in my research ive noticed three (and a half) distinct styles ill break up each era using emojis

🍒 (2014-2016) classic dolores haze, hyper feminine, kind of childish but still in a very polished way. lots of pink, red, and white color palettes. natural makeup as it was pre youtube beauty blogger. v inspired by born to die era lana: sugar baby, glitz, being taken care of by older men, motels, mafia gf type shit. everyone was extremely well groomed no chipped nails not a hair out of place brows perfectly manicured. heavily blushed with red lips/no lips. the illusion of a teen girl playing dressup in an older girls clothes but still somehow looking endearlingly messy

🦌 (2018-2019) imagine if a creepy thrift store doll came to life. on the flipside it was also every girl in 7/11 after school. was more so focused on vent art and traumacore rather than fashion. fashion was mainly long white dresses more “angelic” looking or whatever u have in ur closet. again was less abt fashion and more abt coping/venting/explaining lolita as a book. makeup was either non existent of very natural and doll like. heavy brows, long lashes, pale skin, softly flushed lips. color palettes: whites. slow period for the aesthetic as everyone is scattered

🦋: (2019-) everyone is extremely varied. lots of influence by alternative subcultures (grunge&goth specifically) heavy boots, platforms, plaid skirts. school girl aesthetics are more popular. corsets and more theatrical pieces are incorporated. makeup ranges from natural to more out there. post insta baddie culture. light blush, glossy lips, long lashes + liner. on the other end: sharp brows, graphic eyeliner, matte lips. takes inspiration from tumblr grunge. more scattered not really a set look but there are some patterns

🦩 (other half of 2019-) trailer trash aesthetics. based more on lana del reys “lizzie grant” eras. quote unquote “trashy” prints such as cheetah prints, flamingos, palm trees. based on alida simone (babydarko) despite her being antisemetic, platform sandals, wonky/huge eyelashes, explicitly altered lips, denim, tube tops, gaugy jewelery, exposed thongs color palettes: neons
