what do you headcanon / think about nations and their apparently polyamorous nature / habits?

When you have 2k + years behind you its difficult to stay monogamous. It also makes little sense. These beings know that a lover could turn rival at the firing of a single bullet. I'm sure younger, more naive nations i guess, have tried the monogamy thing, but found out soon enough its very difficult to upkeep. I mean, they can love someone for centures, millenia and a physical relationship doesnt equal love, so theres no point in pretending. They will not grow old and die alone if they don't find "the one" the way humans do. Besides, their political roles as well as historical ones don't really allow for a relationship between nations to last and be monogamous in the human sense. I hc that their emotions and bond to idividiauals is very much human but their long life span prevents the bond to last.
