Clonetober 2022: Day 20

Helloooo my 1st entry for this year's Clonetober - THUNDERSTORMS!!! ⛈️ This is mostly fluffy but with some spice. Prompt from @ladysongmaster

Captain Howzer x reader

The spatter of fat raindrops on your roof and vegetation rustling from the whipping winds outside cause you step toward your window to investigate. The storm is now here.

Watching the trees bend and sway in the powerful gusts makes you worry. Howzer was on his way. You look through the storm in front of your home. Nobody's there yet.

A brilliant flash of lightning blinds your wandering eyes. A loud clap of thunder shakes the air, the subsequent rumbling transfers easily from the ground to the floor beneath your feet. Will he make it in this storm? Turning to return to your couch, you take your comm device with you.

"Please be careful," you type out and send. Though, it is likely too late. He had left already to come to the edge of town to your small and humble home. Knowledge of the coming storm had caused to you both to abandon your earlier plans on going out tonight in favor of a simple night in - at your place. Howzer had agreed, and set off toward your home with hopes of arriving before the storm did. It rarely stormed like this on Ryloth. He had misjudged the timing.

You leave your couch to pour yourself a glass of ale to sip nervously while you wait. You had finished making dinner earlier and it is still sitting hot and ready on your stove. He'll be soaked when he arrives, you think. You set your glass down to rummage around in your room to retrieve a clean set of towels he can use. And some of his clothes he had left at your place from a previous visit.

There. You set the clothes and towels down near your entryway in anticipation for his arrival when a faint glow across the room catches your eye. Your comm device has received a message.

"I'm here," it reads. You look outside and Howzer is dismounting a speeder in his full armor, heavy rain and winds battering his body. In his hand he holds a backpack. A standard GAR issued pack.

"Oh- " you gasp, opening your door to let him in. The awning above your door does its job keeping the majority of the rain out as Howzer dashes toward you to make his way inside.

"M' sorry cyar'ika," Howzer mumbles as he lifts his helmet up over his head, his handsome face revealing itself as if it were the sun parting the storm clouds. "Don't be," you whisper, running your hand through his hair, brushing the strands that had fallen over onto his forehead. You meet his dark amber eyes in the dim light of your entryway. "I'm glad you made it," you say before you finish your greeting by pressing your lips against his.

Howzer leans into the kiss, brushing his lips against yours before opening to gently take your lower lip between his teeth. "mmm" you giggle, freeing your lip. "Wha-?" Howzer begins to whisper. But you use the opportunity to enter his mouth with your tongue, softy pressing against his, moving slowly in a pattern that matches his movements. Howzer takes your shoulders under his hands. His touch is warm. He had removed his gloves at some point. You curl your arms around his waist, fitting your fingers between the armorplates until you can feel the softness of his body beneath. The fabric of his blacks is wet with rain. You gently squeeze his fabric covered flesh as you grip onto him to pull him toward you. Water drips from his armor onto the floor of your entryway, making little sounds and cold puddles that grow until you can feel it with your toes.

"I brought you some of your favorite ale," Howzer mumbles against your lips, backing away for air. "Of course you did," you smile. "But we're gonna do something about all this," you add, motioning down to the puddles of rainwater on your floor.

You help Howzer remove his armor and then allow him to transition to the dry clothes you prepared for him.

Once your entryway is cleaned up, you and Howzer settle down on your couch with dinner and of course, two cold ales straight from Howzer's backpack.

"Ready for this ultra-cheesy holovid?" you ask Howzer, nudging his side. "Whatever you want, cyar'ika. I'm just here for the food," Howzer replies with that damn devilishly handsome smirk of his. That smirk that all the clones have. "Is that why you came all this way in the storm to see me? Because you were hungry?" you ask, teasingly.

"Nah,..because you're cute too," Howzer says before leaning in to plant a soft kiss on your forehead.

You and Howzer eventually finish dinner and the holovid there on your couch where Howzer then said he wanted to lie there and listen to the storm. So you did, and you quietly chatted the night away until you were almost asleep. Outside, you could hear the blustery winds and driving rain still. The noises from the outside filled your home with a quiet rhythm. One that made you glad you were safe inside the shelter of your home.

Underneath that blanket though, another set of sounds - the sound of Howzer's steady breath and the strong beat of his heart - made you glad that you were inside a very different kind of shelter. The kind that wasn't made of walls, a floor and a roof. You had a real relationship. The heart of a man who loved you. Someone who would always be there for you, no matter what. Someone who would literally drive through a storm just to spend a little time with you and remember to bring your favorite ale.

And that made you feel safe and loved and grateful and peaceful despite the raging storm outside. Enough to allow you to finally drift asleep wrapped up in that warm blanket and Howzer's arms.

Ambrosine "Amber" Smasher/"Lone She-Wolf"/"Spider Daemon"/"Crimson Smasher": [Artificially, 1/Appearance and mentality, 18]

Ambrosine, or "Amber", is the byproduct and artificial daughter of Adam Smasher and Dissonantia, with her mother using her Smasher's DNA and her own to create Amber in a artificial womb, all part of an Arasaka program started by Dissonantia and funded by Yorinobu Arasaka to create the ultimate supersoldier. It took nine months for Amber to grow into an adult, then was experimented and modified (willingly) with Cyberware. And yes, due to Dissonantia's DNA, Amber is a reality bender of sorts, but prefers to fight fairly. After she finishes her military training program, she is put to the test by subduing a Militech task force—she succeed, slaughtering them just like her father would. A living, walking weapon of mass destruction. Dissonantia, noticing this, decided to revive David Martinez and his old gang (literally placing them back together), and strike them with a deal: no conflicts from Arasaka, become immune to cyberpsychosis with a single pill (idea from @fanofrandomawesomeness), and they get to have a killing machine on their side. Becoming more socially open-minded as she hung out with David, Amber started to become attached to the Edgerunner, liking him more and more, and started to enjoy the company of Lucy and Rebecca.... especially Becca. She eventually started dating all of them, sharing a platonic relationship with all three. While she has a very little sex drive, Amber still feels love and attachment despite being numb most of the time and undisturbed by gore. Every single cyberwear and ability available at her discretion, with a highly modified black Night Terror supersuit, black supersuit chrome motorcycle mask, and black cyberlegs. Her favorite things in the world are watching the sunrise, her friends, her parents, and watching the blue and red butterflies that flutter around Arasaka Tower's inside gardens. TFMR Worldbuilding: How Cybertronian Armorplate Works

Warning: this post is written by someone who has an amoeba for brain.

Short version: Armorplates are not like clothes but more like skin that can be taken off

Long version:

In a way, it can be said that Cybertronians have both exoskeleton and endoskeleton. They have bone struts for holding things in place, and at the same time their frame is covered with hard metal shells. These shells are armorplates because well it's an armor???

Armorplates are divided into two types according to hardness, thickness, and flexibility.

Armorplates

Outer armorplate is hardest and thickest. This part has most pigments so it appears extra colorful compared to the rest of the body parts. Primary outer armor is the thickest and hardest, as this is the part that forms the shell of one's vehicle form. Secondary armor contributes more to the protection of root form. It is still pretty tough, but it's usually thinner and sometimes segmented to enable movements.

Inner armorplate focuses more on mobility, so it is thinner and more flexible than outer armorplate. Primary inner armor is usually covering upper arm and thighs. Secondary inner armor is protecting midsection, and it is almost always segmented because that part moves a lot.

Protoflesh

With no armorplates, a Cybertronian looks like a creepy ball joint doll made of nanite muscles. There are three types of protoflesh: Squishy bit, Stretchy bit, and Stiff bit.

Squishy bits are the softest, as they are mostly made of inactive nanites and very tiny metal bits. Together they form a structure that is very similar to muscle fibers found in human body. Squishy bits are also squishy because they are surrounding delicate inner structures like pistons and gears, so that they wouldn't dislocate easily from outside impact. Also, it is squishes into vehicle shape when Cyberteonian transforms to vehicle mode.

Squishy bits are also the most sensitive. In case of fingers, the squishy bit exists directly below the thin armorplate to sense things better.

Stretchy bits are like tendons made of really tough alien rubber, but not exactly matches 1:1 to human tendons. They exist to keep the squishy bits in place, especially during transformation. They stretch when a Cybertronian transforms into a vehicle, and they snap back to place when transformed back to root form.

Faceplates are considered as part of stretchy bit because well they stretch a lot to make various expressions, but they are more like inner secondary armorplate in terms of texture and toughness, as they are the only exposed protoflesh part.

Stiff bit is stiff. That's why it acts as secondary support structure (primary support structure is bone struts). They are like super hard alien plastic. They cover the places that needs extra extra protection, such as chest (right above spark chamber), front arm (this is where Cybertronians usually install their tools and guns, so the squishy and stretchy bits need to be protected from those), wherever the wheels are (in order to absorb the shock when driving), feet (in case of fliers, to absorb the shock of landing) and so on.

The stiff bit that protects processor is extra thick for obvious reasons.

So.... does that mean armorplates are essentially robot clothes?

No, they are their skin. They can take it off without pain, but why would they unless there's medical emergency?

Cybertronians come to the world with full set of armor. They take shower in their armor. They sleep in their armor. They even [EXPUNGED] in their armor. The armored form is their complete form. They don't need to cover themselves with fabrics or wear shoes like humans do, because they are already fully protected from birth. Though Mirage would like to say otherwise regarding footwear, because he'd been stepping on some unspeakably nasty stuff

Yes, "nude" is inappropriate in Cybertronian standards too, but not because it's 'sexy' or anything. In fact, nude is classified under 'mild gore' category in Cybertronian culture. Not wanting to see other person's exposed muscle fiber is a lot different from not wanting to see other person's "business down there".

Also, protoflesh is very vulnerable to outside hazards. A simple skin disease like rust can send a bot into operation chamber if it infects the entire chunk of ferrofluidal muscle. Stiff bits can be broken if a bot suffers direct impact to it. Everything will feel either too painfully hot or too painfully cold, because the protoflesh is not used to sensing things directly. A warm afternoon sunlight might feel like hyperthermal death ray.

Cybertronians, despite concerns from most doctors, often take off parts of their armor for regular maintenance. It is especially important to do so when they need new paint job.

Walking in on them in the middle of maintenance is far worse than walking in on someone changing their underwear, because Cybertronian processor is programmed to feel instant vulnerability when a piece of their armor is not on their frame.

Young Cybertronians often make mistakes of taking off part of their armorplate without thinking much. If the said armorplate is something tricky to put back on, they run to nearest reliable adult in panic. Unless they have broken something in the process, the adult will put the armorplate back in place and give them a lecture about how to properly take care of one's frame.
