Has a small hole in a piece of clothing: I sleep 😔

Plush comes in the mail with some (possibly) fixable inaccuracies (though some are not fixable, or at least not by me): ...WhEre... Is mY SeAm RiPper (idk why I focused on that of all things, outside I wasn't sure where I'd placed it and it being new.)

I knew ordering from Amazon and not looking too hard for another seller was a gamble going in though. Could have been worse.

I didn't really take in-progess shots but i do have some comparison pics.

As you can see, the pattern is off and the lower part of her crest is missing. Also funky body portions, barely a tail. She came in a, um, air vacuumed bag so I had to attempt to fluff her several times.

Can't really do too much with the embroidery, but thankfully her crest wasn't just not there!

But before that, something a bit simpler, her neck was a bit...long on side view for my liking. Despite my supplies I'm very much an amateur who rarely sews and hasn't actually practiced the type of stitch I was using: at first I did pretty good, but then somehow reversed it...well at least the fabric kind of hides it irl.

At the same time I also put in a few stitches to straighten the angle of her beak, though it's not really visible here.

The legs look different because originally I moved a leg due to her original portions but decided to do other stuff before doing the other--thankfully. Turns out after a few more fluffing sessions and modifications, the original position was best! ...I couldn't get it quite the place it was originally between being tired and the stitching blending, etc.

Next the crest:

...Yeah, there was a lot less in that little nub of disturbed fabric than I hoped, but at least it was there. Unlike elsewhere, the black had some kinda white layering on it that made it a bit difficult to sew, so there was some sticking out in the end after attempts to cover it. At least it added some structure.

Speaking of difficult to stitch, I attempted to do some embroidery around the eyes and crest since I don't have matching fabric...but the toughness, the short stitches, and the fuzzy fabric did me no favors.

Last major thing that did that could be seen already in the last pic: I fluffed her more and pinched in her back a bit to change her shape a bit.

Not sure yet if I'm going to try to find a way to fix up the embroidery attempt or make bigger changes, I don't have matching fuzzy fabric.

For now, I'm just happy with the chibi-ish look she's achieved and she can (sometimes) sit up on her own!

me when i have a drawing idea i want to work on today but I know I have cleaning that needs to get done so ... I somehow end up working on neither of those and instead spend an entire hour very carefully handwashing a childhood teddy bear

"Junho" - an exercise in willow charcoal done 4/22/2024 in about 20 minutes of Lee Junho from 2PM

#this month it will be a FULL decade since i started this blog. but we were just a few short days #of making it 10 years without my kpop obsession leaking onto this sideblog. i thought we'd make it #i thought we'd make it but we didn't #my drawing #junho #2024 #2pm #lee junho #charcoal #willow charcoal #drawing exercise #i drew something else today but i'm saving it to post later #and i only wrote one poem today and it was crap. so here's an exercise #i like how most of the drawings i post to this blog are just beautiful men #it's overrepresented in my portfolio admittedly #im not exactly 'proud' of this but i do like posting my exercises now and then bc they are fun to look at #i find examining my rushed/practiced drawings to be a lot more helpful in spotting my own strengths and weaknesses #than finished drawings i put a lot of dedication in #with this one i can say that the nose is off-center and the skull doesn't go all the way around on the left #as much as it should. but since it's clearly not meant to be a fully 'good' drawing it's more forgivable #if i had slaved at this for four hours it would kill me to stare at that inaccuracy #also: this is yet another example of the 'diana likes to draw faces far more than clothes' style of portrait #it's not that i dislike drawing clothes but they are so much less fascinating to me #i could stare at faces forever. whereas fabric doesn't inspire me to craft every detail just so.#and it shouldn't. because fabric is far more forgiving than human anatomy anyway

unfortunately the only art I can work on lately is small edits to existing art (making things look aged or damaged) or diary entries that I only show to two people (more like. one person, hi xena) I like have no motivation or like inspiration in regards to doing actual art and it sucks sm

It's interesting to stroll around Fanlore reading discussions that took place in 2007 talking about the fractured nature of fandom on LJ and people interacting without having enough context (as in commenting on a post they did not read by a user they do not know) when you're living in 2023 and people distribute likes without reading anything or commenting; when there's supposedly "drama" of unknown origins happening in more than one website at the same time because there's no real "home base" for fandom activity anymore; and we're all carrying on with our lives reblogging things without even looking at previous notes and reactions to that same post even if out of simple curiosity...

#what gets me is the lack of discussion. i don't expect anyone to approach things in a more ~intellectual manner no #but i guess i expect a little more than what i see. i'd *like* to see a little more. more than just personal unfounded opinion #idk i have the distinct feeling that we're all screaming into the void only louder and louder and louder #(you will never convince me that twitter is a good place for discussion because it just isn't. it wasn't made for that #it doesn't support it. its very quick structure is part of why so many people have long recognised it as toxic social media)#(it's talking over one another in fragments. if you agree on there all is peachy but if you don't then lol good luck)#anyway. again. i do know tumblr isn't exactly proper for any of this either; the dashboard isn't designed for it #but it's not like i can convince anyone to switch to a slower and more text/reflection-based platform either now can i #i think about migrating every day but then i'd REALLY be screaming into the void #silly blabbering #i'm allowing myself to post this on this blog because it isn't strictly WN related but also it is. i hate twitter fandom lol #(also if you're wondering yes i did read that one for the bakhtin. in this house we love and support bakhtinian studies)#(just in case my last little essay on wn didn't clue you in regarding that lol)#ALSO i love the fact that the post (the actual post. if you click the link and follow through to the original post. which you should)#links to another post that goes to another post (i love these link black holes) where the author voices things i feel too lol #about crafting extensive essays and the expectation regarding their response #i sometimes think that LJ fandom is what made me choose my degree #why am i seeing myself through someone else's words written in 2006 ksjdfhksdjjhksdgjsd #and yeah yeah we should respond to other people too -- but how when no one is writing the sort of thing you want to/can reply to?#i'm not interested in the colour of beatrice's knickers (not that anyone has talked of that... afaik... but you get what i mean)

#been reevaluating my relationship with social media if you couldn’t tell #and now I’m slowly getting into the habit of posting even if it means only two people will engage with it #like for better or worse this is me #what i enjoy is not cringe or embarrassing #and my decision to share it with others is ok and is not something to be ashamed of #which is another thing I’m trying to cope with more - shame!#i like writing and reading fanfiction and that’s ok #it’s valid and is a great way to express myself and better my craft #I’m not too old to be engaging in it and the relationships I’ve cultivated are worthwhile #now that’s what i call blogging

Kin Crafts for Jack Noir from Homestuck (low skill level)

1) the queens ring (⭐️): check this out. you dont even have to steal a ring when you can make one yourself. unfortunately no tutorial for this one, but its pretty easy: just get a cheap band (2-5 dollars) and some craft pearls, and glue those suckers on! [X]

2) Mini felt scottie dog (⭐️⭐️): this little guy is as simple as sewing gets. he’s made to be a brooch or pin, but you could also turn him into a keychain or a magnet! if you want to try one a bit harder, heres a full-size pattern. [X]

3) Cardboard Chess board (⭐️⭐️): with this, you control the whole battlefield. wipe out the prospit army, make your underlings dress in silly costumes, rip the board in half... anything goes. for a more complicated version, check this one out! [X]

4) Derse flag (⭐️): show your lunar pride with your own dersite banner! heres a guide to banner making in general. to make it derse, just cut out a piece of paper as a painting template for each different color. [X]

5) Checkerboard cookies (⭐️⭐️): take ultimate dominion over the battlefield by EATING IT. also tasty :) these recipes show you how to make it from scratch, but storebought mix should work too. also, heres an ice cream cake one! [X]

i mean it by the way . i ahve a photographic memory i never forget faces . there was someone who, when i worked at pblx, liked how i made her sandwches but she tried to get me in trouble one day because she was trying to get a free one (she’d done this to two other coworkers) and so after that i literally never made her sandwich again . she sent someone in one time, with her exact order, and i didnt fall for it and said oh thats right i had to go do the truck . heres my coworker . i know im crazy i DONT care i am stubborn as a fucking MULE

there was a guitar-guy downtown today, doing covers of early 2000s songs. I got to wondering, are all guitar-guys lonely? do they ever do social things with their covers of pop songs? is their only stable career option to be in a mega-church worship band? have they ever had their guitar dreams (to impress other men) come true? were they mad when their date didn't want to fuck them after they sang an o.k. cover of Yellow by Coldplay? are they ok? just because you can strum doesn't mean you should

#guitar guy #i've been in too many otherwise nice moments that have been ruined by a guitar guy thinking he's the chosen one #they need to stop #the only generally ok social music things are 1. karoke 2. singing around a piano showtunes or christmas songs 3. background music #background music as in singing or playing softly not at anyone in particular but within earshot and the music is pretty and nice #like when someone sings to themself while doing crafts or chores #or if they're practicing their instrument or singing in another room and you can hear it a little #or you hired them to play in the background at a wedding or a special dinner or garden party #definition of 'guitar-guy': a dude that strums the plain chords without much articulation or dynamics and sings in a similar fashion #the sound is uninteresting and the volume of the two is rarely well-balanced #they are highly likely to pick up a guitar at a party and get to singing and playing without asking #they think that every woman they go out with will Fall Madly In Love with them when they hear their cover of an Oasis song #my best guess is the social skills needed to seek out solid notes from people about your sound and then do something with that #that those same skills - if you had them - would stop you from imposing your music on everyone in the first place #and your music would sound good too #my blog
