"ℯ𝓁 𝓂𝓊𝓃𝒹ℴ ℯ𝓈 𝓉𝒶𝓃 ℊ𝓇𝒶𝓃𝒹ℯ, 𝓁𝓁ℯ𝓃𝒶𝓇ℯ́ 𝓊𝓃𝒶 𝒸𝒾𝓊𝒹𝒶𝒹 𝒹ℯ 𝒻𝓁ℴ𝓇ℯ𝓈 𝓈ℴ𝓁ℴ 𝓅𝒶𝓇𝒶 𝓉𝒾"
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Im gonna thank modern medicine when i go on hrt soon got that appointment to make tomorrow. Well call & have them call me back when they are open. Oh yeah for sure i need to go back to the ocean again soon. Yeah for sure trial by you have to sure helps when you gotta pick up the languages. Oh big mood my spoken spanish is. Not as good as what i can understand. Remembering the two polish people i met in 2013 makes me definitely believe that im not sure i ever got their names right. Definitely noted i wouldnt travel anywhere in spring or summer anyways. Oh? Ill have to build her for sure then. Give me something to do while i wait for bronya to come home & seele to re run. Im honestly starting to care for genshin less so its fine by me. Sounds like people just wanted to start fires? Or were being some type of silly? Welcome back from your vacation i hope you had fun i was waiting to reply til you got back
OH THATS SO COOL CONGRATS ON THE HRT!! i wanna go on hrt sooooo badly one day but well see how doable it will be in poland. tho i am optimistic about the future since the current extremely conservative ruling party has lost a LOT of support over the years theyve been in charge so. theres hope! and good luck with that, i luckily will get a chance relatively soon with that school trip i mentioned. tho im not 100% sure if im gonna be confident enough to be in a swimsuit in front of my class since i dont even particularly like most of them. and yeah it really is like that with languages sjfgkkgkd the only reason my spoken english is good is bc i had a LOT of one-on-one lessons with a native speaker so i went through a lot of practice. and thats ok sjfjkfj its extremely common for foreigners to not be able to pronounce polish names [and for a reason. hell language even for us] so as long as you even try nobodys gonna be mad ajjdkf. tho in my personal case its very funny bc my birthname is literally identical in a lot of languages so ppl just accentuate it incorrectly. and soften the r. i unfortunately travel mainly in spring or summer since thats when i have the most free time, but im gonna try to convince my mom to go to more colder places [i miss tromso that was my ideal climate]. anyways, yeah thats a good idea!! seriously claras counters are so unbelievably cracked since 1. big big dmg, actually her main source of it, and 2. unlimited. everytime she gets attacked she immediately counters [after her ult, she also does this for allies attacked twice] so yeah i got her very early [30 pulls on standard, my beginner 5* was bailu] and since got her e1 and rec 10/10. im waiting to get bronya as well and since i dont have kafka guaranteed and won 50.50 twice in a row im not very confident ab getting her, i hope that if i lose its at least gonna be bronya. or welt. welt is cracked. i actually uninstalled genshin from my pc a while ago since i stopped playing altogether but i might come back from fontaine since im always curious ab the new regions. tho i did completely ignore the chasm coming out when it did. idk didnt excite me that much. and yeah i also think thats the case but at the same time Hm. average day in warsaw. AND YEAH HI IT WAS SO FUN OH MY GOD I ACTUALLY HAD A MEETING YESTERDAY WITH A COUPLE FRIENDS FROM CAMP + AVERY SINCE IT WAS AVS BIRTHDAY AND. AHHH. BEST CAMP IVE BEEN ON I THINK. also one of my campmates had hair dye so i have red hair now. fun!

My Grandpa’s Diary- Pete Rakiewicz
Keep in mind this is boring. My grandpa didn’t do much during the World War. He didn’t jump out of an airplane, drop bombs, or kill anyone. He owned a monkey named Cheetah (because she cheated at cards) and killed time. But war isn’t always insteresting, sometimes it’s boring one side.
But I found his diary and it’s one of the only things of his other than his wartime harmonica than I have left of him. I thought I’d share it with you.
4/7/45 Saturday
It's been one full year on this island today (Oh, Brother)
Orientation at 1300 hours. Played poker, won about seven bucks. Took a shower, shaved, washed items of clothes, & brushed teeth - all in 20 min. Wrote a 3-pager to Pugs. Listened to Hit Parade. No. 1 song, Accentuate the Positive, was sung by Lawrence Tibbetts & it was murder no end! Sold ½ case of beer for Four Checks. Hit the hay at lights out.
4/8/45 Sunday
Went to church & communion, made Easter duty, last service of Father Neagle. Rec'd letters from Janie & Marion & 2 from Pugs. Wrote to Janie & Marion. Had tough time getting a vehicle from motor pool. Drove down to hospital to see Bearman, stayed 10 min, returned to area in time to see movie "And Now Tomorrow" starring Alan Ladd & Loretta Young. Did some bookkeeping. Hit the hay just before lights out.
4/9/45 Monday
Read Time, Look, Pic, Yank magazines. Forgot Novena & class in practical electricity. Rec'd letters from Johnny & Pugs. Wrote Pugs a 3-pager. Drank one beer just before lights out. Insect made noise like a riveting machine, spent 15 min. tracking it down with flash-light, threw pest out the door. Hit the hay no earlier than 2330 hours.
4/10/45Tuesday
Read new Time magazine. Watched part of basketball game - then the lights all over the place dimmed out - generator trouble. Saw movie "Ministry of Fear" with Ray Milland & Marjorie Reynolds - she sure is a sharp looker. That's against my motto 'cause I don't go for blondes. Wrote to Johnny. Hit the hay at 2230.
4/11/45 Wednesday
BUSY DAY - BUSY DAY
Used rake on movie area. Grenade range - expended but one, which took up rest of morning. Miller, our driver, nearly got done away with thru his own carelessness of course. He pulled ring, released lever, prepared to throw it while it was sizzling. Lucky for him he didn't hold it long enough to explode.Socked the new punching bag till my arms nearly fell off. Put together the parts & pieces of a grenade to keep as a souvenir.
4/11/45
Saw good movie "Hollywood Canteen" with millions of stars & Joan Leslie & Bob Hutton. She's awfully nice-looking -- my ideal of a girl friend. Was part of a general discussion session which was held after the movie in the mess hall. C.O. gave main points on TDRR&R & rotation. Questions asked were answered to the best of his ability. My choice was TDRR&R, the technical army name which in all respects is just a furlough with immediate return to same overseas outfit. Hit the hay at 2310 hours.
4/12/45 Thursday
Mess hall inspected by a General (Gilbreath) was not to his liking. Later, Bn, C.O. looked it over and also found it the same way. Fixed water barrels. Sprayed oil to kill grass around our barracks. Went to movie, saw"Greenwich Village" (Don Ameche - Vivian Blaine), "The Fighting Lady" story of a carrier narrated by Lt. Bob Taylor, U.S.N.R. a short on the birth of a B-29 Superfort. Wrote 3-pager to Pugs. Hit the hay at 2310 hours.
4/13/45 Friday
Last nights movie took in more than three hours. During the night, a detail worked on mess hall so it could pass the inspection tomorrow. Col. Trower is expected to be the inspector. Cleaned our barracks also for the inspection & we better pass 'cause I sure don't like working on Sunday. Punched the bag again till the arms nearly fell off. Finished Lesson 12 in bkkg. It's ready for mailing. Had a slight storm, rain came in sudden burst came in buckets and just sudden it stopped. Wonderful place for fishes in this place. Saw movie "Mark of the Whistler", Richard Dix. It was sort of a stinkeroo, just as bad as Lawrence Tibbett's singing. Wrote a two-pager to Bob's folks in answer to the letter of theirs that I received today. Have yet to write to the kid bro. Hit the hay at 2240 hours.
4/14/45 Saturday
Read "Valley of Silent Men" novel - pretty good.
Author James Oliver Curwood. Orientation 1300 hours. Passed inspection. which is a mystery to me. Paid in advance for Monday's beer. 6 bucks. Indulged in poker, came out a little ahead. Saw movie "Dark Waters" Merle Oberon, Franchot Tone - Fair. Missed Hit Parade. Listened to records in orderly room instead. Hit the hay sometime after 2300 hours.
4/15/45 Sunday
Yesterday received two letters one each from Pugs and Mom. Mom said she mailed radio & extra tubes to me, April 4. Dick may go home on leave (I hope so). Went to church, new priest, Father Kuhn.
Played softball, won 9-8 in extra inning. I stunk. Had three ice creams at P.X. Bought two Park lighters. Indulged in poker, came out a little ahead. Washed clothes. Didn't shave 'cause my face was a bit sunburned from this morning's softball game. Intended to take pictures but time flew too fast. Saw "Winged Victory" - fair. Should write a letter to Mom & to Pug but I'm too tired. Hit the hay at 2230 hours.
4/16/45 Monday
Stood memorial parade in honor of president's death. Had most of morning off, in which time I had my picture taken 3 times. Wrote to Dick, to Mom & a three-pager to Pugs. Had ice cream & cokes at P.X. Missed half of Novena. Saw movie "Rainbow Island" Dorothy Lamour & Eddie Bracken - fair. Hit the hay right at lights out.
4/17/45 Tuesday
Bought four tubes of Ipana, my favorite tooth paste, yes, yes. Watched basketball game. Bn won. It's about time the M.P.'s got beat. Saw movie "One Body Too Many" with Jack Haley, Jean Parker - fair. Wrote to Frank Powers. Hit the hay at 2130 hours.
4/18/45 Wednesday
For dinner we fried ourselves a steak with french fried potatoes & onions. Toasted my bread a bit and everything went swell with the beer I had stacked away. Didn't get any ice cream -- the line at the P.X. was from here to Madison Ave. Group was alerted last week, been packing ever since. Saw movie "I'll Remember April", Gloria Jean growed-up to nice proportions - fair. Played pinochle. Hit the hay at 2245 hours.
4/19/45 Thursday
Third time this week we had fresh sunny-side-up eggs. Had two bits worth of ice cream & coke. Sprayed oil to kill grass around barracks. Received letter each from Pugs, Mom, & Treble. Wrote a three-pager to Pugs. Gave five beers to Joe Bucher for nix on account of two of his buddies came to see him. Hit the hay no earlier than 2200 hours.
4/20/45 Friday
Wrote to Trebie. Saw movie "Keys of the Kingdom" Gregory Peck, Thomas Mitchell. Good, something on the order of "Going My Way." Had a bull session of memories on things we remembered most from back home. Hit the hay at lights out but didn't start chasing forty winks until about 2340 hours. Two pictures were good from the two rolls that were taken Sunday & Monday. (Give me strength)
4/21/45 Saturday
Read Reader's Digest. Orientation 1300 hours. Played softball against the officers, trimmed 'em alive. For myself I got one good double & a fielder's choice. Score 12-2. Washed a stack of clothes. No movie tonight for a change. Indulged in poker, was going O.K. till Kraft sat beside me. Then I lost 7 bucks. Forgot to listen to Hit Parade. Hit the hay at lights out.
4/22/45 Sunday
Went to church - 0830. Straightened my junk. Borrowed camera from Biff because we were doubtful about Bob's. Took pictures, one whole roll. Wrote to Bob's aunt & uncle in answer to letters of theirs I received yesterday. Heard Sammy Kayes's program. Turned in shoes for salvage. Got a serum shot in left arm. Hit the hay just at lights out.
4/29/45 Sunday
Co. now packing boxes. Special details only went out to work. Worked fifteen & one-half hours on Tuesday. Sprayed D.D.T. on clothes. Bought turtle-shell necklace for seven bucks - it's for Pugs. We were all set to move but the ship isn't docked as yet. Church service was given by a missionary, performed in our chapel. Been playing poker all along and I either won or came out even. Hope it continues to my benefit. All during the week we had it pretty easy - except MON. & Tues. when we tried to get ready for moving.
5/6/45 Sunday
Received letters from Janie, Bob, Moe, Bob's folks and Helen. Answered all except three of four from Pugs. Turned in roll of film to be developed next Tuesday. Saw quite a lot of movies - among them "Kismet" & "Murder My Sweet" - both were good. Received picture from Sailor Dick - he's changed a bit already. Also got a letter from Mom. It has to be answered today, Sunday. Haven't received radio as yet -- but I guess it's due in this week. Had training lectures all last week with afternoons off. Calisthenics gave me sore muscles - cadence exercise for twenty minutes all last week, Due to see "Guest in the House" tonight. Reveille was changed from 5:30 to 6:30 - good deal. Movie was changed to "Here Comes the Waves". Golly, that Bing can sing! Answered Mom's letter.
5/7/45 Monday
Played poker, lost a few bucks, then won to get back to my original thirty-five. Saw "Guest In the House" starring Ann Baxter, Ralph Bellamy - good picture, she did a nice bit of acting. Had more of same stuff of last week. Forgot to mention we had from seven to ten shots in the last ten days.
5/9/45 Wednesday
Packed all our stuff & equipment, emptied the barracks. The band played solid for us right in front of our company. Went to see three-fourths of "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". Then we were called to the company area. Piled 100 fellows, duffel bags, packs etc. into cattle truck. Left at nine o'clock, boarded the Bluem Fontaine, a Dutch (?) ship, at ten.
5/10/45 Thursday
Docked at Tulagi in the morning. At sea sometime in the P.M. In the next two weeks we had air raid drills, exercises, long lines for P.X. & chow & you had to be a contortionist to find a decent place to park your carcass. Chow wasn't any too good. The hold was next to hell. I had five days of K.P. & it was murder.
5/24/45 Thurs.
Docked at Batangas, P.I. in anchorage. Hit the shore in "Ducks". Flips greeted us with joy. I caught a blister-rash which caused me a lot of agony. Made friends with Jon, Mary & Eusabio. Invited to a chicken dinner. It was good. The first three days we slept in pup tents - with centipedes crawling over our stomachs. Then we changed to pyramidals. The first thing I noticed was that most of the kids had jungle ulcers all over their legs. Then we moved to the Guadalupe ruins on the outskirts of Manila. It was another hill-camp almost like Guadalcanal.
6/4/45 to 7/16/45
Stayed in camp most of the time, saw quite o bit of movies. That lasted about 5 to 6 weeks. Then Ronnie introduced me to Lydia and you couldn't find me in camp. Her brother taught me basic tango and rhumba. Rec'd my radio in good condition. It came 7-7-45 or thereabouts. Also about this time, I rec'd the photo album from Pugs, filled it with pictures I had on hand.

CRAWFORD: WOLF PACK WEEKLY: December 9-15, 2019
Tumblr media
BY: Bob Crawford, Hartford Wolf Pack HARTFORD, CT - The Wolf Pack (14-4-2-5, 35 pts.) swept three games in three days this past weekend, to move into a first-place tie with the Providence Bruins in the Atlantic Division.  On Friday night in Springfield, in the last of five straight road games, the Wolf Pack rebounded from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to score the last four goals of the game, in a 5-2 over the Thunderbirds.  A line of Danny O’Regan (2-1-3), Vinni Lettieri (1-1-2) and Phil DiGiuseppe (0-2-2) combined for seven points in that game, as the Wolf Pack snapped an 0-3-2-0 drought.  On Saturday night, the Wolf Pack improved their home-ice record to 9-1-0-2 in their return to the XL Center, knocking off the Binghamton Devils, also by a score of 5-2.  Steven Fogarty struck for the Wolf Pack’s first four-point game of the season to lead the way, with 2-2-4, and linemate Lias Andersson added 2-1-3.  Then, in a showdown with division-leading Providence on the road Sunday, the Wolf Pack got a goal from Patrick Newell 62 seconds into the game and never looked back, downing the Bruins 4-1.  Lettieri scored twice in that game, and Newell also added an assist, for his first multiple-point game as a pro. For the latest AHL standings, click here. This week: The Wolf Pack will play three games this week, finishing a busy stretch of six games in nine days.  The Binghamton Devils return to the XL Center on Wednesday night, for a 7:00 PM game, and then the Lehigh Valley Phantoms make their first Hartford visit of the year Friday night (7:15), for the first half of a home-and-home.  The two clubs rematch in Allentown Saturday night at 7:05. Wednesday, December 11 vs. the Binghamton Devils (New Jersey) at the XL Center, 7:00 PM This is another chance to take advantage of the Wolf Pack’s “Click It or Ticket Hat Trick Pack”.  The Hat Trick Pack includes two tickets, two sodas, and a large popcorn, all for just $40. This is also a “Suit to Sweater Wednesday”, offered in partnership with the Hartford Chamber of Commerce.  Any fan showing a company ID at the Sunwave Gas & Power Ticket office can purchase Blue-Level tickets to Wolf Pack Wednesday home games for only $15 each (limit two tickets per ID). The Devils’ last outing was their 5-2 defeat to the Wolf Pack Saturday night at the XL Center.  That dropped Binghamton to 7-13-4-0 on the year (18 pts.). Nathan Bastian and Joey Anderson scored the Devil goals in Saturday’s game, and Gilles Senn made 24 saves in net. The Wolf Pack have won both previous battles between themselves and the Devils this season.  Prior to Saturday’s tilt, Hartford nipped the Devils 4-3 in overtime on October 19 in Binghamton. Tickets for this and all 2019-20 Wolf Pack home games are on sale now at the Sunwave Gas & Power Ticket Office at the XL Center, on-line at hartfordwolfpack.com and by phone at (877) 522-8499.  Tickets purchased in advance for kids 12 or younger start at just $10 each, and all tickets will have a $3 day-of-game increase. This is the second meeting of the year between the Wolf Pack and Phantoms.  In the first, November 30 in Allentown, Lehigh Valley scored a 2-1 overtime win.  The Wolf Pack were 3-2-0-1 in last year’s season series, 2-1-0-0 at home. Since their win over the Wolf Pack, the Phantoms (10-10-1-4, 25 pts.) have lost three straight, including a 1-0 setback at Hershey in their last action Sunday. Aside from popping up at Tekashi 6nitch9ine’s singing performance in federal court a few weeks back, Troy Ave’s been keeping a low profile for the most part but today the Brooklyn rapper comes out of the shadows for his latest video. In his visuals for “So True,” the artist known to himself as Nupac spends some quality time with a tatted up Becky with the blond hair who probably doesn’t understand the reference whenever Troy refers to himself as Nupac. We just playing, y’all. She really does look like she was born after Pac was killed though so who knows if she’s familiar with the Hip-Hop icon like that.
From the East to the South, Fast Cash links up with Boosie Badazz for a wild jailbreak in broad daylight and makes his way to the spot to turn up with his peoples in the club to “Drought.”
Check out the rest of today’s drops including work from ABG Neal, YRK Murk, and more.

Sam Poole Offers Songs For A New World as Graduation Project
Tumblr media
The Windsor arts and theatre scene has heard the works of Sam Poole for a few years.  He’s lent his skills to several local theatre companies, including Kordazone, University Players and most recently, creating music for an original adult Christmas musical from Post Productions. So how does someone like this graduate from University? With a bang, of course. For his graduation project, which he’ll be graded on, Poole chose to recreate the Jason Robert Brown epic musical theatre piece Songs For A New World, which was originally released in an off-Broadway production in 1995. Poole’s version of Songs For A New World will be open for public performances on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 1 and 2, 2019) at 8pm at the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts Armouries Building (37 University Ave W.). He’s bringing along a four-piece band and four of the city’s brightest young singers to pull it off. 519 Magazine was invited to a rehearsal this week to check it out and audiences are in for a musical treat this weekend when the live performances and the educational grading begins. Songs For A New World is not an easy soundtrack to pull off. It musically bounces from theme to theme with some of the most vocally demanding parts out there. He’s put a lot of faith in his singers to help him graduate, but each one of them has incredible skill. Female singers Sara Fontaine and Kaitlyn Karns provide much of the feminine in the show – Fontaine was fabulous during Stars and the Moon and Kaitlyn Karns pours the emotion in I’m Not Afraid of Anything, a song that is quickly becoming a signature piece for her (she performed it at Cabaret For A Cause earlier this year. Michael Roy offered touching vocal performances in his romantic songs like She Cries and I’d Give It All For You, while Benjamin Doncom offered a bit more colour with his flashy characters in songs like The Steam Train and King Of The World. Doncom will also be performing with Tiffany Taylor and Nikki Knight at a Windsor Express pre-game concert as part of the 519 Premium Concert Series on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Even during a rehearsal, it was obvious that this piece takes a lot of skill and effort to pull off – and it’s certainly not the usual fair for a graduation session. Poole rocked the piano for the whole show, offering minimal vocals to open and close the show. His playing was smooth and commanding – all he needs it the flashing coat with tails and it’d feel like a grand show on a grander stage. The accompanying band was solid, with Alex Aideira-Leite on bass, Michael Karloff on synth, Nicholas Baddeley on drums and Vanessa Harnish on percussion. Songs For A New World is an unforgettable experience. The music is stunning and the vocals are mesmerizing – it’s certainly more than just a performance to get graded on, it’s a performance to set the tone for an incredible career ahead. Catch Songs For A New World while you can, this Friday and Saturday (Feb. 1 and 2, 2019) at 8pm at the University of Windsor’s School of Creative Arts Armouries Building (37 University Ave W.). Tickets are $15 and available at the door or at http://www.uwindsor.ca/music/533/songs-new-world.

#OnTheRoadAgain. We El Paso County Young Democrats - EPCYD returned to our adopted stretch of Fountain Mesa Road (between Fontaine Blvd. and Fortman Ave., at the north end of Fountain, Colorado), and we cleaned it! EPCYD Chair Ryan Macoubrie, Secretary Jason Arnold, and Board Members Kelsey Brown and John Jarrell were joined by special guest Tim Dolan to work hard on our road, keeping it clean! We filled 8 trash bags! We also survived the squirrel massacre, and played with some friendly goats and chickens! ("Here critter, critter, critter!") Although none of the many discarded scratch lottery tickets we found were winners, yet we did find $1 and a penny -- so we were winners there!

Raymond L. Brown, age 82, of Pascagoula and Gautier, Mississippi, passed away unexpectedly on a walk on the trails of his property with his beloved dog Bebe, work gloves on.
He was looking forward to being inducted into the inaugural class of the Sugar Bowl Hall of Fame in New Orleans next week on New Years Day 2018.
He was born in Clarksdale in 1936 and spent his early years in Greenville, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell L. Brown and his mother, Agnes Brown Mason, and by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn “Lyn” Shoemaker Brown. He is survived by his daughter, Allison Brown Buchanan (Patrick), of Biloxi, son, Raymond L. Brown, Jr. (Virginia Mary), of Houston, Texas, Beverly Brown Dees (Hale), of Ocean Springs, and eight grandchildren, Hawtin and Frances Buchanan; Raymond, III, Thompson, Patrick and Walker Brown; and Wesley and Sydney Fontaine. He leaves two brothers, Jerry Russell Brown and Donald Hays Brown of Greenville, and a sister, Sally Rebecca (Beki) Brown Morgan, Montgomery, Alabama.
Raymond graduated from Greenville High School, where he was a student leader and four-sport athlete, served as president of the student council, QB and captain of a state championship football team, was most valuable player in the former Big 8 conference, and was first-team high school All-American. He played in the high school All-American game in 1954.
He attended Ole Miss on a football scholarship, where he was a student leader and played both football and baseball. He was President of the Business School, was on three football bowl teams, and on a college world-series baseball team at Ole Miss. He was All-SEC in football, having led the SEC in passing in 1956 and in total offense in 1957. He was the Most Valuable Player in the 1958 Sugar Bowl. His 92-yard touchdown run still stands as the longest run in Sugar Bowl history. He then played in the Senior Bowl and in the College All-Star Game, which is no longer played. The College All-Stars defeated the NFL champion Detroit Lions in that game.

At Ole Miss, he was affiliated with Sigma Chi social fraternity, of which he was an officer, and was selected for Omicron Delta Kappa, a scholarship-leadership society.
Achieving a business degree (BBA) from Ole Miss, he then attended both Ole Miss and Maryland law schools, earning a law degree from Ole Miss. In law school, he was inducted into Phi Delta Phi honorary fraternity and earned the honor of writing for the law journal. While earning his law degree, he played three years of professional football with the Baltimore Colts, attending, alternately, the Ole Miss and Maryland law schools. He was a member of two NFL championship teams, playing as starting defensive back and punter in the famous sudden death1958 championship game against the NY Giants in Yankee Stadium in New York City, which is called the Greatest Game Ever Played. In addition to his defensive and punting roles, he was an alternate at quarterback for the great Johnny Unitas.
Finishing law school after professional football, he earned a law clerkship at the United States Supreme Court, where he clerked for Justice Tom Clark.
He was active and a leader in the community and in his profession. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pascagoula, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, among other positions. He served as Chairman of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, of which he was a Board member for many years, President of Pascagoula Rotary and President of the Jaycees. In 1964 he was Young Man of the Year in Pascagoula. He was the attorney for the Pascagoula Municipal School District for thirty years and was a local board member of the Hancock Bank. After moving to Gautier, he served on the Gautier Historic Preservation Commission.
His professional leadership included President of the Mississippi Bar, Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, which he served as State Chair and as a Regent (national Board member), representing the Fellows of four states, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas for four years. He was recognized with Lifetime Achievement awards by both the Mississippi Bar and the Mississippi Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Brown served as President of the Ole Miss Alumni Association and President of the Ole Miss Law Alumni.
He believed strongly in the United States Constitution, and often spoke to civic clubs and other organizations to encourage knowledge of and support for our Constitution.
An instrument-rated pilot, he flew his own plane on business and to many Ole Miss football games.
His many honors include induction into several Halls of Fame. His student leadership at Ole Miss was recognized by his induction into the Ole Miss Student Hall of Fame; his service to Ole Miss, by his induction into the Ole Miss Alumni Hall of Fame; his professional career, by induction into the University of Mississippi Law Alumni Hall of Fame; and his athletic career, by his induction into the Ole Miss Athletic Hall of Fame, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, the Sugar Bowl Hall of Fame, and, in 2007, the 12-person Wall Street Journal Lawyer-football Hall of Fame, along with Justice Byron White, Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and President Gerald Ford.

A new big city - strange, clever and yummy!
I was a little nervous to book a flight on Air Asia across the China Sea (ya know, that whole losing planes thing), but a number of friends told me I was being silly and so for $100 I took a 7-hour flight from KL to Tokyo. Intensifying my fear was the fact that it was empty - with fewer than 10 passengers in the "special" section (I think I paid $2 for a window seat) which had about 90 seats. Needless to say, the empty flight was lovely - even more so because I was smart enough to pre-order 2 meals for the long flight! The airport was super efficient (surprise surprise) and reminded me that the US is so disgustingly behind. I appreciate that Tokyo and Sing and HK may be on a different level, but even KL and Bali were better than most US airports!! We arrived around 11 and after customs and my bags I caught the last train towards the center of town. For new solo travelers, I always ask an attendant but honestly it's tough to go wrong if you swim in the direction of the other salmon with airport trains. There was a super sweet Japanese woman who thought I was with 2 other backpackers and thought we were all mountain climbers. We explained backpacks are just easy and she covered her mouth to laugh at this. *cute* On the train I looked at a subway map for the first time - wow, tokyo is confusing! And in Japanese! The nice woman helped me though, both with where we were and my transfer. Alas, I messed it up though and stepped off the last train of the night a bit too early. When I got to the exit and realized I had only put $3 (330 yen) on my ticket I snuck out, playing the dumb tourist card. Oops! My $30 taxi ride for just a few miles though was karma getting back at me… After 2 bad hotel experiences on this trip I was afraid to get to the Villa Fontaine but it is actually super nice! In my room they thought of everything from pjs, to English fan directions, to hangers on the wall, 2 types of slippers and tons of bath products. It was simple (only $100 a night) but super clean - perfection. This morning I woke up for breakfast and then did a bit of planning - there is a LOT to do here!! Around noon I headed out and found a BIC Camera store to buy a SIM card - I almost forgot what it's like to have data. It's brilliant, but also very necessary in a not-so-English friendly city. I walked around Ginza (where I'm staying) for most of the afternoon with a few important food stops. The first was for the best ramen I've ever had at Ginza Kagari. The original stand was a few blocks away but I opted for the train station version with a shorter (but still 30 min) wait for traditional Japanese bar seating; only 10 places! Instead of a basic clear broth it was almost creamy chicken soupy - it was incredible and I ate every last bite, ignoring the "Japanese women only eat until they're 90% full" rule. Then I went shopping!! Ginza is the Park Ave of Tokyo and while I resisted the common luxury US stores I did spend an hour in Itoya which is a Japanese institution. It's a stationary store, naturally, but with 6 levels of stationary, stickers, pens, notebooks and little gadgets! I spent more than I care to admit on black cat stickers. Then I headed to the famed Shibuya Crossing where hundreds to thousands cross a circular intersection, said to be the most in the world. Maybe it's a sign that I've seen too much of the world or gotten too accustomed to cities - while very cool, it was a bit underwhelming to me. Still, I got a green matcha tea and enjoyed the view as Starbucks had intended, for their perfect 2nd floor spot. For dinner, I tried Shabu shabu which is a type of meal where they prepare boiling broth, you cook thin slices of meat and/or vegetables and then you dip the cooked food into either a soy sauce vinegar or a sesame (nutty) brown sauce. I've heard about it in the states but never tried it - but my friend Andy recommended this place so I made a reservation and attempted to show up on time. Actually, I arrived to the train station / shopping mall / food court complex at 7 but it took me another 30 minutes to find to find the restaurant. What I've learned today is that landmarks are not only useful, but essential for restaurants. No one had heard of Imahan shabu shabu, but everyone knew ramen street, so I asked and wandered, asked and wandered. I thought, eventually I will stumble on the place and recognize the same Japanese characters! (Just kidding - I was pretty sure I would never find it in the sea of characters and basement of at least 60 eateries.) The food gods have been smiling on me today though and I found it! I sat down and they rummaged up an English (ish) menu for me. I ordered a portion of meat and vegetables and Sapporo. I must say the benefit to being blonde and by myself is that I'm so clearly out of place that everyone takes pity on me and is super helpful. They brought the hot plate, pot of broth, plate of beef, plate of veggies, sauces and a pot of water (to clean the broth - or at least that's what I did with it). They also brought a bib and directions in English. Fantastic. One of the waitresses looked at me expectantly and I asked if she could demonstrate - which was great until she started piling food into my sauce bowl! (I asked for a plate but that's not what is done.) I never thought I was a slow eater but in Asia I eat at a grandmotherly pace. (Ghays, I think this is a virtue!!) I told them I could handle myself (at my own pace) and they trusted me with the hot plate for the rest of my meal. Yum, yum, yum - it was delicious. At the end of my meal, I went to the front to pay and the waiter followed me out of the restaurant -- I thought I had forgotten my credit card, but he just wanted to give me the final bow!! Touché Tokyo.

He is a sweet, friendly, goofy boy who won us over with his adorable smile and genuinely happy demeanor. Chico has a typical energy level of any pup his age and would excel in an active household. This handsome boy was super gentle with treats and displayed perfect manners at his food bowl. Chico loved diving into our toy selection, happily sharing them with us for some one on one play time. He did great sharing his rawhide, releasing it whenever asked. Chico did well greeting the male dog outside, eagerly wagging his tail the entire time. Stop by and meet Chico Fontain today.
