What can you tell me about Bughead and why is it so popular despite being a plot they dropped seasons and seasons ago that was lavender marriage as heck?

Was never a fan of bughead and I believe a number of bugheaders blocked me a couple years ago after I said jughead "is a little bit fundamentally unlikeable" as a joke so I can't even explore their minds for science (healthy). I am feeling so incredibly disheartened with #Riverdale at the moment.. it has gone from being my favourite show and something that I use to look forward to watching each week to something that just makes me feel sad and incredibly nostalgic. Also, I know fictional characters are suppose to change, develop, etc but.. I just miss #Bughead so darn freaking much…

Betty and Jughead getting together and their friendship dynamic with Archie/Veronica/Jughead/Betty was the reason why I loved watching the show in the first place…

Additionally, unlike the comic books where two women constantly chasing after a ‘perfect’ red haired stallion who craves female attention; I really liked that Roberto took a different approach. In seasons 1-4 Betty got her own story and actually HAD her own identity outside of Archie Andrews.

Betty didn’t get the ‘love’ she had always fantasised about while growing up, but she did find something greater: the love she actually needed in an unlikely place. Also, Jughead Jones did not hold Betty up to unrealistic standards and he loved Betty for exactly who she was. She never had to pretend or censor herself with Jughead. Ever.

(i'm only on s6 so not sure what happens in s7 yet buuuuut)

the fact that Betty asked *Jughead* to go dig up the body under her mom's dining room is so indicative of all of the problems with Barchie.

literally the *episode* after Betty kills TBK and confesses how terrible she feels about what that says about her, Cheryl recommends killing Percival (a literal white supremacist demon) and Archie is like "that means we're evil, too." like! first of all, no, it literally doesn't. but second of all, Betty *just* told you she's worried that killing bad people under duress makes her an evil person.

the show itself explicitly addresses those issues so well, so many times (Cheryl's s4 'you're in love with the idea of Archie' speech; Betty and Agent Drake throughout s6). I'd be so sad if they named all of those fundamental incompatibilities only to have Betty end up with Archie. it feels like settling in such an uncomfortable way.

I'm forever a Bughead loyalist, but at this point I'm also, like... literally ANYONE but Archie.

Writers really could’ve had Jughead FINALLY know the full extent of Barchie’s love and her emotional cheating for their entire awful relationship but instead we get reused ugly bughead scenes
