I never expected this to be the season that really highlighted Nadja and Guillermo's friendship but I'm so happy it was. Them physically protecting each other was amazing, but in the last few episodes of the season she really goes out of her way to defend him from both the Baron and Nandor even though she disagrees with his choice. That scene of them in the motel together is short, but it says so much. She gives him the lecture about protecting his sire not for Derek's sake but because she's worried about Guillermo and she's trying to give him some of the important vampiric lessons that he's missed out on because his turning was abnormal. I wish we had gotten to see the rest of their conversation play out before she left because it seemed like she was empathizing with him about how complicated relationships can be once you turn into a vampire and learning to accept those consequences. She takes on an almost big-sister-like role with Guillermo where she acts annoyed but also secretly cares very deeply and is trying to help him learn from her own experiences.
The entire household has grown closer to Guillermo this season, but for me his and Nadja's relationship is special because I feel like she's the one who has held him at arms length for the longest. Last season, their dynamic changed because he became the nightclub's accountant, but in situations where she helped him, she always fell back on the excuse that it was in her own self-interest. She could have abandoned Guillermo at urgent care, told Nandor his secret in order to minimize the fallout for herself, not gone to visit Guillermo or advocate for him to Nandor, etc., but now she puts herself in those risky situations because she cares.
Woven through this season there are bits and pieces about her early life and how her turning ended up being kind of a traumatic experience. She mentioned last season that she watched most of her family die (and at another point that she was the only one of her siblings to survive). In "Local News" and "Hybrid Creatures" she talks about being forced to leave Antipaxos and the only place she ever really felt at home. The fact that she was so desperate to escape when they thought they were exposed on the news, even if that meant going without the others, speaks to her being afraid of leaving herself vulnerable. Unlike Laszlo, she also doesn't seem to have many connections outside of her housemates until she begins visiting with the Antipaxos family. I think all that amounts to her being wary of trusting people or letting in others outside her relatively small circle because she's experienced the danger of getting too attached. It's taken her over a DECADE to warm up to Guillermo, but as she becomes comfortable reconnecting with her culture and her human past with the Antipaxons, it makes sense that she would start to let her guard down with him as well. I think Laszlo's comment in the finale about vampires having a difficult time expressing their emotions externally ties in well with this. Nadja is a very expressive person, but when it comes to displaying her emotional closeness with others, it comes across a lot more subtlely. Nadja's arc didn't have the clearest throughline this season, and the hex plot itself didn't really spur much development from her, but I feel like it ultimately led to moments that demonstrate how she forms relationships and the ways in which that's informed by her past.

My thoughts on Nandermo
I know their relationship is currently toxic, but I want both of them to improve before they get together. I want Nandor to stop being an ass. I want him to treat Guillermo with the respect he deserves / like an equal. Hopefully Derek will turn Guillermo into a vampire, and Nandor will have no choice but to treat him like an equal. Guillermo wouldn’t be his familiar anymore. He’d be a vampire like all of the other residents in the house. He wouldn’t be their servant, he’d be their equal.
I also want Guilermo to stop taking shit from Nandor, and stand up for himself more often. He should snap at Nandor for casually insulting him, he shouldn’t have to do all the chores in their house, he shouldn't have to do all of the hunting, and he should be more independent. He needs a life outside of being Nandor’s familiar.
I think both of them do love each other. Guillermo has had opportunities to turn into a vampire. He’s killed so many vampires that I’ve lost count. He could’ve just let them bite him, kill them, then drink their blood. I think he even had some vampire blood saved in their refrigerator at one point. He could’ve just drunk it and left, but he stayed. If he didn’t love Nandor, then why else would he stay?
Guillermo could’ve left years ago, but he didn’t. He’s risked his life so many times to protect Nandor, he rescued him from that cult, he tried to cheer him up when they were de-programming him (“It’s me, Nandor, the world’s greatest vampire!”), he made little puppets of him and Nandor, he was holding the puppets when Nandor left, he killed a whole room full of vampires to save his friends, Guillermo said Nandor should be proud of who he is when Nandor was complaining about his vampirism, and Guillermo confesses to killing the Baron when they’re on trial.
I think Nandor, well, I’m not exactly sure what his problem is. I think he has repressed his feelings for Guillermo because he’s just a familiar. All of the other familiars didn’t last long. They’re supposed to be viewed as servants and nothing more. Nandor does love Guillermo, but he has trouble expressing it. He could be afraid of what the other vampires would think if he started dating Guillermo. He’s also self destructive, so that’s not good. .
He puts up an uncaring facade, because Guillermo is “just a familiar” (and a vampire slayer). There are cracks in his facade though. He asked Guillermo to stay with him until he falls asleep, he made Guillermo a glitter painting (and Guillermo hung it up in his room), when they were fighting the sire Nandor prematurely yanked Gullermo away and went to fight it himself, Nandor says he’d been very unhappy since Guillermo left, he gave him a day off each week, I could hear the worry in his voice at the night market fight when he says “I think I killed my friend”, he said Guillermo has been a great familiar, he called Guillermo his friend, and Marwa kisses Guillermo after Nandor wishes she would like what he likes.
Plus, I’m sure Guillermo being a vampire slayer didn’t help. In season 4, it’s revealed that a vampire having a relationship with a vampire slayer is very taboo. The guide got her job as a punishment for it. When everyone found out Guillermo was a vampire slayer, they wanted to kill him, but Nandor wouldn’t let them.
I think Nandor has been searching for love since season 2, and it’d be ironic if the love of his life was right in front of him the whole time. Minus his self destructive behavior, it would explain why all of his attempts at finding love have been unsuccessful. They’ve known each other for 13 years. They’re each other’s best friends, and Guillermo is really all Nandor has. He and Laszlo bicker, he and Nadja argue about the Vampiric Council, and nobody likes Colin Robertson. Of course he would grow to care for him even if it’s not in a romantic way.
I think Nandor hasn’t turned Guillermo into a vampire yet because his perception of time is different, and he’s afraid Guillermo will leave him. In the first episode, Nandor thought Guillermo had only been there for 2 years. Nandor thinks the only reason he stays is because he wants to become a vampire. It’s why Nandor gets do agitated whenever Guillermo brings it up. He doesn’t want him to leave. Guillermo has left before (twice I think). He’s afraid Guillermo will leave permanently, and not come back if he does get turned into a vampire.

TLDR: I want both of them to improve themselves and their relationship before they get together. Guillermo needs to become more independent, and Nandor needs to stop being such an ass. Nandor needs to treat Guillermo like an equal, and Guillermo needs to have a life outside of being Nandor’s familiar.
I’m sorry this is so long. It was supposed to be way shorter. This took a couple hours. My crappy internet went down when I was writing this (I hate it with a passion), and I had some time to kill. It kills me to write a few paragraphs for school, but I’ve got no problem writing a two page essay about Nandermo of all things. I’ve recently developed an unhealthy obsession with the show, and I’m rewatching it. I regret nothing.

HART (Dorie and Gus Hart)
Summary: Bebe has really been through a lot in the household of the Harts. Her best friend Holly Alto was her help in her darker days, until the Alto clan had created inside their lineage their own problems. Luckily over the last school year, Bebe and her crush began dating at some point, then moved out to live with him. Bebe finally gets used to the peace in their household, but soon things are put upside down again as Lisa brings into the house her boyfriend VJ as well…..

tbh i am kinda glad laszlo did what he did.
with guillermo paired off w nandor, nadja and laszlo moving away, the house left barren... it was starting to feel some kind of a bittersweet too much of a series wrap up vibe to me so im lowkey glad laszlo did the fuckery and switched it all up at the last moment. now guillermo and nandor have to re-examine their codependent relationship away from each other and YEARN; nandor has to deal with why guillermo's abandonment stings so much, since that is the exact thing he has feared for the longest time and guillermo has to come to terms with why he needs to be with nandor and why that reason somewhere down the line sidestepped being wanting to be a vampire (which he still wants) to wanting to be with nandor more than anything else. when they meet again after this time and distance from each other it'll be seeing each other in a different light.
meanwhile laszlo in his dilf era trying to figure out how to raise a baby colin robinson and nadja in her "i am going to kill my husband i am going to KILL HIM" era when they step off the boat in england and guillermo and nadja girlbossing the entire supreme vampiric council being begrudging besties, the family is apart geographically but. they are in the kind of combo (or even alone) that they will have to come back to each other. like laszlo's homophobic crime tore the family apart in a way that the stitches that will be needed for mending will need all and everyone to weave that thread together its an active choice they will all have to make and i have no idea where they are going with s4 but i am hyped bc the s3 ripped the rug from right under us in less than 3minutes left in the season finale i have both mad respect and mad contempt for the writers this was COMPLETELY out of the left field and I love IT

1. Do you remember the episode/scene/chapter that you first started shipping 5?
Dude I got into the series late, so Tumblr had already ruined me. I went in to episode one already shipping them.
2. Have you ever read a fan fiction about 2?
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve read any TMA fanfics.
3. Has a picture of 4 ever been your screen saver/profile picture/tumblr ID?
Nah.
4. If 3 were to suddenly break up today, what would your reaction be?
Oh they aren’t and realistically never will be canon, they’re more of a comfort ship of two people who desperately need affection that I can project aspects of myself on to (namely, the needing affection and being old and tired parts).
5. Why is 1 so important?
They’re two main characters and both are canonically queer. One is a fat Mexican man who is no longer treated as a background comedy character as he’s grown so much through the series. Their relationship is the crux of both of their character developments (though arguably Guillermo could still have a lot of his development without Nandor, a lot of what he does comes down to his affection for and need to protect Nandor; Nandor’s development, on the other hand, has to do a lot with his interpersonal relationships). Their relationship is AT LEAST a canonically one-sided romance with the sincere possibility of it being requited (”it’s requited, they’re just idiots” is the best phrase I’ve heard to describe them), and this is on a mainstream, primetime show.
And, may I reiterate, canonically queer main characters on a primetime show, one of which is a fat POC. I love some representation, dudes.
I just... I f*ing love this ship. TV couldn’t dream of having this canon even a few years ago, let alone a decade.
6. Is 4 a funny ship or a serious ship?
Serious, I’d think. Ardeth is a pretty serious man, lol. I definitely don’t ship it as a crack ship though, if that’s what you’re asking.
7. Out of all your ships listed, which ship has the most chemistry?
Fuck, right now I’d say Nandermo or Bubbleline. I’d argue that most of the ships I ship have chemistry, but of those two ships, in one the actors have incredible chemistry that they bring on camera, and the other has had the time to develop it, especially after dating, breaking up messily, tentatively becoming friends again, and finally rekindling. Jonmartin ends with good chemistry, but they, lol, did not start the series like that.
8. Of all the ships, which ship has the strongest bond?
Again, Bubbleline has had the time to develop that bond. Otherwise, Jonmartin because it developed through surviving and relying on one another through life or death situations. Nandermo could be up there if they’d stop being idiots and, ya know, let themselves bond.
9. How many times have you read/watched 2’s fandom?
Listened through in its entirety once, but have gone back and listened to ship-related episodes multiple times.
10. Which ship lasted the longest?
Bubbleline, considering how old they both are and that the series is soooooo friggin long.
11. How many times, if ever, has 5 broken up?
Once.
12. If the world was suddenly thrust into a zombie apocalypse, which ship would make it out alive, 1 or 3?
Lol, both, I’d think. Though by now I think Guillermo has had enough with zombies.
13. Did 4 ever have to hide their relationship for any reason?
They definitely aren’t canon, but I would think they’d try to hide their relationship and Evie would find out because she’s smart and good at reading her brother. Jonathan spending so much time in Egypt or Ardeth appearing in Britain without there being an apocalypse would probably be a big hint.
14. Is 5 still together?
Yep.
15. Is 1 canon?
Ask that question again after tonight’s episode! Guillermo does canonically have feelings for Nandor, and from spoilers I’ve read concerning tonight’s episode, I think Nandor admits that he “has affection” for Guillermo as well.
Ugh I am legit vibrating with anticipation. Less than eight hours to go.
16. If all five ships were put into a couple’s Hunger Games, which couple would win?
Don’t you dare make me choose between my children.
17. Has anyone ever tried to sabotage 5’s ship?
They broke up and dated other people in the interim, so sabotage isn’t really the right word.

Oh yeah. Spent hours writing fanfics for them, too.

so, idk if it’s been talked about, but i been having some thots on the choice of song for that iconique moment in which guillermo storms the nouveau theatre des vampires and goes on a rampage and what could it mean.
the song in question is “I Don’t Care (Yo No Sé)” by Los Dug Dug’s, an historic rock band from mexico. what is inch resting though is that the lyrics are very appropriate for all the events that have been going on in s2.
so, first of all, there are two versions of the song. one in spanish and another in english (i’ll leave a link to the english one below). even though they are supposedly the same song, and both being about love, the lyrics are very different. and the fact that the original spanish version was chosen should arguably clue us about whose point of view is about (hint hint, the latino legend) and yet, i think it’s very ambiguous who is the speaker in the song, is it nandor’s because of the pleading tone? is it guillermo’s because of the spanish? is it both? with that in mind, the lyrics:

and then the lyrics loop. so, this is a explicitly romantic song, one in which the speaker repeatedly says that they are uncertain about everything in their life but in the presence of their significant other. declaring to their s/o that they would die without them and if the s/o stays just a bit longer, they will be happy. considering that this is guillermo’s Big Moment it makes sense that the song involves him in some way, but whether he is the speaker or the object, we must consider first that the song is about two people. it makes sense that this other person is nandor because their relationship and it’s developments are central to the show entire premise. my current theory for this song is that the second and five stanzas (the longest ones) are sung from guillermo’s and then nandor’s point of view respectively.
the second stanza belongs to guillermo because, while nandor’s image of himself and the world is changing, it doesn’t compare with the existential crisis that gizmo has been nursing since s1. guillermo doesn’t know what is going to happen now or what is he going to do with his life after the cat is out of the bag like this (hell, he didn’t know when he left before the dramatic vampire slaying) but he did came back, even though he didn’t have to. even when nobody expected to. what this song suggests us is that yes, he came back for his friends but specially for nandor’s. it was his relationship with nandor what kept him from leaving even when it felt unbearable.
the fifth stanza is spoken from nandor’s perspective cause guillermo has, at the very moment, the confidence to choose for himself. he can’t force guillermo to come back, he has to want it. and the fact that gizmo has just saved the vampires (un)lives just hammers the point that nandor is at the literal mercy of guillermo and that yes, he would have actually died without gizmo’s love for him. and what the song tells us is that nandor is pleading him to stay by making him happy at last.
in conclusion, is nandermo canon theydies? since a tv show is full of people making active decisions for what they put on air, this is not an accident. they are reinforcing the subtext that has been growing steadily since the beginning. the good news here is that the show is hinting a willingness to develop the relationship, and if the song implies something, a much necessary and drastic character development for nandor. and if everything goes well, however the relationship grows, it will be much healthier for it.

This is Guillermo, from the story I have been working on (in some form) for the longest. It used to have a title, but it grew out of the one it had. I started the story that would eventually become his when I was 11 years old (and I’m twice that old now.) He’s not the protagonist (Kye is) but he has been gradually growing on me as the years have gone by, so his story arc is inching its way closer to equal weight with the actual protagonist’s every single day.
Guillermo is one of my oldest characters with an established age (though he’s only 35.) He’s one of my first gay characters as well.
Though the details of the story he’s in have always been fuzzy, there are a few things I’ve pretty well established about Guillermo’s place in it. He met his closest friend, Dmitri, when he was about 13 and Dmitri was about 15 years old. Guillermo initially kept him at arm’s length, but over time grew to trust him. To escape his abusive father, Guillermo lived with Dmitri and his uncles for a few months - until an attack on their village forced the two of them to flee. When they returned to the village later, they found their home - and many others - burned to the ground.
He and Dmitri were members of a rebellion against their country’s royal family when Guillermo was 17-19 years old. They fought many bloody battles during those two years as the rebellion began to lose ground - and eventually Guillermo was captured and tortured by the royal army. During his imprisonment, he lost his left eye. He and several other prisoners were eventually rescued by Dmitri and a small group of fellow soldiers (the man who would become Kye and Temp’s father among them.) During their escape, Dmitri is killed - but not before he passed his parents’ wedding rings, which he always wore on a chain around his neck, to Guillermo.
Dmitri’s death devastated Guillermo. Not having much basis of comparison due to his forcibly sheltered early life, he had never given much thought to his feelings for Dmitri, always simply regarding him as a close friend - but Dmitri’s last words to him forced him to think about their relationship differently. He keeps the wedding rings around his neck at all times, as a reminder.
He lived with Kye and Temp’s parents for a short period of time. When they told him they would be having their first child, Guillermo chose to leave, not wanting to impose on them any further. and here’s where my (oddly detailed) knowledge of Guillermo’s backstory starts to fall apart. I haven’t fully decided how he meets Aika. Either he hires her as a mercenary (for what, I don’t know; at this point in his life, he’s like 29 somehow, he’s focusing all his energy on just wanting to stay alive - which is in itself hard enough for him to do - I can’t see him starting a revenge plot) or... something else. Maybe she hauls his drunk ass off the street sometime. Who knows. Not me. You think I know things. It’s not like I wrote this shit or something
Anyway. That brings us to the beginning of the story he’s from. He and Aika have known each other about 6 years. He’s as close to stable as he’s ever been (which isn’t to say close) and he’s out in society as a functional human. And then one day he stumbles upon a certain group of protagonists (stowed away on a train) on the run from the same forces he’s been trying to escape since the war ended, and oops he’s all caught up in things again.
So that’s him in summary. I’ve written some good shit for him. Probably none of it will end up in whatever the actual story turns out to be, but. Well. Then it’s all just for me

I have lost my favorite fanfic. I took too long to make my ao3 profile, soo i kept it open in my phone, but I must have closed it for mistake, because its NO WHERE. And now I cant even REMEMBER THE NAME
So I come here in despair to ask if some kind soul can help me to find it again
It was the final part of a nandermo series in wich they were fleeing the council, and they do a car travel in United States. In the one i am looking for Nandor and Guillermo were finally happilly together, and they stop in a small country city in some corn harvest festival. They find some homophobic dudes, and Nandor steal a horse, slay them, and then they burn the whole city.
You see, that was my confort fic, if someone could help me with this I would be immensely grateful

Oh Goddess, I've just read a shit that shredded my sad wednesday night one little joy. It is, the one I got from watching WWDITS. You must have already saw it.
It is a interview, specificaly that fucking little excerpt that i quote:
"You look at his relationship with Nandor," Guillén continued. "Are they close? Does he see him as a brother? You're walking a tightrope and can't lean too much into this or that and let the audience [take] what they're going to take... I love that they're two males that are together and it doesn't have to be sexual and we love that tightrope because, at that moment, it can be nothing or everything at the same time."
FUCK
I mean, we all know what that red flag is, I just wasnt expecting that low blow from WWDITS.
Anyway, I dont think we should be angry at Guillén for reproducing that "male friendship" discourse. Actualy it sounds like a warning, so, for the first time in my life, I am going to take that warning. So shatter your hopes with me before we turn out to hate the series (thats still a really good one).
They dont intend to make Nandermo canon. Ever. Not even if we ask a lot, and nicely. The hints that Nandor and Guillermo might feel something for each other has only comical purposes, its just a joke. Please, dont belive it.
I learnt my damn lesson the last time.
