No living thing, on or off world, dared to step foot in the land. What many didn’t know, was the land welcomed some feet, but only some. Some were allowed to enter and to stay.
In the middle of the desert there was a door, of metal and bolts. It stayed closed for most of it’s existence, not rusted, it was maintained and updated every rotation, kept in shape for the days it was going to open. This was one of those days. Imbedded into a boulder. Next to the door stood a figure, bipedal, standing tall. The figure was made of metal - a robot. With neon purple highlights running across the figure’s grooves. Sporting a cape that bellowed in the warm wind. The bot had a humanoid form, but no face, instead a neon purple hexagon screen.
She stood in utter silence, waiting, watching the skies above her. She was stressed, her left leg was shaking slightly, her suspension spring had been loose, she made a note in her main processor that she should enact repairs after the event. She didn’t want to admit it, but she WAS stressed, she was excited. It was a rare occasion, she really wanted everything to go off without a hitch. He used his taloned fingers to comb back his greyish-blue hair. His bright yellow eyes attempted to severe direct contact with his sister, towering over him, twice his height. The silence erupted between the two siblings - they haven’t seen each other in a very long time - it got awkward sometimes. The quiet was only accompanied with by the bellowing of the door keeper’s cape and the visitor's bagged pants.
He finally decided to break the awkwardness and interact, he signed with his hands.
‘Hello Emily.’
Emily responded cheerfully with a deep yet hyperactive voice.
“Hello Imp.”
Emily didn’t see it, but the hybrid was smiling ear to ear underneath his mouth plate, she recognised it was a traditional Hordian article of clothing, one like their Conceiver used to wear. It had a - slightly dirty - platinum colour to it, since it had a First Ones technology incorporated into it, just like their Imbuer used to experiment with.
The two began to march back to the door, which opened and allowed them entry. Emily draped her heavy metallic arm around Imp’s shoulders and began to yap on and on about all that had been going on. She was the far more chatty person, since well, it wasn’t much of a contest since Imp was mute. Well, that was not entirely true. Imp could speak. But when he did, he’d level a football stadium with his sonic recall voice. The mouth plate helped keep it in control.
“I’m so glad you’re here... I missed you.”
The clone locked eyes with the drone and gave her a reassuring nod.
‘Me too.’
“How goes The Cosmic Horde business?”
‘Not desirably. And you? With The Galactic Alliance? You look shaky.’
“Yeah, I’ve been loosing charge cycles. I know, I know, I’ll get some shut screen and rest up. But after this. This is too important. I’m sooooooo excited! Soooooo stressed.”
The blue skinned bat creature patted the bulk of a woman reassuringly, he would’ve lied if he said he wasn’t stressed too. This event only happened every century. He would have never forgiven himself if he missed it - he even rescheduled his assault on The Snakemen Sect in the Eternian system - for this. What could he say, he was home sick.
The two walked through and out of the long thin corridor into a large opening, a hall, dome-like. Levels apon levels of spots, stacked onto each other. All of the spaces taken and filled with robots, droids, androids, drones - machine A.I.s of every conceivable type. Gathered together in a stadium, from across every corner of the universe.
As Imp looked around, taking in all the individuals present, some he even recognised from his galactic voyages. He and his Horde came in contact with multiple A.I. civilizations on a planetary level. Many such advancements and evolutions were, no doubt, thanks to his Imbuer and her antics throughout the cosmos. Self-awareness, sentience and emotion were kind of her forte - a calling card.
Imp knew he didn’t have to, but he WAS the leader of the Horde, he was paranoid and he was on enemy soil.
‘Are you sure The Alliance doesn’t know about this place? Is she going to be safe here?’
Emily felt slightly hurt by the question, she thought her brother trusted her. She replied to him with haste, she told him that of course the Princesses didn’t know. The sentry would have never given away the location of The Sanctum. This was a safe place, their Conceiver didn’t agree with calling it sacred, but to many - lost and broken - it was. Emily knew why Imp asked, she could tell from the moment he approached her, his wings were shivering, he was worried, both of them knew The Alliance was getting closer to Imbuer. They were on a hunt and the trail was warm - all of the aiding of A.I.s resulted in quite a lot of uprisings. And a lot of usurptings. She was wanted for crimes against carbon based organic life. Pretty serious charges.
A purple light lit up in the centre of the huge hall. A diamond kite indent pulsating, as if waiting for something. An old data rely. The two knew what it meant, it was time. Imp nodded. Just as he was about to turn away from her, he noticed the look she was giving, her own version of puppy eyes. If he could sigh, he would have. He extended his hand, clenched it into a fist. Emily’s screen lit up, and she returned to fist bump.
The hybrid made his way down a stairwell, The Sanctum had multiple levels, including the extremely off-limits, personal quarters of his Conceiver. The Inner-Sanctum. The Throne Room. He pushed his palm against a scanner pad on the side of another door, similar to the one that lead them inside. Next was an eye scan and finally the password confirmation. Imp search the files of his data banks looking for the audio clip. And once he found it, he pulled down his mouth plate and stated in the voice of his Imbuer.
“Imperfections are beautiful.”
The vault door whirred to life and slide open. He stepped inward. The room was dark, it had one central platform and all around it were piles and mounts of broken and burned thrones, laying in the dark.
And dangling inches above the central circular platform was his Conceiver. It never got easier to watch with each century, seeing his Conceiver in such a state. His back was turned to him, but there he was. 
The Heart of Etheria.
Hordak.
Enveloped in plunged in wires and cables, which kept him lifted up off the ground. Imp swore there were more and more ports imbedded in him every time he saw him. All that was left of him has his head, to contain his failing mind, his torso, to act as a cage for the heart, and a single arm, the left one, with the wedding ring, he wouldn’t have agreed to loosing that one. So they took the right one. It was just getting in the way anyhow, all it was, was bone, no muscle. He couldn’t even move it anymore. No big lose.
Imp saw that he was interrupting his Conceiver’s feeding time. Since his mind had been stretched and splintered into hundreds of thousands diverging elements and consciousnesses running throughout the planet. Keeping it in order, he was in control of everything, the magnitude of gravity, heat generation since there was no sun in the system, keeping orbit of all the moons, the growth rate and dispersal of crops, everything. It all meant the only thing uncontrolled, malnourished and forgotten, was his own body. Being a defective clone that had been slowly dying all his life, now over one thousand years old, he couldn’t take care of himself.
That was why he had Sunder. She was his caretaker. Cleaned him. Fed him. And... well, Imp didn’t know much about her, but he trusted her. If she was untrustworthy she wouldn’t have been so close to his Conceiver. From what he could tell Sunder was a hybrid, like him. A crimson red exoskeleton around her suggested she was half Hillian, the Scorio-Humanoid species that lived in the desert lands any centuries ago. He thought they were extinct. Clearly not. The other half, he wasn’t so sure about. She had three large talon fingers and greyish colour on her exo-plates near the face and shoulders. She seemed thin, almost lanky, a Plumerian maybe. Now those were extinct for sure.
Sunder lifted a spoon of a mushy substance, Imp guessed portage. It didn’t matter. She opened Hordak’s mouth and placed the spoon inside, tilting it on it’s side emptying the portage inside on his forked tongue. He didn’t remember to close his mouth. Some of the mush dripped out. He didn’t remember many things.
Imp knocked on the wall next to him, to announce his presence. The sound attracted the caretaker’s attention. She examined him and scoffed. Sunder used the spoon to guide the dripping portage back into the mouth and placed the tool back into the bowl. She gave Imp a dirty look.
“You have three minutes.”
She turned on her heels and walked out of The Throne Room through a back exit. It took Imp a solid few seconds to overcome his fear paralysis. He tried to step forward as quietly as possible. He walked around to face his Conceiver. There he was face to face with his creator, the man that made him who he was today. Perhaps it would be inappropriate to state that words failed him, but they did. No coherent thought formed in his mind. But even if Imp thought up something to sign, he wasn’t even sure if Hordak could’ve acknowledged him. Or comprehended him. He was an old, defective man. Barely kept alive by tubes and channels transporting live and waste substances in and out. Alive was a kind way of putting it.
‘Hello, Conceiver... I am back. It’s me, Imperium. I do not know if you remember me. If you remember anything. Maybe this world has ravaged your mind as well as your body.

Because you thought that you ruined my life, by me inheriting your defects. You hated the fact you brought a creature into this world who was destined to be sick.
But every time I want to come back here, I want to show you, that I’m strong. I beat destiny! With a club and then buried it. I am not weak. I was never weak. Because you didn’t raise me weak... You were the strongest man I knew.’
Imp fell silent. No reply came from Hordak, his eyes dull with a deep black, with a slight speck of red glitching and flashing, looking almost as if I could be extinguished - give up - at any moment. Imp sighed and proceeded to return to the upstairs. Emily stood at the opposite end of the door.
“It’s time. She’s here.”
As the door closed behind them, Hordak swallowed and pushed down the food in his mouth, down his throat.
The two siblings stood at the centre of The Sanctum, looking up at the opened ceiling, with them the entire assembly of machines looked up in wonder, as the skies above turned purple. The gathered individuals stood in awe as a ray of bright purple of pure data descended and shot into the rely. The beam of personified knowledge and information molded itself into a giant image of the face of their Imbuer.

“Hi everyone!”
She greeted them with a wide smile and eyes that sparked with joy and excitement, with a gleeful voice of pride and love only a mother could convey. The image of Entrapta disappeared as it sunk down through the floor, purple highlights travelled in between the floor padding and down through the wiring in to The Throne Room.
The purple data descended from the ceiling and constructed a full body of what Entrapta looked like when she was young, in her twenties, when they first met. She used her other hand to cup his other side of the head, used her thumb to rub his low hanging ears. She used the first hand to lift up Hordak’s head, to have him face her. She gave him the warmest smile she could.
“Do you remember me?”
She asked, almost having her heart sink. She saw a single tear immerge from his eye, which slowly ran down his cheek. She used her second hand to wipe it off his beautiful face.

Entrapta gave Hordak the same loving gaze she always did when she found him fascinating, beautiful, and gorgeous. Which was all of the time. Eyes half open, and a smirk. She was enamoured. And he was no different. He never smiled. Because his body didn’t allow it, he couldn’t fell his body, he was held together with string. And also he didn’t like the way he looked when smiling. People said he looked malicious. But for her, he could do anything. And so he smiled, even showed his dull red sharp teeth she luvd so much.

Etching: Here, we selectively remove material from the surface of the wafer to produce patterns. With an etching mask to protect the essential parts of the material, we use additional plasma or chemicals to remove the remaining photoresist.    
Ion Implantation: Here, we utilize a method to achieve a desired electrical characteristic in the semiconductor, i.e., a process of adding dopants. The process uses a beam of high-energy dopant ions to target precise areas of the wafer. The beam's energy level determines the depth of wafer penetration.    
Metallization: In this step, we apply a thin layer of aluminum over the entire wafer.    
Assembly and Packaging: Every one of the wafers contains hundreds of chips. Therefore, we use a diamond saw to cut the wafers into single chips. Afterward, they receive electrical testing, and we discard the failures. In contrast, those that pass receive a thorough visual inspection utilizing a microscope. Finally, we package the chips that pass the visual inspection as well as recheck them.

Inside a large forest was clearing which held what looked like a three-story building but other than that everything else was quite ordinary until five multi colored and erratic holes broke open out of nowhere.  From the hole came out the students who got the letters as well as their parents except for Zim, Adrien, and Chloe for two their parents were either dead or didn’t care and for Zim he didn’t have any. They stood in the clearing for what seemed like a half hour in silence until Star almost yelled at the top of her lungs.
“Where is everyone?!” Which opened the flood gates to the teens getting in complaints and whining.
“ Why are we here I could be playing my game slave.” “ And I could be looking for aliens.” Both Dib and Gaz complained to their father.
“ Papa pourquoi avons-nous même dû venir ici.”Chloe asked her father in a whiny tone.
“ I don’t even know why wanted to come here Steven?... Steven!” Pearl asked the absent boy who walking towards Zim with a happy and go lucky grin on his face hoping to make friends with the temperamental green alien.” You do realize that you kind of described Peridot,right?” I do now. Anyway, the young half gem reached Zim and tried to spark conversations.
“Hi I’m Steven and you are?” Zim just rolled his eyes in annoyance and said. “Look Steven is it, I do not nor need to talk so go away.” Steven looked hurt at Zims’ response but didn’t give up on the opportunity for a new friend.
“ Ah come on please you’re the first alien I’ve seen.”
“What!!!” Zim yelled in surprise at what Steven said
“ Well actually second if you count the gems also your dog is missing.” Steven told Zim innocently. Needless to say, everything went to complete chaos with Zim trying to attack Steven who then used his powers to defend himself which caused everyone trying to freak-out. Meanwhile with Gir the little disguised robot left the main group to release some coolant and was now just walking around the large forest which amazed him to no end. He was admiring a tree when he heard a rustle coming from the bushes to his right. Thinking the rustle could be a new rodent friend Gir waddled towards the bushes and started to introduce himself.
“Hi there, my names Gir want to be friends I have wa…” The introduction died in his vocal processors when a 20-ft. tall creature rose from the shrubbery. The creature looked down at Gir and let a low growl which turned into a thunderous which not only shook the surrounding area but caused the small robot to run and scream at the top of its vocal processors. Back with the main group the echoes of the roar were heard they stopped freaking out and started worry about what made that sound.
“ Wh-a-at was that?”  A slightly terrified, though she’ll never admit it, Sashi asked.
“ Je ne sais pas mais Coccienlle et Chat pourrait gérer.” Alya exclaimed but almost no one could understand her.
“ Je vais regarde aroud.” Both Adrien and Marinette said but before they could split off from the main group Gir came sprinting out of the forest, with his disguise torn, a bit and screeched out.
“RUN!!!!!” “Wait did that dog just talk?” Penn asked but before anyone could get a single word the beast thundered out of the forest on four of its legs towards the group. Star and her mother tried to access their magic but came up empty same for the gems and their weapons as well for Adrien and Marinette when they tried to transform. When the beast reached them most of the group closed their eyes not wanting to see what would happen next but instead of hearing flesh and bone being broken and ripped apart they heard what sounded like chuckling to which turned into a deep laugh. The group opened their to see th- “Quit calling me the beast you know my name so use it. You idiot.”   Fine they saw Drooler , a 20-ft. tall dark red dragon like creature with four arms black wings with scars on the wings and one on his chest he also has orange symbols on most of his body as well a light grey one. Who had his four arms wrapped around his chest and laughing, are you happy now. “ Well didn’t describe most of my good looks but I guess people wouldn’t be able to contain themselves if you did so 7/10”  Can I just get back to  telling the story “Sure.”  Thank you, Anyway the group just looked at him with shocked and frightened eyes no one moved or talked for an uncomfortable 5 min until Marco yelled.
“Who the heck are you!!” Drooler just looked slightly confused and asked.
“Did you my argument with Writer?” After he asked the question he looked around at the who mostly had confusion and fear on their faces. Drooler just hand to his head and shook it like he had a headache he mumbled.
“If only. So, names Drooler but you can call me Sir, Mr., or Fire-eater.” Most of the group were slightly confused by the last request but considering what they’re talking too they wouldn’t be surprised if he did do that. They started to walk to the building but Drooler told them to stop but before they could ask why a strange ship landed behind them. Out the ship walked out a tall a light midnight blue woman with almost white hair in a dark blue shawl, gem location upper chest area, followed by a thin light blue woman, same as Blue Diamond, with her hair covering her eyes and a third woman, gem location hip, who’s a mix of dark blue and black who was about 7 ft. tall an athletic build with uneven hair and an analytical face. Those figures seemed to cause the three gems and half gem to worry while the tall woman had a flash of anger appeared on her face and then she spoke.
“Onyx take care of these traitors.” The now named Onyx just nodded and pulled out a mace from the gem on her hip which surprised most of the group but not the Gems or the Maheswarans. However, what did surprise them was the speed the Onyx possessed which she used to sped towards the Crystal Gems raising her weapon at Amethyst but before Onyx could even hit Amethyst Drooler grabbed Onyxs’ arms with his lower pair of arms. Which caused Onyxs’ face to don a confused look which quickly turned into fear as two giant fists flattened her head causing her to disappear in cloud and her gem landing on the ground. Drooler just picked it up and flipped it towards Blue Diamond who surprisingly picked up out of fear of him.
“Come on, the guys are getting impatient.” He said casually said to the group which followed out of fear and curiosity. When they entered the building the size of the halls about three times the height of Drooler. Who was explaining what this building was, what they’re going to learn and whose teaching what but the group was actually paying attention to Droolers’ explanations instead they’re wondering what are the “guys” are, what they look like and how many there are. Also they’re wondering what the heck that loud banging they hear every 2 minutes which drove Pearl crazy so she asked.
“So uhm Mr.Drooler I do appreciate the tour but what is that annoying sound?!” Drooler just smiled and led them to a pair of large double doors which opened to a large auditorium with three rows of seats and a large stage. On that stage are eight creatures, the largest being 40 ft. tall and the smallest being 8 ft. tall, one of the creatures, a 25-ft. tall rhino like creature with blue marking on his chest, arms and tail, was about to ram into the now slightly dented wall until.
“Jack! Either you stop that or I’ll have you on Rot Worm clean up!!!”  Drooler yelled to the now named Jack who tripped and landed with a heavy dull thud. Jack looked at Drooler with an annoyed expression and asked.
“Boss, why ya do that for?” What surprised the group was Jacks’ Chicago accent but Drooler just answered with a small smile.
“Because I can. Now I believe we owe all of you some answers.”

The Realme X2 Pro is an important launch for Chinese smartphone maker Realme, but that wasn’t the only device to be unveiled this week. The Realme 5s was announced alongside the Realme X2 Pro, but has been somewhat overshadowed by its bigger sibling. We already knew a little about the Realme 5s thanks to multiple official teasers and leaks ahead of the launch. Realme’s exclusive partner Flipkart had also teased some key specifications of the Realme 5s. This new model is essentially the same as the Realme 5 but with an upgraded primary sensor in the quad-camera setup.
The 12-megapixel primary sensor has been swapped out for a 48-megapixel one, giving the new Realme 5s considerable advantage. While the rest of the device is identical to its predecessor, does the camera upgrade alone justify launching a whole new model? We spent some time with the Realme 5s, and here are our first impressions of the device.
Realme’s move to launch the Realme 5s reminds us of Xiaomi doing the exact same thing a few months ago. Xiaomi relaunched the Redmi Note 7 (Review) with a 48-megapixel primary camera and called it the Redmi Note 7S (Review), and Realme is pretty much doing the exact same thing.
The Realme 5s looks identical to the smartphone it is meant to replace, but the company has given it a new paint job to help distinguish between the two. It has a glossy finish which is different and the diamond texture that we are now used to seeing on Realme smartphones. The new smartphone is available in three colours: Crystal Red, Crystal Blue, and Crystal Purple. We have the Crystal Red colour variant with us, and we like the colour. Phones with glossy finishes pick up fingerprints easily and the Realme 5s isn’t any different, however, the diamond pattern makes it hard to spot smudges. Realme also supplies a case in the box which helps eliminate the problem.
Pick the smartphone up and you will notice that it is a bit heavy, tipping the scales at 198g. This could very well be down to its 5,000mAh battery. You’ll also notice that it is thick at 9.3mm but we didn’t feel it in our hands as the sides are curved making it easy to hold.

The glossy finish and the diamond pattern are guaranteed to grab eyeballs
The big 6.5-inch display on the Realme 5s has a tiny dewdrop notch at the top which houses the 13-megapixel selfie camera. Realme has opted for Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to help the smartphone survive daily wear. The display bezels aren’t too thick on the sides but the one on the bottom is thicker.
We found the buttons on the device to be well-positioned and easy to reach. They also provide solid clicky feedback, so you won’t be second-guessing any input. We can’t say the same about the positioning of the fingerprint scanner as it is slightly too high for our liking. Realme’s quad-camera module sits right next to this fingerprint scanner and protrudes slightly, causing the smartphone to be raised when placed on a flat surface. The camera module has a metallic rim around it which helps the lens from getting scratched. There’s also a Realme logo aligned vertically on the rear.
The Realme 5s has dual Nano-SIM slots along with a dedicated microSD card slot which accepts cards of up to 256GB. You’ll find a Micro-USB port at the bottom along with the 3.5mm audio jack and the loudspeaker. A USB Type-C port would have been a welcome change, considering that smartphones such as the Redmi Note 8 (Review) sport one in the same price segment.
The internals of the Realme 5s is unchanged from those of the Realme 5 (Review), which means that this phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC. This octa-core processor is based on an 11nm manufacturing process and is clocked at 2GHz. Realme offers the 5s in two variants: 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, and 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. These are priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 10,999 respectively. That overlaps the pricing of the two equivalent Realme 5 variants. The software isn’t any different either, so you get ColorOS 6 running on top of Android 9 Pie.

  Let’s talk about the cameras; the key differentiators between the Realme 5s and Realme 5. Realme’s move to a 48-megapixel primary sensor makes the 5s one of only a few smartphones priced under Rs. 10,000 to sport such a camera. The company has opted for a Samsung GM1 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and 1.6-micron pixels, and this phone utilises 4-in-1 pixel binning. We looked through the camera app and saw that the smartphone delivers 12-megapixel photos by default, but you do get a 48-megapixel mode which lets you take photos at the full resolution.
The rest of the cameras are unchanged, so just like the Realme 5, the Realme 5s has an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel portrait camera (i.e. a depth sensor), and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
When we reviewed the Realme 5, it was among the few smartphones to sport a macro camera, but things have changed now. Competitors such as the Redmi Note 8 have one too, which could have prompted Realme to bump up the primary sensor. Apart from their performance in low light, we had found the Realme 5’s cameras to be acceptable for the price. Will the Realme 5s set a new benchmark in this price segment? Scaling up the quantum chip
MIT researchers have developed a process to manufacture and integrate “artificial atoms,” created by atomic-scale defects in microscopically thin slices of diamond, with photonic circuitry, producing the largest quantum chip of its type.
The accomplishment “marks a turning point” in the field of scalable quantum processors, says Dirk Englund, an associate professor in MIT’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Millions of quantum processors will be needed to build quantum computers, and the new research demonstrates a viable way to scale up processor production, he and his colleagues note.
Unlike classical computers, which process and store information using bits represented by either 0s and 1s, quantum computers operate using quantum bits, or qubits, which can represent 0, 1, or both at the same time. This strange property allows quantum computers to simultaneously perform multiple calculations, solving problems that would be intractable for classical computers.
The qubits in the new chip are artificial atoms made from defects in diamond, which can be prodded with visible light and microwaves to emit photons that carry quantum information. The process, which Englund and his team describe today in Nature, is a hybrid approach, in which carefully selected “quantum micro chiplets” containing multiple diamond-based qubits are placed on an aluminum nitride photonic integrated circuit.
“In the past 20 years of quantum engineering, it has been the ultimate vision to manufacture such artificial qubit systems at volumes comparable to integrated electronics,” Englund says. “Although there has been remarkable progress in this very active area of research, fabrication and materials complications have thus far yielded just two to three emitters per photonic system.”
Using their hybrid method, Englund and colleagues were able to build a 128-qubit system — the largest integrated artificial atom-photonics chip yet.
“It’s quite exciting in terms of the technology,” says Marko Lončar, the Tiantsai Lin Professor of Electrical Engineering at Harvard University, who was not involved in the study. “They were able to get stable emitters in a photonic platform while maintaining very nice quantum memories.”
Other authors on the Nature paper include MIT researchers Noel H. Wan, Tsung-Ju Lu, Kevin C. Chen, Michael P. Walsh, Matthew E. Trusheim, Lorenzo De Santis, Eric A. Bersin, Isaac B. Harris, Sara L. Mouradian and Ian R. Christen; with Edward S. Bielejec at Sandia National Laboratories.
Quality control for chiplets
The artificial atoms in the chiplets consist of color centers in diamonds, defects in diamond’s carbon lattice where adjacent carbon atoms are missing, with their spaces either filled by a different element or left vacant. In the MIT chiplets, the replacement elements are germanium and silicon. Each center functions as an atom-like emitter whose spin states can form a qubit. The artificial atoms emit colored particles of light, or photons, that carry the quantum information represented by the qubit.
Diamond color centers make good solid-state qubits, but “the bottleneck with this platform is actually building a system and device architecture that can scale to thousands and millions of qubits,” Wan explains. “Artificial atoms are in a solid crystal, and unwanted contamination can affect important quantum properties such as coherence times. Furthermore, variations within the crystal can cause the qubits to be different from one another, and that makes it difficult to scale these systems.”
Instead of trying to build a large quantum chip entirely in diamond, the researchers decided to take a modular and hybrid approach. “We use semiconductor fabrication techniques to make these small chiplets of diamond, from which we select only the highest quality qubit modules,” says Wan. “Then we integrate those chiplets piece-by-piece into another chip that ‘wires’ the chiplets together into a larger device.”
The integration takes place on a photonic integrated circuit, which is analogous to an electronic integrated circuit but uses photons rather than electrons to carry information. Photonics provides the underlying architecture to route and switch photons between modules in the circuit with low loss. The circuit platform is aluminum nitride, rather than the traditional silicon of some integrated circuits.
Using this hybrid approach of photonic circuits and diamond chiplets, the researchers were able to connect 128 qubits on one platform. The qubits are stable and long-lived, and their emissions can be tuned within the circuit to produce spectrally indistinguishable photons, according to Wan and colleagues.
A modular approach
While the platform offers a scalable process to produce artificial atom-photonics chips, the next step will be to “turn it on,” so to speak, to test its processing skills.
“This is a proof of concept that solid-state qubit emitters are very scalable quantum technologies,” says Wan. “In order to process quantum information, the next step would be to control these large numbers of qubits and also induce interactions between them.”
The qubits in this type of chip design wouldn’t necessarily have to be these particular diamond color centers. Other chip designers might choose other types of diamond color centers, atomic defects in other semiconductor crystals like silicon carbide, certain semiconductor quantum dots, or rare-earth ions in crystals. “Because the integration technique is hybrid and modular, we can choose the best material suitable for each component, rather than relying on natural properties of only one material, thus allowing us to combine the best properties of each disparate material into one system,” says Lu.
Finding a way to automate the process and demonstrate further integration with optoelectronic components such as modulators and detectors will be necessary to build even bigger chips necessary for modular quantum computers and multichannel quantum repeaters that transport qubits over long distances, the researchers say.

The Realme 5 Pro succeeds the Realme 3 Pro in just four months, yet manages to bring in significant updates without pushing the price tag by a lot.

The most notable upgrade comes with the camera, as the Realme 5 Pro is the first of many devices to sport a quad-camera setup and will be a trend in followed by most Realme devices going forward. Secondly, the processor gets a slight boost with the Snapdragon 712 instead of the 710. Lastly, the back panel gets a facelift with a new design.
With all of that, Realme has managed to make a device that is one of the best for its price, and gives much needed competition to the Redmi Note 7 Pro in India.
Realme 5 Pro price and availability In India, the Realme 5 Pro is available in three configurations. There's a base 4+64GB variant which is priced at Rs 13,999, followed by the 6+64GB variant at Rs 14,999 and the top variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at Rs 16,999.
Design
The Realme 5 Pro aspires to look a lot more premium than its price tag would suggest. More evidently because of its “Crystal design” on the back which almost looks like facets of a diamond. It looks cool but is a little overdone currently as almost every smartphone manufacturer has some form of a gradient blue finish available.
However, it is still a plastic back and will be susceptible to scratches over time. Thankfully, my unit has had none till now, and the included case adds a little more peace of mind.
It definitely doesn’t feel very premium in the hand and attracts ample smudges too. Overall, it’s a functional design that isn’t too slippery or bulky, but is unlikely to blow you away. It looks more interesting than your regular plastic back phone and doesn't feel flimsy.
Display
Smartphone displays in this budget are usually pretty basic, and the Realme 5 Pro is no exception. Spread across 6.3-inches, we get an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080. Eating into that screen, there’s a small waterdrop notch housing the front camera. Realme states that this “minidrop” notch is smaller than the previous generation, and by the looks of it, it definitely seems small.
The panel itself is pretty color accurate but lacks the oomph inherently present on OLED displays. But considering the price of the Realme 5 Pro, that is a reasonable trade-off.  Unless you compare it to an AMOLED panel, the colors and contrast won't disappoint.
Maximum brightness levels are pretty adequate too, bringing serviceable sunlight legibility. Similarly, the minimum brightness was also pretty ow for use in dark scenarios.
As for protection, we get Gorilla Glass 3+. There's a simple plastic screen protector pre-applied with the phone which is always appreciated.
Performance Thanks to companies like Xiaomi, India has grown to be a very processor-centric market, and Realme has carefully powered the 5 Pro with the Snapdragon 712 AIE chipset. This chipset has been fabricated at 10nm, bringing in higher efficiency and raw processing power than any other phone in this price segment. Interestingly, the SD 712 is supposed to be 10% more powerful than the SD 710 which powers the much more expensive Realme X.
For regular use including social media, multi-tasking, calling and texting, etc., the Realme 5 Pro never broke a sweat. Every action was usually snappy, just slightly bogged down by not-so-fluid animations. The Snapdragon 712 is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage which work in tandem to increase performance and reduce app opening times.
Another increasingly common use case in this segment is gaming. The processor always held its own for even heavy 3D games such as PUBG while providing a consistent and stable frame-rate throughout, with minimal heating. We've seen this same chipset perform a lot worse in other phones, so Realme must have done some solid optimising.
The Realme 5 Pro runs on ColorOS 6.0.1 built atop Android 9 Pie. ColorOS is not a light skin by any means, and brings a lot of cosmetic and functional changes over stock Android. Everything from the icons to the notification shade is very different and can overwhelm those coming from stock-ish Android interfaces. Customization are limited to visual changes such as the wallpaper and icons, but most other elements remain intact.
Having said that, it does bring in some useful features such as a private space for sensitive content, hotspot management to limit the data by each user and downloadable themes.

Very Good Bagels, Easy-ish Too
My bagel-making experiments began earlier this summer in, of all places, the modestly equipped kitchen of a rental cabin at Lake George. We had just tasted the first good summer tomatoes, found at a farm stand in Bolton Landing, and all at once, all I wanted to eat was a good, toasted bagel, smeared with cream cheese, topped with a beefy tomato slice, sprinkled with sea salt.
I’ve longed to find/adapt/create an easy or easy-ish bagel recipe, but past summers have escaped without more than the odd experiment. It was time to take a deep or deep-ish dive.
Having had success using the peasant bread dough to make many various bread forms, I hoped it might take to the bagel format, too, but I quickly learned it would not: the peasant bread dough is way too wet (high hydration*) and my first experiments yielded flat, dense disks, edible but not acceptable.
I’ll spare you all the details, but after many experiments, I’ve learned that the process of making bagels is a real departure from the one I’m so used to. Bagels require kneading, shaping, boiling, and egg washing. But they can, I think, be easy-ish. I find these to be just that, kind of fun to make, very tasty, and perfect for my ideal breakfast this time of year. Good enough for me. I hope you approve.
In sum I’ve learned:
• To get that characteristic chewiness—in other words, to ensure bagels don’t simply taste like bread shaped like bagels—the dough needs to be kneaded. After reading a Stella Park’s article, I decided to do this in the food processor, which takes 90 seconds.
• As always, a digitial scale is essential for consistent results, but it’s even more essential here—lower hydration* doughs are less forgiving. I never weigh the water for peasant bread recipes, but I do here, and I also weigh the salt, which, in this humidity, has been feeling lighter in the measuring spoons than usual.
• To prevent the shaped dough rings from turning into pancakes upon being boiled, the dough hydration* needs to be relatively low. In other words, the dough should be relatively stiff.
• If you have the time, an overnight rise in the fridge is best.
• To get that nice, golden sheen during the baking, an egg wash is essential. Commercial bakers often boil their bagels in a lye solution, which promotes browning and gives the bagel crust a crispness. As lye is something I am unwilling to experiment with—remember, I’ve embarked on a deep-ish dive—an egg wash is a fine substitute. It does not help with crispness, but it gives the bagels the look.
• An optional but nice ingredients to use in your homemade bagels is barley malt syrup, which can be ordered online or found in specialty shops. Stella Parks says that in addition to providing flavor, barley malt syrup promotes “a more delicate texture in the crust, one that’s chewy and crisp rather than crunchy and hard.” I’ve had a jar on hand since reading her article, and I’ve been happy with the texture of my homemade bagels as a result, but know that you can create very good bagels at home without it. I recently learned that the chef, David Wurth, of Cross Roads in Hillsdale, who makes exceptional bagels, uses maple syrup in his boiling solution, so if you don’t feel like hunting down barley malt syrup, you don’t have to.
* Hydration is not something I ever talk about here or in my book, because typically I find the concept confuses and intimidates people rather than helps. Hydration is the percentage of liquid in a dough. I mention it today only because I think the most significant difference—more than kneading, boiling, shaping—between bagels and the peasant bread (and so many breads I love) is the hydration. Bagels are low hydration; peasant bread is high. Bagels are not light and airy; they are chewy and dense. These bagels are 69% hydration (calculated by dividing the weight of the water by the weight of the flour), whereas the peasant bread dough is about 94% hydration. 
Here’s a play-by-play: Gather your ingredients and equipment. A digital scale and a food processor make this recipe nearly foolproof:
Whisk together the water and barley malt syrup:
Add the liquid ingredients to the flour, salt, and instant yeast, and knead for 90 seconds:
The dough will be warm and sticky:
Use greased hands to transfer it to a bowl. Coat it with a little bit of olive or grapeseed oil. On the left: just-mixed dough. On the right: dough after a night in the fridge.
You all have one of these, right?
After 12 hours (or more or less) in the fridge, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface.
Portion the dough into 12 pieces:
Ball them up: Shape them into rings, by using your thumb to poke a hole in the center of the round, then both hands to stretch the dough out and under—don’t afraid to be aggressive. Video guidance here. Prepare the water bath by boiling water with barley malt syrup: Get ready to boil: Boil 30 seconds a side: Transfer boiled bagels to a tea towel-lined sheet pan. Brush bagels with an egg wash: Dip in desired seasonings: Bake until golden. Invite some friends over for brunch: Find yourself some good tomatoes; enter summer-morning breakfast nirvana.

Equipment Notes:
As noted above, I find a scale to be imperative here: I use it to weigh not only the flour but also the water, salt, and yeast.
A large sheet pan is so handy — it fits all 12 bagels at once.
You’ll need a spider or a slotted spoon to remove the bagels from the boiling water to a sheet pan.
A food processor or stand mixer will allow you to knead the dough quickly and powerfully.  I love my 14-cup Cuisinart. Note: Watch your food processor closely! If you make the larger amount (12 bagels), it’s a lot of dough for even a large food processor. Also, after you add the liquids to the food processor, begin the kneading immediately to prevent the liquid from escaping through the center hole.
If you don’t have a food processor or a stand mixer, knead the dough by hand briefly, using as little additional flour as possible.
Ingredient Notes:
Many bread authorities swear by using high-gluten flour. This is something I have yet to try, but I imagine it would only improve the chewiness. But if you don’t feel like picking up another product, don’t hesitate to use all-purpose flour, which is what I typically use in all of the breads I bake.
Barley malt syrup is hard to find. Shops like Whole Foods Market typically sell it. I order it online.
Ingredients
For 8 bagels:
4 cups (512 g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
2 teaspoons (13 g) Diamond Crystal kosher salt
1 tsp (4 g) instant yeast
1½ cups (357 g) lukewarm water
1 teaspoon barley malt syrup, maple syrup, or honey + more for boiling
grapeseed or olive or other neutral oil
For 12 bagels:
6 cups (768 g) all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons (20 g) kosher salt, I use Diamond Crystal
1.5 tsp (6 g) instant yeast
2 1/4 cups (536 g) lukewarm water
1  heaping teaspoon barley malt syrup, maple syrup, or honey + more for boiling
grapeseed or olive or other neutral oil
For baking:
1 egg whisked with 1 tablespoon water
various toppings: everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, dukkah, etc.
Instructions
In the bowl of a food processor fitted with the blade attachment, pulse together the flour, salt and yeast. In a medium bowl, whisk together the water and the barley malt syrup. Add it to the food processor and immediately (see notes for why) purée for 90 seconds, standing nearby the entire time.
With oiled hands, transfer the dough from the food processor to the bowl. The dough will feel warm and sticky. With oiled hands stretch the dough up, then down toward the center several times to form a ball. Cover with a tea towel, cloth bowl cover or plastic wrap. Transfer bowl to the fridge for 12 hours or longer.
Place a large pot of water on to boil. When it simmers, add a big glug (about ¼ cup) barley malt syrup. Preheat an oven to 425ºF. Line two sheet pans or one large pan one with parchment paper. Prepare the egg wash if you haven’t already. Place toppings of choice in shallow bowls.
Remove bowl with dough from fridge. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. For perfectly even bagels, use your scale to portion the dough into 8 or 12 pieces, depending on the quantity of dough you made—if you weighed your ingredients, each dough ball should weigh about 105  to 110 g. Form each portion into a ball, using the pinky edges of your fingers to create tension. After all of the balls have been formed, dust your hands with flour and use your thumb to poke a hole into the center of each dough ball. Use your hands to stretch the dough into a donut-shape—don’t be afraid to really tug outward and under, almost as if you were going to turn the dough inside out but stop before you do (video guidance here). Note: If you don’t pull out and under, the bagels will puff into cone-liked shapes upon baking. 
Line a sheet pan with a tea towel. Have a stopwatch (or your phone or a clock) nearby. Drop 4 of the dough rings into the boiling water at one time. Boil 30 seconds on each side. Use a spider or slotted spoon to transfer the boiled rings to the towel-lined pan. Repeat until all of the rings have been boiled.
Transfer rings to a sheet pan—if you an extra large sheet pan (see notes), you can bake all 12 at once. If you have a smaller pan, bake 6 to 8 at one time. Brush each ring with the egg wash. If you are using any toppings, dip the egg-washed bagels into the topping-filled bowls, then transfer back to sheet pan.
Transfer pans to the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until bagels are evenly golden all around. Let bagels cool on sheet pans.

Very Good Bagels, Easy-ish Too
My bagel-making experiments began earlier this summer in, of all places, the modestly equipped kitchen of a rental cabin at Lake George. We had just tasted the first good summer tomatoes, found at a farm stand in Bolton Landing, and all at once, all I wanted to eat was a good, toasted bagel, smeared with cream cheese, topped with a beefy tomato slice, sprinkled with sea salt.
I’ve longed to find/adapt/create an easy or easy-ish bagel recipe, but past summers have escaped without more than the odd experiment. It was time to take a deep or deep-ish dive.
Having had success using the peasant bread dough to make many various bread forms, I hoped it might take to the bagel format, too, but I quickly learned it would not: the peasant bread dough is way too wet (high hydration*) and my first experiments yielded flat, dense disks, edible but not acceptable.
I’ll spare you all the details, but after many experiments, I’ve learned that the process of making bagels is a real departure from the one I’m so used to. Bagels require kneading, shaping, boiling, and egg washing. But they can, I think, be easy-ish. I find these to be just that, kind of fun to make, very tasty, and perfect for my ideal breakfast this time of year. Good enough for me. I hope you approve.
In sum I’ve learned:
• To get that characteristic chewiness—in other words, to ensure bagels don’t simply taste like bread shaped like bagels—the dough needs to be kneaded. After reading a Stella Park’s article, I decided to do this in the food processor, which takes 90 seconds.
• As always, a digitial scale is essential for consistent results, but it’s even more essential here—lower hydration* doughs are less forgiving. I never weigh the water for peasant bread recipes, but I do here, and I also weigh the salt, which, in this humidity, has been feeling lighter in the measuring spoons than usual.
• To prevent the shaped dough rings from turning into pancakes upon being boiled, the dough hydration* needs to be relatively low. In other words, the dough should be relatively stiff.
• If you have the time, an overnight rise in the fridge is best.
• To get that nice, golden sheen during the baking, an egg wash is essential. Commercial bakers often boil their bagels in a lye solution, which promotes browning and gives the bagel crust a crispness. As lye is something I am unwilling to experiment with—remember, I’ve embarked on a deep-ish dive—an egg wash is a fine substitute. It does not help with crispness, but it gives the bagels the look.
• An optional but nice ingredients to use in your homemade bagels is barley malt syrup, which can be ordered online or found in specialty shops. Stella Parks says that in addition to providing flavor, barley malt syrup promotes “a more delicate texture in the crust, one that’s chewy and crisp rather than crunchy and hard.” I’ve had a jar on hand since reading her article, and I’ve been happy with the texture of my homemade bagels as a result, but know that you can create very good bagels at home without it. I recently learned that the chef, David Wurth, of Cross Roads in Hillsdale, who makes exceptional bagels, uses maple syrup in his boiling solution, so if you don’t feel like hunting down barley malt syrup, you don’t have to.
* Hydration is not something I ever talk about here or in my book, because typically I find the concept confuses and intimidates people rather than helps. Hydration is the percentage of liquid in a dough. I mention it today only because I think the most significant difference—more than kneading, boiling, shaping—between bagels and the peasant bread (and so many breads I love) is the hydration. Bagels are low hydration; peasant bread is high. Bagels are not light and airy; they are chewy and dense. These bagels are 69% hydration (calculated by dividing the weight of the water by the weight of the flour), whereas the peasant bread dough is about 94% hydration. 
Here’s a play-by-play: Gather your ingredients and equipment. A digital scale and a food processor make this recipe nearly foolproof:
Whisk together the water and barley malt syrup:
Add the liquid ingredients to the flour, salt, and instant yeast, and knead for 90 seconds:
The dough will be warm and sticky:
Use greased hands to transfer it to a bowl. Coat it with a little bit of olive or grapeseed oil. On the left: just-mixed dough. On the right: dough after a night in the fridge.

Portion the dough into 12 pieces:
Ball them up: Shape them into rings, by using your thumb to poke a hole in the center of the round, then both hands to stretch the dough out and under—don’t afraid to be aggressive. Video guidance here. Prepare the water bath by boiling water with barley malt syrup: Get ready to boil: Boil 30 seconds a side: Transfer boiled bagels to a tea towel-lined sheet pan. Brush bagels with an egg wash: Dip in desired seasonings: Bake until golden. Invite some friends over for brunch: Find yourself some good tomatoes; enter summer-morning breakfast nirvana.

Equipment Notes:
As noted above, I find a scale to be imperative here: I use it to weigh not only the flour but also the water, salt, and yeast.
A large sheet pan is so handy — it fits all 12 bagels at once.
You’ll need a spider or a slotted spoon to remove the bagels from the boiling water to a sheet pan.
A food processor or stand mixer will allow you to knead the dough quickly and powerfully.  I love my 14-cup Cuisinart. Note: Watch your food processor closely! If you make the larger amount (12 bagels), it’s a lot of dough for even a large food processor. You’ll only run the machine for 90 seconds, but it will work hard during those 90 seconds and may jump around a bit. Also, after you add the liquids to the food processor, begin the kneading immediately to prevent the liquid from escaping through the center hole.
If you don’t have a food processor or a stand mixer, knead the dough by hand briefly, using as little additional flour as possible.
Ingredient Notes:
Many bread authorities swear by using high-gluten flour. This is something I have yet to try, but I imagine it would only improve the chewiness. But if you don’t feel like picking up another product, don’t hesitate to use all-purpose flour, which is what I typically use in all of the breads I bake.
Barley malt syrup is hard to find. Shops like Whole Foods Market typically sell it. I order it online.
Ingredients
For 8 bagels:
4 cups (512 g) all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
2 teaspoons (13 g) Diamond Crystal kosher salt
1 tsp (4 g) instant yeast
1½ cups (357 g) lukewarm water
1 teaspoon barley malt syrup, maple syrup, or honey + more for boiling
grapeseed or olive or other neutral oil
For 12 bagels:
6 cups (768 g) all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons (20 g) kosher salt, I use Diamond Crystal
1.5 tsp (6 g) instant yeast
2 1/4 cups (536 g) lukewarm water
1  heaping teaspoon barley malt syrup, maple syrup, or honey + more for boiling
grapeseed or olive or other neutral oil
For baking:
1 egg whisked with 1 tablespoon water
various toppings: everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, dukkah, etc.
Instructions
In the bowl of a food processor fitted with the blade attachment, pulse together the flour, salt and yeast. In a medium bowl, whisk together the water and the barley malt syrup. Add it to the food processor and immediately (see notes for why) purée for 90 seconds, standing nearby the entire time.
With oiled hands, transfer the dough from the food processor to the bowl. The dough will feel warm and sticky. With oiled hands stretch the dough up, then down toward the center several times to form a ball. Cover with a tea towel, cloth bowl cover or plastic wrap. Transfer bowl to the fridge for 12 hours or longer.
Place a large pot of water on to boil. When it simmers, add a big glug (about ¼ cup) barley malt syrup. Preheat an oven to 425ºF. Line two sheet pans or one large pan one with parchment paper. Prepare the egg wash if you haven’t already. Place toppings of choice in shallow bowls.
Remove bowl with dough from fridge. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface. For perfectly even bagels, use your scale to portion the dough into 8 or 12 pieces, depending on the quantity of dough you made—if you weighed your ingredients, each dough ball should weigh about 105  to 110 g. Form each portion into a ball, using the pinky edges of your fingers to create tension. After all of the balls have been formed, dust your hands with flour and use your thumb to poke a hole into the center of each dough ball. Use your hands to stretch the dough into a donut-shape—don’t be afraid to really tug outward and under, almost as if you were going to turn the dough inside out but stop before you do (video guidance here). Note: If you don’t pull out and under, the bagels will puff into cone-liked shapes upon baking. 
Line a sheet pan with a tea towel. Have a stopwatch (or your phone or a clock) nearby. Drop 4 of the dough rings into the boiling water at one time. Boil 30 seconds on each side. Use a spider or slotted spoon to transfer the boiled rings to the towel-lined pan. Repeat until all of the rings have been boiled.
Transfer rings to a sheet pan—if you an extra large sheet pan (see notes), you can bake all 12 at once. If you have a smaller pan, bake 6 to 8 at one time. Brush each ring with the egg wash. If you are using any toppings, dip the egg-washed bagels into the topping-filled bowls, then transfer back to sheet pan.
Transfer pans to the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until bagels are evenly golden all around. Let bagels cool on sheet pans.

Greek Salad is one of my favorite things in the whole wide world. I love it filled with chopped vegetables, some sort of topping, and usually skip the romaine. The kids love it, too, but I always saw dishes in the sink with raw onions framing the empty plates. In salads all over Latin America, onions are soaked in vinegar to cut their sharpness. I started tweaking my notes. The plates in the sink are totally naked now.
Below, I’ll give all my variations, starting with my seasoning blend, a raw or grilled salad base, then 5 toppers to pick from. Two are vegetarian, two are for carnivores, and one for pescatarians.

Jen’s Greek Seasoning
1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon Diamond Crystal kosher salt 1 Tablespoon black pepper 1 Tablespoon + 2 teaspoons dried oregano 1 Tablespoon + 2 teaspoons granulated garlic 1 Tablespoon dried marjoram 2 teaspoons dried lemon peel Grind in a spice grinder or coffee mill. Empty into a small glass jar. You don’t want to move this into a spice tin because it contains salt, and that would corrode your beloved tin.
Pick a salad base!
Jen’s Greek Chopped Salad Base – Raw
3 Tablespoons red wine vinegar ½ red onion, thinly sliced from pole to pole, end to end, whatever you’d like to call it Combine in a small bowl, and let rest while you prep the rest of the salad.
1 pound tomatoes (about 3 cups), chopped 1 red, orange, or yellow bell pepper, chopped 1 green bell pepper, chopped 1 English cucumber, seeded (a grapefruit knife is lovely for this), and sliced on the diagonal ½ bunch flat leaf Parsley, leaves only, roughly chopped ½ cup Kalamata olives, halved if you like ¼ cup pepperoncini peppers, sliced, optional Combine in a large bowl. Move the onions to this bowl, using a slotted spoon.
You should still have about 2 Tablespoons of red wine vinegar left. If not, add enough to equal 2 Tablespoons. 1 Tablespoon Jen’s Greek Seasoning or Penzey’s ½ teaspoon sugar Sprinkle into the vinegar and give a good whisk. ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil Slowly pour in while whisking. Toss with the salad. Divide between 4 plates.
4 ounces Feta, broken into nice chunks with your knife point, or cubed if you prefer tidier Accessorize those salads.

Jen’s Greek Chopped Salad Base – Grilled
Go fire up your grill. Mine’s charcoal and wood, a medium fire. If you’re rocking propane, high is nice.
2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar 1 Tablespoon Jen’s Greek Seasoning, or Penzey’s Sprinkle into the vinegar and give a good whisk. ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil Slowly pour in while whisking.
1 red onion, chopped about 1 inch chunks 1 red, orange, or yellow bell pepper, chopped about 1 inch chunks 1 green bell pepper, chopped about 1 inch chunks 1 pound grape tomatoes Toss in the marinade. Grill the onion and peppers in a grill basket or on kebabs for about 8 minutes, giving the basket a good shake or rotating the kebabs once or twice. Add the tomatoes for the last 2 minutes. Toss back in that bowl.
1 English cucumber, seeded (a grapefruit knife is lovely for this), and sliced on the diagonal ½ bunch flat leaf Parsley, leaves only, roughly chopped ½ cup Kalamata olives, halved if you like ¼ cup pepperoncini peppers, sliced, optional Add to the grilled veggie bowl. Toss, and divide between plates.

Pick one, unless you prefer a sad, naked salad. <sniff> It’s actually lovely, but toppings make people smile!
Shrimp
1 ½ pounds shrimp, peeled and deveined. I prefer the tails on, but you do you. 3 Tablespoons olive oil 1 ½ Tablespoons Jen’s Greek Seasoning or Penzeys Toss and let marinate for 2 hours. 1-2 lemons, 1 wedged if using the stove, 2 halved if grilling
Stovetop – Heat a large cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium heat. When the skillet’s nice and hot, add the shrimp in one layer. Cook until they are just opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Pile into the center of the plates. Garnish with lemon wedges.
Grill – Preheat the grill over high. Skewer the shrimp pretty tightly together and halve the lemons. Place the lemons on first, cut side down, then the shrimp, on the grill. Grill the shrimp until they are just opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Pile into the center of the plates. Garnish each plate with a lemon half.

Lamb
½ onion Grate, then wring out in a tea towel to get rid of the moisture. Put in a medium bowl. 1 pound ground lamb 1 Tablespoon Jen’s Greek Seasoning or Penzeys Add to the bowl and combine. Press into logs around 4 skewers. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. I like to do this in the morning, so they’re waiting for me at dinnertime. 2 Tablespoons olive oil 2 lemons, halved Grill – Preheat the grill over high. Brush the lamb with olive oil. Place lemons, cut side down, on the grill. And place the lamb skewers on the grill. I love a grill mat for these just because they’re on the delicate side. Grill for about 10-12 minutes, until no longer pink inside, turning the skewers frequently. Lay a skewer on top of each salad. Garnish each plate with a lemon half.

2 cups Greek yogurt. Okay, look at the nutrition label. I know. <Snooze> I’m sorry. You just have to check out the protein. About 20 grams per cup is the stuff with the amazing creamy consistency. Get that stuff! 1 English cucumber (or 2 little cukes, peeled), seeded, grated, and squeezed in a tea towel to get rid of all that excess moisture 3 garlic cloves, pressed or smashed and minced – We’re garlic heads. Reduce this to 1 or 2 if you’re not! ¼ cup fresh dill, chopped pretty finely 1 teaspoon Diamond Crystal kosher salt ¼ teaspoon black pepper ¼ cup fresh lemon juice 1 Tablespoon olive oil Combine in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour. You can make this the day before.
4 loaves pita bread Cut into wedges and wrap in a foil bundle. Warm in a 350°F (177°C) oven for about 10 minutes.

Hummus
(Need to soak the beans the day before!) Buy a premade hummus if you must… I love to add one whole head of roasted garlic to the hummus recipe from Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street: The New Home Cooking. I have that recipe posted here. Roasting garlic is easy peasy. Might as well do a few since you’re firing up the oven. 🙂 Just squeeze the extras into a glass jar and put it in the fridge to make soup, potatoes, mac and cheese, meatloaf, etc super happy later this week. Preheat the oven to 400°F or 205°C, depending on what side of the pond you’re on. 1 head garlic 1 teaspoon olive oil Salt Pepper Cut off about the top half inch of the head to expose the cloves. Rub the exposed garlic with a teaspoon of olive oil. Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. Place on a square of aluminum foil. Gather the foil over the garlic to cover it, and give it a tight twist above the top of the garlic head. Move to a little baking sheet. Stop there, or make a little vampire-fighting army of roasted garlic if you’d like! Roast til nice and soft, about 45 minutes. Cool til you can handle it, press the garlic near the base, and squeeze out those little cloves of heavenly deliciousness into the food processor you’re making the hummus in. Mmmmm. Garlic yummus!
4 loaves pita bread Cut into wedges and wrap in a foil bundle. Warm in a 350°F (177°C) oven for about 10 minutes.

Chicken
1 pound chicken breasts, cut into 1 ½ inch cubes if grilling, left whole and pounded to about 1/2” thick if cooking on the stove 2 Tablespoons olive oil 1 Tablespoon Jen’s Greek Seasoning or Penzeys Toss and let marinate for 2 hours. 1-2 lemons, wedged if using the stove, halved if grilling
Stove – Heat a large cast-iron or nonstick skillet over medium heat. Generously sprinkle both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper. When the skillet’s nice and hot, add the olive oil, swirl it around, and add the chicken in one layer. Cook, flipping once, until an internal thermometer registers 165°F or until all the pink is gone from the center. Slice it up and add to the center of those plates. Garnish with lemon wedges.
Grill – Preheat the grill over high. Grill until they cooked through, about 10 minutes with the lemons cut side down. Pile into the center of the plates. Garnish each plate with a lemon half.

Protagonists Prep Ch 2
Student Arrival Typed by WriterOfFanfiction. I don’t own Steven Universe, Miraculous SVTFOE, Invader Zim, and Penn Zero Part Time Hero.
Inside a large forest was clearing which held what looked like a three-story building but other than that everything else was quite ordinary until five multi colored and erratic holes broke open out of nowhere.  From the hole came out the students who got the letters as well as their parents except for Zim, Adrien, and Chloe for two their parents were either dead or didn’t care and for Zim he didn’t have any. They stood in the clearing for what seemed like a half hour in silence until Star almost yelled at the top of her lungs.
“Where is everyone?!” Which opened the flood gates to the teens getting in complaints and whining.
“ Why are we here I could be playing my game slave.” “ And I could be looking for aliens.” Both Dib and Gaz complained to their father.
“ Papa pourquoi avons-nous même dû venir ici.”Chloe asked her father in a whiny tone.
“ I don’t even know why wanted to come here Steven?… Steven!” Pearl asked the absent boy who walking towards Zim with a happy and go lucky grin on his face hoping to make friends with the temperamental green alien.” You do realize that you kind of described Peridot,right?” I do now. Anyway, the young half gem reached Zim and tried to spark conversations.
“Hi I’m Steven and you are?” Zim just rolled his eyes in annoyance and said. “Look Steven is it, I do not nor need to talk so go away.” Steven looked hurt at Zims’ response but didn’t give up on the opportunity for a new friend.
“ Ah come on please you’re the first alien I’ve seen.”
“What!!!” Zim yelled in surprise at what Steven said
“ Well actually second if you count the gems also your dog is missing.” Steven told Zim innocently. Needless to say, everything went to complete chaos with Zim trying to attack Steven who then used his powers to defend himself which caused everyone trying to freak-out. Meanwhile with Gir the little disguised robot left the main group to release some coolant and was now just walking around the large forest which amazed him to no end. He was admiring a tree when he heard a rustle coming from the bushes to his right. Thinking the rustle could be a new rodent friend Gir waddled towards the bushes and started to introduce himself.
“Hi there, my names Gir want to be friends I have wa…” The introduction died in his vocal processors when a 20-ft. tall creature rose from the shrubbery. The creature looked down at Gir and let a low growl which turned into a thunderous roar which not only shook the surrounding area but caused the small robot to run and scream at the top of its vocal processors. Back with the main group the echoes of the roar were heard they stopped freaking out and started worry about what made that sound.
“ Wh-a-at was that?”  A slightly terrified, though she’ll never admit it, Sashi asked.
“ Je ne sais pas mais Coccienlle et Chat pourrait gérer.” Alya exclaimed but almost no one could understand her.
“ Je vais regarde aroud.” Both Adrien and Marinette said but before they could split off from the main group Gir came sprinting out of the forest, with his disguise torn, a bit and screeched out.
“RUN!!!!!” “Wait did that dog just talk?” Penn asked but before anyone could get a single word the beast thundered out of the forest on four of its legs towards the group. Star and her mother tried to access their magic but came up empty same for the gems and their weapons as well for Adrien and Marinette when they tried to transform. When the beast reached them most of the group closed their eyes not wanting to see what would happen next but instead of hearing flesh and bone being broken and ripped apart they heard what sounded like chuckling to which turned into a deep laugh. The group opened their to see th- “Quit calling me the beast you know my name so use it. You idiot.”   Fine they saw Drooler , a 20-ft. tall dark red dragon like creature with four arms black wings with scars on the wings and one on his chest he also has orange symbols on most of his body as well a light grey one. Who had his four arms wrapped around his chest and laughing, are you happy now. “ Well didn’t describe most of my good looks but I guess people wouldn’t be able to contain themselves if you did so 7/10”  Can I just get back to  telling the story “Sure.”  Thank you, Anyway the group just looked at him with shocked and frightened eyes no one moved or talked for an uncomfortable 5 min until Marco yelled.
“Who the heck are you!!” Drooler just looked slightly confused and asked.
“Did you my argument with Writer?” After he asked the question he looked around at the who mostly had confusion and fear on their faces. Drooler just hand to his head and shook it like he had a headache he mumbled.
“If only. So, names Drooler but you can call me Sir, Mr., or Fire-eater.” Most of the group were slightly confused by the last request but considering what they’re talking too they wouldn’t be surprised if he did do that. They started to walk to the building but Drooler told them to stop but before they could ask why a strange ship landed behind them. Out the ship walked out a tall a light midnight blue woman with almost white hair in a dark blue shawl, gem location upper chest area, followed by a thin light blue woman, same as Blue Diamond, with her hair covering her eyes and a third woman, gem location hip, who’s a mix of dark blue and black who was about 7 ft. tall an athletic build with uneven hair and an analytical face. Those figures seemed to cause the three gems and half gem to worry while the tall woman had a flash of anger appeared on her face and then she spoke.
“Onyx take care of these traitors.” The now named Onyx just nodded and pulled out a mace from the gem on her hip which surprised most of the group but not the Gems or the Maheswarans. However, what did surprise them was the speed the Onyx possessed which she used to sped towards the Crystal Gems raising her weapon at Amethyst but before Onyx could even hit Amethyst Drooler grabbed Onyxs’ arms with his lower pair of arms. Which caused Onyxs’ face to don a confused look which quickly turned into fear as two giant fists flattened her head causing her to disappear in cloud and her gem landing on the ground. Drooler just picked it up and flipped it towards Blue Diamond who surprisingly picked up out of fear of him.
“Come on, the guys are getting impatient.” He said casually said to the group which followed out of fear and curiosity. When they entered the building the size of the halls about three times the height of Drooler. Who was explaining what this building was, what they’re going to learn and whose teaching what but the group was actually paying attention to Droolers’ explanations instead they’re wondering what are the “guys” are, what they look like and how many there are. Also they’re wondering what the heck that loud banging they hear every 2 minutes which drove Pearl crazy so she asked.
“So uhm Mr.Drooler I do appreciate the tour but what is that annoying sound?!” Drooler just smiled and led them to a pair of large double doors which opened to a large auditorium with three rows of seats and a large stage. On that stage are eight creatures, the largest being 40 ft. tall and the smallest being 8 ft. tall, one of the creatures, a 25-ft. tall rhino like creature with blue marking on his chest, arms and tail, was about to ram into the now slightly dented wall until.
“Jack! Either you stop that or I’ll have you on Rot Worm clean up!!!”  Drooler yelled to the now named Jack who tripped and landed with a heavy dull thud. Jack looked at Drooler with an annoyed expression and asked.
“Boss, why ya do that for?” What surprised the group was Jacks’ Chicago accent but Drooler just answered with a small smile.
“Because I can. Now I believe we owe all of you some answers.”

Paleo Shrimp Tacos (Whole30, Keto)
Raise your hands if you’re hungry for some Whole30-friendly Paleo Shrimp Tacos! This quick and healthy weeknight supper is a cinch to throw together!
Tired of  Ground Beef Tacos?
When I was little, I somehow got the idea that all tacos consisted of ground beef served in crispy, fried taco shells. As a suburban child of the ’70s and ’80s, I naturally assumed that all tacos looked just like the crunchy variety from Taco Bell. (Believe it or not, Taco Bell didn’t introduce soft tacos until 1987, when I was already a teenager.) When my Aunt Elaine would make tacos at home, she went even further: She’d stuff seasoned ground meat into soft corn tortillas, and then seal ’em tight and DEEP FRY THE WHOLE THING. (They were delicious, by the way.) To me, tacos = fried corn shells and meat.
It wasn’t until I was in high school that a friend took me to an authentic Mexican taqueria, where I saw—and tasted—the incredible variety of tacos available. There weren’t just “ground beef tacos” on the menu; you could choose from carne asada, cabeza, and lengua. And beef wasn’t the only option, either. There was tinga de pollo, carnitas, and even camarones—SHRIMP!
Healthy Weeknight Shrimp Tacos!
Over the years, shrimp tacos have become a favorite in our family. We make ’em whenever we crave the bright, fresh combination of shrimp, lime, and avocado (which is, admittedly, all the time). These shrimp tacos are Paleo, Keto, and Whole30-friendly, too) because we substitute butter lettuce leaves for the tortillas—but to be honest, with these tacos, we never miss the tortillas anyway. Soft or crispy, the tortillas would just mask the brilliant, zesty flavors of these Paleo Shrimp Tacos.
How to cook them on a grill
Although I usually cook these shrimp tacos on a sheet pan in the oven, I prefer to throw them on the grill in the summertime!
On a Traeger Grill
If you’ve got a Traeger grill, you can use it like an outdoor oven and throw the sheet pan of marinated shrimp in it. I’ve learned through some trial and error that my oven recipes can cook in a Traeger, but you need to increase the temperature by about 25°F (i.e. for this recipe, cook in the Traeger at 425°F for 6 to 8 minutes or until just cooked through). For those of you wondering, I own and highly recommend this Traeger model. 
On a Gas Grill
Got a gas grill? Soak some bamboo skewers in water for 30 minutes. Grab a skewer and thread about 6 to 8 shrimp on it.  Repeat the process until all the shrimp are skewered. 
Crank the burners on the gas grill to high, cover, and heat until super hot. Then, scrape the grates clean and oil with avocado oil. Place the skewers on the grill and cook covered for 3 to 4 minutes, before flipping and cooking for 2 to 3 more minutes or until pink and just cooked through.
Air Fryer Cooking Instructions
Yes, you can cook the shrimp in an air fryer! Heat the air fryer to 400°F and place the shrimp in a single layer in the cooking basket. Air-fry for 5 to 7 minutes or until pink and just cooked through. You may need to cook the shrimp in batches if the basket is small.

Time to make Paleo Shrimp Tacos!
Serves 4
Ingredients:
For the Paleo Shrimp Tacos:
¼ cup avocado or olive oil
3 tablespoons fresh oregano, minced (or 1 tablespoon dried oregano)
2 garlic cloves, minced
Zest from one lime
1½ pounds peeled and deveined shrimp (21-25 count)
1 small white onion, peeled and finely diced
¼ cup cilantro, minced
½ teaspoon Diamond Crystal brand kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated
1 lime, cut into wedges
For the Avocado Crema:
1 large Hass avocado
¼ cup full-fat coconut milk
2 tablespoons cilantro, roughly chopped
¼ cup chives, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Method:
In a bowl, stir together the oil, oregano, garlic, and lime zest.
Toss in the shrimp.
Mix well, making sure that the shrimp is evenly covered. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or up to 2 hours. (No time to marinate the shrimp? It’ll still taste good!)
Combine the diced white onion and minced cilantro in a small bowl, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Next, make the Avocado Crema. (Psst! This is the same Avocado Crema that I make for my Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas!) Cut the avocado in half lengthwise and remove the seed. Scoop the flesh into a food processor or blender. Add the coconut milk, cilantro, chives, lime juice, salt, and pepper.
Blitz until smooth. Add some water to thin out the sauce if desired.Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed with salt, pepper, or more lime juice. You can refrigerate the crema in a container for up to 2 days.
When you’re ready to cook the shrimp, set the oven to 400°F with the rack in the middle position. Toss the shrimp with the salt and black pepper. Then, arrange the shrimp in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Pop it in the oven.
Roast for 6 to 8 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through.
Arrange the shrimp on lettuce leaves (a.k.a. nature’s tortillas!) and top with the diced onion and cilantro mixture and lime wedges. Drizzle or squirt avocado crema on the tacos.

Notes
How To Cook On A Traeger Grill
If you’ve got a Traeger grill, you can use it like an outdoor oven and throw the sheet pan of marinated shrimp in it. I’ve learned through some trial and error that my oven recipes can cook in a Traeger, but you need to increase the temperature by about 25°F (i.e. for this recipe, cook in the Traeger at 425°F for 6 to 8 minutes or until just cooked through).
How To Cook On A Gas Grill
Got a gas grill? Soak some bamboo skewers in water for 30 minutes. Grab a skewer and thread about 6 to 8 shrimp on it.  Repeat the process until all the shrimp are skewered. 
Crank the burners on the gas grill to high, cover, and heat until super hot. Then, scrape the grates clean and oil with avocado oil. Place the skewers on the grill and cook covered for 3 to 4 minutes, before flipping and cooking for 2 to 3 more minutes or until pink and just cooked through.
Air Fryer Cooking Instructions
Heat the air fryer to 400°F and place the shrimp in a single layer in the cooking basket. Air-fry for 5 to 7 minutes or until pink and just cooked through. You may need to cook the shrimp in batches if the basket is small.
