I NEED TO RANT ABOUT THE UNDERWORLD SAGA

No one will understand what I went through listening to the saga.

The Underworld: The Underworld is an absolutely BANGER of an opener.

The introduction to the underworld is nice, THEN BAM!

Emotional pain. You can't tell me "I took to long" IS NOT EMOTIONALLY DAMAGING! Polites hurts because we have actually met him and have seen him with Odysseus and his crew and them he became a pancake, but his mom. His mom hurt so bad.

Reminder, Polities and Odysseus' mom are singing THEIR FINAL THOUGHTS!

And Odysseus' mom is played by his IRL mom which is actually so sweet.

AND THEN RIGHT AFTER THIS EMOTIONAL MOMENT THE SONG GETS LOUD AND PICKS UP AND IT SOUNDS SO COOL!

I interpret that part as Odysseus trying to drown out all the other voices, not knowing if other's he knew were down there. Mainly Penelope because if his mother was down there, he didn't know if Penelope also died.

No Longer You: I enjoyed No Longer You. It's a big pit of foreshadow. It's also a warning to Odysseus about what's to come, but Odysseus doesn't understand.

Odysseus thinks that the person who is no longer him is an entirely different person when in reality it's still him, but he has changed beyond recognition.

This leads to the final song...

The Monster: This song is amazing. I'm not going to lie, I might like The Underworld better, but this song is also amazing.

The Monster shows Odysseus' descent from "what if I am" to "what if I become" to "I am" and "I will become" the monster. It also has him question all the actions taken against him along with his own actions.

Could the actions taken from his enemies have been for a good cause?(the cyclops avenging his sheep, Circe protecting her nymphs)

Could his actions have been monstrous?(killing a literal infant and then claiming he would do it again)

He doesn't want to lose anyone else and he would take on the form of a monster to protect everyone he cares about and make it home.

This saga is phenomenal and I adore it

I do kind of feel a bit spoilt with how the fandom pre-pandemic would share my work easily (fics getting hundreds and even thousands of notes on tumblr and on AO3 immediately and arts getting thousands of notes too). Back then, my work was so eUGH compared to the work I create now which is so much more polished and well thought out.

And now? It’s such a struggle for my art to reach even a hundred notes on this app alone and my fics take a long time to accumulate some attention on ao3. At first I thought it was because my creations have gotten WORSE lol but then I realised it’s been happening to all my friends too online.

Kinda sad tbh.

just remembered that musicals are the best form of art to ever exist ever (<- watched new starkid musical)

#ok rant!!!#i looooooooved loved loved loved npmd it was so fun #its not quite as good as twisted or tgwdlm but it was so campy and fun and funny!!! i missed that #black friday was kind of a huge miss for me i guess they tried to take a more serious and dramatic approach witch respect ofc BUT #i think they thrive most with that sort of campy foolishness as their usul works with the sprinkle of incredebly dramatic and tragic moment #and they work even better because the rest of the musicals are so silly and goofy so these moments hit you right through the heart #like twisted and twdlm #also i just missed them being funny. thats all #also loved the new addition the guy who played max was soooour good #and the girl who played shapiro i hope she'll get bigger roles in future roles her voice is beautifil #ALSOOO #Mariyah playing the main character finallyyyyy #i wanted her to be in the main role since tgwdlm and she killed it!!!#joey lauren and jon too #love them #anyway. it was really good. cant wait to see their next work #FORGOT TO ADD some songs are absolutely insane literall monster is a certified banger
