atalanta, the human huntress (asteroid 36)
Tumblr media
Atalanta, left to die at birth due to her father's wish for a male heir, was raised by a bear for first few years of her life. Growing up in the wilderness, and eventually adopted by hunters, she became a skilled huntress. At a very young age, she vowed to Artemis to remain a virgin. And she did her best to keep that vow. Hylaeus and Rhoecus attempted to rape her, and she killed them instead. She frequently overpowered men in many competitive arenas and some say that she was among the Argonauts who sailed with Jason. In one myth in particular Atalanta wrestled Peleus and won during the funeral games of King Pelias. During the hunt for the Calydonian Boar, Atalanta drew first blood and the son of King Oeneus, Meleager, killed it. Meleager was enamored by Atalanta and offered her the skin - his uncles were offended by him and tried to take the skin from her. Meleager killed his own uncles to defend Atalanta's honor and to maintain his respectability. But somewhere in the fray, Meleager sustained an injury (often it is his mother that finds out that he murdered family, so she in turn burns his life source - a piece of wood), and he died. This was not Atalanta's only encounter with a male suitor - after reuniting with her father, he demanded that she be married (despite having been told that her marriage would result in catastrophe). Atalanta still wished to maintain her promise to Artemis though - she felt confident in her athleticism, so she stated that she would marry the first man who could beat her in a footrace. Many suitors failed until one asked Aphrodite for help - his name was either Hippomenes or Melanion (depends on which source you use). Either way this suitor was given three golden apples to drop as the two raced. The suitor dropped an apple whenever she was gaining on him - much like the goddess herself was once enchanted by the prospects of a golden apple, Atalanta was as well. She stopped to pick up each when she noticed they were dropped. When the young man won, the two married. But he forgot to thank the goddess Aphrodite, so she cursed the couple with uncontrollable lust. The two disrespectfully fornicated in a temple dedicated to Rhea. Rhea turned the couple into lions and forced them to pull her chariot. IN MY OPINION Atalanta in your chart can represent a) where you are resilient, b) your feminine strength, c) where you guard your honor physically, d) feminism, e) athleticism and/or f) where love and death are intertwined.

artemis, goddess of the hunt (asteroid 105)
Tumblr media
Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Previously stated in her twin’s myth, Hera was angered to hear of Zeus's infidelity with Leto and forbid Leto from having these illegitimate children on earth. So Leto had them in a tree - technically not touching the earth. Balancing on an olive tree branch she birthed Artemis. Hera heard this and sent her daughter, Eileithyia, to aid Leto in the birth of the other twin. Unfortunately, Eileithyia didn’t arrive on time - fortunately, Artemis learned how to aid in child-birthing and helped to deliver her brother, Apollo. Ever since this, each of these siblings protected their mother by whatever means necessary. Even if it came to bloodshed. Niobe said that she did more for Olympus than Leto by birthing more than two children. In response to this, Artemis and Apollo slaughter all her children. When Tityus gropped and tried to rape Leto, the twins killed him. To bear in mind, Artemis is one of the maiden goddesses of Olympus: recall that Diana (her Roman aspect) transformed Actaeon into a stag after seeing her naked then his dogs were set against him. Artemis's tale has the same spiel in which she goes to any lengths to protect her maidenhood. In some cases, like Actaeon (who’s story and myth are the same in Greek and Roman myth), she has a man killed, but in cases, like Siproites, she has the man transformed into a woman. Another extreme example, Agamemnon sacrificed one of Artemis's deer then boasted about how he is a better hunter than the goddess. This boasting held up the group from leaving for the Trojan War. To appease the goddess, Agamemnon then sacrificed his virginal daughter to Artemis - only then did Artemis let them leave for the war. Finally, Orion: in some versions he tries to rape her upon first encounter and Artemis kills him, but in others they fall in love with one another through shared interest in hunting. In the alternative, version Gaea sends the couple a scorpion to fight - either Artemis accidentally shoots Orion or Orion is stung with the scorpion's tail. An alternative to the alternative is her twin Apollo grows angry of the two’s connection and challenges Artemis to a hunt. Artemis askes what they are hunting and Apollo points to a distant creature in the lake - Artemis takes aim and fires and when she approaches her kill she sees it’s Orion. She then asks her father to place him in the heavens. IN MY OPINION Artemis in your chart can indicate a) how well you adapt or how good you are in a crisis, b) where you show loyalty to others, c) where you intend to stay pure, d) where in your life there is a lot of feminine energy, e) where you have a lot of spite, f) who you get along best with, and/or g) where your attempts in romance are diminished (if you have a lot of 6h synastry with a person and your artemis is in the 6h - you may find the relationship quickly fizzles out or they are removed from your life).

athena, goddess of war, craft, and reason (asteroid pallas (2) / athene (881))
“when talking about such a popular god or goddess i am going to for warn paraphrasing (especially when i have talked a lot about the god/goddess in past posts) - of course all these stories have more details and all these popular gods have stories within stories. i would love to share them all/in detail but i would need a book and a lot more time to write it. my attempt in writing these posts are to inform you on the high level story of the god’s or goddess’s life. that being said if any one of the events regaled in the post pique you interest - please let me know i don’t mind giving a more in-depth tale of any of the events mentioned.”
Tumblr media
Famously known as the goddess born from Zeus's head, Athena emerged fully grown from Zeus. There is a version of the myth that says Zeus swallowed the goddess Metis while she was pregnant (allegedly, Zeus impregnated but Gaea prophesied the first child would have his strength and the second would match it - threatened by the prospect he swallowed her). Zeus was complaining of migraines until Hephaestus got annoyed by his complaints and struck Zeus with an axe to the head. Athena then emerged from Zeus's head. In the versions of which she is a child, Athena had a friend named Pallas who, like Athena, loved both art and war. One day the two were practicing when tragically Athena accidentally killed her friend with a rather fatal blow. It is because of Athena's grief that she is sometimes referred to as "Pallas Athena" - which is meant to honor her lost friend. Athena like Artemis and Hestia is a virginal goddess of the Greek patron. Though, as mentioned in Hephaestus's post, Athena has hard some rather tumultuous encounters in the realm of sex. Athena, as we know from Poseidon's and Medusa's post, is the patron goddess of Athens after gifting Cecrops, on behalf of the people, the olive tree. IN MY OPINION Athene/Pallas in a chart can represent a) where you cause a headache for others (lol maybe it could be a brain tumor too), b) where you are skilled at fighting others, c) where you prefer to remain alone due to past traumas and disinterest in others, and/or d) where you use logic and wisdom to win over others.
