March 1, 2024 - Kenya Rufous Sparrow or Kenya Sparrow (Passer rufocinctus) Found in parts of Kenya and Tanzania, these sparrows live in savannas, cultivated areas, and villages and towns. They eat seeds, including grains, and domestic scraps and feed insects to their chicks, often foraging on the ground in pairs or sometimes in small flocks. Pairs build oval-shaped nests with entrances on the side or near the top from grasses, feathers, and hair, usually in trees. Females lay clutches of three to five eggs.

Last photo from the GBBC for me. This is a male White-Throated Sparrow. He sat along with about 35 of his friends in a small tree. Skeptical at first of me approaching, eventually the flock settled down, and when it did, he went back to his chirping and calling.
I was really happy with this photo of him mid-trill. The definition on his cute little claws holding the twig really makes me happy, and his fluffy borb-like tummy makes my day feel complete.
Shot at 1/3200 sec @ f/9, 500mm on my D500.

i know they took these bird banding photos of house sparrows like this in order to show the difference between male and female but it just looks like someone’s using them as dolls for a bird marriage

'Lost and Found' releases as a print this Thursday Nov 23rd, 12PM (PT) on my store!
This was from a solo exhibition of mine, ‘Sanctuary.’ I remember this piece being sparked from a simple idea: ‘a home for the lost and wounded.’ It depicts a woman who offers her heart and body as a refuge for the lost, whom eventually find their way to her by the path of the red thread of fate. It’s there that they build a home, a sanctuary to one day find themselves whole again.
NOTE: This gold-foil edition of this print will only be available for 72-hours & will not be available again thereafter.

Eurasian Tree Sparrow. Look how striking! Take a moment to appreciate the beauty of something you might otherwise pass off as just another little brown bird.

the bridled sparrow is a small passerine bird endemic to mexico. like other sparrows, they are primarily brown, fast in flight, and often congregate in groups and sometimes join mixed-species flocks. they primarily feed on seeds and insects. they are found in tropical or subtropical high-altitude shrubland. unlike some other sparrow species, the sexes are visually the same and cannot be distinguished in the field.
