Fetty Wap Arrested By FBI For Alleged Role In Opioid Drug Ring, What We Know

Rapper Fetty Wap has been arrested and is facing charges after allegedly being a part of a bicoastal opioid drug ring.
According to Deadline, Fetty Wap, real name William Junior Maxwell, was arrested last week at New York’s CitiField on a two-count federal indictment. The “Trap Queen” rapper was going to be a part of the three-day Rolling Loud music festival at the New York Mets’ home stadium but never made it to the stage. After the arrest, Maxwell stood before a Long Island judge on charges of being what the government is calling a “kilogram-level dealer” of opioids.
News of the arrest comes just a week after the release of The Butterfly Effect, the rapper’s second studio album—inspired largely by the death of his young daughter Lauren earlier this year.
Fetty Wap was reportedly one of several people who are charged with trafficking in relation to the case, which alleges that they worked to move heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and more from the West Coast for distribution in Long Island. FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll issued a statement after the arrest, noting that, “The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a corrections officer as part of the conspiracy illustrates just how vile the drug trade has become.”
Search warrants in various locations tied to the ring yielded confiscations of roughly $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of heroin, numerous fentanyl pills, two 9mm handguns, a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol and ammunition.
Originally, Maxwell’s name was blacked out on the indictment but became public after it was unsealed this weekend, listing him as one of five defendants in the case.
Fetty Wap has pled not guilty to all the charges.

Last week French Montana found himself defending his music career when trolls suggested he hasn’t had a hit of his own since the inception of his career. Looking to add another hit to his singles catalogue, French comes through with his latest joint “I Don’t Really Care” and for it’s visuals the Bronx rapper reacreates many memorable Hip-Hop moments including Biggie’s video to “Hypnotize” and Eminem getting ready to battle rap in his 8 Mile film. Overall it was pretty damn entertaining.
Back on the Left Coast, YG shows that whenever he rides he moves deep and in his clip to “Sign Language” he calls on his comrades to pull out the motorcycles and low riders to back him as he rolls through the streets of California.

Will Smith Discusses Having Thoughts of Suicide In His New Series

Will Smith opened himself up in a stunning vulnerable moment in the trailer for his YouTube series where he revealed that he once contemplated taking his own life.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star and globally beloved entertainer made the admission during his documentary series, Will Smith: The Best Shape of My Life. The series chronicles his journey to lose 20 pounds in 20 weeks, although there was something else he stumbled upon along the way. “When I started this show, I thought I was getting into the best shape of my life, physically,” Smith says in the preview. “But, mentally, I was somewhere else. And I ended up discovering a whole lot of hidden things about myself.” He then goes on to reference a conversation that he had with his loved ones including his children Trey, Willow, and Jaden and reveals his thoughts about self-harm in a tearful moment: “That was the only time in my life that I ever considered suicide.” There isn’t any further context given afterward.
The series does coincide with the impending release of Smith’s upcoming memoir this month, where he has stated that the book will give the public a more detailed and intense look at his journey to being a global superstar. Smith also wants to give the world a look into how he addressed his struggles with mental health spurred by the pandemic. “What you’ve come to understand as Will Smith, the alien-annihilating MC, bigger-than-life movie star, is largely a construction, a carefully crafted and honed character designed to protect myself, to hide myself from the world. To hide the coward,” he says in the trailer.

Star Wars ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Trailer Is Here

After decades of being one of the most popular Star Wars character in the franchise, Boba Fett is finally getting his own solo series on Disney+ and it looks like it’s going to be an intergalactic Sopranos or something.

In the first trailer to the highly anticipated series, The Book of Boba Fett, the beloved bounty hunter and his trustee sidekick Fennec Shand travel to the sands of Tatooine with the goal of taking over the throne that Jabba the Hutt left behind when he was killed in Return of The Jedi. Looking to become the new boss of the underworld, Boba’s claim to the throne is met with resistance from Jabba’s old capos who doubt his legitimacy.
Looking to rule with respect instead of an iron fist, a confident Boba asks those who question him to “speak freely” after finding himself sitting on Jabba’s old throne.

Kanye West Holds Halloween Sunday Service With Creepy White Guy

Kanye West has resumed his popular Sunday Service concerts once again, with the most recent one having an infamous attendee – rock star and alleged sexual abuser Marilyn Manson.
Ye hosted the religious musical event on Halloween Sunday (October 31st), and this time according to TMZ it was made available to viewers on Triller and the Fite TV app at 4 P.M. Eastern time for a fee of $10. The “Father Stretch My Hands” rapper and producer gave the public the heads up via his Instagram page.

As the concert began with Justin Bieber joining the Sunday Service Choir for a rooftop performance of songs from West’s latest album Donda, Manson was seen right up front alongside the choir members. Roddy Ricch also performed, doing “Pure Souls” with the choir. Bieber even recited a poem thanking God for everything in nature. Everyone in attendance was decked out in white, with some opting for hoods and face coverings. At one point, West – who noticeably had his eyebrows shaved off – bowed towards the controversial rocker, their foreheads touching and both men closing their eyes with Bieber joining them.

Manson’s appearance at the Sunday Service concert stoked up some backlash from observers online, given that he’s currently facing a slew of lawsuits charging him with sexual assault including one highly detailed accusation from former girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood.

Manson’s presence marks the second time he’s made a live appearance at a Kanye West event, with the first being on stage with the rapper at his Donda listening event held in Soldier Field in West’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois earlier this year. It’s apparent that West and Manson have formed a real friendship, and that West isn’t too concerned about all of the troubles that are swirling around Manson or the wave of backlash that has come with hanging out with him in this manner.

Wale Details Why He Dropped Roc Nation As His Management [Video]

Rappers are always good for rash decisions and Wale is not excused from that rule of thumb. He admits he was speeding when he dropped Roc Nation as his management agency.
As spotted on Hype Beast the Maybach Music Group talent made an appearance on Drink Champs recently. N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN got him to discuss his come up, his newest project Folarin 2 and much more. As usual the hosts asked him questions regarding some of his most career defining moments and one was about his departure from Roc Nation. He pointed to the fact that his take home pay was noticeably smaller with the Roc’s involvement.
“I was in the Hov cypher for a long time, and there was a time that I was on tour with J. Cole and at this point, I was opening for him,” he said. “And somebody in my circle was like, ‘You’re losing like, five grand every time you go on stage. You’re losing money.’ I couldn’t make sense of it. I just really had a meltdown. And I remember, I just quit the tour. It’s been all love since. I learned a lot from them. And Jay is still my idol.”
Over the weekend Wale relayed the same sentiment after Jay-Z was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame via Twitter. “almost shed that lil water out my eyes last night for S. Carter .” he wrote. “We need to soak up more game from the OGs in Hiphop .. this genre has to be protected ..”

Mariah Carey Is Amped About Christmas 2021, Drops Teaser Video

Mariah Carey sure does love the Christmas season.
October is barely a few hours into the past and already the iconic singer has put out a Christmas themed video on her IG page to ring in the 2021 Holiday season. A little after midnight last night Mariah put out a teaser video in which she took a candy cane colored baseball bat to some pumpkins that read “IT’S NOT TIME” before her classic Christmas cut “All I Want For Christmas Is You” spun. Celebrating the incoming holiday season, the “Fantasy” singer donned a fitted Santa Clause outfit while throwing up confetti and even showed a present wrapped that read “11/5” on it.
Could Mariah have a gift for her fans for this coming Friday? A new song? A new Christmas album? Her Merry Christmas album is the third highest selling Christmas album of all-time with 5.7 million units sold, so we wouldn’t be surprised if she returned with a new installment and made bank all over again.

Rihanna Rocks Same Fit Gunna Wore For New York Fashion Week For Halloween

Rihanna has one heck of a sense of humor as evidenced by her latest Halloween outfit. While Rihanna didn’t give us an extravagant high-fashion sendup on All Hallow’s Eve, she did replicate Gunna’s New York Fashion Week fit with expert ease.
Back in September, Gunna turned a lot of heads with his New York Fashion Week fit that came complete with leather knee-high sneakers, shorts, a lavish sweater, and a vest. It can be assumed that every item in the flick that Gunna shared didn’t come at a low price. Still, many on Twitter had their comments.

Showtime Launches Multi-Year ‘HIP HOP 50’ Project, Nas To Direct First Documentary

This December Showtime will kick off HIP HOP 50, its multiyear, cross-platform programming initiative celebrating the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop.
HIP HOP 50 will continue to run over the next three years and will encompass unscripted series and features, podcasts and digital shorts by and about some of the foremost names in the genre, culminating with the 50th anniversary of the genre in 2023. Grand Puba & Brand Nubian Affiliate DJ Stud Dugee Has Reportedly Passed Away

Fans of Grand Puba and his solo efforts are well aware that he ventured off on his own with DJ Alamo of his group Brand Nubian and Stud Dugee in tow. According to a tweet from Grap Luva and others, Stud Doogie has reportedly passed away and some have chimed in with thoughts.

Not much is known about the passing of Stud Dugee, and we must note that Grap Luva spelled the name Doogie and an older tweet from Brand Nubian’s Sadat X spells it as Doughie.
We happened across the Facebook page of Ron Cherry, which we can confirm is the given name of DJ Stud Dugee. Via the page, Dugee’s connection to Hip-Hop elite circles spread far and wide as he shared photos with late legends Biz Markie, Black Rob, and also appears in photos with Rakim, Ghostface Killah, the aforementioned Sadat X, and Lord Jamar.
As this story develops, we will return with updates and official statements from the family.
For now, our condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of DJ Stud Dugee. May he rest powerfully in peace.

Right.
So if you didn’t catch it at night, you missed it. But, this is the Internets, where people always find a way and you can watch it below. In the teaser, Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) is the only character from the series present, and he’s rocking gold chains and one of those Gucci sweaters from the brand’s “FAKE” collection.
Behind Paper Boi (last officially seen at the end of Atlanta season 2way back in May 2018), are what look like white servants facing a wall, their backs to the camera. The music heard in the background of the minute-long clip is Sun Ra’s “It’s After The End of the World.”
Will we know what’s going on once the season gets underway? That’s a 50/50 shot, but after getting pushed back from 2021, Atlanta is set to return in 2022. Finally.

Hall Of Fame Hova: Jay-Z, LL Cool J & More Inducted Into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

That took long enough. Jay-Z and LL Cool J were among the musical royalty, including Tina Turner, who were formally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday (October 30) night.

The induction ceremony went down at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, OH. Besides the aforementioned, the new Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class includes the Foo Fighters, Carole King, The Go-Gos and Todd Rundgren. Also getting their flowers were Clarence Avant (the Ahmet Ertegun Award) and Gil Scott-Heron, Charley Patton and Kraftwerk.

According to the Associated Press, Jay-Z’s intro included a star-studded video of some famed fans espousing on his greatness like President Barack Obama, LeBron James and David Letterman. Hova was interestingly inducted Dave Chappelle, who reportedly said, “He rhymed a recipe for survival.” Adding, “He embodies what the potential of our lives can be and what success can be.”
Also worth noting, Jay-Z made sure to shout out his fellow Roc-a-Fella Records founder Damon Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke during his acceptance speech. He also gave heavy props to Chuck D, KRS-One, Rakim, LL Cool J and, of course, Big Daddy Kane.

Infamous Drug Kingpin Alpo Martinez Reportedly Shot & Killed In Harlem

Alpo Martinez, the infamous Harlem drug kingpin, was reportedly shot and killed on Saturday night, early Sunday morning (October 30).
Born Alberto Geddis Martinez, a report about the shooting doesn’t yet mention him by name but the word on the street is starting to get out.
Reported the New York Daily News:
A 55-year-old man was killed in a drive-by shooting on a Harlem street corner early Sunday.
The victim was struck multiple times in the chest in a hail of bullets fired from a passing vehicle on W. 147th St. near Frederick Douglass Blvd. just after 3:20 a.m., cops said.
EMS rushed him to Harlem Hospital but he couldn’t be saved. His name was not immediately released.
According to the New York Post, the victim in the described shooting had a last known address in Maine. He was reportedly shot five times while in his 2017 Dodge Ram.
The New York Times confirmed the victim was indeed Martinez from an officer who spoke on the condition of anonymity. According to the police, he was carrying identification that said his name was Abraham Rodriguez.

Martinez was portrayed by rapper Cam’ron in the now cult classic film Paid In Full, which brought the story of fellow kingpins Azie Faison and Rich Porter to Hollywood. Many eyebrows were raised when after being released from prison, Martinez returned to (or at least was spotted in) Harlem after admitting that he killed his friend Porter.
In the late 80’s and early 90’s, Martinez moved his enterprise to the Washington, DC area. However, after getting pinched in 1991, he reportedly turned state’s evidence, dropping dime on his own organization including Wayne ‘Silk’ Perry in exchange for a 35-year sentence after facing life in the bing.
In total, Alpo copped to 14 murders.

Fu-Gee-Later: The Fugees Reunion Tour Postponed

Fans of the Fugees just got hit with a gut punch. The New Jersey Hip-Hop trio of Lauryn Hill, Pras Michel and Wyclef Jean announced that their planned fall tour has unfortunately been postponed.
In a statement posted on their official IG account, the Fugees relayed that they’ve decided to delay the tour until outside is open, open. So all those 2021 dates announced earlier this year to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their landmark album The Score will be getting pushed to 2022.
“Dates for our upcoming Fugees 25th Anniversary Tour are moving to early 2022 to ensure the best chance that all cities on the tour are fully open so we can perform for as many fans as possible,” reads the statement.
If you’re looking for a silver lining, more shows will be added to the tour. The statement continues, “With so much excitement around the reunion tour, we are also happy to announce that we will be adding more cities and dates!”
The group held a well-received teaser performance on September 23 in New York City at Pier 17. It must be mentioned that their set started hella late, though. But considering its been 15 years since the group hit the road, a few more months shouldn’t be that bad of a wait.

Dave Chappelle & Joe Rogan Appear At Sold-Out Show In New Orleans

Dave Chappelle is having a moment, but it isn’t the victory lap some might have expected considering that he’s just ended his run of specials for Netflix for the foreseeable future. After attracting the ire of the LGBTQ community for his jokes in past specials, most especially The Closer, the veteran comedian performed this week in New Orleans alongside another maligned funnyman in Joe Rogan.
As reported by NOLA.com, Chappelle and Rogan performed Thursday (October 28) at the Smoothie King Center and the Washington, D.C. native boasted of being on the “canceled” list while shattering attendance records. According to the outlet, Chappelle and Rogan’s spot date did indeed break records after selling the most tickets for a single event ever at the venue.
Like other appearances Chappelle has made over the years, cell phones were locked away and there were other measures to keep what was said inside the venue under wraps. The account of the performance from NOLA.com gave nods to all of the other comedians who performed, including Donnell Rawlins, a former cast member of Chappelle’s smash Comedy Central hit, Chappelle’s Show.
Rogan went on before Chappelle and leaned into his usual bits pushing the lines of free thought and decency as he’s known to do on his eponymously named and wildly popular podcast. Chappelle ended the show and didn’t shy away from all the buzz surrounding his name, even remarking that his wife gave him a firearm for protection but definitely took a dig at the trans community.
At this point, it can be assumed that Chappelle won’t be walking back anything he said, considering he’s already spoken publicly about how the entire fiasco sparked by The Closer has been dogging him for the past few weeks. In the special, Chappelle promised he was done with jokes at the expense of the LGBTQ community. Clearly, he’s still got more to say.
