My babies !!!
14 seasons later and I get a happy ending for Callen. We know his name, and he finds love with Anna.
I'm saddened to see one of my favourite shows end. I'm so thankful though that the writers did it right!

Kilbride is now offering Callen a drink. Because he has no reason to be cranky. And Callen's not being defensive.
And now Kilbride is offering an ear. Night and day, this dude. "I respect your privacy." "This is your story." It IS his story, and he deserves to know it, dammit.
We've waited so many seasons for Callen to fully question the shit Hetty did, and now that he is, Kilbride is defending it. I mean, you're trying to justify child torture with the fact that Callen helps people? As if he needed to be tortured to do it? He was abandoned then abused then abused some more while people just claimed they were looking out for him and doing what was best, and any issues he had HE deserved it or those are just his issues. "I respect her, and she did it for the country." "We all make mistakes."
Hello, my name is Z, and I want to write a novel on the way the show puts Callen through gaslighting and emotional and traumatic invalidation but totally thinks it's doing the right thing.
EVERYONE SHUT UP CHRIS O'DONNELL IS LOOKING SAD AND BEAUTIFUL RIGHT NOW.
Callen questioning if he's a dark, ugly thing, and a mistake. I think that, along with the conversation with Anna earlier this season, that was one of the most honest, and vulnerable, things he's actually said. Because you know he was treated like a mistake and a burden in so many homes. It's why he needed to find his family and what happened because if they just up and abandoned him for no good reason then all the people who hurt him were right. And later when Hetty tells him he was so difficult and it made it SO hard to put him in a good home, he didn't push back.  It's the same reason why he almost broke down not when his dad told him his real name, but when his dad told him he was a good man. It was two-fold: it meant his dad cared enough about him to keep tabs on him AND he thought he was a good person.
I don't disagree with the past being a place to learn from and not live in. Kilbride is right. But this is not one of those things you LEARN from. I think if they wanted him to give Callen some actual guidance, they would've had a much, much different dialogue. Because all of them, Callen included, have plenty of things you can actually call them out on. But they only ever seem to get called out when they're actually in the right or acting understandably. UGH. THIS SHOW.  It has simultaneously done a good job at showing how people react to trauma and are shaped by things, including the fact that Callen is more vulnerable and susceptible to being taken advantage of than even he realizes because of the front he puts on, but then turning around completely invalidating all of that as just pettiness or bitterness essentially. UGH. THIS SHOW.

Love is in the air for the 13th season finale of NCIS: Los Angeles, and EW has an exclusive look.
In "Come Together," the team's on the hunt for a heavily armed crew that robbed an L.A. casino. But that doesn't stop G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) from taking the time to pop the question to girlfriend Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly).
Check out the exclusive pics:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The casually dressed couple could be any lovebirds on the beach in these photos, but Callanna have endured ups and downs for years. They first met when Callen rescued Anna from a kidnapping in season 6, and their time together included an undercover mission that required them to pose as a couple in season 7 and in an ATF investigation in season 9 that ended with Anna sentenced to seven years in prison.
But it takes more than four heavily fortified walls to keep Arkady's daughter contained. She escaped from prison to try to save Callen's father, then traveled to Cuba, where she remained to avoid being sent back to lock-up.
Anna has been absent for much of the current season, leaving Callen to explore his newly discovered history of childhood spy training — a history he shares with the Russian-educated Anna. His quest for information has been hampered by the absence of Hetty (Linda Hunt), who oversaw the orphan training program.
In addition to the romantic advancements for the happy couple, Sunday's season finale will feature some positive adoption news for Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen).

From ericolsenfans on IG...text on the new TV Guide article about NCIS LA
“Save Hetty! In the military drama's Season 14 opener, intel has at last confirmed the location of the former boss lady (Linda Hunt): Syria. "It starts off very bad for her, but eventually [the info provides] a little bit of hope," executive producer R. Scott Gemmill says. The news fires up Special Agent G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell) to go rescue his imperiled surrogate mother, despite their unresolved issues about his childhood spy training. Admiral Kilbride (Gerald McRaney) nixes the plan, though: He needs all hands on deck after terrorists set off an explosion at a facility that manufactures Navy drones. That's just the first big boom. Arsonists light up one episode, and those gruesome serial killers that stitch bodies together from Season 9's"The Monster" make their return. The team also helps one of their own, Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), when son Aiden (Tye White) is wrongly accused of pilot error and may lose his military career. Different kid-related problems face married agents Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) now that they've adopted teen Rosa (Natalia del Riego). "They're trying to be cool but are overprotective," says Gemmill. To the rescue: Deeks' mom, zinger slinger Roberta (Pamela Reed). Meanwhile, Fatima Namazi (Medalion Rahimi) improves fellow special agent Devin Roundtree's (Caleb Castille) bad online dating profile and Callen's skills at planning his big day with fiancée Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly). If only Hetty were there in person! Notes Gemmill: "Her absence affects Callen as he works toward having his wedding, realizing he doesn't really want to go through with that without her." -Kate Hahn” #ericcolsen #ericchristianolsen #ncisla #ncislosangeles #ncislafamily #ncislafamilia #danielaruah #kensiblye #densi #ncis #chrisodonnell #gcallen #barpaly #annakolcheck #robertadeeks #pamelareed #nataliadelriego #rosareyes #llcoolj #samhanna @barpaly @chrisodonnell @llcoolj @tyewhite @nataliadelriego @danielaruah @ericcolsen

The Wonder (2022)
Set in The Irish Midlands in 1862, the story follows a young girl who stops eating but remains miraculously alive and well. English nurse Lib Wright is brought to a tiny village to observe eleven-year old Anna O'Donnell.

Warning: Review may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.
JayBell: I have mixed feelings about this movie. The concept itself is rather promising. The tone is appropriately creepy and foreboding. The acting is nothing to complain about (my love for Florence Pugh continues).
Plus, the characters themselves get a good amount of depth. Florence Pugh's character is definitely strong-willed and determined and she has a beautiful mix of logical intelligence and empathy. I also like that newspaper dude isn't motivated only by his feelings for the new hot girl in town, but a deeper traumatizing past.
I really love a mystery in a movie. It's fun to guess along and try to figure the case out alongside the characters. The mystery is drawn out as long as it can in the movie, which I think influences the pacing and the timing of the big "reveal" and the conclusion. To me, the pacing felt a little off as a result. Furthermore, since the movie wants to keep the mystery as long as possible, the motivations of key characters like the mother don't get as much clarity.
After the big reveal, I still felt a bit confused as to who held certain beliefs and why the mother and daughter made certain decisions. Some of which I can assume, but ultimately, I would have liked to understand the mother's true feelings about her daughter, her son, and so on. I think this greater insight into their characters would shape how I feel about the conclusion.
Also, kind of confused at what the nun added to the movie. I wish she had more of an impact. And the council of men are ANNOYING for sure, but aren't they wondering why there are no bones or anything leftover from the fire?
But in the end, I'm glad for the "happy" ending, even though I'm not sure it may be the healthiest ending. I suppose mentally unhealthy is better than dead?

Anzie: I knew this movie was going to be crazy but in a “heheh this is really crazy,” way. And it totally was, bc remembering it I feel like I’m having a fever dream. Don’t get me wrong it was great- Florence Pugh could be in literally any genre, any time period, and she kills it. Like Florence Pugh is from 2024? Uhhh have you seen her in a 1800s dress?? Bc she’s totally from the 1800s. Anyway. The premise is interesting and trying to guess how the girl wasn’t eating/ was eating and all that- I do think it was such a great but odd choice to contrast that with how many times you see Florence Pugh’s character eat.
I hated the stoopid council of men and I will be speaking no more on them.
Towards the end I was getting so over the girl. Like stop and eat. Pllllsss. Especially when her tooth came out I got a knot in my stomach. And I feeellll bad for that bc of why she didn’t eat. And it was sick and twisted. And I get the whole identity and the stories we tell ourselves deal the movie is trying to convey. But part of it felt slow after everything we had seen - and weird bc although I did pick up on part of the reasoning regarding the brother (especially seeing the weird demon eyes painted over his painting even tho that’s a totallllly normal thing people used to do) I never got a bad vibe from her mother or any animosity towards the girl?? Too bc she was feeding her the “manna” which barfff. Also if you’re that sick and twisted in your logic and reasoning how can you just switch it off if people observing your child are there 24/7? But what do I know- surely not how to victim blame my 11 year old daughter into starving to “save” her dead perverted brother’s “soul,” if he had one.
Finallly- the ending is so not what I expected but I think it’s as close as a happy ending this movie could have. I think there are ethical situations since Anna became Nan?? And like if she could process her trauma without a new dissociated identity would she choose to leave her family to go be the nurse and reporter’s kid?? (Probs considering what happened??) And I really wanna know if Nan was the nurse’s baby’s name or did Anna just like it. Like is she replacing her?? Anyway I choose to ignore it and just accept the weirdness of them becoming a family. (Totally called the reporter and the nurse marrying even if it’s fake) It’s nice. 😅
I did like the narrative at the end and how there are so many children that are affected by issues like starvation or abuse every day that should be addressed rather than passively observed- like how the counsel of men did and wanted Lib to do too. I think using the actor that worked in the house- who was really only just there- and only really told us little tidbits like how Will’s family starved and locked themselves away while he was gone- to call back to the little flipping bird toy was also really great, making the audience think about if the Anna/Nan situation is freedom or a cage, and that like Will said - it depends on how you view it.
* I hate how easy it was to say when Anna died she was in such shock her dress caught the flame and that all the council has to say is she isn’t getting paid.
* I also hate that my brain made me dream of the reporter guy as a vampire that was in control of evil flying monkeys.
Rating: 7/10 Cats 🐈

Finally watched "Joy Ride" (and "Oppenheimer")
Next month I should have a couple more of this year's Oscar nominees for my mini reviews. Until then:
The Three Musketeers (1993): I don't know if this was the best version, but it had a ton of 90s stars! Chris O'Donnell, Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Rebecca De Mornay, Oliver Platt...and Tim freaking Curry as the bad guy! How can you go wrong?
Father Stu: I tried to watch, but I just couldn't get interested, and not just because Mel Gibson was in it.
Alice, Darling: Anna Kendrick comes to terms with the fact that her boyfriend is abusive. A haunting look at psychologically toxic relationships.
John Wick Chapter 4: I liked these movies better when it was about Keanu Reeves avenging his dog. Now it's just gotten a bit convoluted.
Joy Ride: This was HILARIOUS! I don't care if it didn't do well at the box office, we need a sequel!
Napoleon: I learned more about Napoleon from The Powerpuff Girls in two minutes than I did from Ridley Scott in this boring three-hour piece of crap.
Oppenheimer: While it's not my cup of tea, it certainly was intense and the acting was great. I'm happy that RDJ, Cillian Murphy, and Christopher Nolan got their Oscars.
Damsel: I don't care if everyone else thought it was dumb, I enjoyed it! And not just because it was how Game of Thrones SHOULD have ended.
Spaceman: Adam Sandler gets consoled by a giant space spider (Paul Dano). Actually drearier than it sounds, but it still had some great moments and the visual was dazzling.
Ricky Stanicky: Thanks, I hate it. Although I did get a cheap laugh out of John Cena's karaoke scenes.
