Last Friday was the opening of my solo exhibition called “P.T.SS.D Generation 3.0″.

I was working on this project for almost 2 years, expressing my post trauma as a 3rd generation to the Holocaust, dealing with the qeustion of intergenerational trauma and the possibilty of breaking the chain of the Mental DNA.

The Exhibition will be open until December 10th and its in Haifa, Israel.

Like his plastic scrimshaw, Duke Riley’s Sailor’s Valentines reference historic maritime traditions, but are made from discarded plastics recovered from New York’s waterways. The octagonal shapes and geometric patterns echo keepsakes that nineteenth century sailors purchased for their loved ones in Barbados on their way home to North America after months at sea. 

Riley’s large-scale versions highlight both the volume of plastic waste now found in the world’s oceans as well as the dwindling number of seashells that such objects would have been made from in the past. Explore these and more of the ways that Riley refashions man-made waste to recall the waterways of New York City’s past in “DEATH TO THE LIVING, Long Live Trash.” #DukeRileyBkM

I'm discovering how mailable plastic is as a material as part of my discovery into texture and shape.

Under an iron I made sheets of plastic from 5 layers of plastic shopping bags and cut them into strips ready for use to weave.

The Sutra of Innumerable Meanings says that a seven-day-old son of the dragon can raise clouds and cause rain to fall.

Plastic has become marine debris that poses a threat to the environment. It has caused detrimental effects to the marine ecosystem. Humans throw plastics in the ocean, overtime breakdown into micro plastic, the fish eats it, the fisherman catches the fish, the fish goes to the wet market, the fishmonger sells the fish, and humans buy the fish and cook it for the family's livelihood. It's an infinite vicious cycle and a never-ending story. This artwork resonates well with a typical daily life of being a Singaporean. Queueing. Plastic bottle caps are seen queueing almost for everything. Queue for food, buying lottery tickets, boarding public transport, medical appointments, registration and other activities. Singaporeans' favourite pastime. Besides just about queueing, there is a very important message to convey. That is, making our everyday lifestyle more sustainably conscious in helping to save the planet. The Earth is in distress, please do not add on to the stress.
