realized why all this time i've been so vividly disturbed by rufus' relationship with dimitri and why i've spent four years wondering why i can't place what the reason is

only for hopes to make that vividness reach maximum capacity like no i definitely expected everything they're saying rufus did to dimitri but why did i see all of it coming like why is this literally everything i feel like i already knew

only to realize today that it's bc this whole time i associated rufus to cedric

evil blond uncle tries to murder soft hearted and kind blond prince

i realize this whole time my mind was just looking at rufus and cedric interchangeably like -points- it's the same person

but i also realize even in my mind it's just bc i never let richard tales of graces i love you go and so rufus was on my red alert list from the moment dimitri declared he didn't get along with him

unfortunately for cedric he passed the threshold of a quick death bc dimitri was still sane when he killed rufus in hopes and wasn't the one who did in houses

sucks for him i guess (it's not that i don't have sympathy, it's that i blatantly appreciated and enjoyed it and that's what u get for attempted murder on richard, i mean.)

Of all of Leif’s friendships, Leif and Asbel is my favorite and the one I imagine is the closest. Asbel’s devotion to Leif from trying to find him again for years after they were separated to staying by his side through the entire war and everything about their reunion conversation; Leif admitting he left without Asbel as a last attempt to keep him safe when he didn’t expect to survive himself and Asbel’s anger because of how seriously he takes their oath to live and die together made their friendship stick with me despite the little screen time it had. Then Asbel’s Forging Bonds conversation in FEH went ahead and had Leif, who doesn’t believe he’s a legendary hero as a Legendary Hero, say he believes Asbel will be one. Their admiration and care for each other is really sweet and it feels like they’d go to the ends of the earth for each other. Their matching titles in their endings, Asbel the Sage and King Leif, the Sage Lord, is also peak friendship goals.

Asbel / アスベル and Hrest / フレスト

Asbel is a wind mage and apprentice to the leader of the Magi - Prince Ced - in Fire Emblem: Thracia 776. In Japanese, his name is written アスベル (rōmaji: asuberu), officially romanized as Asvel. The name is a corruption of アスブル (rōmaji: asuburu), Ásbrú: another name for the rainbow bridge Bifröst in Norse mythology. The bridge was said to connect the realm of man, Midgard, to that of the gods, Asgard. Aspects of Asbel's character may be indicative of this namesake: he is of common birth, yet came to be close allies to two descendants of the Twelve Crusaders, those blessed by the gods. Additionally, the Norse god Heimdallr, whose hall lies where Bifröst touches the sky, is sometimes called the father of humanity. In the poem Rígsþula, Heimdallr is instead depicted establishing humanity's social structures, from slave to noble. This may be why Asbel is the wielder of the Grafcalibur tome, a name invoking the German title of Graf.

Hrest (JP: フレスト; rōmaji: furesuto) is the name of the city Asbel once lived in, with his father serving as its bishop. The Japanese name is a shortening of ビフレスト (rōmaji: bifuresuto), the aforementioned Bifröst. It is said that during Ragnarök, the rainbow bridge would be destroyed by the jötnar of Muspell invading Asgard. This event seems to be represented in Fire Emblem with the Empire invading the city in search of Leif. Asbel's father, who sacrificed himself for the protection of the fleeing prince and Asbel, would then be a narrative proxy for Heimdallr, who serves as the guardian of Bifröst against the jötnar.
