story time i have been using ao3 since like 2016 or something and i did not know that bookmarks were like? private? or public or....well i just did not think about them at all nor did i read all the boxes when making a bookmark because for a person who reads a lot i can't apparently read. so i didn't really realize yall could see my bookmarks until like last year. or that people go to authors they like and then check their public bookmarks and fic reccs.

ANYWAY. i have 512 public bookmarks and my task tonight is to go make like 400 of those private so yall can only see the ones i want yall to see.

#i will not be deleting any of them. unless they are exceptionally cringe or no longer align with beliefs or whatever #but i generally speaking believe in allowing my cringe phases to survive to look back on later #....so i WILL be keeping various mcu and voltron and whatever public but only if i remember it #dont worry i won't be depriving any authors of nice bookmark comments to reflect back on #i also paid zero attention to the comment box too #the only fics that i ever did anything extra to are ones i tagged fave and those i will keep public anyway

there was a post going around about jerks people adding obnoxious comments and tags on their PUBLIC bookmarks of fic, ie, they would be visible for the author if they clicked on the BOOKMARKS of their own fic that are available for them to see.

that made me curious about whether people tagged or left notes on any of their bookmarks of my fic... of course I had to go check (do I like to get hurt??)

anyway, I'm happy to report I have no nasty public bookmarks, and instead found some lovely ones!

Hungry hearts:

Prime, and I mean PRIME Han/Leia. This is captures the exact dynamic that got me into Star Wars in the first place

Courting Princess Leia:

This is canon, I don't even care. COPL who??? This is how it should have gone.

Han and Leia, starting a life after the war, excellent worldbuilding regarding setting and customs. This is a lovely, intimate piece about settling into a place where one fits.

This might just be the weirdest and best post-DH Romione fic I've read. It's so, so confusing and the beauty of unreliable narrators is stretched as far as it can go. Wow. Just, wow.

probably not going to be any updates until I work through the funk

Absolutely sandblasted in the face at 2:30 in the morning by the memory of a fic I read a full fuckin decade ago on ffnet and *I can’t remember the name*

#fuck who knows if it even still exist #it might be in a very very old browser bookmark somewhere I should check #FUCK dude #it was this. httyd canon divergent thing #OH WAIT I WAS ABOUT TO SAY I CAN’T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHEN IT DIVERGED BUT I CAN ACTUALLY #it’s when hiccup is about to Fuckin Leave and gets interrupted by astrid #and then romantic flight and discovering the red death happens #but this fic was hey what if astrid didn’t follow him and hiccup did in fact Fuckin Leave #it was SO GOOD #epic length longfic and goddamn incredible #not the faintest fucking idea what the title was #I know I followed the author on tumblr back in the day but I can’t remember their name either #and I have zero idea if they’re still here

what's your favorite ship and why? Not limited to any particular fandom

hi! thank you for the ask :)

at any given point in time I usually have a few different favourite ships at once, so I'll give you the most relevant ones from right now:

Beta/Milu: because they're baby and cute and deserve happiness, and Milu seems like the best match for Beta. and I really want Beta to be happy and enjoy life after everything she's been through. plus Beta could definitely help Milu with some science related to helping the Utaru, I'm sure.

Ikrie/Yarra: because I thought about it for two seconds once, and mentioned it to @tjerra14 and was met with nothing but support, so now there's two story ideas floating around.

with this one I'll explain more thoroughly (bc I talked about Beta/Milu a little more recently). thing is.. there's no way in hell Ikrie would have stayed in The Cut considering even Aratak made the journey. so I hc her being at the final battle in HZD and then moving West with Talanah and Milu, and possibly making her way across the mountain bc she's Ikrie and mountains are where she grew up, so the invisible plot barrier would not keep her out of Tenakth territory if she thought Aloy might have come through.

tjerra and I hc her then making her journey towards Scalding Spear and stumbling upon Meat in the clasps of a certain group of Rebel Bandits and saving Meat, but not getting away unscathed, and Yarra then being alerted to her presence. ANYWAY all that to give the setup. (the other story idea involved a lot more birds and puns)

the reason I think they would be well matched is that Yarra is just as dedicated to her people's ways as Mailen was, which is sth Ikrie could certainly understand, but we see later on that she is also willing to change and admit when her ways may cause more harm than good, so: matched in ferocity, bonding over Yarra's pet companion and just overall a fun dynamic imho. I JUST THINK THEY'RE NEAT

Nanno/Yuri: would be my third fave atm, mostly bc the whole enemies to lovers dynamic can be fun, especially where the supernatural is involved. and I love a good you kill me I kill you back dynamic every now and then. so there's that

#Beta + Milu + Ikrie + Yarra are from Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West and Nanno + Yuri are from Girl From Nowhere #I hope this is acceptable. I have more ships I care for but I didn't want the list to be endless #suffice to say I also enjoy the occasional Ava/Beatrice and Aloy/Ikrie. love to love Aloy/Talanah #I multiship always.#if we're talking old faves I'd have to go with Bering and Wells as well as Cara/Kahlan and obviously the ones I've written fic for #also Root and Shaw. Seven of Nine/Janeway. Robin/Nancy. Wednesday/Enid. just.. so many.#but yeah. I have my ao3 bookmarks (FIC REC) linked on tumblr for a reason. just.. don't judge me too hard. I have an eclectic taste
