Note
Hi! Who from YTTD cast would use 200 tokens to escape alone and who wouldn't, if they magically could obtain them all?
Sara Chidouin - I feel like this would be an optional ending...so maybe depending on how you play her! The Sara's who are currently somewhere with Nao would likely be open to this option, but the Sara's who spare Kanna would not be as open minded.
Joe Tazuna - I don't think Joe would. He was hesitating to escape when he could have escaped with his best friend in the world, I don't think he could bring himself to escape if it meant abandoning Sara.
Gin Ibushi - No. Gin says in 3B that it bothers him that the group help him all the time and he can't help them back, so I really don't think he'd leave his friends to die.
Keiji Shinogi - My gut instinct says no, but I still think he would do something sleezy with the coins. Like use them to his bartering advantage and also as a way to gain trust from the others.
More Undercut
Alice Yabusame - No. Alice wouldn't abandon his allies.
Reko Yabusame - No. Reko wouldn't abandon her allies.
Nao Egokoro - I don't think she would UNLESS she had the sacrfice card in her hands and literally no other option to survive. I think she would save herself in that case, but she says herself that she didn't want to betray anyone when she had the sacrfice card. So I don't think she would leave and doom the others unless there was no other way out. Though I think would hesitate a lot if she knew that Sara couldn't come with her.
Kazumi Mishima - I can't see Mishima leaving everyone for death. Especially if Nao was alive.
Q-taro Burgerberg - I just have this weird feeling that he would.
Kai Satou - No. Because that would mean abandoning Sara, the only person he wants to protect.
Kanna Kizuchi - Her guilt in the game is surrounding the death of Kugie and not being able to save her. I couldn't see her being willing to kill other people so she could survive, and I think it would likely be a trigger to her trauma to even consider it.
Shin Tsukimi - I'm going to say no, but not because he's just such a good person. He cares enough about Kanna to throw his life away in her name. I don't think he would turn his back and leave her to die. No matter how scared he is of death.
Dolls
Ranmaru Kageyama - Actually. No. I don't think he would. The reason he wants to kill all of the other participants is to escape with Sara. He sees Sara as a friend, and he's such a lonely person that he heavily values her companionship to unhealthy levels. Therefore, I don't think he'd want a lone victory. I think he'd be much more likely to try and escape using the sacrfice card.
Naomichi Kurumada - At the start of his arc, yes. He believes in winning and thinks it's worthless to have allies. Both of those traits would push him toward the vending machine. However, once he grew to care about the other participants, I don't think anything could have convinced him to leave them for dead.
Anzu Kinashi - Maybe on accident. She would think she was getting an actual soda and then accidentally kill everyone. Oopsie. Maybe that's why she has such a high win rate.
Mai Tsurugi - She absolutely would anywhere in her arc before she stabbed Q-Taro. While Mai's not cruel by any means, she says it herself she wants to live. However, like Q-Taro, her heart tends to waiver, and I don't think would do it after her stabbing arc. Yet, I think it's decently likely she'd still consider it for a second before rejecting the idea.
Shunsuke Hayasaka - I think he'd consider it, but then come to the conclusion that he couldn't kill Gin.
Hinako Mishuku - I don't think she would since she's a ASU-NARO agent, and would likely to be told to not do anything so the games could have an actual participant win.

quick summary of ibushi's latest video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KQmatyqi6Q)
[please be aware that this is cw body image, weight loss etc]
opens vid by reflecting on wembley, that even the 11 times he was in the tokyo dome, it just isn't the same as the feeling of [being in such a big stadium in front of such a large crowd etc]. but he wasn't nervous at all.
when asked why he went to the UK via a detour to the US, he says kenny called him over to what he thought would be to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with his contract (which he signed the last time he was there, so around blood&guts). remarks how much freedom the contract gives him [in my mind it's basically a piece of paper that says "i can do whatever i want :)", signed by tony khan].
turns out, however, he's there to train to get into shape for wembley. he thinks he arrived the first day around late evening, 8 or 9, and then they trained from 10 ish to midnight. says it was pure hell.
this continues pretty much for the whole 6 days he was there. he trains, he eats lunch, he trains some more, rinse and repeat.
recounts one time he was to be picked up at 9:30, but he fell dead asleep cause he was so tired and when he woke up, [kenny? nakazawa?] had already sent him a text like "i'm downstairs, come down anytime" 15 minutes before he was to pick him up. he quickly changed and then they went to kenny's house, where he has a private gym.
likens the gym, space and equipment wise, to his secret base, so pretty incredible. they trained there for another 2 hours, together with nakazawa.
says he doesn't remember them going out just to hang out even once. all it was was hard training. the 6 days felt like they barely happened because of that.
[keep in mind that he laughs about some of this, even when he says he was essentially tricked, so make of that whatever you will]
talking about losing weight he mentions that the day before [the gleat match] he had a fever of 40 C [104 F]. he doesn't remember the match itself however, because he was in such poor shape for it [physically] that he wanted to delete it from his memory. he doesn't want to look at his body how it was back then. says he was ugly, looked like a pig.
imanari tells him to stop. ibushi just says that it wasn't really him [back then in the match; because of how much he dislikes how he looked].
but what's clearly left in his memory is the backstage comments. standing there with the other four members of his team, the atmosphere of it. it made him very nostalgic.
next they talk about an anecdote about imanari and him being "backstage" at a rizin show in late july, where it turns out ibushi overheard a fight between 2 people as he went to the restroom, and got between them to "break it up" because he didn't see security doing so. says that's how he was raised [to help out if others, just act if there is a need etc].
shortly after he got sick and couldn't move/work out [that's why he missed the gleat presser]. this is the end of part 1.

Ok, hear me out. Obviously, I'm excited about Hangman reuniting with the Elite, but that doesn't deter me from my original agenda, and that's Kota Ibushi in aew.
So what if Kota Ibushi comes in and Don's whole recruitment of Konosuke Takeshita was just his way of replacing the Bucks with versions of people he deems deserving of Kenny? It is very obvious that the story going forward is going to be the core four Elite vs Blackpool Combat Club. Will there be blood and guts or anarchy in the arena? Either way, they're going to need about 5 guys each, BCC has Mox, Claudio, Yuta, and Bryan, as of right now, the Elite is Matt, Nick, Kenny, and Hangman.
However, if they need a fifth guy, Ibushi is a free agent, and it is a very high possibility that he will go to aew before he goes anywhere else. He has confirmed that Kenny is already actively trying to get him into the company. So if he does come, that gives them their fifth guy, but what about the Blackpool Combat Club? Mox could call in Shota Umino to be their fifth guy, or they could recruit a new member. The Elite feud with BCC, they're all getting along together, a perfect little family, the Golden Elite, and that should be enough for Kenny, right?
Wrong, he still has Don in his ear, who is also now in Takeshita's ear, but we'll touch on that later. Let's say they win the BCC feud and proceed together as a faction. Lets say at Forbidden Door, Kenny and Ospreay have a rematch, with Ospreay finally coming out victorious. Kenny starts spiraling, is he still the best in the world? Is he even the best in this company? No, the best is the world champion, and with Don in his ear, he goes for the world title. At the same time, Adam Cole is also going for the world title.
Adam is furious because this is his time, he earned this moment, and he brings up the fact that Hangman earned his moment because of the Bucks. Kenny has no idea what he's talking about, so Don takes it upon himself to show him video footage. Full Gear 2021 the night the Bucks gave Hangman the okay to win the belt. For the first time since that night, Kenny sees things from a different perspective, a perspective he never thought he would see. The Bucks have always been in his corner, so why now would they choose against him?
Kenny has his match, he takes the pin again, a champion stands tall, and it once again is not him. So he goes back to the only person he can trust, Kota Ibushi. Ibushi is there for him he's the only reason he is in aew, he chose to be with him, and he'll continue to choose him. Don seizes his moment and takes advantage of the opportunity, the opportunity being for Kenny to finally abandon the Bucks and Hangman, his dead weight.
Entering Takeshita, Don has worked months to recruit him, this was always the plan he pulled every last string to get to this moment. He's been pulling strings like a puppet master to get Kenny with a faction deserving of him in Don's eyes. Don's never seen the worth of the Bucks to Kenny because, to him, they're nowhere on his level. He views Kenny as a god. Kota Ibushi and Konosuke Takeshita with Kenny Omega would be gods among men. That's exactly what Don wants Kenny to be, no matter what he's doing. He'll push the Bucks away just to achieve this goal, not caring about the damage.
Where would this leave the Bucks? Well, they've never been without Kenny, at least not in aew. There is someone they can be with, someone to protect them from Kenny, someone they chose over Kenny before. Someone like them who has been victim to Kenny's ambition and greed. Hangman is all they have, and they won't let him go, not with Kenny and Don being unstable and longing for some form of revenge.
Now you may be thinking Ibushi wouldn't allow this, right? If Kenny is too blinded by betrayal and hurt from the Bucks, who's to say he'll listen to Ibushi at all? With Don feeding Kenny the dramatics of everything that happened while he was injured, he'll have fallen right into Don's web. Forcing himself to do what he and Don view is right, and Ibushi has to go along reluctantly so. Entering the final story of the downfall and restoration of the Elite. Golden Lovers + Konosuke Takeshita vs Hungbucks.

you ever think about the picture taht appeared on the side of Don Callis' titontron where hes cradling kenny while he bleeds from his head and how it looks and is a direct copy of ivan the terrible cradling his son after he killed him out of rage. How kenny looked so innocent and almost childlike in the death portrate much like ivans son as he dies in his fathers arms, wondering why his father was angry enough to kill him if it was something he did wrong. And how unlike Ivan, Don didnt look remorceful because hes always had a rage towards kenny and the screwdriver to the head was something meaningful. And now the Bucks are talking as if Kenny was dead [the last EVPS, renaming the BTE trigger, barely mentioning him or jericho] and how maybe now, Don has finally gotten to succeed in the plan he set out years ago. He wanted to drive a wedge between kenny and the bucks and now he has...
Kenny is a ghost to the elite now, like adam cole, like kota ibushi hell, even a little like cody rhodes. but soon the ghosts will return to haunt the elite and it already started happening when the devil attacked hangman. The lot of them are linked, in love and in revenge. Theyve traded blood and evp/bte/golden triggers and heartbreaks and hotel rooms.
Until Kenny returns, he remains the beating heartbeat under the floorboards for the bucks, they just havent heard it over the sounds of their own screams

As a major role in Rise's plot wind serpent Ibushi is more of a push over than a threat
The lore says that the shrine ruins used to be ibushi's old home, but he is never seen in it. If the player was able to see him flying around the ruins after his rampage would be a cool piece of world building.
If you were able to find discarded fins on the mountain peak like the kushala shed found in the hoarfrost, would also be epic.
Tumblr media
Ibushi's mate Narwa eats him during your second encounter with the serpents, This makes them feel more alien in nature but I feel like it could have been pulled off better. Like if we were able to see Ibushi deteriorating that would have made the fight more interesting because even without the hunter's actions he was going to die soon anyway. His attack on kamura could have been to fatten up before going to mate with Narwa.
Tumblr media
While Ibushi's sacrifice made the fight feel more unique it is also based in natural world.
Female dark fishing spiders who ate their mates produce double the amount and larger babies. Spiderlings who's mother did cannibalize their mates also live 63% longer than ones who didn't.
Another reason for sexual cannibalism is that keeps the female's breeding options open, and since there are only two wind serpents I am going to go with the former.
If it wasn't for the actions of the flame of kamura, the earth would have been flooded with super charged serpent babies.
I think it would have been a cool to see ibushi's kids like as a small monster or something since: Baby elder dragons are naturally unstable and them interacting with the enviroment would have been cool to see. Xeno jiva and Gore magala are the only other young elders we get to see. Teostra and lunastra in world are a mated pair, but thats lame because young versions of them are not going to be as interesting as some other ones.
Tumblr media
Ibushi is my favorite elder dragon, it's quite a shame that he is such a push over. He was supposed to be a bringer of the apocalypse but chamelos ended up being harder than him. I find it kinda cool that valstrax only apears after he is dead, It implies they had beef.
Elder dragons as a class should feel more alien than they already do, I feel like the classic European body plan should have stayed with the fatalis trio because it makes them feel more like an outlier than the norm. Other more alien like elders always end up becoming more generic than an even weirder form. Shagaru should look more angelic to represent the ascension from hell to heaven, and Safi looks to bland for anything to come from xeno.

A Golden Lovers Timeline
PART 1: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
okay so our story starts in 2006. Kenny’s been wrestling for a while now, most recently spending a soul-crushing year in WWE’s developmental promotion Deep South Wrestling, and he’s kind of lost hope of ever finding someone who shares his vision for what wrestling can be
because to Kenny, wrestling can be anything. it’s an artform with infinite possibility, as long as you have the imagination and skill to create it
one day a friend shows Kenny a video from the japanese wrestling promotion DDT (Dramatic Dream Team). in the video he sees Kota Ibushi for the first time
and he is thunderstruck
Tumblr media
[ID: Kenny being interviewed for Begin Japanology in 2013: “And I thought: he MUST think the same way I do. He’s doing the same crazy things that I’m doing. He’s SUPER athletic. And, you know, he’s not afraid to make people laugh. A lot of people are too afraid to make themselves laugh. They’re too prideful about looking tough. And he didn’t seem to be that kind of guy. But he IS tough, so I felt like whoever this guy is, I feel like I need to meet him, I need to challenge him, and you know, let’s make some magic together in the ring. Whether it be together as partners or against each other. I felt like my destiny, if there is such a thing, was to come out here and fight Kota Ibushi.” End ID] [LINK]
(isn’t that incredible? can you imagine seeing a stranger a world away and, despite barriers of distance and language, having the certainty and determination necessary to cross an ocean just to meet?)
Kenny sets out to get ddt’s attention. He films this insane “audition” video, a falls count anywhere out-of-ring match (Kota’s specialty) at his cabin in canada [LINK]
(the match is ridiculous in the best way, at one point Mike Angel “drowns” in the lake and Kenny is like “he’s dead! count him out!” only for the supposed drown-ee to make a surprise recovery and attack before the 10 count is up)
luckily for the future of wrestling, ddt’s interest is peaked and they invite him to japan
Kenny films a short promo ahead of their match challenging Kota [LINK]
Tumblr media
[ID: screenshot from the promo, Kenny is standing in some random alley looking kind of challengingly at the camera. end ID]
(he says “ibushi” every other sentence its v cute)
their first match was August 6th, 2008 - 2 out of 3 falls, falls count anywhere [LINK]
Even tho there’s no belt on the line for this match, Kenny is still fighting for something: if he loses he may never see Kota again. Only a win will secure him his place as Kota’s rival.
Kenny starts out the match being a dick
Tumblr media
[ID: gif from their first match, it’s the start of the match and Kota extends his hand to Kenny but Kenny smacks it away before turning his back on Kota and walking to his corner of the ring. End ID]
(he’s never handled his own fears of inadequacy very well)
despite Kenny’s initial rudeness, as soon as they’re underway the alikeness of their minds and styles is immediately apparent. and both of them are clearly showing off for each other.
Tumblr media
[ID: GIF of their first match. Kenny shoulder checks Kota, who falls down and then immediately kips back up. Kota looks at Kenny and puts his hands on his hips. Kenny looks away. End. ID]
Tumblr media
[ID: GIF of their first match. Kenny fakes Kota out, making him jump for nothing, and then cockily walks up to Kota and points at his own bicep while flexing. Kota looks unimpressed. End ID]
(You can feel how much they’re enjoying this, so clearly excited to have found this new rival, eagerly anticipating what they can do together)
when asked why they don’t have singles matches against each other more often, kenny and kota have said that they’re afraid they’ll kill each other, and watching their matches you can definitely see it. this match is brutal.
In many ways they’re incredibly evenly matched, in fact how perfectly competitively compatible they are is almost the center of the match itself
Tumblr media
[ID: GIF from the match, Kenny and Kota kick each other in the head at the exact same time, perfectly in sync, and then both fall to the ground. End ID]
but there’s this underlying feeling that Kenny is the underdog here.
Kenny is putting everything he has into this match, both times Kota pins him you feel that those seconds are ripped from him after he has been completely overwhelmed. And it’s not that Kota isn’t also trying his hardest, but somehow you can already see shadows of the dynamic that will play out during their Budokan match.
Tumblr media
[ID: GIF from the match. Kenny hits Kota and it knocks Kota back a step as he shakes it off. When he hits Kenny back Kenny goes down to his knees from the force of it. Kota walks calmly after him as Kenny crawls away and gets back to his feet. End ID]
He gets just as exhausted as Kenny, but he doesn’t get exhausted in the same way. Kenny’s exhaustion makes him desperate, Kota’s doesn’t.
Despite how brutal this match is, you can tell they’re being careful with each other in a way they won’t need to be in their subsequent matches. Kenny takes a good long moment to check on Kota after michinoku driver-ing him into a pile of chairs (waiting a long beat before even trying to cover him). Kota leaves space in his attacks, pausing just too long before a strike or kick to the head to make sure Kenny is ready for it.
Tumblr media
[ID: GIF from the match. Kota is ready to kick Kenny in the head but he pauses a moment until Kenny gives a small nod. End ID]
After Kota wins Kenny just lays there and Kota comes over to kneel at his side
It’s the first time Kenny’s ever cried after a match.
Kenny fought with everything he had, but in the end he couldn’t beat Kota
Tumblr media
[ID: a screenshot of Kenny talking about this match in the 2016 NJPW documentary Second Home he’s saying: “That day I just wasn’t good enough.” end ID]
and because of his failure the possibility of a shared future was put in jeopardy
“Ibushi, or rather fighting Ibushi, was the entire purpose for my first trip to Japan in 2008. DDT had wanted a new challenger for him, a foreign archvillain, and I fit the bill. We killed each other in our first encounter (to this day it's one of my proudest matches), but it was a losing effort, and in that, I thought I'd never be seen again.” [2016 ESPN Interview with Kenny - LINK]
But something magical has happened
Kenny felt this instant connection the first moment he saw kota, and now kota feels it too, from that very first touch
"From that moment of contact in our first match together, I felt he thinks exactly as I do." [Kota Ibushi in the Omega Man: A Wrestling Love Story Documentary]
Tumblr media
[ID: Six screenshots of Kota speaking in the documentary Omega Man: A Wrestling Love Story: “Think about it. For over twenty years, we grew up in totally different cultures, totally different places, totally different environments, and yet there's one brain for two people. This is amazing! Who knew this was possible?” End ID]
And it’s not just kota
their match won Samarai TV’s match of the year award and DDT invited kenny back. kenny and kota had become friends irl by then and they begged DDT to let them fight as a tag team
“[We promised the company] big things -- not to just be two singles guys on a team but to revolutionize the team work aspect. We brainstormed and came up with all sorts of cool double team moves. Fans saw the chemistry, enjoyed the real relationship we shared. We were able to make magic as a team." [2016 ESPN Interview with Kenny]
ddt allowed it and they paired up, and they were clear about what they were about from day 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: four gifs of Kota being interviewed for the Omega Man documentary. the first one shows a newsstand with japanese pro wrestling magazines, the second two are Kota speaking while wearing a Golden Elite shirt, and the last one is a drawing of Kenny and Kota shirtless and smirking. Over these images Kota is subtitled saying: “Right at that time a Japanese Magazine called ‘Weekly Pro Wrestling’ labelled us ‘The Golden Twins.’ So when we were interviewed we told them we’re not ‘The Golden Twins.’ We’re ‘The Golden Lovers.’” End ID]
and so the Golden Lovers were born

those videos explaining MH music especially in Rise make me so fucking emotional!!!! especially the ibushi and narwa ones because mans talks about how much theyre in love and how their themes have gaps in them for each other and then the Allmother’s theme has them combined and even though Ibushi is dead at that point in the story... the Allmother’s theme contains Ibushi’s “voice” and her theme is half of Ibushi’s theme and half of Narwa’s theme.... LIKE i’m emotional about ibushi and narwa as is but when it gets to the Allmother my brain just LOSES it and i start crying because. their story is so tragic and full of longing and love and even though they were one of the only technically purposely destructive monsters they brought so much to the series!!! these dragons SPOKE in a very literal sense and when they did they were so very vocal about how much they love each other and about the rage they feel towards their adversaries who wish to keep them apart and I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! H!!!!

The Character-Based Reasons Why Sara Chidouin Has the Highest Win Likelihood
So, okay. We all know Nankidai is, first and foremost, a writer. Don’t get me wrong, the art and gameplay are nice, and the music is... there, but Your Turn to Die is fantastic because of the game’s thematic consistency and incredible characters. Which is why the idea that Sara wins so often because she is so trustworthy and is a great leader always seemed like a very barebones analysis to me. Sure, it makes sense, but what would Nankidai convey through that? There’s definitely a message about trust that is implied, that trusting makes a person stronger, but Sara does not initially trust everyone, and not everyone trusts her. Every single character has plenty of people who don’t trust them and who they don’t trust. If anyone is good at working with and trusting people, it’s Reko (even despite her conflict with Alice), who becomes the big sister to this cast of characters. (BTW: this is a really long post. If you don’t want to read it all, scroll to the end and there’s a TL;DR).
So then, for what thematic reason is Sara so likely to win?
Personally, I would attribute her survival rate to another common theme throughout the game: her balance between prioritizing her own survival and that of the rest of the players. While Sara would never truly give her Sacrifice card to someone else, it’s doubtful that she would take the Sacrifice card to save anyone either. No other character has a similar inner balance, except Kanna in the Kanna Lives route (to be perfectly honest, I have not played the Shin lives route because I’m terrified of killing Kanna, so my knowledge may be lacking). Anyway, I am going to go down the list of characters and talk about why they’re not Sara, which I know everyone is just really, really, excited to hear (please don’t fall asleep). (Also not including dolls since our information on them is very limited at the moment).
I’m starting with the absolute worst person to start with: Joe Tazuna. He may not be a candidate, but he is still a character who dies and is thus worthy of an explanation. While he may have procrasinated to reveal that he was the Sacrifice, it was never truly a battle with Joe on whether to sacrifice himself. In the end, he will always prioritize everyone else’s survival. If there was a battle, it was between whether to save Sara right then and there or let everyone else survive, and although his connection to Sara is personal, this is still not self-prioritization.
Then there’s Keiji Shinogi (yes, I’m going by the Wiki order and you can’t stop me). At first, it may seem that logical, levelheaded Keiji prioritizes himself, but in Chapter 3 1-A, he readily accepts the tag if it means saving Sara. Keiji is traumatized by his own guilt, and thus does not seem to consider himself worthy of survival, unless it means being the smart one and thinking where no one else does. He may not have traded for Sara’s Sacrifice card in the Second Main Game, but it’s unclear whether he was planning to before Kanna took it herself (or rather, tried to). I theorize now that Keiji will have a say about his own death in Chapter 3 1-B, and it will depend on whether he is able to balance his own needs with the needs of everyone else.
Which brings me to Kanna Kizuchi, who I think has the most interesting arc in this regard. When the game begins, Kanna is extremely frightened, and we don’t really get to know her priorities since she is most definitely not thinking straight. As Kanna matures and developed into her own character, in spite of Sou’s suggestions to her, we learn she prioritizes other people’s surival over her own when she attempts to take Sara’s Sacrifice card. Now, this is where the disclaimer of “I Have not Played the Shin Lives Route” comes in extra handy, because I expect criticism here. Anyway, given that Sara logically wants to survive, and there are even character reasons to vote for Kanna (her being more ready for death), it seems very likely Sara would vote for Kanna, which would explain her extremely low 2.7% survival rate. This is a reflection of Kanna’s unshaking will to prioritize others’ survival over her own. However, when Shin dies, Kanna realizes she should never again attempt to sacrifice herself (particularly because he became a role model for her), and she begins, just like Sara, to find a balance, wherein she puts herself in danger only when logically necessary, while also caring for everyone else. As a result, and this is very shaky ground, I am putting forth that there are either no routes, or very few routes, from here on out, where Kanna dies. (The one thing I will say about this theory is that it partially contradicts my theory that the game cannot be a simulation because they would not simulate Gashu’s betrayal. While my argument mainly revolves around the metanarrative of prioritization of lives other than one’s own, these themes are reflected within the non-meta of the game itself, wherein Asunaro specifically tailors who receives the Sacrifice, Keymaster, and Sage cards. As a result, Kanna’s character arc revolving around surviving the Second Main Game makes no sense if she would have been the Sacrifice in the first place if not for Gashu. Although, her low win rate could be tied to the high likelihood that she would take Sara’s Sacrifice card).
Well, now that I’m off my tangent, let’s focus on Q-Taro. At the beginning of the game, Q-Taro, while not the brightest, takes a cold and logical approach. He is willing to sacrifice literal children--Kanna and Gin--because he doesn’t think they’re useful enough. However, his character flips (pun intended) when he presses the button and takes the poison for Gin. Q-Taro realizes that trust and self-sacrifice are noble traits, and he comes to prioritize them over his own survival, as he put his life on the line when he took the poison, when a lower dosage earlier would have been the more logical way to keep him and Gin alive. Q-Taro’s arc is intersting, but unlike Kanna, who becomes a reasonable person, his values flip entirely, particularly because his change was likely planned by Asunaro.
Then you have Shin. I don’t know what he does when he lives, and I have a whole theory about Shin’s 0.0% win rate, which I will possibly write some day and link in later, but I do have some stuff to say about his own character balance. It’s obvious that because of his fear of the win rates, Shin comes to prioritize his own life, despite all irrationality therein. He manipulates and lies for his own survival, mainly out of fear. When Shin realizes that Sara killed him instead of killing Kanna, as she prioritizes emotion over logic, he realizes that maybe he could have trusted her after all, and to die with as few regrets as possible, he gives her the Joe AI. This character change sounds like it contradicts my theory, but given that, at this point, Shin was pretty much already dead, it’s simply an interesting change within him that is representative of the theme of Your Turn to Die. Furthermore, I subscribe to the theory that Shin’s low win rate is a direct result of knowing he has a low win rate (fun bootstrap paradox times (Beethoven’s Fifth plays on electric guitar)), because this causes his self-preservation.
I mentioned Reko earlier, but I think this only needs a brief explanation (important note: I have only played the Reko dies route). Prior to the Death Game, while Alice was in jail, Reko learned that the “weak” do not deserve what’s coming to them. This indirectly causes her own kindness to Nao and Kanna in the Death Game. (Come to think of it, I don’t think this one’s going to be as brief as I thought). Reko enters the death game a changed woman, who already prioritizes the lives of others, and thus is entirely imbalanced. The fact that her past self kills her is beautifaly symbolic of why she died: because she could not balance her priorities, where she only cares about others now (which is why Nao saved modern Reko), and only really cared about herself in the past (because she thought that the “weak” did not deserve her help). As a result, in an act of pure selfishness, the AI, which has Reko’s past personality, kills human Reko. If modern Reko had been more balanced, perhaps she could have explained to Nao why it would make more logical sense to save the Reko AI.
And it’s perfect that Nao should come next. In general, Nao does not think for herself. Not until her suggestion that Sara should run away with her at the end of the Second Main Game did she do anything other than follow earliers or force herself into certain situations. This, of course, relates to the juxtaposition between her and Sara, who is a natural leader. However, it explains why there is not much to say about Nao other than the fact that she is so far removed from the issue of self-sacrifice vs. self-preservation.
Everything Kai did, up until his death, was to protect Sara. His job was to be her bodyguard, and Sara is the person who saved Kai from a life of murder. Kai dies because his silence in his efforts to protect Sara prevented a proper discussion over whether it was worth it to kill the Sage simply because they were the Sage.
Gin Ibushi, much like Kanna, started the game by prioritiznig the lives of others. Unlike Kanna, he did not change, particularly because there was no narrative reason for his change. Even when Gin was about to die, it was up to Q-Taro to decide between self-sacrifice and self-preservation. However, when Gin and Q-Taro were up on the targets, this was a symbolic message to Sara: you must choose between the self-preserving tendencies of Q-Taro and the self-sacrificing tendencies of Gin, who gave out his tokens for free, unaware of the consequences. While Gin has yet to die, his steadfast hold on his self-sacrificing beliefs would explain why his win rate is lower even than Kanna’s.
Gin would often cling to father figures due to his dad’s alcohol addiction, and Mishima was the first to experience this treatment. Mishima cared for Gin, but he knew Nao best, and his instruction that she vote for him would cause his death, because Mishima sacrificed himself for Nao. Mishima is interesting, because his self-sacrifice is less a result of a hope for everyone’s survival, and more about his desire for people to improve as human beings. He tells Nao to give him up when he is an AI, and instructs Reko to break his screen. Although Mishima is perhaps more self-sacrificng than Gin, his understanding of teaching others how to care about themselves is likely why his win rate is higher than both Gin’s and Kanna’s. This may also be a result of the fact that he is older and more capable, but his strange quirks also make him less trustworthy than both Gin and Kanna, which cancels his capabilities out. Thus his self-sacrificing beliefs would kill him, even if his understanding of self-preservation decreases the likelihood of his death.
Last but not least of the non-Sara characters, we have Alice Yabusame. Now, on this one, I am probably missing the most information, since I have absolutely no idea how he dies in the route where Reko survives. However, I can say that in the route where he survives, despite his understanding at the beginning of Chapter 2 that Reko had changed, he was unable to accept that the unchanged Reko was not human. This implies that Alice wants a version of Reko who both cares for others and values strength, suggesting a need for balance. I also know this is a big change from his attitude towards the beginning, where he believes that everyone should be as self-preserving as possible, and not get in anyone else’s way. The fact that Alice has to die to accept Reko’s change (I think???), it makes sense that his self-preserving tendencies would place him in the bottom half of win rates. Again, this theory is weakened by my ignorance.
Joe’s likely inevitable death contributes to Sara’s fear of the Sacrifice card, which perfectly balances her lack of desire to manipulate others with her desire to preserve herself. Sara is also often given the choice between wanting to win or escape with everyone, and the fact that character moments often hinge on her response illustrates Nankidai’s thematic goals. The choice between Shin and Kanna’s deaths, while about emotion and logic, are also about choosing between preserving oneself (voting for Kanna, who cannot contribute to Sara’s survival) and preserving others (Kanna is TOO YOUNG TO DIE). I do not mean to suggest that saving Kanna was necessarilly the “correct route.” Quite the opposite, in fact. I mean to suggest that the fact that Sara is presented this choice and that she does not have an immediate answer is exactly why she is so likely to win.
TL;DR i drone on about how sara is special and not like other characters, and how she cares about people but also about herself, so that’s the theme and stuff. there’s also a long, pretentious rant about the symbolism of reko’s death. and a doctor who reference. there’s also a weird amount of parantheses.
(credit to @sip-of-depresso for having the conversation with me which sparked this theory)

Feelings about YTTD characters up until ch2 [long rant]
Spoilers will be marked like this: spoilers.
So like OBVIOUSLY spoiler warning. I haven’t gotten into chapter 3 yet because I finished ch2 at like 2am and I had online school the next day and all my emotional stamina was something more like emotional stamiNO
Let’s start by talking about characters!!!
Keiji Shinogi
So...can you guess who’s my favorite...? If you guessed Keiji you are absolutely correct. I said this on insta but he could snap me like a twig if he wanted, and I’m NOT joking.
At the start I was very worried that he’d be a bad guy, but I very quickly fell in love with him (and yeah, it did help that he’s pretty hot shut up).
He’s just...so fuxking sweet? He just cares so much about you, has been very helpful and honestly he ended up being the most trustworthy. This game has been NERVE wrecking and his encouragement throughout the chapters and the choices really helped me...he’s just amazing, I have NO words to express how much I love him <333
If he dies I will die with him, probably from crying.
Not to mention that his backstory and trauma...it broke my heart seeing him so down and I really wanted to comfort him at that moment. But what REALLY broke my heart was how careful and worried he was about you during your hallucinations, even though he was also having quite a hard time with his own demons...
Sou Hiyori (Shin Tsumuki)
...or should I say Shin Tsumiki? Oh God, the beanie man...
I honestly don’t don’t know how exactly to feel about him. Since I am into Danganronpa, I did come across Yttd memes and I had already seen all of the Kokichi comparisons and such. That’s why I expected lots of lies, tomfoolery and overall rat-ness. And well...yeah that’s what I got pretty much! Even though he annoyed me greatly the moment the bs happened, I can’t help but be interested and fond of him...after all his love and care for Kanna was quite apparent, and I felt like he really went through changes and slowly opened up...
I was really stumped on what to do when the final voting time came on the second main game. I didn’t want to kill Shin because as I said, I am fond of him. Not to mention I was so impressed by his abilities and what he had to offer and I really wanted to see more of him...! However, after abusing the multiple save files and seeing the outcomes of all the voting options I decided I’d kill him off. The logic route was just too cruel for both him and Sara. Him having to live with the survivors guild and his hatred of Sara not only hurt me but also scared me in terms of what he’d do to sabotage her. Those fears were made worse after I saw what crap he pulled with that Joe hologram...absolutely no. On the other hand, the feeling route had a much more emotionally satisfying ending. it seemed as if both Sara and Shin got their salvation. I actually cried at the AI scene, and I felt as if not only Sara, but I had also I had been freed of this crushing weight...all because of Shin. I will however replay it sometime and will let him live, just to see how Sou and him would interact...
Kanna Kizuchi
Oh Kanna...
Honestly I do sympathize with Kanna. I too am a notorious crybaby and would also be nominated because I’d be weak. From the moment I saw her I just KNEW I wanted to protect her and keep her safe from people like Shin...
The entire sister backstory cut deep, and I was really happy to take the role of her older sister, it just felt like the right thing to do ya know? Anyway overall I do want to protect her and love her!!!
Her death at the logic route was HEARTBREAKING. It was so painful and it just added to the overall...hurt of the damn thing, which is why I ultimately kept her alive. I am quite excited to see what she has to offer, since it seemed like she had MAJOR character development after that ending and I pray it was worth sacrificing Shin...
Joe Tazuna
What!!! A!!! Baby!!! Love...!!! Love is stored in the Joe!!! He has one of my favorite character designs, it’s just really cute! He truly gives me “childhood friend” vibes! I love how supportive he was of Sara. He was always by her side and truly seemed to love her! Personally I think they were just close friends, and didn’t have any romantic feelings for each other, but that’s up for interpretation! Overall amazing character, very good boy!
His death...just absolutely destroyed me...and then the hallucinations just made everything worse. I felt the despair in Sara during those. Absolutely heart wrenching.
Kai Satou
He’s beautiful and I am quite in love with him. His quiet and calm demeanor reminds me of Korekiyo in Danganronpa, one of my favorite characters of all time! Most of what I want to say about him are spoilers though so...this first part will be quite short.
FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKF U C K. All he wanted was to protect Sara...he did his best but ultimately was found out. Even in the end, he tried his best to be useful and encouraged Sara, resisting Miley’s bs! Just...a best boy.
Gin Ibushi
Much like Kanna, I really just want to protect him! At first I was a bit creeped out, but I warmed up to him!!! He’s really cute and I loved sword fighting him!!!
Nao Egokoro
She’s was bit annoying at the start, but I ended up liking her after all! Her bond with Mishima was very cute and I liked how she grew throughout the story.
I liked how Mishima’s death affected her and ultimately contributed to her growth. I admit she did scare me with the whole fake Mishima AI thing, but ultimately I was glad she was sane...her death was sad, especially the painting she didn’t get to finish...but the little cut-scene at the end was really sweet.
Kazumi Mishima
KOMAEDA- okay no but!!! I love him a lot actually! He was really fun to be around and his affection towards Nao really showed! I’ve also had really strong bonds with teachers overtime so it really hit home!
I hate that he had to die first smh...such a feral man...
Reko Yabusame
My goth wife..................................what a lass. I love her a lot. She funky, spunky AND dramatic!!! I just love her a lot!!!
I honestly was quite sad she didn’t get to reconcile with Alice. I could feel that he really cared about her...
Gonbee Yamada (Alice Yabusame)
I don’t have strong feelings for him. His design just sends me into a goddamn frenzy...He got all the primary colors in his hair. Honestly, bold.
I felt really bad for him since he died trying to avenge his “dead” sister and they never ended up being in good terms even though both of them wanted to.
Q-taro Burgerberg
Again, no strong feelings! He’s a bro and I always feel like I have to fist bump my screen every time that one sprite shows...you know the one!
The whole swapping cards bs...oh sis that one SCARED me.
Sara Chidouin
The main girl herself! I like her! She’s cute, she’s determined...I don’t really have much to say about Sara because I play her like she’s me basically...however! I will say that her bond with Joe is ADORABLE! And of course...her relationship with Keiji...very cute too, but as I said, I do view her as a replica of me, so take that as you will!
And that’s all I have to say about that. If this was to have a general conclusion its be that yttd has great characters, and it was hard for me to pick someone to die...!

Assigning You A Liminal Space Based On Your Favorite YTTD Character
Sara Chidouin - A classroom where words appear on the chalkboard every half hour. Sometimes they tell of false hints and other times they ask why you came here. There's a knife in the middle desk.
Joe Tazuna - An endless metal tunnel where you can see light at the end. It always glows a different color and you feel like you're getting farther away the longer you walk. You can hear a dog barking beyond the "exit."
Gin Ibushi - An animal shelter that smells like wet dog. In the upper left corner there's a pile of stuffed animal that you can use as a bed. Sometimes they come to life.
Keiji Shinogi - An airport that feels just slightly too humid. Out of the corner of your eye you can see visions of the dead. It's always 3AM.
Alice Yabusame - The hallway of your childhood that's filled with family photos and the smell of something you can't quite place but fills you with nostalgia. No matter how far you walk the path things stay the same.
More Undercut
Reko Yabusame - A mall where a new store opens every hour. It's never similar to one that you've seen before. It looks like light is streaming from somewhere, but you can't see any windows or doors. The bitter smell lingers in the air.
Nao Egokoro - A train where little snacks and drinks are sat upon the table. You aren't sure where you're going, but it seems like you have a destination. It's a little too cold but there's a blanket under one of the seats.
Kazumi Mishima - The room is totally empty expect for chalk on the floor. The walls are chalkboards so you can draw or write your thoughts. Too bad you can't do anything else.
Q-taro Burgerberg - An empty stadium that's closed off from overhead. You hear cheers and boos from an audience you not see as if you're the only one invisible. There's a popcorn and slushy maker at the top bleacher.
Kai Satou - A grocery store that smells oddly like plastic and seems to restock itself. You haven't seen any employees, but you feel like they're in the vicinity.
Kanna Kizuchi - An endless hallway where flowers grow up to your knees. Sometimes it feels like they're wrapping around your ankles and trying to drag you down, but you can pull them off with enough might. Some flowers smell like pudding, and the others smell like metal.
Shin Tsukimi - A convivence store filled with neon lights where the air is thick and it feels hard to breath. Exits sometimes appear only to disappear right before you reach them.
Dolls
Ranmaru Kageyama - A doorway with a black void at both sides. No matter which way you go or how far you run you'll always end up back in the same place.
Naomichi Kurumada - An indoor pool where the smell of chlorine hits your nose and makes you dizzy. There's floats for you to lounge on if you get tired, along with dive rings if you're up for a challenge. Just don't go too far down or you might think you've found an exit and won your escape...
Anzu Kinashi - A circus tent that's one big circle. Music played by horns and trumpets ring in your ears and you can vaguely taste the flavor of cotton candy. A clown is watching you but you'll never know as he always disappears before you turn around.
Mai Tsurugi - A bakery that only has one small lamp by the counter. There's a tip jar that shows you an exit if you put in enough coins, but it vanishes just as fast as it appeared. This is a metaphor for capitalism.
Shunsuke Hayasaka - A library that makes you forget your name and where you came from. You aren't sure which books you've read and which you've forgotten. There's a papercut on your finger. You aren't sure how you got it.
Hinako Mishuku - The place is indistinguishable. You don't know where you are or how you got here. It's dark and none of your scents work properly. All you can wonder is if you're actually dead. You know it's some kind of room because every once in awhile you run into a wall. You didn't know you were in a room.

Best NXT Matches of 2020 - The Top 5
Tumblr media
5
DIY vs Moustache Mountain - Worlds Collide
Tumblr media
Man that Worlds Collide card was great. This was a simple tag team dream match between two awesome tag teams that have never really crossed paths. Crazy talented Tyler Bate has some silky smooth wrestling sequences with Gargano and Ciampa that makes me clamor for singles matches with both of them. Ciampa and Seven have a funny posedown where Seven bows out before he officially hold his L. Its a fatphobic moment, but I ain’t gon trip. It’s a playful babyface tag match until Ciampa remembers that he’s a psychopath and he decks Seven with a forearm. Repentant babyface Gargano joins Ciampa and superkicks Bate and from there this match takes off with high octane action and some creative sequences.
Ciampa and Gargano tear into Bate and Seven gets the hot tag in a fun reversal of how they usually do things. Gargano hits the Final Beat DDT at the same time that Ciampa hits the Widows Bell DDT. Bate goes for a flying back elbow on Ciampa, but gets V Triggered out of the sky. There’s a great sequence where Gargano tilt-a-whirls into Gargano Escape on Bate, but Bate counters to the Airplane Spin, but Gargano rides him back down into it. Ciampa locks in a double armbar on Seven and we got a flashback to DIY vs Revival at Toronto. Bate and Seven escaped the stereo submissions and we get a fun double airplane spin. Bate accidentally rebound clotheslines Seven and they have a sweet moment where Seven protects Bate from Meeting in the Middle. They coldcock DIY though and land a sweet Burning Hammer/Flying Knee combo on Ciampa. In the end, DIY kills Seven with Meeting in the Middle and end this dream match.

Finn Balor vs Kyle O’Reilly - NXT Title - Takeover 31
Tumblr media
Kyle O’Reilly being in the main event of a Takeover was a pretty far out idea, but one torn shoulder and a seemingly unplanned 30 day turnaround between Takeovers has made it so. Balor beat Adam Cole for the vacant title on September 8 and O’Reilly won a Gauntlet Eliminator for the title shot two weeks later. NXT’s always succinct video packages edged Kyle babyface and boiled him down to a dude who just really loves wrestling. And wrestling is exactly what we get. Not just wrestling, but some of the best pure wrestling of the year.  This is a great display of matwork, pacing, and psychology. This reminds me of Shingo vs Ibushi from the G1, where they could easily go full throttle all action, but instead they’re way more patient and we still get a great match from it.
Kyle has an awesome performance here as his selling is super sympathetic, while his work attacking Finn’s arms and legs is vicious. Finn, in my favorite Balor incarnation as The Prince, appropriately responds with his own nasty offense. In particular, one spinning kick looks like it ruptures Kyle’s spleen. Kyle goes for a cross armbreaker at one point and there’s a great sequence as we get a close up view of Balor’s fingers unlocking one by one until Kyle locks the armbreaker all the way in. Kyle legit breaks Finn’s jaw with a running knee in the corner and shortly after that, Finn ends it with the Coup De Grace. The ending was a leeeeetle too sudden and out of nowhere for understandable reasons. It definitely feels like they had a 4-5 more minutes to really build to their ending. No matter what, its an excellent wrestling match that basically sealed Finn as NXT’s male wrestler of the year and elevated Kyle to another level.
3
The Broserweights vs The Undisputed Era - Tag Team Titles - Takeover Portland
Tumblr media
You know that point in long-ish tag matches where there’s a hot tag and everything breaks down and everything is just super entertaining chaos. This match is like that from the start and its awesome. There’s a relentless amount of double teams, nearfalls, nearfall saves, and momentum shifts. I had the very sneaky suspicion that one of the Broserweights were gonna turn on each other. The match kinda supported my theory because there’s moments where Dunne accidentally hits Riddle & moments where Riddle accidentally hits Dunne. Throughout it all, the Broserweights win this tornado of a match and take the tag titles. This was by far the best tag team match I saw this year. Unfortunately, the pandemic forcing Dunne to England and Riddle’s sexual assault allegations and call down to Raw broke up this team and completely derailed NXT’s tag team division for the entire year.
2
Candice Lerae, Toni Storm, Dakota Kai, & Raquel Gonzalez vs Shotzi Blackheart, Io Shirai, Rhea Ripley, & Ember Moon - War Games Match - Takeover War Games
Tumblr media
Once the Charlotte experiment was over, the women of NXT were featured more and more on TV and emerged in the fall as the best division in the world that carried the show while the fellas were affected by injuries and weird direction and stuff. Shotzi and Candice lead their stacked teams to this WarGames match that felt like a violent feather in the cap of a tremendous year for the ladies.
Ember & Dakota start things off and have a great five minute segment showing off their chemistry before Shotzi comes in. The babyfaces having the advantage is an odd decision, but they work pretty simply and Dakota is crafty enough to not make it a weird dynamic where she turns herself face. Big Momma Raquel is next and things get ugly for the faces. Rhea is next and has a great staredown and brawl with Raquel. Toni Storm is next and she chooses violence bringing in numerous kendo sticks and takes off the turnbuckle pads. The action is brutal, creative, and constant and very rarely feels phony or choreographed. There’s a required Tower of Doom spot and a lot of weapon shots. Io Shirai is next and she wants to introduce more weapons, but Raquel keeps her out with a few hard big boots. Io dropkicks a chair into her face, but Toni locks the door to keep Io out. Candice Lerae is finally in and she has Indi Hartwell take out Io so the heels keep their handicap advantage, but the match can’t officially start without Io. In one of the funniest spots of the year, Io climbs to the top of the cage puts a garbage can over her head and leaps onto everybody.
With the match officially started, we get a bunch of super entertaining action. Rhea and Io have some awesome tag team moves, Ember hits Dakota with a crazy Eclipse two chairs, Shotzi sentons Candice off a ladder onto chairs. Its an awesome blend of skillful wrestling, creative spots, and brutality. In the end, Raquel catches Io going for a super rana and powerbombs her through a ladder to secure the win for Team Candice. An awesome spectacle of lady excellence.
1
Io Shirai vs Rhea Ripley - Women’s Title - November 18
Tumblr media
Io Shirai had an incredible year as Women’s champion and saved the title from the terribly booked Charlotte reign, by being one of the most consistent performers in the world and having great matches with the every name worth a damn in NXT. Rhea’s momentum from early this year was severely damaged by her disappearance after her loss to Charlotte Flair, but she slowly recovered, had some damn good matches and before you know it, she had all her swag back. It makes sense for this to be a big match up, but the unique thing about it is that Io Shirai took the initiative to call out Ripley. That instantly gave their match a very different dynamic that they play into and we got one of the best matches of the entire year.
Io’s brings the aggressive mentality of her challenge to the match and goes right after Rhea. She gets the best of her with her athleticism until Rhea yanks her into an electric chair drop on the apron. Even when she’s being overpowered though, she never alters her approach and she never sticks and moves. Staying in the pocket with Rhea is a dangerous proposition, but Io is just that crazy. Io slips out of a superplex attempt and delivers a sick German suplex from the turnbuckle. As great of a powerhouse that Rhea is, her bumping and selling is brilliant and she really puts over Io’s damage. Rhea gets extra angry after booting the hell out of Io, but Io snatches her left arm and goes crazy trying to disable Rhea and limit her power.
Rhea is still strong lady and gets a superplex and her reverse cloverleaf while still selling the arm, but when she goes for the Riptide, Io brilliantly counters to a cross armbreaker. Rhea escapes and decapitates Io with a clothesline, but Io counters another Riptide attempt to a spike DDT. In the awesome final sequence, Io catches Rhea on the apron with a sunset flip powerbomb THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE!! Rhea is a dead woman, but she manages to drag her corpse in the ring, but as soon as she crawls in to beat the count, Io crushes her with a moonsault to the back and ends this classic match. Great unexpected psychology, great selling, great finish,. The Ladies of NXT just got better and better as the year went on and this is probably their crown jewel example.

Stress Reliever (Part 2)
A/N: Hello beautiful people! So, I couldn’t sleep and thanks to the help of listening to the sound of a thunderstorm while reading a steamy erotica novel for the past two hours, I was able to get the inspiration I needed to write part 2 and the conclusion of Stress Reliever. And guys.... OMG. This, I feel, is the best smut I have written so far. I kept blushing in embarrassment as I was writing this so I hope you guys enjoy it! I love you guys and enjoy the read :)
Part II: Thunderstorm
That shower was just what I needed. My skin returned to its radiant, natural glow, and my hair was full of volume, my dark bouncy, curls appearing healthy and full of shine. My body felt a lot more relaxed, even though I feel that was more Kota’s doing than the shower’s. I got dressed in a large, white T-shirt and a pair of black lace panties before I climbed into our shared bed. Kota was already in bed, wearing a plain white shirt and a pair of black basketball shorts, with a book in his hands. There was a soft rumble that can be heard through our bedroom window, and there was a light drizzle of rain that gradually came down heavier. Looks like it was going to be a storm tonight.
Once I climbed in next to him, Kota sat his book down on the nightstand and pulled my body closer to his, with him lying on his back. My arms were wrapped around his waist and I rested my head on his chest, inhaling his scent. He still smelled of soap from our shower, clean and fresh. His strong arms hugging my waist made me feel so safe and warm. I peered up to get a better look at his face; the moon shining in from our bedroom window illuminated his face. His brown eyes held content and relaxation despite his messy hair slightly blinding him, and his lips were pulled into a soft smile.
“Is there something on my face?” he asked jokingly.
I shook my head and smiled. “Only the face of an angel.”
Kota chuckled at my complement and kissed my forehead right before he re-positioned himself to lie on his side, his arms still around my middle. I was lying on my side, too, facing Kota’s direction. Once we were both comfortable, we breathed a deep sigh as we listened to the sound of the storm growing outside. I loved thunderstorms; I always found them so peaceful and relaxing. Especially when you have someone to cuddle with.
Kota was running his fingers through the dark curls of my hair, massaging his fingers into my scalp and gently pulling at the strands. I snuggled deeper into my pillow and closed my eyes, enjoying the way that he played with my hair. I, then, let out a small yawn in which Kota retaliated with a small chuckle.
“Falling asleep on me?” he asked.
My eyes snapped open and I shook my head. “I wasn’t sleeping. I was just resting my eyes.”
“Aw, how adorable,” Kota laughed.
I pouted and nudged his shoulder. “Shut up.”
The rain started to fall heavier from the night sky, raindrops knocking against the window. Another rumble of thunder echoed through the sky as well, louder than the previous one.
“Looks like the storm is getting stronger,” I said casually.
Kota nodded in agreement. “Yeah. And it’s kinda making me feel some type of way.”
I raised an amused eyebrow. “Don’t tell me the fearless Kota Ibushi is afraid of a little thunderstorm.”
Kota snorted at my comment. “Very funny. No, I was referring to a different feeling…”
With that sultry smirk on his face, Kota leaned his body closer to mine, now with him on top of me, and covered his lips to mine, kissing me. Without thinking, my arms wrapped around his shoulders and I opened my mouth to allow Kota’s tongue to slip through. His lips gently sucked and pulled at my bottom lip, a soft groan rumbling from my throat.
“You are awfully handsy today,” I giggled between kisses.
“Hey, it’s been a month since I last touched you,” Kota said with a slight pout. “Let me have this.”
Kota started to kiss me deeper, his tongue exploring every inch of my mouth. Soft pants and moans escaped from our lips as we could hear the rain continue to pound against our window and the rumble of thunder. My hands glided from Kota’s shoulders to slip into his hair, my fingers gently tugging at the strands. I could hear a growl bubble up in the back of his throat, and his body shift against me.
“Mm Raina,” he groaned. “You know what having my hair pulled does to me.”
“I know,” I said teasingly. “All the more reason to do it; I like the sounds you make.” I pulled a little harder at Kota’s hair as I planted my lips to his into a firm kiss. Kota moaned into my mouth and I could feel his erection start to poke against my thigh. His hands gripped the pillow under my head.
“Raina,” he whispered threateningly, the arousal seeping through his voice. “Don’t tease me…”
I licked my bottom lip and raised an eyebrow at him, taking his vague threat as a challenge. “Or what?” I cooed, slowly rising from the bed just to switch our positions, with me now on top. I straddled his lap, feeling his dick grow harder, and rested my hands on his chest. “Are you going to stop me?”
Kota couldn’t say anything as he watched me tease him, his jaw tightly clenched to suppress the moan that wants to escape his lips. His hands were resting on my hips, his fingers sinking into the fabric of my shirt. He could feel his growing erection poke against the side of my thigh as he tried to shift his body under me to alleviate the sensation.
It was actually really amusing to see him vulnerable like this; I hardly get a chance to be in control like this and I wanted to seize every minute of it. My hands slid down his chest to stop at the hem of his shirt. I slowly began to push it up his body, him getting the hint that I was trying to take it off. Kota shifted his upper half to help me remove his shirt from his body before I tossed it on the floor.
“I thought you could be a bit more comfortable before I start,” I whispered, biting my lip.
Kota’s eyes widened a bit in both curiosity and a hint of fear. “Start what?” he choked out.
“My apology,” I said smirking, before I slowly rolled my hips against his erection, eliciting a hiss from Kota’s lips. “I have deprived you of pleasure for some time now, and I want to make it up to you. But, I also want to have a little fun with you, deciding to take it nice.. and.. slow.”
I began to rock my hips against Kota’s lower half in a slow, steady rhythm, feeling his dick poke through my panties, and a soft moan escaping from my lips. My nails traced up and down his bare chest. A small gasp spilled out from Kota’s lips and his eyes fluttered closed. His hands gripped tighter at hips, with my shirt bunching up in his palms. Soft pants and moans could be heard from him as his breathing became a bit more ragged. I slowly increased my speed with each roll of my lips, hearing Kota’s gasps of arousal simultaneously with the storm outside.
“Damn it Raina,” Kota breathed out harshly. “Stop teasing me!”
I smirked down at him. “Well, that didn’t sound very nice. I thought that this was what you wanted?”
Kota held in another moan. “No, it is, baby. I just… can’t handle being teased like this for much longer.”
I gave a seductive chuckle. “Well, if you want me to stop,” I purred. “Then you’re gonna have to ask a little nicer than that.”
I slowly leaned my head down to Kota’s ear and traced my tongue along the shell of it, making him shiver.
“Then again,” I whispered. “It would be much more fun to hear you beg me.”
Realizing his words from earlier, Kota let out a low growl in lust and frustration. “Fuck you,” he hissed.
I let out a small chuckle. “Oh, baby, I know you want me to. Your friend poking at my thigh is evidence enough.” I placed a quick kiss to his neck before I looked him dead in the face, my eyes simmering with lust and intensity.
“So what’s it gonna be, honey?” I said smugly. “Choice is yours.”
A flash of lightning came through the bedroom window followed by a soft rumble of thunder. Kota’s eyes widened in surprise and his lips were trembling. His dick was solid as a rock, pressing against my clit, making me wetter than the rain pouring outside. His body was warm underneath my fingertips, and sweat began to form through the bangs of his hair. He knew he couldn’t take much more, and to see me in control like this was actually turning him on a lot more than I imagined. So, with one word, he gave into my demands.
“Please,” Kota whispered against my lips. “Please, baby, I need you.”
I hummed in satisfaction as I briefly sat up on his lap to remove my overly large shirt. Because I decided not to wear a bra, the slightly chilly air brushed against my breasts, my nipples instantly peaking from the sensation. Left now in only my panties, the dim light of the moon came through the window enough to illuminate my body for Kota to see me. An animalistic growl escaped from his lips, his tongue tracing over his mouth like a predator ravishing over its prey.
“What would you do if I just turned you over and fucked you hard into the mattress?” Kota asked smugly.
I pressed my almost naked body against his frame and chuckled: “As much as I would love that baby, you had your turn already. But don’t worry, I’ll make sure you are way more than satisfied.”
My lips found his again in a heated kiss, this time my tongue tracing his bottom lip, wishing for access inside Kota’s mouth. He eagerly obliged as his hands rubbed slowly up and down my back, his fingertips brushing against my spine. Heavy pants escaped from his lips in between kisses, and when I gently bit down on his bottom lip, he retaliated with a slap to my ass.
I jolted a bit in surprise and raised an eyebrow at him.
“I’m sorry,” Kota said, a bit embarrassed. “Force of habit.”
I shook my head. “Don’t be. I actually liked it, to be honest.”
Kota’s smirk returned to his face in a sense of pride. “Well, maybe I should spank you for teasing me earlier.”
I clicked my tongue and chuckled. “Nice try, babe. But it’s still my turn.”
I kissed Kota’s lips for a bit before traveling to the right side of his neck, thinking he should have a matching hickey to go with the one he gave me. My lips gently brushed against his neck, and my tongue slowly traced around the area before Kota shifted his head to give me better access. I enclosed my lips around Kota’s neck, sucking and nibbling at the exposed flesh. Kota’s hands firmly grasped my ass as he moaned at the attack on his neck.
“Mmm,” Kota moaned. “Harder, baby.”
I listened to his request by sucking harder at Kota’s neck before sinking my teeth into his flesh, hearing Kota hiss and curse from pleasure. I lapped up the newly formed bruise with my tongue before my lips traveled down to his collarbone, peppering kisses along Kota’s body. The rain continued to pound against the window, and I could feel my pussy trembling through my panties hearing my husband pant and moan from my actions. My lips traced along his chest, placing a kiss to each pec before flicking my tongue across both of Kota’s nipples.
“Fuck,” he hissed, his back slightly arching from the bed.
I chuckled at him before gliding my tongue down his waterboard abs, Kota’s hands now entangled into the curls of my hair. I placed a kiss to his navel before I sat up again, my hands at the hem of his shorts, pulling both them and his boxers down his thighs. Kota lifted his hips up a bit to help me maneuver the rest of his clothes off his body. Kota now laid completely naked below me, his hair disheveled, and his plump, pink lips slightly parted and swollen from all the kissing. Through his bangs, I could see the lust clear through his eyes as a flash of lightning came through the window again followed by another roar of thunder. My chest was heaving steadily, a few drops of sweat falling down my breasts. My panties were completely soaked and my clit was aching. Kota’s dick was fully erect in front of me, thick and swollen, with a bit of pre-cum oozing from the tip. My trembling fingers gently held the shaft as I looked down into his eyes, swallowing the lump in my throat. I haven’t been this horny in a while, and it was really hard to maintain my self-control. Kota shivered underneath my touch, and a bit back a whimper.
“Are you okay?” I asked with a shaky breath.
Kota nodded his head from the pillow and said “Yeah” in a low tone.
I shook my head back so that my hair wasn’t in the way before I slowly brought my face down to his dick. My tongue brushed gently over his tip, causing Kota to slightly hiss, before I encircled my mouth around it and started sucking.
Kota’s head threw back against the pillow and his eyes rolled into the back of his skull. “Oh Raina,” he gasped aloud. “Oh, fuck, go deeper.”
I brought my head all the way down his shaft before bobbing my head up again while simultaneously stroking his dick with my right hand. The mixture of saliva and pre-cum covered Kota’s dick completely, creating a feeling that elicited louder moans from his lips. His hands pulled at the curls of my hair, keeping it out of my face, as he made his voice heard.
“Oh baby girl,” Kota hissed. “Ah… fuck you feel so good around me… you’re taking my cock so well in that pretty mouth of yours.”
Loving the praise that he was giving me, I bobbed my head a bit faster around him, sucking and slurping the pre-cum that leaked from him. I created a nice, steady rhythm as I sucked my husband off, the sounds of his moans and the storm outside creating a beautiful symphony for me to listen to.
“Raina… ahhh shit…. Mmm baby girl, just like that.”
Kota’s fingers were digging hard into my scalp, and pulling so hard at the strands of my hair that I let out a moan around him, his back quickly arching from the bed and almost a scream coming from his lips.
“Ahh!” Kota gasped, followed by a lustful growl.
I could feel myself leaking through my panties, the noises from Kota’s mouth delicious and exhilarating to my ears. I could feel Kota tremble underneath me, my mouth around his dick exploring every inch of him while my hand continued to stroke him. I found my rhythm increasing in speed, and my grip tighter around his cock. I bobbed and slurped around his dick, hearing his voice grow louder and hoarse. Another rumble of thunder echoed through the sky, and I moaned around him again, this time eliciting a different response.
“Stop,” Kota said, almost pained. “Raina, please stop.”
Upon hearing his words, I let go of his dick and sat up with a concerned look on my face. Kota gripped my hips for dear life as he tried to catch his breath, his body violently trembling.
“What’s wrong?” I asked with worry. “Did I hurt you?”
Kota shook his head rapidly and slowly opened his eyes to look up at me. “No,” he whispered. “Not at all. You were amazing, baby. In fact, a little too good.”
“Oh,” I said confused. “So why did you stop me?”
Kota rubbed small circles against my hips, his dick was twitching and a small stream of cum leaked from the tip. “I want us both to enjoy this moment. I want to finish with you buried deep inside me. Raina, baby, I want you to ride me. I want to look into your eyes and watch you take what’s yours.”
I almost came right then and there. To hear that my husband wanted me to dominate him… I was at a loss for words. The rain continued to pour outside and the fire in my belly continued to swell into a blazing inferno. All I could do was nod my head and whisper “Okay” before Kota helped me out of my soaked lace panties and positioned my entrance against his tip. My hands braced myself on his chest as he lowered me down onto him, the stretch and burn of his dick entering me causing me to hiss in pleasure and pain.
“Ah,” I whimpered. “Kota, you’re so big…”
Kota huffed out a chuckle before he lifted me off of him until just the tip was still inside me, wanting me to grow comfortable with his size.
“You’re doing great honey,” Kota whispered. “Just let me know when you are ready.”
After a few practice strokes, I became used to my husband being inside of me when I began to create a steady rhythm on my own. Kota held onto my waist as I rolled my hips against him, my clit rubbing against his cock.
“Oh God,” I breathed, throwing my head back. “This feels even better than our time in the shower.”
“Mmm I agree,” Kota moaned. “I can really feel how wet you are without the water in the way.”
A thin film of sweat began to cover our bodies as heavy pants and moans echoed through our bedroom, rivaling against the storm. The rain pounded against the window frame simultaneously with me grinding against my husband’s hips, my nails scratching along his chest. The thunder rumbled and boomed in the night sky as Kota’s moans turned into animalistic growls, his nails sinking into my thick and curvy thighs, leaving behind marks. His dick kept hitting a sweet spot inside me, and my clit continued to feel the delicious, addicting friction from the two of us.
“Kota…”
“Raina…”
I stared down at my husband through half-lidded eyes, the speed of my thrusts increasing and my nails sinking deeper into his shoulders, red scratch marks appearing on his beautiful tanned skin.
“Mark me,” Kota panted, licking the corner of his lip. “I’m all yours baby…”
My moans transformed into whimpers and cries, feeling my climax approaching with every thrust.
“Mmmm.. baby… oh fuck I’m so close,” I moaned.
It felt like my body was being electrocuted, but in a good way. I felt so powerful, so wanted, and so… loved by the way his body reacted to mine. To hear him call out my name was better than any song I’ve ever heard. I felt like I could do anything because I had Kota to help me ease my stress and worries. And I vowed that I would be the beacon of light for him too.
“Kota… I.. I’m gonna cum!”
My cries rang out at the same time lightning flashed through the window and thunder boomed across the sky, my climax gut-punching me. My head threw back in ecstasy and Kota’s name erupted from my throat in one loud scream. Not long after, Kota came too, spilling his seed hot and fast into me, with his voice letting out a few guttural moans. As our climaxes rode their courses, I collapsed on top of him before pulling out and laying next to him on the bed, both of us completely spent and exhausted. We laid there panting heavily, catching our breaths, as we heard the thunderstorm turn back into a steady drizzle of rain. Kota spoke up, his voice a bit hoarse, filled his bliss and content.
“Wow,” he said, a light chuckle coming from his lips. “That was… incredible. I don’t think we’ve done it twice in one evening.” He turned his head to look over at me. “And when did you get so aggressive?”
A tiny smile pulled onto my lips, I turned my head towards his. “Too much pent up stress,” I laughed. “But I think I got it all out now.”
“I’m so happy to hear that,” Kota whispered, pulling the covers over us and cuddling me closer to his body. “I love you, Raina.”
“I love you, too, Kota,” I whispered as he placed a kiss to my hair. “I promise from now on I will talk to you about my stress so that I won’t worry you anymore.”
“Good to know,” Kota said with a yawn.
Feeling sleepy myself, I mumbled something to him before laying my head on the pillow. “I think we’re gonna need another shower.”
“We’ll take one,” Kota said, shutting his eyes. “In the morning.”

There’s often a moment during an Ibushi match when his opponent pushes him too far. Usually it’s when someone disrespects him, but the switch doesn’t often get flipped for ordinary, petty disrespect: Ibushi’s dead-eyed murder mode is usually triggered specifically by opponents using disrespect as a tactic; aimed at provoking him into losing control.
Because Ibushi’s edge, the thing that makes him so brilliant, is exactly that: control. He openly says he follows his feelings when he fights, but it would be a mistake to assume that implies he acts rashly or lets them take over. Instead, he harnesses them for a near-peerless level of precision and control over his own body that makes him undeniably dangerous and dazzling.
So when someone tries to take that from him by prodding him into anger, they don’t usually succeed. Of course, he does get angry, but usually it’s not because of the provocation itself: what seems to make him mad is the fact that someone is trying to get the better of him. That’s how we get Murder Kota; he gives his opponent exactly what they were looking for, his way. The thing they tried to use against him, he deploys expertly against them, to drive the point home. It’s maybe his defining personality trait: no one controls me but me.
As it happens, Jay White is obsessed with control. He has no use for friends; he avoids vulnerability (of any kind) and risk at all costs. He’s learned that love and loyalty are just means to the end of causing as much unhappiness as he can; elaborately planned and intricately executed. The more he can manipulate people and situations, the better; he seemingly does it just for fun, and he does it for the long term. He’ll set his trap, he’ll wait until someone is vulnerable, and he'll strike. Jay’s got all the time in the world. He’s patient, he says.
Kota Ibushi, in contrast, has learned that love and loyalty are the end, and he knows now that he can have those for the rest of his life. But he can only be a top-level pro wrestler until his body gives out, maybe a few years from now. Having surpassed god only made him more aware that it won’t be long until an acolyte surpasses him. He’s a new person, motivated by the cruel march of time to create a legacy while he still can. He’s in a hurry, he says.
That should be welcome news to Jay White, who knows exactly how to deal with an opponent who’s in a hurry—in fact, he counts on it. Much of his strategy revolves around needling his opponents, trapping them and vexing them, until they get so pissed they rush at him in a furious rage, ready to murder this punk. Then they make a mistake; they let their guard down, and Jay White expertly exploits it to win.
So this match began with Jay’s regular strategy of matching his opponent move for move, bringing in his Bullet Club associates, and just generally being infuriating. When he thinks he’s got Ibushi sufficiently irritated, he goes for it, he deploys his favorite technique: come on, get mad, I dare you. I’m in your head.
But what good is it to get inside the head of a man who deliberately runs on feelings? When Jay hits Ibushi and looks for that seething, fiery expression he so relishes in his opponents—the one that means his trap is laid and he’s got them where he wants them—instead he’s met with ice.
For all Jay White thrives on control, he hadn’t planned for that. Now Ibushi is in Jay’s head, in a way that few opponents before him have managed. Jay can’t quite believe it; he got the anger he sought, but anger only makes Ibushi’s strikes more precise. That moment Jay White waits for, that instant where he exploits his opponent’s blind rage, got used against him instead, and he’s thrown off enough to fall back on his heels.
Red Shoes pulls Ibushi away and Jay’s still trying to understand what’s happened. He wants his opponents to charge at him in a careless fury, instead, Ibushi stands in the center of the ring roaring a challenge at Jay; plenty furious, but totally in control. Now Ibushi is the one who’s patient. You wanted anger? Come get it. I’ll wait. And he does. He waits for Jay to walk—timidly, in a daze—over to him, even waits for Jay to decide how he’s going to approach getting exactly what he asked for.
For once, we see Jay White drop his near-constant fearless arrogance, because he knows he’s the one who’s been trapped, this time. He’s so used to goading his opponents until they lash out in anger, then capitalizing on their hasty mistakes. But it all falls apart when anger means nothing about what I am going to do to you will be a mistake.
