actually now that the clique thing is a few days old, i didn't really get involved for a reason and I don't feel super strongly in either direction

but I will say that like. while there's certainly a problem of less interaction on the fanworks/posts from less popular blogs, this isn't really a byler exclusive issue? this happens in most fandoms these days, interaction is just on a decline in general which IS. a problem but not really a "byler tumblr is cliquey" problem. in regards to any actual cliques I wouldn't say they don't exist but I don't think it's "the popular kids" themselves doing this. I don't know if the rest of you have some other bloggers in mind that I don't know about, but as someone who is mutuals with a fair amount of who I thought were the popular blogs, they are always very nice and welcoming to me, and actually easy to talk to once you just. see them and talk to them as a normal human and not an omnipotent fandom god. so this is all to say that if there's a clique issue I think it's from the outside. I think maybe people are perceiving these bigger blogs who all happen to be friends as these untouchable idols in fandom and it's. making it cliquey from the outside. like are they a clique or have you just convinced yourself they wouldn't want anything to do with you and isolated this group from everyone else. this isn't to say that people can't be assholes of course just that I don't think any of this is intentional

Talking about danganronpa ship discourse in 2022??? What??? But lmao this is honestly just my opinions on togakure (togami and hagakure) or like any ship in general involving hagakure. 

Tldr, he’s an adult and met the cast when they were minors so shipping him with anybody would be strange as it would be the same thing as a college student waiting for a high schooler they know to get old enough so they can date them.

Further argument in extension below:  I feel like people tend to forget that Hagakure was held back three times. This is something he states in ch 5 during daily life, more specifically

I got this screenshot with help from the THH game archive which honestly is a life saver if you want to read through the whole game but back to the point. In Danganronpa Summer camp, he also states in a discussion that he is one of the two only adults on the island, with the other being his mother. (Who’s a whole milf but thats besides the point) In Japan, they have 3 instead of 4 years of high school, so the thh cast is 16, and since hagakure was held back 3 times, he’s 19. If you include their school year that passed by and they forgot because of the tragedy and whatnot, the thh cast are now in their 2nd year. That means that hagakure is 20. This is backed by the wiki, but the wiki seems to flop between 21 (english version which he states himself in the prologue) and 20 (in japan) when referring to his age, so I’ll keep saying 21 as that’s how old he is in english. (Though him being 20 doesn’t make shipping him any less worse)

I’ve seen the argument before that it’s ok to ship hagakure with togami in future because they’re both adults and yeah it’s true. That togami is an adult that is, not the shipping aspect. Mainly because in short, it’s wrong to ship an adult who knew someone as a minor even if they’re an adult now. It’s like having a college student know a high schooler and then wait until they’re older to date them which is insanely creepy. That and I know he and leon are popular (amongst hagakure ships anyway) but Leon never lived to be an adult. He was pummeled in thh which would take place during what was supposed to be his sophomore year in high school. 

Anyway, I’m not gonna tag any of the ships the dudes popular with as my whole reason why I’m posting this on tumblr and not twitter is to not gain hostile attention. And that would be like poking a bear with a stick lmao. This is more of me using tumblr as a way to rant with a very slight chance that other people would read this and go oh! That’s interesting!

Also this is dumb but I started wondering how I would've reacted to Miraculous Ladybug when I was a kid, at various ages? I 100% would've watched it and loved it, and I KNOW I would've come up with my own original characters

What I wonder about is how I would've reacted to Adrien and Marinette. Like, for some shows, I root for what is obviously the main, intended love interest of the show but gravitate towards a lonely side character. In this case, who? Would it have been Luka that I made an OC girlfriend for? Probably would've made her a holder of the mouse miraculous to go with him getting the snake.

For some shows, I totally hate what is obviously the main, intended love interest, and in most cases the female lead has to stay on the show so I just sort of let her do her thing but create a much better original character do not steal for the male lead. So I wonder if I would've done THAT instead of gravitating towards the lonely side characters. I mean Luka wasn't even in season 1 and we don't really get enough screen time for the guys who ARE in it except for Nino, and he sucks. So if that was the path that younger me went on, what would I have done? Would there have been some "white cat" miraculous that pairs up with the black cat miraculous? She probably would've been like Adrien - a young, rich model who's lonely because she's been sheltered her whole life, and he falls for her because who else can understand him? She's also of course kind, talented, beautiful, everybody likes her because every OC I made when I was like 11 was like that if they weren't outrageously quirky but too quirky for anyone to be like "hey you're really annoying, leave us alone."

It's just a weird thing I was thinking about the other day - if this show had been on when I was a kid, what would my reaction to the love stuff have been? For Sailor Moon I left Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask completely alone, and ignored the very rarely present love interests for the other girls in the anime and just made my own. For Ranma 1/2, I left Ranma and Akane alone but did introduce another fiancee just for kicks, while creating an OC for Ryoga (this was before his canonical love interest showed up). And then for Inuyasha I basically went "nah, fuck you" to every single love interest and made up my own for all the dudes, leaving Sango and Kagome forever alone and Kikyo dead.

So I couldn't say for certain which path I'd choose if Miraculous had been on when I was a kid. And I'll never know, but it's fun to think about. But I mean I LOVED black cats as a kid so I know I would've loved Adrien/Cat Noir. And although in the real timeline I was initially hesitant about Luka, he turned into one of my favorite characters so I probably would've liked him enough to make a love interest for him.

...Which then brings us to the question, if I chose the path of "Adrien falls for someone else" would I have decided to pair Marinette up with Luka, or still made another love interest for him? Probably.

I also just had a horrifying realization that if this show was on when I was 10 I would definitely have made kwamis based on Pokemon. All the jewels would just be Pokeball keychains and like if you had the Pikachu kwami you would have the power of Thunderbolt, the Squirtle kwami would give you the power to shoot water guns or something. I made Pokemon-themed Sailor Scouts, I know I would've made Pokemon-themed miraculousessesesesses.

Artists really don't even get a fraction of the credit they deserve.

I just remembered when I saw someone make Sonic a transmed and you know what, that's incorrect. Fuck opinions bro, that is the most dogshit take I've ever seen. I remember once, during the Las Nevadas arc (think like, right after the first stream Wil and Tom went there and spoke with Q), I went into the NV tag because I like looking at the art there from time to time. Some asshole was having baby rage that someone on Twitter realized there were some similarities between LN arc stuff and NV. Like, they were so so upset that someone would dare compare the story bits to the game. How dare!! It was honestly pretty funny. NV as a game is no way perfect, it has a lot of issues, it’s DLCs as well. Especially a certain DLC. So there was some irony to it as well.

I know eventually a few other people also realized the similarities. There aren’t many, but still a good few. Very fascinating. I made my character/sona the courier, with this whole story of going from the wasteland to the smp world, because of my block game username. I ain’t gonna just not take the opportunity when it’s right there. Can’t wait for people to get pissy about that.

Okay I kept thinking about this post and Steve being a BNF of Corroded Coffin message board of the internet of yore.

Alright so way back in the nineties Suzie hooks everyone up with the internet, yes? Yes. Eddie and Steve got together in '92 after some mutual pining and a few disastrous relationships that couldn't handle 1) Steve and Robin's general QPR clinginess 2) Eddie's intensity 3) the secrecy required if having multiple years of monster fighting and subsequent NDAs and the trauma associated therein. They're older and more settled and ready for an Adult Relationship.

Corroded Coffin is gaining traction and doing really well and the internet is still a brave new frontier, so Steve says to Eddie something like "I'm going to see if there's some message boards about you 🥰" and find them he sure does. So he makes accounts and posts under the username EddiesOnlyGroupie because he's hilarious and also the mods banned him from using EddieMunsonsHusband (he figured it was fine on the internet because nobody actually knew who he was but APPARENTLY NOT homophobia lives on in the digital age). He gets pretty well known in the Corroded Coffin fandom, most assuming he's a woman because he will go off on how hot Eddie looked at a gig. Like. Saying unhinged internet shit because 1) true and 2) he and Eddie think it's so funny. Everyone kinda believes the groupie thing too because of all the performance pics he's able to post and how he'll sometimes offer tidbits if knowledge about the band.

When they transition from chatrooms to livejournal etc he follows, with the same username. He's kind of a legend by the mid aughts. EOG is the acronym people use when discussing theories on his identity, and he's like "guys I'm literally his only groupie it's self explanatory. Guys why don't you believe me Eddie hasn't slept with anyone but me since 1992. We're basically married". He goes "it's not a mystery we literally are in love and Jeff and I go to Cubs games and cry when they inevitably lose together. Gareth is Godfather to my cats" (Eddie is still offended that he was not named Sassafras and Moonshine's godfather when Steve and Robin adopted them in '89). No one believes him.

Possibly because he still thirsts after Eddie and whenever someone posts a new Eddie pic those in the know wait for him to pop up with comments like "I want to bite his neck omg" "he has no ass but nobody is perfect I'll settle between his thighs anyway" and "literally a crime I am not married to him right now what the fuck" As twitter grows he swoops in to grab his handle, and follows a bunch of other CC fan accounts (some of them old friends, some of them new to the scene)(EOG 100% has his own fanlore page, which also has speculation on who he is and how he gets all the bts pics. It also doesn't believe when he says what it says on the tin. He's Eddie's only groupie.)

tumblr and tiktok come round and Steve is like. Openly horny on main. He's seen some shit go down on the internet but he's still commenting on Eddie fan edits that are title shit like "why am I attracted to this middle-aged white man" and "retro cc fancam" with things like "I'd let him lick the inside of my ear and only bring it up to tease him on special occasions" "his FINGERS" "back in '89 Jeff and Howie and Claire staged a mutany over this song because they were 'sick of Eddie only writing about biting bats' lmao" and "Jeff is my favourite member of cc"(just to stir the pot)

Eddie comes out in the 2010's and he's like "yeah I've been in a long term relationship with someone who is usually mostly a man kinda (gender is fucky) for the past twenty years, lol. His name's Steve. I love him a lot even if he mocks me online." and of course EOG comments "the mods of that old message board should have let me keep my original handle of EddieMunsonsHusband. When're you gonna make it reality, Munson? smh" and everyone is like Huh?? EOG is a MAN? And he's like yeah? Sometimes?? Not always?

(He 100% thinks this is him telling people he's Eddie's Steve. They don't get the message)

Anyways life goes on Steve continues to thirst under pictures of Eddie, he has his pronouns and name in his bio on twitter (Steve, he/him, she/her, Eddie Munson's first and only groupie 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ ) and continues to post behind the scenes photos that shockingly few people question (she always says "because I'm his groupie" though. He and Eddie think this is VERY funny and also true. Robin groans. They've been making the same joke for two decades.) and people believe it because Eddie has interacted EOG sometimes, liking photos or videos, commenting sometimes. (Steve has a more professional realname account that he rarely uses but Eddie usually tags Steve there)

And THEN Internet user EddiesOnlyGroupie says he's taking a few weeks off for her honeymoon because "I'm finally marrying the man of my dreams!" And people are happy for him but also bummed because Eddie is also taking a two week hiatus but EOG promises wedding and honeymoon photos. (Face reveal! Sorta!)((he doesn't get why people are excited because he's pretty sure he's been in a lot of Eddie's recent pictures, but whatever)

Imagine the Internet's surprise when Eddie Munson posts a collection of pictures spanning '86 to his 2016 wedding of him and Steve, including one of Steve looking seriously at an old desktop computer, captioned "Steve starting his internet career" and tags EOG.

Steve qrt with "I told yall. I'm his only groupie, and they should've let me keep EddieMunsonsHusband even if they WERE homophobic. Because now it's TRUE"

Niche internet community drama chaos ensues.
