a rather mild day. The snow started to melt, leaving a sludgy mess on the ground. This was great for bird photography because some of the ones who like feeding on the ground came up to the photo setup. And the prettiest of them all was this gorgeous Cardinal lady. Her hair game is top notch!
exCUSE me, who taught the raccoon on my back porch how to use a HAMMOCK??
[Note: I filmed this from inside my house, don’t touch raccoons or feed wildlife! I’ll also be thoroughly washing this hammock before sitting in it again because raccoons carry roundworms 😅]
Plant NATIVE honeysuckle, not the ones you buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s. You can find them at local native plant sales or online at native plant nurseries.
Update since this is going viral:
The hummingbirds in my restored yard habitat visit ALL of the native flowers in my yard, so it doesn’t strictly have to be honeysuckle. They just tend to like flowers with trumpet shapes.
saved a common eastern bumblebee from my pool. it was too exhausted to fly so I ferried between flowers for awhile to help it regain its energy. after lots of flowers and some sugar water, it finally had the strength to fly and feed itself :)
Today's little pendant friend, a raccoon. Hang in there buddy! This was a fun pose, I might need to revisit it with some other creatures too, though I don't know if anyone will suit it as well as this lil guy.🙂
If you'd enjoy a bitty beast, please peep at Bittythings and Beasts.
It's Squirrel Appreciation Day and I decided to make a little montage. I have a love-hate relationship with these guys, especially right now that they have discovered the peanut butter and chewed through two cam cables in a week because I am not putting seeds out and they try everything. But they are still cute and it is hard to be mad at them ❤️
