me: idk man, kinda glad other countries don't do the established couple, flirty, shippy thing like thailand does. it can be neat and fun at times but sometimes it's weird and a bit questionable and it's restricting actors from doing other stuff. so, it's totally fine when other countries actors just do the one project and then go on their way to do something else, without being bound to each other in the next project to be a couple again. It is really not necessary for me...

i should have never looked at their photo shootings. the chemistry !! it would be such a waste if they don't do anything more together - the potential of it all !!

I think taikan yoho might actually be a perfect show. The show is very aware of its characters and the actors are ALSO very aware of their characters, the instrumentals tickle a rich sense of something i can't even describe but it makes me want to rewatch scenes just to experience it again. and the monologues, makes everything so clear, we know everything intimately like it's a part of us and it's very very oougghhhhh invoking. there's no unnecessary drama or additional setup for the plot to move forward The CHARACTERS move it forward. Like from the first ep we probably thought that the sunny day ban was the driving conflict but then bam it was resolved SO quickly in the 2nd ep and SO deliciously at that. It gives me cognitive dissonance with how good it keeps getting over and over with every new 24 mins (/new episode). the supporting characters are also SO good and make it all the more sublime and A++ but again without adding unnecessary tension to create stupid misunderstandings that tend to go unresolved far longer than they have to. many oh so many times, scripts tend to forget/forgo the extent of knowing and understanding characters tend to develop of e/o after spending enough time around them, knowing them. but then yaikan yoho has NEVER once done that and has only made it abundantly clear that BOTH yoh and segasaki KNOW how the other is (segasaki definitely more than yoh but then again that's what gives rise to the miscommunication cause yoh tends to forget/fail to see things while caught up in his own perceived insufficiencies which means it's always murky in his head no matter HOW clear everything is to the audience). after all that's how things happen irl too, you may know your close ones extensively and STILL have miscommunications and misunderstandings in the relationship - whatever be it's nature. and AND-

I’ve been doing a Zenkaiger rewatch while I take screenshots for my Stacey-themed side blog (@demonprincesuteishi) and sometimes there are shots of Mashiko Atsuki’s character, Zox Goldtsuiker,* that I can't resist grabbing as well. I know Mashiko has lots of fans on here, many of them MPW fans who aren't familiar with his role on Zenkaiger, so I thought I'd post some highlights.

The one above is from a favorite scene of mine, from the Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger vs. Kiramager vs. Sentaiger movie. It's Zox and Captain Marvelous from Gokaiger being pirates together, featuring a truly sublime finger-gun.

About to face a nemesis in the rain; wearing his Rudolph hat and big sparkly bow tie for Christmas; when a magical kotatsu turned him into a cat

When he was the King of Kashiwa Mochi; pissed off about a tennis game; when Stacey tried to get him to betray Kaito

Being a naughty schoolboy with his sister; eating a little sausage; the evil bizarro version of Zox who went around besmirching his name (you can tell he's evil because he has beautiful eyeliner wings)

Staring down an impostor; when he turned into a yankii stereotype with a mullet; doing his "huh"/"wow" face

In conclusion, if you haven't already, you should watch Zenkaiger. Mashiko Atsuki is excellent in it.

*Character names get romanized in a lot of different ways in tokusatsu because show creators make up names that don't match up with any real type of name in any language or culture. So Zox is sometimes romanized as Zocks, and his family name can be Goldtsuiker or Goldtweaker (I think I saw a third romanization somewhere as well).

I was looking up My Personal Weatherman on MyDramaList to make sure I spelled a name correctly in a tiktok...and the profile picture they have for Yoh's actor (Mashiko Atsuki)....

apparently sometimes this man is blonde and now I'm even more obsessed. So please enjoy the not-exhaustive results of a quick search on Pinterest, because....oh man....I like it.

What if the first curry Yoh made was a pork curry and that’s why Segasaki got disappointed when he asked for curry and Yoh made a seafood one because all he said was that he wanted curry for dinner? Like, he wants Yoh to make him the thing that made him fall in love with him and to him, that’s the most important curry. But Yoh doesn’t know that so he just makes curry out of whatever they have or whatever the store has and then gets (rightly) upset when Segasaki is disappointed that it’s not pork curry.

The baby is bad at communication dude!! You gotta spell it out for him, and then say it real slow, and then maybe use some pictures and diagrams to really drive the point home. Baby Yoh can and will dodge your brick of feelings because all he sees is a brick.

Maybe that's why Sonoi died in the Donbros/Zenkai crossover... Momoi ran off with Zox instead of eating oden with him and he died of a broken heart XD

It’s going to be so hard. so hard to create anything like mpw. there has truly been no show like it. nothing at all. like from episode one, it is pretty much entirely set in the comfort of their home. warm tones, dark lighting, dim and yellow like the ones you keep on at night when you don’t want it to be too bright. and there’s barely any other character except them. of course there’s man-san and mr. man-san but they’re in no way almost involved with their relationship. yoh and segasaki essentially have an established relationship. they’re already living together. have clear layout on who does the chores etc. the story is pretty much all inside their house. no one else is involved. cause yk segasaki comes home after work and there’s yoh. and they say ‘i’m home’, ‘you’re back’.
