’s been a hot minute since I posted anything on here, and let me just start off with a huge apology for that. I’d like to say that I had a good reason, that life got in the way, etc. etc., but the truth is that I really don’t have a good reason. Unless you count getting burnt out on SDV and getting writer’s block to be good reasons, in which case, I guess I do?
To be honest, this is a problem that I have with a lot of things that I start doing-- I have a huge folder of half-finished or barely started fanfics sitting in my Dropbox, and a loooong list of OCs I’ve drawn for said fics. *sweats* Unfortunately, it’s really hard for me to stick to one idea for very long. Eventually my brain starts thinking up scenarios for other settings or stories, and I inevitably lose interest. So the cycle continues...
But there’s just something about SDV that I keep coming back to, and it’s probably because of the love I have for Harvest Moon and games like it. Recently I was super into a game called My Time at Portia (rough around the edges but I totally recommend it to anyone who wants Stardew 2.0, you can probably pick it up in Steam’s Winter sale this year!), which is a really cute and fun game that improves a lot on Stardew’s mechanics. But what it really lacked was the characters-- well, okay, it didn’t lack characters since there’s *quickly counts* 63 OF THEM. It lacked character depth. A lot of the characters in Portia are flat and 2-dimensional. They FEEL like NPCs in a video game, and the ones that have personality are usually because they fall very hard into an archetype. I have a lot of love for my boys Arlo and Gust, but when I think of Shane back in Stardew, I’m reminded of how much I played Stardew for the characters.
Since a good chunk of time has passed since 1.4 dropped as well, I figured it was time to give some love back to Stardew valley. New mod installations, fresh save, the most recent version of Immersive Characters - Shane (made by the fantastic @jojaqualityheadcanons, seriously go and pick it up on the Nexus).
And pretty much the instant I booted the game up, I remembered just how much I love this game. It feels like finally coming home after being away for a really long time. Of course, having Shane tell me to f*ck off when I talked to him put a huge grin on my face, and it really made me remember how far he and Ashe have come in the fic-- and just how much further they have to go. I even went and read back all that I’d written so far, and a few moments genuinely had me laughing. I still have the list of ideas I kept for their story, and I think it’s way past time I get back to writing it.
Not just for myself anymore, which is a weird feeling since I never ever share my writing with people. The amount of love that the story was getting, and still gets even now, just blows my mind. And I want to give all of you who read and follow this blog more.
But more than that, I want to thank each and every one of you. For every like, every follow, every share, every kind word. And I want to say again how sorry I am for keeping everyone waiting for the next update-- and for the length of this post! I’m working on the next chapter now, and spoilers, it’s the big day: The Stardew Valley Fair. I promise not to keep you in suspense as to how it plays out for much longer!

Ok I’m a big dumb dumb and went almost a full week without updating yeehaw
Day 147 (Friday August 7th)
I patterned and sewed all the short pile face pieces for my fursuit
Day 148 (Saturday August 8th)
I spent a lot of time in my backyard after hearing my mom talk about her marital issues and how my dad is really emotionally abusive to her. Idk what I’m supposed to do about it other than pretend it isn’t happening 😗 ✌️ then my dad brought me Arby’s for dinner and we talked a little bit about nothing. I stared at him and really LOOKED at him, as if we were strangers meeting for the first time. He looks so old now, with deepening wrinkles and whiting hair. And I thought about how I don’t really know him, and how I couldn’t picture him doing all that shitty stuff to mom. I just don’t know how to feel. I didn’t mention it to him.
Day 149 (Sunday August 9th)
I finished furring my fur suit head (aside from the neck piece. The first time I traced out all my pattern pieces, I did them all backwards. Thankfully I noticed before cutting anything out, so I just retraced everything.
Day 150 🥳 (Monday August 10th)
I finished my suit! I tried a few different methods for the eyes, and ended using a plastic folder and some vinyl material off of a binder from church. I tried using a plastic storage container lid, but it was too difficult to cut through so I gave up. I had even brought it out to the backyard to clean it off with the hose, which felt almost nostalgic. Every time I use the hose, I remember a time when I was little and all the neighborhood kids were playing in my backyard. The hose was streatched across the yard so the end was at the top of the slide, making it a water slide that ended in a big puddle. I shouted over to the other kids something about twisting the wheel thing towards my house, since that’s where the party was. Anyway I finished my suit and happy stimmed like hell when I put it on, dancing around my room and jumping back and forth to tire myself out. I took a few pictures by myself while home alone. I haven’t shown it to my mom yet because I think she’ll poke fun. My dad is very supportive and my sister is neutral about it but it feels like she’s both impressed and judging me.
Day 151 (Tuesday August 11th)
I spent the whole day outside, and I saw a bunch of wierd bugs and a frog. I joined r/whatisthisbug and had the same professor dude answer all 3 of my questions.
The first one is a white marker tussocks moth caterpillar, and the other is a freshly molted wheel bug. I also submitted pictures of a freshly molted cicada I found a few days ago, and that post got 74 upvotes :) and that frog has been in the same spot every day I go back to check. He’s very cute and may stay as long as he pleases.
Sorry for the bad picture, but I also harvested some beans from the plants in my front yard. Very satisfying to play with.
My sister and I FaceTimed our brother Eric. I showed him my fursuit and he seemed impressed. Emily then gave me her old laptop, since mine is broken rn. I joined the stardew valley discord and played multiplayer for the first time! It was really fun. I also spent forever trying to get used to using a Mac. It’s still wierd lol. At night, I was on the computer just for the sake of being on the computer just because I was so starved. Also revisited furvilla, I like breeding mini pets and making bank selling supplies.
Day 152 (Wednesday August 12)
I played stardew valley literally ALL DAY. It was great, also the prettiest farm I’ve had yet. I tend to min/max pretty dang hard in that game, so it was nice to take it easy and lay down stone paths and make fences and let someone else influence my play style. Later at night, when the 2 other people I was playing with were busy, I really want to play stardew but I didn’t want to go back to my old saves or start a new one. The save data from my recent active farm didn’t transfer over, so I revisited my very first farm. I had quit that one because STV stopped working on my home computer and I had to stop for a long time. I couldn’t get back into the fast-paced endgame on that file, so I started a new one. I think steam broke on the home computer too, so I made 2 more when I got my brothers old laptop; one new main farm and one specifically for multiplayer. Then that laptop broke. Anyway sdv rant over. It’s really fun and I want to make my friend buy it since it’s on sale right now so we can play together. I also almost bought Minecraft, but Idk how often I would play it because I’m bad at video games.
Day 153 (Thursday August 13th)
Had a wierd morning I think? I had a dream about my dad dying of a heart attack while trying to look at the stars, and then telling him about my dream while still dreaming. Eventually my mom, sister and I drove to pick up groceries and I almost made my mom cry because I’m bad at driving and she always thinks I’m about to wreck the car. She screams all the goddam time at my every mistake, so I made emily drive us home, but she made me pick up smoothie king after a terrible time in the parking garage. I had to de-stress in the backyard for a while until I decided to take a shower and start on another fursuit. My mom has just given the dog a flea bath but didn’t rinse out the fleas and I was too grossed out and skipped the shower. I worked on the head for 4.5 hours excluding breaks, listening to drawfee the whole time. I made myself dinner with Mac n cheese n steamed broccoli. I want to sell the fur suit head I’m working on rn so I can buy more fur colors and maybe make a job out of it before I head off to college.
