Eberwolf headcanons because I'm cramming for an exam currently delirious I'm not even halfway through-
Throwing them under a readmore cus I'm not going to make you scroll past the amount I wrote
• The reason they ride large beasts like rat worms and sit on Darius's shoulder all the time is because he uses cat logic in that Higher up = Superior
• Very few scouts understand Beast (which is what I'm calling their language) and he gets really sick of pointing and their directions getting misinterpreted so he usually goes on his assignments solo or with their beasts (And Darius if he can convince him)
• Their mouth and vocal cords aren't shaped to speak English, and even if he could they wouldn't bother learning it. He sees no point on learning a language for people who can't be bothered to try and understand theirs
• When Eber first became a coven head, Darius attempted to start a conversation with him (Darius was also a fairly new coven head at this point, abt 23 years old). When he realised they could understand, but not speak English, he took it upon himself to try and learn Beast. Eber saw this as An Opportunity and began pointing at objects and saying what they are in Beast. Darius picked it up quickly and was soon able to translate for them.
• He is perfectly capable of walking bipedaly, but finds it much more efficient to trot around on all fours.
• They spend most of his time in Darius's office rather than their own, partly to annoy him and partly because he enjoys just coexisting with people
• Beast isn't yoda-speak or overly-simplified but sentences tend to be shorter and more blunt.
• I remember reading a fanfic about Eberwolf using nicknames and titles instead of names (if I find it I will credit the author) and I imagine they call Hunter "Cub"
• He curls up on the chests of people he loves partly to soothe them to sleep with his warmth and purring and partly to protect their internal organs like a furry shield (beast habits)
• During coven meetings, they regularly shit talk his coworkers out loud since only Darius can understand them.
• Mostly Darius replies to Eberwolf in English, but when he's really tired or needs to discuss confidential information he'll just respond in Beast, which definitely throws people off seeing this distinguished gentleman speak in chirps and clicks
• When they ride on Darius's shoulder and need to get his attention they'll just yank on his ear, which absolutely pisses him off, which makes them do it more often
• He sees Darius as their brother-in-everything-but-blood, and pretty much accepted Hunter as a member of his pack immediately.
That's all I got so far, I'm going to fucking collapse 👍

A kinda Analysis of Eberwolf and what reason they might have for joining the rebel side
Tumblr media
Team RED, a.k.a Raine, Eberwolf, Darius, a.k.a undercover traitors who all rank top in their respective covens. We got two epsidoes surrounding Raine and how they are doing what they are doing because they hate the system and think forcing people into covens against their will is wrong. Raine has strong beliefs. With Darius no episodes are centered around him, but he has played enough of a secondary role in certain episodes that we can piece together his motivation. He was mentored by a previous Golden Guard. He had a lot of respect, admiration, love for his mentor. Like all the Grimwalkers before, his mentor eventually went against Belos and was killed. To make Darius head of the abomination coven Belos must either not remember who mentored Dairus, or believe he was trained to be 100% loyal to the Emperor. One more thing Belos is wrong about.
Now we have Eberwolf. We do not really know much about Eberowolf. Is Eberwolf a bipedal demon or a best demon? What does Eberwolf’s language of grunts mean? What is Eberwolfs backstory and reason for doing what Eberwolf is doing? What is Eberwolf’s gender/pro-nouns? We really do not know. Now any definitive answer to any of these will probably come in the form of quick short sentence answers/translations from Raine/Darius to questions Eda/Luz asks regarding Eber, as they all race to fight the day of unity. Until we get that I want to make some theories based on what we have of Eberwolf already
Tumblr media
So the beast keeping coven flag and sigil is of Eberwolf and these high-bread chicken pig things But in the field Eberwolf seems to commonly employ another type of Beast: ratworms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe Eberwolf lives on a farm or a ranch and has herds of different beasts. That would certainly make sense for the head of the beast keeping coven. But lets focus on Eber’s Ratworms for now. The one on top came with Eberwolf to a televised event, to represent the track. It is small, pudgy, has large red eyes, but is honestly cute to look at. Join the Beast keeping coven you will get to ride and work with cute and awesome beast like this one...right?... Well let’s look at the one bellow, that came with Eberwolf on an actual mission. It’s scared up, blind in one eye, has a broken tooth and is missing a chunk of ear. Poor thing has seen some really bad times.
Who did this to the poor beast? Another ratworm? No. Rats are incredibly social animals and generally act buddy buddy inside the pack. I cannot imagine worms exhibiting this amount of competitive hostility towards one another either. And even if you want to argue with me that these high-bread fusions may exhibit more aggression and territorial behavior than either of its human world counterparts, those are not teeth marks on its skin. How would another ratworm be able to cut it up like this without claws or hands capable of wielding a blade? It wasn’t another ratworm.
Did Eberwolf do this? Did Eberwolf beat and scar the beasts in an effort to assert themselves as Alpha and force the lower beasts to do their bidding? No. In Keeping up A Fearences we get our first look at beast keeping through Gwendolyn Clawthorne. We see that gaining control/aid of the creatures does not involve any kind of aggression or a fight. There are simple spells to alert them and bring them to your side. Also if the fact this one is wearing a collar is not enough to convince you of Eber and its relationship, then take a look at this...
Tumblr media
Eberwolf wasn’t caught by Raine and Eda’s doom song. They purposely ran into it to try an dig their pet out. Eberwolf loves these beasts more than their own life. They would not hurt any of them like that.
You know who that poor ratworm’s scars look likes? Hunter’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after hallow minds I am no longer holding onto any illusion of a belief that any of Hunter’s scars are from training accidents, standing to close to the crossfire, or mixing things up with criminals. They all come from Belos.
Belos who is a puritan witch hunter and regards all life on the boiling isles as vile, unworthy, and needing to be purged. Belos who has killed countless beings with human faces. Belos who has killed, recreated, then re-killed his own brother/nephews countless times. If he can do all that, then it is no stretch at all to believe that he would maim or purposely endanger demons. Of course someone like Eberwolf, who see’s such value in these creatures and has so much love for them (again they raced to potential death to try and help their pet) would hate that and be opposed to all of this. But if Eberwolf tried to fight Belos openly and directly they would lose, become petrified, and then there would be be no one left to protect their beasts. Eberwolf may be animalistic but as we have seen they are capable of reason, schemes, sticking to a plan, and playing the long game; as any secret rebel would have to be. I am sure they want to save the isles beast from Belos’s hate, but they are smart enough to do it right. To get in close, act subtle, find others like them, and form a plan for when the time is right...
I mostly wrote this because whenever I got into Eberwolf’s tag I either get discourse over what their gender/pronouns are (LOL) or it’s actually full of posts that are more about Raine, Raeda, or Darius. Do not get me wrong, all three are awesome and I love them. But Eberwolf is awesome too and deserves more love. Final theory Eda is a rebel because she does not like being controlled. Raine is a rebel because of their beliefs. Darius is a rebel in memory of a fallen loved one. Eberwolf is a rebel to protect the pets/beasts they love and do not want to see be abused/brought to a end.

Beastkeeping coven:
-all the safety restrictions for the animals. -zero safety precautions for the beastkeepers. You prolly aren’t living to sixty in that coven. -Eberwolf is just kinda a bad boss. Not actively horrible or anything, they just don’t solve anything on a good day. -they’re a relatively small coven, so they don’t get a lot of funding. The whole coven is constantly in a state of budget cuts. -Typically a pretty good community. -There tends to be clusters of beastkeepers in rural areas, there’s less of them in cities.
Potions coven:
-Safety is pretty 50/50. Depends on your job, really. -Vitmir is rarely seen in public, he seems to keep everything running somehow though. -Pretty large coven size. If you can’t pick a coven by the time you graduate, potions is a pretty safe bet. -There’s a pretty even spread of them across the isles. It’s not like they’ll ever run out of work.
Abomination coven:
-Safety is pretty abysmal. They’re normally so caught up in “can we?” That they never ask “should we?” -Darius keeps things together. He’s pretty apathetic, but it not like things are falling apart. -Big coven. Not the largest, certainly, but it’s a pretty popular tract choice. -Clusters of them in cities, they normally work in research facilities or factories.
Plant coven:
-Def not the safest coven. Not the worst, but the combination of deadly pants and Terra tend to make it a treacherous tract. -Terra is an active nightmare to work for. Titan help you if you get her angry. She does get shit done, though. -Despite all this, it’s the largest coven. You can’t pretend their magic isn’t useful in everyday life. -Like the beastkeeping coven, they tend to live in rural areas.
Bard coven:
-Pretty safe. Not like they’re working in particularly dangerous environments, normally. -Raine’s a very understanding boss, but the bard coven typically doesn’t come out on top when there’s arguments. -It’s the smallest coven. The reputation doesn’t really incentivize people to join. -Most of them live in pretty urban areas, but there’s a decent few in smaller towns.
Healing coven:
-Ironically dangerous, especially if we’re counting burnout as a danger. -Hettie is ruthless when it comes to her covenmates. She’s not the worst boss, but you want to avoid her if possible. -Middling coven size, on the smaller size. -There’s definitely more of them in cities, but you can find a healer pretty much anywhere.
Construction coven:
-Safest coven in existence. Seriously, their worker safety handbook is as tall as Mason and is required reading. -Mason is pretty strict with keeping things in order. -Mid coven size. -Their members don’t seem to cluster in any particular area, which is odd, considering the concentration of construction projects in cities.
Illusion coven:
-About as safe as a regular office worker in our realm. -Adrian is an absolute dick of a boss. He’s the type to randomly make people sing their reports, and then not fix anything. -Fairly small coven size. -There’s a pretty thin but even spread of them. You can find one almost anywhere, but it might not be easy.
Oracle coven:
-High risk of madness, but other than that you’re good. -Osran never really does anything. He’s just kinda not interfering. -It’s the third largest coven. Who doesn’t want to see the future? -They tend to live in the middle of nowhere. Like, seriously, where are all these supposed members?

Here’s my redesign of Vera Vernworth, Adrian and Arwynn's extremely terrifying and aging mother Oddly enough, she’s the only known retired coven head who never disappeared. She wasn't a head witch for long anyways, huge embarrassment honestly.

Something that I don't mention much but uhh yeah, FNAF x The Owl House, an au I never mention because I fear to make a complex lore and story base around the concept.

Could be for aesthetic reasons. Could be because you think you would do the best with that kind of magic. Any reason works.

Headcanon that the covens didn't go away after the glove to remove the sigils was made. A lot of those witches had already been using the same kind of magic for years and while many would likely have tried branching out, they would still mostly use the magic associated with their covens.

Owl house sona :)
Their name is Scute (she/they) and they’re a long descended relative of basilisks, which bear resemblance to basilisks but have none of their traits. Lizard witch.
Their Palisman is an alligator, and they study in the beast keeping track (which is how they learned to use magic to shapeshift, not natural)
