Lizzo once quoted: 'When I was growing up, I never saw me on TV.' . The feeling is mutual. . Now, allow me to wax poetic for a second. I was told by multiple agents in my past that I didn't have 'The Look' and they were just being 'Honest'. . What they meant to say that I wasn't considered beautiful because I did not have Eurocentric features. With my natural hair, which is mine and not a wig, I would 'stand out too much' and take away from 'camera time'.. . Admittedly, I had a complex about this for a while, but grew out of it. Though my biological mother was darker than my biological father, she had the Native American / Euro features of thin lips, wavy hair and straight nose. My father, who would be considered 'light skinned' had all the Afro features, as well as the square jaw, which I took. . Now, straight up, my Old Man was hot. . Thus, I am hot. I stand out anyway. #yolo . Fuck anyone else that says otherwise. I am Daddy's Girl; I won't be ashamed that I see him daily in my mirror. What pleased me about the series: 'Wednesday' is that casting put dark skinned, big lipped, wide forehead black people on screen and gave them positions of power, excellent make up and costume. . Do not get me wrong about my mixed, or EU looking, Brothers and Sisters. I love you all and my family reflects all of us... .
